Arrive 10 minutes prior to departure. The boat ride is a quick and enjoyable 5 minutes to Sunset Key. We were on the 4:45pm ferry and it is was a beautiful pre sunset cruise over watching the catamarans and sailboats making their way out to watch the sunset. It is kind of like arriving on Fantasy Island. Everyone gets off the boat and makes their way to the hostess where you are immediately seated. Your table preference is given in order of how far in advance your reservation was made. We had a beautiful 2 top outside for our Anniversary dinner. Our server was very attentive and reminded us to take our time and soak in the evening. She was very good at ensuring that the drinks, ordering our food, etc were paced out and not rushed. Embrace this! Enjoy the view and your company. She was kind enough to take our photo with the sunset and water in the background as well. Thank you! For entrees we had the Pan Seared Yellowtail Snapper and my husband had the Seared Grouper. We both loved our entrees but thought that if we return we would do several appetizers instead. This was arguably the greatest dining experience I've ever had. The view was spectacular, and the food was just as good! Our waiter, Eduardo, was entertaining and on top of it. We booked Latitudes for Valentine's Day expecting a high-end, special experience. Unfortunately, it fell well short--especially at $185 per person. The preset Valentine's menu (appetizer, entrée, dessert for $185pp) was not disclosed during the online reservation process. That lack of transparency was disappointing from the start. Appetizers were the highlight--both were very good, and the crab cake was excellent. After that, it went downhill. The grouper was overcooked and dry. The lobster and shrimp fettuccine had great flavor but was extremely skimpy--very little lobster and just three small shrimp. Dessert looked nice, but the chocolate-covered strawberries were made with unripe, flavorless berries. From a service standpoint, this is where things really missed the mark--especially for a restaurant positioned as "high-end." The experience begins with the boat ride over, and the host checking guests in was not welcoming. Additionally, despite having a reservation time that coincided with sunset, we were seated inside while multiple outdoor tables remained open. It seemed like a missed opportunity to prioritize seating guests with sunset reservations accordingly. After dinner, we sat at the bar for 10 minutes without any acknowledgment from the bartender and eventually left. One final frustration--the suggested tip amounts were calculated on the total including tax, rather than the pre-tax subtotal. Suggested gratuities should be based on the pre-tax amount, especially at this price point. The setting is beautiful, but that alone doesn't justify the cost. Read this for a real review. Beautiful ferry ride, ocean ambience. Requested a window for the view and was told by the hostess seating us to go back again to ask the manager who stated "no". (This window view table wasn't EVER seated while we were dining) Food was a 3.5. Burrata appetizer had apple chunks instead of a blacked nectarine as described.The Brussel sprouts which came with the chicken were soggy. The shrimp pasta was too bacon forward. The ceasar salad had soggy lettuce. Was sat in the bar area but not allowed to order the bar bites. Server Edwardo abruptly stated "no" on many occasions when asked for my friend's to spit our tab for my birthday gift. We heard the server say aloud, "who do they think they are," to another server. We asked why they don't split he said "You are in the United States of America and you rode a boat to get here. " His actions made the table feel unsettled. We asked to speak to the manager and our server swooped in and said he spit it three ways. He was acting very strange yet rude. Sparkler on the dull crème brûlée was a nice touch for my 45th birthday celebration. However, friends did pay for the dessert just as an fyi. We went to Latitudes for lunch on our latest trip to Key West. It was a great experience. You ABSOLUTELY need to make a reservation, or you can't board the ferry that takes you over to Sunset Key. You can't go over early. You are assigned a timeslot. The restaurant is at a very pricey resort, hence the rules. Once there, you are seated at the restaurant. The service is outstanding. Nothing more needs to be said about that. They are amazing at making you feel at home. No rush at all. The water views from the outside tables are amazing. It must be fantastic to stay at the actual resort, but it is out of my price range and I like staying in town anyway. The cocktails are innovative. We had a gin-based purple-colored cocktail, and it was amazing. So much so that each of us had two. We started with a lobster bisque that rivaled anything I have had in New England. My wife had a blackened grouper sandwich with fries. Doesn't sound like much, but the grouper was perfectly seasoned, the bread was freshly baked, and the fish was amazing. I had the same fish on a Caesar salad. It was one of the best Caesar salads I have ever had. You should try this for lunch. It is an amazingly relaxing time. read more

Latitudes was highly recommended by both family and online reviews. I have to say it is an experience from the time you start to the end. You start with arriving at the boat dock behind the opal key resort and take a ferry over to sunset key. Depending on when you have booked your reservation depends on how good your seat is. I booked about 2 1/2 months prior to us coming so we were sat right by the waters edge. however I do recommend looking at the sunset times because i booked for a normal dinner time, but unfortunately, the sun was just setting however, the table was bright enough for us to still dine at. Our server, Kate was really great. We did ask for the Keylime martinis to be made as mock tails but unfortunately, due to the liquor for that they use they were unable to do that.Not her fault, it's just with the restaurant. I had the lobster risotto and my husband had a tenderloin. Both were very good. We also shared the Burrata and Caesar salad, which we both enjoyed. The only thing is that when I ordered the beignets, the dough inside was raw so I didn't send that back but my husband loved the Keylime pie. Kate was a sweet and attentive server! I have had the pleasure of eating here before, both for dinner and lunch and the experience has always been amazing. This year we were able to grab a last minute breakfast reservation and once again I was so impressed with the whole experience. The boat ride over, coming within touching distance of the cruise ship in port was smooth and so easy. Once we got on the island, you are escorted to the restaurant. I asked for outdoor seating, yes even I know July in Florida! I would not do it for lunch as I would ask for patio then, but for breakfast and dinner it is the only way to truly experience the majestic views. Our waiter, Alex S, was polite and patient and his recommendation of the eggs Benedict was amazing. We never felt rushed or fast served. On the contrary we were told to relax and enjoy ourselves, I guess one of the pleasures of the early morning breakfast crew! We went to Lattudes for lunch March 3rd. It is always fun to take a boat to a restaurant. The ferry to Sunset Island was on time and the crew was fabulous. The waiter came to our table promptly to take our drink order. He answered gluten free menu questions for my fiancee. Unfortunately he did not get my appetizer order correct. I ordered the cerviche, not lobster bisque. So I watched my fiancee eat while I waited over 20 minutes for my appetizer. Both of our appetizers were delicious. Hey, mistakes happen. Our entrees came after over 45 minutes. I wanted yellowtail snapper, but they were out of it so they substituted grouper. The grouper did not pair well with the sauce, but it was okay. My fiancée ordered the steak medium. it came well done. Zero pink even in the center. We sent it back to get what she ordered. 25 minutes later her medium steak arrived, perfectly cooked. I was done eating my entree way before her steak arrived. Sorry, but eating appetizers and entrees separately is not what I expect from a restaurant that is supposed to be highly rated. Our waiter was not attentive, rarely at our table. I will not mention his name, perhaps he is new and not experienced. I heard from others that the food was excellent, but the service was sub-par. I rarely post negative reviews, and it's possible that the lunch crew is their "second string." Can't say enough about this restaurant. Food was very tasty. We had the wedge salad and it was plenty of food for two people. Then we tried the crispy salmon and lobster. Lobster with risotto was our favorite one. We had the best view and were able to see the sunset and take great pictures. The food wasn't impressionable. I found it rather average. In fact Antonia's on Duval was a lot tastier. Perhaps the exclusivity of the sunset key is the appeal but that's more to say you did it than it is about the food. However, the staff was delightful. Warm and friendly. Would I return for dinner on my next visit? If someone in my group wanted to have the experience. Lastly, I checked the menu online which had panna cotta on the dessert menu but at the restaurant I was told it hasn't been on the menu so the online menu doesn't seem to reflect the actual menu in rotation. Fantastic building with high-end materials and comfortable furnishings, probably the nicest place I've been in Florida. However, the experience needs improvement, starting with the table assignment process. Despite two opportunities to seat us by the ocean to enjoy the sunset, the staff failed to accommodate us. Instead, three ferry rides full of customers were seated in the far back and even the unlit interior. They were ~40% occupied. Just ridiculous. For clarity, I requested a waterfront sunset table and was told by the host that those tables were reserved for others who requested the same. Bizarre response. Ironically, those people never showed up, leaving all but one of the outdoor waterfront tables empty for two hours while we dined. The wagyu beef was marinated in an undisclosed teriyaki sauce, and the lobster was overcooked and mushy. While the service was excellent, the food quality was comparable to a Longhorn Steakhouse but with smaller portions. It was overpriced and underwhelming. I took my husband here for his birthday and oh my gosh, what an experience it was. First, we had to take a 2 to 3 minute ferry to an island off of Key West. Once docked, we had to walk through a neighborhood to get to the restaurant so I do not recommend wearing high heels, especially if they are not comfortable. Next the attire, I wouldn't say that you have to totally dress up but I also wouldn't be in jeans and a T-shirt either I wore a white sundress. My husband wore a button-down shirt with stylish shorts. Our waitress was amazing and knew the menu. We went with all her recommendations, and they were spot on the espresso martini, warm bread with latitude, butter, the Caprese salad, and the Wagyu steak and potatoes. I personally think that they put too much sauce on the steak, but that's my personal preference. I'm taking one star away because there was no music in the background.
