Walked around the pier and had coffee Our boat shuttle picked up at 545( it's at quarter past and quarter to every hour), beautiful hostess checked our names and took us to the tables when we reached there - arrival experience was fab! Eduardo got us drink and kids food, and set yr mood right. Cosmos were good, my old fashioned amazing, I wish they had a cube or big ball ice cube to meet their standards rather than ice cubes in old fashioned. There complimentary bread with signature butter arrived and was the best bread I had in long time, my fav was Parmesan and rye bread. Main course the best was snapper, wish I ordered the same. The Lobster crab cake was the best thing we had. The lobster roll was the first lobster roll I ever had so I have no basis for comparison but I wasn't expecting it to be like a tuna salad. I guess that's on me. Regardless, they sat us at a little table as close to the water as you can get and it was perfect. Dinning in this restaurant was an experience. You had to ride a ferry going to the island Parking is at the Opal hotel, for which the restaurant will validate. You will be directed at the dock behind the restaurant (slip 29). The reservation is through Open table only and actually is a reservation for the Ferry pick up. You will be boarding together with the guests staying at the island. The restaurant looks really nice. I can see the potential for this place for a romantic dinner. People are dressed up. We were seated outside by the beach. For the appetizers, we got the octopus which was cooked really well and the lobster bisque which was also cooked really good. I like that the bisque was not too thick and heavy but still was flavorful For the main: Pan seared yellow snapper- was a little dry to our liking and didn't really tasted fresh. It was also bland. This place is a must come to for the view! Reserve a time online and take the ferry from the pier at Opal view resort. Someone from the ferry checks you in with your reservation time. Takes 10 minutes to get there with a no doubt sweet view of key west. The ferry leaves from Opal view resort every 15 min and 45 min of the hour. Leaves from latitudes on the hour and every 30 min of the hour. Place was very clean and nice. Staff always wore masks. Our reservation was at 9:15 AM which is likely the first reservation time open to guests other than hotel guests. We got super lucky and were seated at the very edge of their outdoor seating area so we had the unobstructed view of the beach and sea! Absolutely gorgeous view for a breakfast! I didn't have high expectations for the food because most of the reviews seemed to stress the view more than good food. But I was surprised that the food was solid! Definitely on the pricier side no doubt but for breakfast, it was not bad at all. I ordered the breakfast burrito with home fries and fresh fruit cup that I added for $4. I personally do not like home fries normally because of how greasy they are and found these home fries delicious! Perfect amount of crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Burrito itself was good. Fresh fruit cup was better than most fruit assortments i get elsewhere. My husband ordered the avocado Benedict with home fries and addition of blueberry oatmeal, which was also delicious. Overall, great experience. Just a note though, slow service is probably good service here. Give yourself ample time especially since you have to wait for the ferry to get back to the pier. This was a wonderful experience that almost did not happen! We showed up at 8:25 for the boat for a dinner reservation at 8:45. We tried to check in with the boat and they said we were checked in as a no show??? After much confusion, we figured out I actually booked for breakfast not dinner! The hostess for the boat went over to the island and was able to help us out with getting a table. The boat ride was wonderful...in the day time it would have been beautiful. Wow! I was very hesitant to visit latitudes because of some mixed reviews I found online, however, the location was so inviting that we decided to go for it. Boy I'm glad we did! It was an excellent breakfast and totally lovely morning that you should try to have too! The boat ride to the restaurant was super easy and quick. Sitting at the restaurant with friends overlooking the water made for such a lovely experience. Our waiter was Aaron. He was so charming and kind. He was attentive and even offered to take our photo before we left. The food was (and should be) the best part. It certainly was. We got a lot of things: French toast, buttermilk pancakes, key lime pancakes, smoked salmon Benedict, and cheesy grits. The standout dish was without a doubt the cheesy grits. They so creamy and flavorful. I do wish there was a little more chorizo but the shrimp certainly provided the protein and salty flavor that the dish needed. Oh! Our annual Key West trip and decided to reserve a table at Latitude's on Sunset Key. Booked online, selected the option for a birthday celebration! Booked for Wednesday, July 30. Arrived via ferry for our 8:30 reservation. Arrived at the host stand, waited, the host with scruffy, grey beard and manbun, never acknowledged us, made no eye contact, never looked up from the computer. I greeted him, gave our name, again, he never looked up, I asked if an outside table was available. He mumbled something inaudible, to which I replied, excuse me? He replied: NO! Inside. A young lady came, he gave her our menus and told her: table 15, no acknowledgment of a birthday celebration. We were seated at the smallest table, a 30" round table, there were THREE nearby four tops set for 2-guests nearby which remained open past 10pm when we left. Perhaps we were being punished for asking for outside. We ordered cocktails which were delicious. We ordered the burrata and lobster/crab cake appetizers. Both delicious; however, the crab cake was completely devoid of lobster. I ordered the yellowtail snapper with basmati rice and my spouse (native Italian) ordered the carbonara with egg yolk and local pink shrimp. My fish was overcooked, could not even flake the fish, forgot it came with rice as there was a large scoop of what I thought were mashed potatoes, the rice was so overcooked and soft, no trace of a grain of rice, who could eat that? The carbonara, well, not carbonara in the true Italian style, was made with heavy cream, the tagliatelle was not 'twirlable' with a fork as it was overcooked and broke apart with each twirl, again, laden with heavy cream. It's fine to offer 'your' version of carbonara; however, state: carbonara Lattitude's way! We informed our server, Alexander, who was great, professional, knowledgeable, he was great! Neither of us finished more than half of our dinners, which is about $100 per person. After dinner, Alex asked if we'd saved room for dessert. We said we were celebrating a birthday! He had no idea, taken by surprise, he offered a birthday dessert of our choice. Apparently, no communication with the server. It's always a treat to experience the ferry ride over to Sunset Key for a dining experience at Latitudes. To be able do this you must have a reservation first. We went for lunch and were seated promptly outside overlooking the beautiful blue water. It was a warm day but our table had an umbrella which provided plenty of shade and there was a really nice breeze. The staff were all friendly and professional. The menu has a variety of options with something for everyone. We decided on the lobster bisque which was creamy and had chunks of lobster in it. So delicious! You have to meet down at the Opal Key resort to catch a 7 minute ferry to get to Sunset Key which is cool. Once there you are unloaded onto the island and walk into the restaurant which is really beautiful. We sat outside and enjoyed the view very much. Our server was very nice although so quiet I could almost not even hear him. They give you bread to start out with and thank goodness because the portions of the dinner is very small. Reservations are hard to come by unless you book weeks in advance and you have to take a boat to get to this spot. We wanted to go for sunset, but only managed to get a lunch reservation. We had high expectations of this place because it's so hard to get a dining reservations. However, I have to say that the food was pretty average, so you are paying for the views. The salad and the bisque were the best parts of the meal. My husbands tacos were doused in sauce, but not really in a good way. And my pasta tasted a bit sour because of the amount of lemon in the sauce. Perhaps they were having an off day or perhaps we ordered the wrong things. A unique location, friendly staff, fantastic food, and a beautiful sunset! All combined to make Latitudes one of our top dinning experiences, ever! The adventure began with a short boat from Key West to Sunset Key. The trip is only a few minutes long, with comfortable outside seating, as well as seating inside with air conditioning. Once there, we were greeted by friendly staff and beautiful surroundings. The wine and cocktail lists were extensive and there were many delicious menu choices for dinner. We chose three main courses and all were wonderful. Lobster Risotto - Creamy and delicious. Both the risotto and lobster were cooked to perfection. Short Ribs - Fork tender with a fabulous sauce. This was my personal favorite. The potato croquettes were excellent! Shrimp Pasta Carbonara - The well prepared pasta carbonara could have stood on its own, but the addition of perfectly cooked shrimp complimented the bits of bacon and definitely took this dish up a notch. Once again, I can't over emphasize the friendly staff at Latitudes. Victor our waiter, was attentive, but also allowed us time to enjoy the view and sunset. I have to give a shout out to James, who was quick to step in and offer to take our picture with at sunset. Pro Tip - Reservations are a must for Latitudes. If unable to find openings online, give them a call. You may be pleasantly surprised when they find a spot for you. Also, think about making a day trip to Sunset Key. You really are paying for the experience and the view here but well worth it. The food was 3-4/5. we went for breakfast as I booked the reservation two weeks in advance and lunch/dinner was full. Highly recommended early breakfast (we had a 9:15 reservation), as we were able to get our choice of seating and were able to sit right along the water. I wish the key lime flavor had shined a bit more in the key lime French toast and the crab Benedict was OK but the Benedict sauce was a bit flavorless. Nonetheless, we immensely enjoyed our experience, the boat ride over, the cute presentation of the latte with a Rock Candy stirrer for sugar, the fresh squeezed OJ, and the wildlife sighting off the pier while waiting for the ferry to return. Well, I was hopeful this was going to be a great breakfast from reading other reviews, but it was not. If i was rating just on my food, it'd be one star l, but I added the second star for some of the staff's friendliness & efficiency. We waited about 10-15 minutes for mimosas to come out. Our food took an hour. We were a party of 3 & we saw a party of 2 that arrived on the boat with us boarding the boat to go back before we even got our food. When our food arrived, mine (Caribbean breakfast) was missing the pork belly, hand almost crepe-like pancakes that were doughy and my over-hard eggs had some liquidy yolk and whites! When I informed them I was missing my pork belly they brought it out, but it was not pork belly... It was pulled pork shaped into a rectangle and deep fried; while it tasted good and was done, it was not pork belly. The key lime syrup that came with the pancakes was tasty. One of my friends got the french toast which she said was good, but nothing amazing; the other got eggs with bacon and an English muffin which she said was ok. Also, when we went to use the bathroom in the restaurant area, the toilets were not working, which apparently happens often; but, the employee who informed us of the issue did walk us over to other bathrooms close by to use. Would I try here again, likely not. Should you try it if you want to? Absolutely, perhaps I just had a bad experience... Our party of 9 had dinner here on a Tuesday evening just after a wedding on Sunset Key. We made reservations many months ago. SERVICE: Outstanding. We were looked after quite well by Bryan and a supporting cast of others. They were gracious to give us a bit of time as a toast was read, we never felt rushed and waters were frequently refreshed. It was classy. Rather than pouring water from a condensation soaked pitcher, they would simply replace the water glasses with new ones. I have never seen that done and it was quite a nice touch! Bryan was in tune with our needs every step of the way, right through dessert and lots of photo ops. He was excellent. FOOD: Meh. The general consensus was everyone's food was just OK. No one had anything to say beyond that. The snapper, mushroom linguini, tenderloin, chicken and wagyu skirt steak were just simply nothing to write home about. The onion soup and the Caesar salad got good reviews. 2 of the steaks were cooked more like rare/med rare although they were requested medium and medium well. As it was a mixed group at dinner I did not get this feedback until the next day as the guests were not comfortable sending theirs back. BAR: Drinks were excellent. We got to the boat an hour early only to find out we couldn't go to Sunset Key until 10 minutes before our reservation time. Nice to know. The "hostess" had an attitude and used the "P" word - policy. We sat for an hour in 100° heat index. Not a good start. 2. The octopus appetizer was chewy and overdone. 3. My lobster bisque was very salty and barely luke warm. 4. We both got the $72 wagu steak. It was a little tough (needed a steak knife for wagu!) and so salty, we didn't finish an 8 ounce steak! 5. Omelette was delicious but missing the spinach, 3 of our dishes just did not come with the side of fruit or salad, a side of bacon wasn't brought out and when eventually brought after following up, 2 cold slices of undercooked bacon came - service was so poor and took 30+ mins for coffee and juice to arrive that we didn't bother ordering any cocktails or additional juices. The check-in area at Margaritaville is easy to find and clearly marked, and the boat was right on time to pick us up. Upon arrival to Latitudes, we were sat immediately at an oceanfront table with white table linens and ice waters waiting for us. i ordered a cucumber and pineapple martini which was strong and delicious, along with the lobster and crab cake to start. The crab cake was huge, an inch thick, and was so meaty -- the best we've ever had! We also split a Caesar salad which was served with fresh anchovies and crunchy, buttery croutons. The salad was fresh and the dressing was perfect. For our entrees, we ordered the pan seared swordfish and the beef tenderloin. Both came out hot, were large portions, and cooked perfectly to order. The fish had a nice crisp exterior and soft, tender interior. The tenderloin was exactly medium rare and the wine sauce that accompanied it was savory.
