Whenever I am in town I stop and eat at this delightful restaurant. In fact, the last time I went, I had enough check-ins to be named The Duke. In fact, I had Victor the bartender calling me The Duke for the entire duration of dinner (I eat at the bar when I am alone ). While I like to be adventurous, I rarely stray from the Chicken and Yellow Rice, it is simply that well done. I have tried a number of other dishes, but that is simply my favorite. They say they are a fusion restaurant, and there are a number of interesting recipes, but the Arroz con Pollo is special. This place used be a favorite of mine for Latin American food. The quality of the food has gone down & the taste is significantly different from the last time I was here about 4 or 5 months ago. I was born in Colombia and grew up in California. I love food and I can appreciate good Colombian and Mexican food when I see it. First off, the empanadas had no taste, they were very dry on the outside and undercooked on the inside. The "Aji", which is a Colombian staple, was absolutely terrible. It's one of the most simple recipes and I don't understand how you ruin it so badly. It had zero flavor, and the most important ingredient, peppers? Where are the peppers??? It was watered down cilantro with huge chunks of green onions. Even my husband, who is American looked at it and asked me what it was. We were both looking forward to the empanadas and were extremely disappointed. The only thing that was decent about our meal tonight was the meat. Everything else was very bland. What happened to the flavor? This place is starting to become more like a Tex-mex or chain restaurant than the more authentic and higher quality place it used be. I understand you want to appeal to the the average person and the "masses" but will cost you. I also noticed your menu is very different and limited. Majority of your Mexican dishes are nice not even considered authentic Mexican dishes. This place used to stand out from places las el toreo & now you are in the same category. I simply won't pay these prices for average food. I would consider chipotle before I had any of your so called "Mexican" food. For those people who want authentic and flavor Mexican food, La Hacienda is by far the best Mexican food in town. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the Ocala area. I can say this place has been around a long time and I use to eat there weekly when I lived in the area. The menu has been updated as well as the restaurant but the last time I was in town I had the same thing I always get which is the arroz con pollo. This is the best I've eaten anywhere. Their plantains are delicious. Their salsa is one of my personal favorites as well. We also had the ceviche which was well liked by the group I was with that had never been there. Salad with partners entree was crisp and with variety of veggies- house dressing delicious! I had the veggie plate and partner had chicken entree and both were delicious! I used to eat my favorite ceviche here! I don't know what changed in the kitchen but a few years back it wasn't the same. Haven't tried again since. I still enjoy very many other items on the menu like lomo saltado, tostones with chorizo and cheese, etc. The staff was always nice and helpful. Wednesday night (Dec 2022) we went to Latino Y Mas, which I have liked in the past. And we definitely will NOT be going back there again. I ordered the Paella. It had 2 clams in it, both of which were closed and one was also cracked and broken. Those are both indications that the clams might be spoiled. After telling the waitress, someone came over and asked me if I wanted him to try to smash them open. I explained to him that would NOT be acceptable because they might be spoiled. I asked to speak to the manager who came over and tried to justify why they didn't have control over the clams and why they couldn't replace them. She also did NOT offer to do anything like knock a couple of bucks off the bill or ask if I wanted a free dessert (which I would have turned down). Short result ... they did NOTHING to indicate they cared about their customer or the quality of their food. And I will NOT be going back. read more

We arrived after the lunch rush, so there was no wait. Our waitress took our drink order right away and took our food order after delivering our drinks. She checked on us a couple times and was very sweet. My husband ordered the Monday Burrito Special (comes with rice and beans) and I had a single Beef Burrito with a side of sweet plantains. The plantains could have been cooked a little bit longer but otherwise our food was very good. We will definitely eat here again. read more

THEY ARE GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY!! Gluten FREE dishes!!! Oh my word so yummy! I had the GF enchilada plate (steak) my BF had chimichangas. Everything was very fresh and cooked to perfection. The food here is more Latin in style ( the rice was excellent) and less Mexican which surprised me even though I read the name of this eatery. Unusual for down here. We had a wonderful Peruvian ceviche. We ordered a bottle of sea glass chardonnay from the wine list for $25.(retail price around $10). The waiter took our order, and after a while he came back with a bottle of Cambria chardonnay (retail price around $15), explaining that they switched to this brand and assuring us that the price was the same. When the waiter came with the bill, he apologized saying the wine was actually $48, but they would charge us only $40. We have seen this disgusting trick being played before. We told him we agreed on 25 and wouldn't pay more. The waiter, a very nice young man, apologized again and said he would speak to management. The owner came to our table and told us we have to pay 40. Otherwise he would demand the difference from the waiter because it is his fault. Such an outrageous thing to say! This was such a sour grape, it ruined the otherwise great dinner experience! We would have given the place 5 stars for food, service and outdoor atmosphere, but the owner brought it down to not even one star. read more

I do not recommend this restaurant for Mexican food. My family ordered fajitas for dinner and it was tasteless and the beef was very hard and dry. The only thing good about this restaurant was the wait staff. We went in a Friday evening at 5:00, 4 of us. Ordered steak fajitas for 2, empanadas, beef enchiladas, a chicken dish with artichokes, capers and a butter wine sauce, 2 margaritas, the sangria, and a beer The only dish that was good was the chicken dish, and the only drink that was good was the beer. The steak fajitas were tough, overcooked, unseasoned and stringy. The empanadas were dry, also unseasoned and tasted old. The enchiladas were the same; tasteless and tough. The sangria was watered down and the margaritas were too sweet, I'm sure from a mix. Very poor experience. Of course won't be back again and will make a point of telling folks to stay away. read more
