An absolute must visit when in Key West. Just make sure to secure a reservation if you want the outdoor seating but when we came around the holidays, it didn't seem super busy. It was very easy to find the complimentary ferry over to this place. Just put in "Sunset Key Ferry for Latitudes" in Google maps and the location is very accurate. Not far from the Opal Resort and you'll find a large board with menus for Latitudes right before you board. The ferry conveniently has both outdoor and indoor seating, perfect for those of us coming in at night and wearing dresses. The food and ambiance 100% met the price point. I was actually surprised that the lobster risotto's market price was only $54. Very tasty and plenty of lobster meat. The cocktails were great too. When you put in the reservation that it's for a birthday, the staff will stick a sparkler on top when you grab the key lime pie for dessert. The evening didn't start well. I was hosting three guests and wanted the evening to be special. We planned to go early and have drinks at the bar while watching the sun set. We were not allowed go over early and one of the people operating the ferry explained that when owners on the island pay a $7k per month HOA, they didn't want riffraff walking around on their island. We just wanted to go to the bar in a beautiful location and watch the sunset while having drinks. We didn't need to be insulted. As it turns out, it isn't possible to see the sunset in January from the dining area. The service was impeccable. The location was beautiful. The food was adequate. One of my guests felt ill after the meal and thought it might have been the key lime martini. I'd been wanting to go to Latitudes for a while. I treated myself to a nice dinner on Sunset Key on my last night in Key West and it was lovely! Your reservation time is the time you'll catch the ferry from Key West so keep that in mind. The boat ride over was gorgeous with great views! I was unfortunately seated around 5:30 in full sunlight but I was determined to stick it out in the heat to catch the sunset. Plenty of tables moved inside and they were pretty accommodating. I tried the cucumber cooler drink which was so refreshing and perfect for the hot day. I started with the Key West pinks shrimp app which were huge! Very fresh and delicious and the horseradish romanesco sauce was a good tangy contrast. For my entree I had the yellowtail snapper. I am always a shellfish over fish person but this was some of the best fish I have ever had! The pan sear was crispy and the glazes paired so nicely with the rice and fresh fennel salad. I ended with key lime pie and the sunset of course which was amazing! I had a res for 5:15 on Saturday and they did not mind me sticking around for 2+ hours which was nice. A truly magical place! We booked a week in advance to secure a table through opentable , hoping for a sunset dinner, but unfortunately, those were fully booked during our stay on the island. Latitudes is incredibly special, and I'm so glad that we were able to get a reservation for dinner while in Key West. We had a nice outside table with a gorgeous view of the water. Tiki torches and palm trees added to the ambiance. It felt quite magical. Our server, Ivo, was very attentive and helpful. We ordered some cocktails to start and enjoyed the warm bread basket while waiting for our entrees. Prices are high, but not outrageous, especially because the portions are generous. I had the shrimp carbonara, which was amazing. Others at the table enjoyed the beef tenderloin which looked fantastic, too. We ended the meal with key lime pie, which was not the best we've had, but it was still a nice way to end the meal. However, I had to remove stars due to a really unpleasant encounter with a female boat captain who was incredibly rude to us. Since you have to take a boat from main Key West to Sunsest Key, we didn't realize that your reservation time is the same as your boat departure time. We figured we would need to take the boat slightly earlier than our reservation time, which I'm sure happens constantly (and some signage at the boat dock or a note from OpenTable would clear that all right up). So we arrived a little early and were unceremoniously told that we were not at all welcome. I'll spare you the details, but the captain's unprofessionalism almost made us cancel our reservation. I have an idea that she took out some aggression on us because of a mistake she'd just made by leaving some people behind on the Sunset Key dock. When they say this is a destination restaurant they aren't kidding. Mainly because you have to take a ferry to get to your reservation ;) My sweet sister surprised me on my birthday trip to Key West with a gift certificate and a reservation at Latititudes on Sunset Key. It requires a free ferry ride over there to get to it as well. It was free and not that complicated if you aren't a guest. Note though that you DO need a reservation to even be allowed on the ferry as it is limited to guests on the island or people who have bought a beach pass for the day or who have a reservation for the restaurant. The ferry ride is only about 10 minutes or so. We did Lunch-on-the-Beach (which is still in a restaurant but on a sandy patio area overlooking the water with palm trees etc. Beautiful hotel and area for a bite! The menu is pretty seafood forward so keep that in mind if you have people in the party who are not seafood or fish eaters (like my husband). There are options however but before booking and going through the whole thing take a look at the menu first. We started our meal with the Caesar salad and added the Grilled Honey Chipotle Chicken. We used that as a starter and it was a very big salad (entree size). The salad was OK (could have used more garlic) but that chicken was YUMMY! I wasn't sure about adding it because they charged $15 for what is essentially one grilled chicken breast which made it a $30 Caesar salad. It was big but could have used a more robust dressing. For mains my husband had the Waygu burger which was well cooked and well seasoned. Definitely a big burger with a nice brioche bun. I had the Key West Shrimp Quesadilla which was delicious. The shrimp were plentiful and very fresh, the mushrooms in it were delicious and it came with a Salsa Verde which was very good. Both came with a choice of seasoned fries, truffle fries, an arugula salad, or homemade potato chips. We had the seasoned fries and they were very good. We closed with the Key Lime Pie (Yummy!) and some Limoncello. Very nice close to the meal! The service was exceptional and the team worked very well together, and the ambiance and atmosphere was lovely. They also offer inside restaurant space and it looked inviting and wonderful as well. We took a short boat ride from Key West to Sunset Key. We had a patio table with a great view of the ocean and a nice light breeze. We had a cocktail and ordered a grilled octopus appetizer, which was very tender and delicious. I had grouper and chorizo and my wife had the swordfish on a bed of relish with corn and peppers. My grouper was tender and perfectly seasoned and the chorizo was lightly spicy. The swordfish was also delicious and the relish really complimented the dish. Presentation on both was excellent. We finished by sharing a piece of Carmel cheese cake that was also fantastic. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. To top off the evening, the view of the sunset was incredible, with guests getting up to get photos. I highly recommend you schedule your reservation to coincide with the sunset as it was the highlight of an amazing evening. Such a fun experience! Honestly one of my favorite things we did in the Keys. Loved the whole experience from the boat ride to the most beautiful views. It really inspired us to come back and stay on Sunset Key next time. Like most things in the keys service was slower but the views were so beautiful we didn't mind. For food we did the conch bites with key lime aioli and lobster bisque to start. The conch flavor was so good but texture was just a bit chewy which is normal. We felt like we needed to try it while in the Keys but probably wouldn't order again just from a texture standpoint. The lobster bisque was great despite the hot weather. For our entrees we did the Cuban and crab+lobster cake. The highlight was definitely the sauce work all day. We finished with the key lime pie to go because we didn't want to miss the boat (about 30 mins between shuttles). Definitely don't skip the pie! I give four stars because the food, while good, wasn't our favorite of the trip. If it weren't for the whole experience we wouldn't necessarily be called to go back. read more

Where to begin in describing our experience at the Latitudes restaurant on Sunset Key?! Let me start by saying this is a really special experience if you are lucky enough to visit. You take a ~7 minute ferry from the marina at Opal Key to the dock on Sunset Key, the ride is brief but the ferry captain is a pro and provides a smooth sail! Next the bartender at Latitudes, Skip, is awesome. We arrived a bit early for our lunch reservation and he gave us great service and delicious cocktails while we waited. Not to mention he put in a good word and got us a prime table on the patio... Fantastic!! For lunch we ordered the Baja cracked conch, which was delicious. The Yellowtail Snapper and blackened Grouper sandwich. Both were fantastic and flavorful! We truly enjoyed our experience at Latitudes and on Sunset Key. Not worth the hype or the money My main teason is this. The wait staff is either understaffed or lazy . We are celebrating our anniversary and they seated us between a table of 9 teenage girls and another table of six teenage girls . Each table was loud and obnoxious. We could barely hear ourselves talk . There were plenty of two top tables with more privacy yet they seated us directly between these two tables. We asked to move and it took a good 20 minutes for the hostess to get her act together. I actually had to get up and go talk to her to get her attention that this matter needed to be resolved quickly so we could resume our anniversary dinner and actually order some food . We were moved to a corner table under the veranda which was a lovely table however the entire section in front of us now (on the sand ) was empty except for all of the dirty dishes and glasses and napkins on every single table were not cleared. So now we had a nasty view of dirty tables . There's no excuse for that at a restaurant of this caliber . The tables should have been cleared and reset even though they were not going to be seated again for the evening . The lack of attention to detail drops this to a two-star. My husband ordered the fish and it was so dry that somebody should have noticed before it left the kitchen. My tuna poke was very good and fresh. We were not offered a dessert menu and no mention was made that we were celebrating an anniversary. read more

There is a short boat ride to the restaurant so plan ahead to get there 8-10 mins before your reservation. The setting is absolutely stunning, but the food and service were a joke. 15 minutes just to see a server so we could place a mimosa order. 10 more minutes to receive the drink. 30 minutes before the server returned to take our meal order. 42 minutes for the food to finally arrive. I asked for extra hard-boiled eggs on my Benedict due to health issues. It arrived with regular poached eggs. I sent it back, and it took another 30 minutes to be corrected. The fruit platter was hot--clearly left under a heat lamp far too long. At that point, we didn't dare ask for a replacement or we might still be sitting there at dinner time. To make matters worse, the couple next to us had been seated before us... yet they still didn't receive their food until after we had finished ours. We heard the server apologizing to them and offering drinks for the delay. We'll keep to ourselves the comments they made after he walked away. We visited Latitudes on the last day of our honeymoon and words cannot describe the view, location, or food. Be sure you have a reservation as you cannot get on the ferry to the island without one! From the minute we walked in, you would've thought we were the only people there. The servers were beyond attentive, and gave great recommendations. Our blue crab tostadas were delicious and the key lime mustard on them were the perfect touch or sweet/sour. Both our entrees were to die for, I actually can't put into words how good they both were lol. The caribbean chicken sandwich was huge. We came here for a bachelorette party brunch but were disappointed that the breakfast/brunch menu stops at 11 AM. Luckily the lunch menu was good but I wish the brunch menu was available longer. The food was good but the service was slow... it took about 45 min to get our first round of drinks and then another 20 minutes or so to get our food. The view was incredible, I think I would recommend to others but hope they can add to their menu and work on getting drinks and food out sooner. read more

I don't usually leave reviews like this; on the contrary, I always try to share positive feedback to help businesses grow. However, this experience truly deserves to be told. On September 29th (my birthday, by the way), my partner and I had a reservation at this restaurant. When we arrived, we were seated indoors but asked for a table outside by the ocean. While waiting at the indoor bar, we were eventually seated at an outdoor table. I took a photo with my partner and left my phone on the table. During dinner, three staff members came by our table: a waitress who served water, a young waiter who brought the dishes, and an older waiter who took the order. At the end of the night, when I went to grab my phone, it was gone. I immediately told the staff, but no one knew anything, and the phone never appeared. I searched everywhere in distress, but the most upsetting part was the behavior of the bartender inside -- he got defensive, claimed we were accusing him, and spoke to me rudely and disrespectfully. It was an extremely uncomfortable moment witnessed by several people, and I left the place in tears. I still paid the bill and asked to speak with the manager, who simply said they would call if the phone turned up. No one has followed up or contacted me since. It's very concerning that a restaurant of this supposed level doesn't take basic safety measures, like checking their staff or having proper camera surveillance for guests' protection. What was meant to be a special night turned into a deeply disappointing experience. A staff that steals or shows no empathy in such a situation sadly reflects the true quality of this place. read more

We've been to Latitudes several times over the past ten years and recommended it to many people. We went this week and had a horrible experience. The food was as good as normal and the service was good until we complained about the noise. There were contractors with jack hammers and chain saws (or at least it sounded that way) at the house next door. It made conversation impossible. When we complained about it as did the five tables around us, we were assured that this doesn't happen every day. It's not normal. Well it was OUR day to enjoy our lunch at Latitudes and we couldn't. And it became clear that no one cared that we weren't having an enjoyable lunch. I believe it is a management problem and I contacted them and gave them a day to respond to my complaint. I haven't heard a word. It would have been easy for management to empower their employees either before the incident or after to provide some accommodation for their guests. But instead the staff apologized and assured us they could do nothing. A second thing I'll warn about it splitting bills there. The bill split was accurate, but the tip amount suggested was for the entire bill. That may be how their software works, but it would be helpful for the wait staff to point it out. Latitudes has always been my go to favorite restaurant in Key west. This was my fourth time visiting but will probably be my last. The instructions and ferry ride to the restaurant were pleasant. Hostess was professional and welcoming. The restaurant is beautiful in a beautiful romantic setting. It was not busy. Once seated, our waiter came by to introduce himself then walked away. It took approx 15 minutes maybe more for him to return and take drink orders. Drinks have always been so good but not this time! Our drinks were way below average. One drink was sent back and its replacement was not any better. Salad was good. We did not have appetizers. Fish dishes were over cooked and under seasoned. Not sure if it's that we visited during their slow season in September or that there has been a change in management but overall, the experience was disappointing. The quality of the food and service did not match the price and exclusivity. Hope they can get it together. read more
