On a random Saturday night my gals and I went to Culver City to eat. Found this place on instagram and it looked good. So right off the bat, there isn't any parking for this place. It's a garage lot for the entire little area. It's not free parking by the way. Anyway back to the restaurant, we waited for about 15 min at most which was nice considering she initially said 45 min. The waitress was super nice, the food was okay. Small portions for the prices we paid. I felt like our plates could use more flavor, they felt a bit bland. The ambiance was lowkey like a romantic casual if that makes sense. Low lighting with heaters outside and you're looking out to the small little buildings next to the stairs. Moral of the story, I don't think I'd go back here. Not because my experience was bad, primarily because I felt like the food was a bit over priced, and not really worth the price.
The ambience was magic, our server was very kind with great vibes! I'm only putting 4 stars because I expected little more hit with the food, but still was great and very tasty!
Happened to be in Culver City needing a lunch spot and this was a great find. First off it's in a great location with upper level patio view. The wood fired pizzas are legit. Excellent quality toppings and made just right. The Caesar salads were so delicious with rotisserie chicken. Delicate fresh and just plain tasty. The oysters the hot bread crudo and calamari were all excellent starters.
Nice setting atop the culver stairs. In and outdoor seating. Full bar. Maybe I was expecting a more old school steakhouse but it just didn't hit. Way too loud, and tv's on the walls. Staff was nice and attentive, but somewhat contrived, like they had all been told to watch and emulate the Bear. Food was solid, but standard. The steaks were cooked more than requested. I had heard good things, but maybe they are just relying on their previous reputation and non repeat customers. Want a total disappointment, but not going out of my way to go again.
I met my friend here after a long work week. We deserved martins, and Laurel Grill has a really good one. I've come here and just sat at the bar solo, and it's a great people watching spot. The bar is pretty spacious so I've never had any issues with finding a spot. We decided to split dishes to try more options - margarita pizza: this came out very quickly after ordering. We were surprised how quick. But I really enjoyed this pizza. It felt like it was light, as light as a pizza can be. Would definitely order again or try a different topping. - meatballs: these were huge. And very tasty. 10/10. - chicken: we were pretty full after the pizza and meatballs, but the chicken was pretty good. I don't know if I'd order this again. I'd probably try something else. But it hit the spot. Overall the food is great here. I didn't like the baby screaming in the bar, nor the creepy guy staring at us from the bar. But sometimes you can't get away from that.
Sat at the bar tonight, the bartender was not friendly at all. We also had to ask for everything... more water, silverware, dessert menu. Also they don't offer anything for birthdays or occasions... not even a free ice cream?? I think they should up their game because that is kind of lame considering the prices. Overall the bar is fine because it's clean and the lighting inside is still nice.
Updated review! On Saturday, May 9, I had the opportunity to try more items from the menu, and I'm so glad I did. The food and service were spectacular! We ordered the lemon pasta with grilled shrimp, pepperoni pizza, Caesar salad with chicken, hot bread, and the delicious cheesesteak egg rolls. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. We also enjoyed an assortment of tequila drinks, and everyone was happy with their selections. A special thank-you to our server, Cassidy P., who was absolutely amazing. She was attentive, friendly, and helped make our experience even better. I'll definitely be asking for her the next time I visit!
Located at the top of the Culver City steps, Laurel Grill is a nice restaurant with lots of casual food options like hotdog, burger, ribs, etc. it's created by the same owner as Laurel Hardware & Ysabel. It's gets busy and even with a reservation on Resy, we had to wait 10-20 mins to be seated. There are lots of booth tables which I love and have me a little bit of Houston's vibes. They have all the staples you want from a "new American" type restaurant and food is good overall. They don't have an actual kids menu but offer kids options like buttered pasta and grilled cheese. The best thing I had here is the apple pie - so good! But it comes smothered in caramel so ask for that on the side if you're not a caramel fan.

Sashimi was fresh and delicious! Yummy watermelon juice as well. Service was excellent and quick to get seated. Easy to make reservations online too. Always clean in here with plenty of seating!
It was a beautiful day in L.A. and a rooftop lunch with a view was the perfect way to spend a Saturday. I was joined by three beautiful ladies - Laurel, Lynn, & Te-See. Our server was a delightful girl named Cassidy. She took good care of us and had a great personality. We started with cocktails to toast our friendship: It's Giving-Paloma, Main Character (a riff on an espresso martini enhanced with vanilla syrup), Inverted Vesper (a twist on the classic with elderflower & grapefruit oil), and a Grey Goose Martini dry with Blue Cheese stuffed olives (for me of course). The menu contains lots of mouthwatering options. Our order consisted of: Hot Bread, Meatballs, Smoked Bacon & Pineapple Pizza, Spicy Vodka Pasta, House Salad, Caesar Salad, & two sides of Fries. I highly recommend starting your meal with the Hot Bread, which is baked in a wood-fired oven. It's pizza dough stuffed with mozzarella and topped with a light marinara. It is addicting. The meatballs were served on a bed of whipped ricotta and topped with marinara and shaved Reggiano. The House Salad was loaded with fresh veggies and came with a mustard vinaigrette. The handmade rigatoni was al dente and the spicy vodka sauce had a good flavor. It could have been spicier but it was still delish. Lynn said the Smoked Bacon & Pineapple Pizza was the best "Hawaiian" pizza she's had because it contained fresh pineapple and crispy smoked bacon. The fries were yummy and perfectly cooked. The vibe on the rooftop was chill and the view was lovely. (I was happy to see a well-mannered dog sitting at the table nearby.) The décor inside is also quite nice with sleek wood paneling and an open kitchen. A commercial for Ariana Grande's Cloud perfume was being filmed down in the courtyard the day of our visit. We got to see a parade of bubbles floating by. It was entertaining and a nice ending to our wonderful get-together. *Validated parking in the structure for the Culver Steps.
Met up with some ladies here for dinner! We made a reservation in advance. This place was popping when we arrived, super busy. It's up above the culver steps. Pretty twinkle lights throughout, a nice ambiance. You can park in the lot right ahead of it and they validate parking so you get 2 hours free. Huge restaurant inside, lots of seating. Seating in the outdoor patio as well. There's even a grand piano inside, so I imagine they have performances occasionally here too. I asked the waitress what she recommended between the Asian chicken salad and the Cajun shrimp salad. She said the Cajun shrimp so I went with that. It's not inexpensive at $28. It has a nice presentation! It was good and had a nice mix of ingredients, hazelnuts, orange, and Cajun-spiced shrimp. Decent amount of shrimp on the salad but not sure it's worth nearly $30. My friend got the Asian chicken salad and the portion was significantly larger and it was cheaper. Curious to have tried that one out. We also got the chips & guac which were decent but the guac was a little too on the creamy side for me. Staff was diligent at refilling waters etc but they also had an air of hoity-toityness. I did like the vibe of the restaurant though. Good for business meals or a date night or meeting up with friends.

We came here for the food. We ordered the ribeye. That was delivered really well, with good flavor and doneness to my liking. Also had their salad, pizza, carpaccio. Could not complain at all! All were good! Tbh, the waitstaff was excellent. The story goes, twas celebrating a special day and wifey reserved as such even writing it in the comment that there was a celebrant. But no acknowledgment when we got there. Most places would make an effort to greet, write a note, or just surprise ya. Here, oblivion. Before seating us, we had requested for a better seat respectfully since we were early enough and the seat given was slightly dark area with no direct sun or window. Felt sad and requested to be moved but it took finagling before they finally agreed. I digress. We've been here a few times and we enjoy it here. Just wish it gave us a better vibe with this visit, especially as a celebrant day. Anyhoo, would still come back when time permits. Hope all my future experiences here will be more pleasant and consistent and keep serving up good meals. Would I recommend? Yes, the food and ambiance. Service can be better. And just wish somebody can tickle the piano since nobody does every single time we have been here and we were told nobody does at any time. read more
The location and design of this restaurant is gorgeous. It has great views of downtown Culver City and during the holidays when my friend and I went it was very pretty all around. It gives off a very Hillstone property vibe. The service was very good and very attentive. The menu was fairly broad and you had a lot to choose from. I had steak (ok) and potatoes (not great) with a side of the pasta and my friend had the fish. We both thought the food was fine. Nothing really special. The dessert was probably our favorite course because it had a somewhat unique flavor profile that we look for. Other than that, nothing very memorable, except for when my friend went to the restroom and came back and announced that this was the best restroom she'd ever been to in all of Los Angeles. Looking for a cute place to for date night or girls night? This is your go to place. The vibes are super cute and I love the ambiance, looks so great at the night. I ordered the meat balls and the bread cheese (a special)! The meatballs were perfectly cooked and the sauce was savory. The bread cheese special was absolutely great, it was recommend my the serve and did not disappoint. The culver spicy vodka (added the shrimp) and it was a perfectly creamy and flavorful. In addition, ordered the Lemon pasta (added grilled salmon) it was delicious as well. The drinks were also very good, the emerald city was a bit too bitter for me however if you're looking for less of a sweet drink it's a drink for you. The gangster is perfectly level of sweet, wash favorite. This place blew me away, from the food to the service I would absolutely be returning! read more
TLDR: vibes immaculate, food average at best Sat outside and the vibes were amazing. Fires going and nice evening and I could bring my dog! Service was incredible. Staff was so nice and patient! Food: lots of options and a good variety but everything I ate was just okay. Pepperoni pizza: 7/10 Dough was good but a bit burned. I don't know how to describe this other than bland. Maybe it was the sauce but was just kind of okay. Cheesesteak spring rolls: 8.5/10 Unique! Full of vegetables too. The sauce was good. They were soggy though. Lacked a crisp completely. Lemon pasta: 5/10 I love a lemon pasta but this one was lemony it was sour. You got sick of the flavor so quickly. The pasta also was fully clumpy and stuck together. It was like taking bites of chunks. Bacon wrapped dates: 8/10 Unique and tasty but not as much of a flavor bomb I wanted it to be. Overall, all stars for the vibes and service. read more
Lovely!! Came here on a double date to celebrate our partners bdays and it was really nice!! Fancy enough for a special occasion but also very comfortable. The menu is very diverse só that's always nice. I LOVED the little cheese bread appetizers. My pasta was really good as well! What shocked me was the I loved the wontons as well... really good! I love Laurel Grill. The ambience, the vibe, the service and most important the food. Everything about this restaurant is amazing. We started off with cocktails, chips and guac and the spicy tuna tempura roll which I would highly recommend. The martinis generously poured and delicious. My cheeseburger was perfectly cooked and the fries were some of my favorite ever. My girlfriend got the lemon pasta and added shrimp and it was delicious. And for dessert do not skip their chocolate cake. Can't wait to go back! read more
My friends and I chose Laurel Grill for our book club dinner last Friday and wow... what an unexpectedly fantastic spot! I did not even know this restaurant existed until a friend suggested it and now I'm already planning my next visit. Even in the pouring rain, it was worth leaving the house for. Located right at The Culver Steps, the restaurant is conveniently located and yes, they even validate parking. We kicked things off with the stuffed bread, which my friend perfectly described as miniature personal stuffed pizzas. SO good. I ordered a mocktail...I think it was called the Gangster(?) and it paired beautifully with my entree: the gnocchi. I'm a gnocchi girl through and through (no, like literally) and this dish was delicious. Honestly, the menu was full of things I wanted to order... choosing just one was challenging for me! My friends enjoyed cocktails and then wine, and we all devoured our meals so quickly that dessert was in my future. I don't typically go for dessert, but on this evening, at this restaurant, the berry pie a la mode piqued my interest immediately. Smooth, warm, bright, and just perfect with a fully caffeinated coffee (I had to get home to quilt, of course!) Laurel Grill is officially on my Culver City favorites list for its great food, welcoming atmosphere, adequate service (just a minor hiccup), and a perfect place for a cozy dinner, rain or shine. We came in on a Thursday night and it was insanely slammed but 30 min wait for those wanting a table. My friend and I sat on the only seats available the low table by the bar to have some drinks and apps. The fires from the kitchen give it such a cozy feel. I want to try so many things off this menu but will return with my husband for a date night! The outside had fire pits with happy people having drinks. We had the sourdough baked Brie bread bowl, meatballs and crudo. Everything was SO good and our order came very fast. Just a wonderful place for ladies' night or date night or a group you name it. Will definitely return soon to start checking off more bread items baked by the fire and the charcoal oven entrees! read more
Beautiful decor! The ambiance is excellent. Probably the best part about this restaurant. The service is exceptional as well. I ordered the vodka pasta and some asparagus. Although both dishes are fairly simple, they were both delicious and exactly what I was craving. Definitely pricy but the inside is beautiful. read more

First of all the location is fantastic. Overlooking the renovated downtown Culver City plaza and Culver hotel. Easy underground parking and close to Expo light rail station. Great jazz playing in the background, both dark and private inside and bright and airy on the balcony. Night time jazz with an elevated Piano Bar centrally located. As far as the food. American fusion with amazing choices. We had a delectable Chinese chicken salad with Cheesesteak egg rolls. Both outstanding in flavor and visual appeal. Our main entree was the lovely glazed Kurobuta bone in pork chop.. tangy, savory and just outright delicious. Served with a cold sesame noodle. We added a coal fired whole cabbage. It was a sleeper! Sweet and tasty and smoky from the outer char. Great wine and specialty drink selections. Please come and visit! This is my new favorite spot! read more

Laurel Grill feels very much in the Hillstone/Houston's vein - polished, consistent, and just plain enjoyable. The food is excellent, and the service is incredibly attentive, both from the waitstaff and managers. The space itself is warm and comfortable, and being on the second floor gives you some nice views of downtown Culver City depending on where you're seated. After a few visits, I haven't had a dish I didn't like. The cheeseburger is a standout - if you can't get that right, you're in trouble, but Laurel absolutely nails it. On our last visit, we tried the apple pie with ice cream, and it was memorable, a clear sign that desserts here aren't an afterthought. read more
My second time dining here and everything was great. This time we shared a veggie pizza, vodka rigatoni & Caesar salad. Paired with a glass of their Pino Noir. It's a bit pricey but the food is great quality. We sat outside this time and the atmosphere is lovely for a summer night. Inside is great too. Our server Hailey was SO helpful and personable. Parking: Take your pick of downtown Culver parking structures or meters. Experience: We came for dinner on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was full! Service and vibes were 10/10. The restaurant was super cozy and I loved the booth seating. It kind of reminded me of a more aesthetic Hillstone. The food was just okay. Everything on the menu sounded good, but nothing tasted amazing and it just felt a little expensive, even for LA standards. The pies were good though! I think the move would be to come here for drinks and sit outside by the fire pits. read more
Date night here is a very good date night. Ambiance is dim light, with an amber/orange glow in the dining room from lamps. Booths are super comfy and lowered, you almost feel like you're sinking into the floor. We loved it. Started off with Negroni and my date got an Old Fashioned, both were delicious and packed a good punch ($18 per). Started with the Calamari, perfectly fried, hot, and the remoulade it comes with is perfect. So creamy and tangy, a really good bite. Got the 14 oz. ribeye to split, side of broccolini and fries. Fries sucked. Broccolini was delicious, well charred and seasoned nicely with lemon and spices. And the steak was phenomenal, can taste the quality, perfect fat to lean radio, and perfectly cooked (medium rare), comes slathered in butter and on hot plate so stayed warm while we ate it. Really good and well worth the $62. Size was more than enough for 2. I enjoyed Laurel Grill way more than South Bev/Honor bar. Top tier ambiance and food combined for an amazing 3 hour date. As always such a pleasure dining at this fine establishment... The service is always impeccable. The food is always amazing and that's why we can't stop going back over and over and over and over again we go back to Laurel Grill. The vibe is on point and I can't lie. I love the fireplace love the outside area. It's just an amazing place to check out like if you really look at the details in this spot, you can see all of the beautiful architecture that is one of the reasons we continue to return. Great surprise at the Steps in Culver City! Upstairs with a great bar and dining room. Bartender made great suggestions and we sampled. Brisket Dip was good. Passed on the Mac & Cheese but enjoyed the Hot Bread. Parking in the structure below on site can be tight or park across in the Trader Joe's structure. read more

Owned by the laurel hardware and laurel supply group. They validate parking. Great for lunch or dinner seating at the bar on the patio or indoors. Big wrap around bar. Honestly this spot is good! It's not the BEST spot in town for food but it's overall very solid across the board. There are fire pits outside you can sit and wait for your table at and drink. The pizzas are good especially the pepperoni. And the real star of the show is the apple pie. Literally the best apple pie in the world. Bar is decently large so if you just want a drink I'd also recommend stopping by. read more

I had an incredible experience. I sat indoors but near the open window, which offered a great breezy, open-air feel. Service was attentive and prompt--truly top-notch. To start, the Cucumber/Watermelon drink was a refreshing, light palate cleanser. For the mains, I went with the Ribeye and the Charred Broccolini. The steak was absolutely divine, cooked to a perfectly juicy medium-rare. The broccolini was a pleasant surprise; the lemon chili glaze was unique and different, but still tasty. I think the lemon taste to it threw me off a bit. Still a great side that felt both healthy and indulgent. I later moved to the outdoor lounge area (note: no food service outside!) for a post-dinner cocktail. I tried the mezcal-pineapple drink (served in a martini glass). It was decent, though not a standout favorite. My only real disappointment was the order of fries to go. They were unfortunately bland, plain, and a huge let-down (mind you I ate them fresh). I regret not going with the Mac and Cheese! However, the overall ambiance, stellar service, and the quality of my meal easily overshadowed that minor flaw. I have to start by shouting out our server Jen who could not have been kinder or more helpful. She recommended the Bacon Wrapped Dates as our starter and ultimately they stole the show. Every bite of them was as good as the last and I was sad when they were gone. We followed these up with the Smoked Bacon & Pineapple Pizza, which was the perfect size for two people to share--and delicious! If you're not seated by it, be sure to take a stroll by the main dining hall. It's situated right next to the kitchen which is completely open and visible to guests. This layout adds to the very fabulous (yet accessible) environment Laurel seems keen on establishing. Reservations encouraged but we walked in and were seated at dinner time on a Friday immediately! read more

We had a really nice experience overall at Laurel Grill in Culver City. It was a busy Friday night, and the wait was about 45 minutes, which felt pretty reasonable given how packed it was. The food definitely made it worth it. We ordered the salmon and the spicy vodka pasta, and both dishes were delicious well-prepared, flavorful, and satisfying. The only downside was the seating. We were placed right in the corner near the entrance, and there was someone waiting for a table standing very close by, right next to me, which made the space feel a bit cramped and less comfortable than we would have liked. That said, the quality of the food and the overall vibe were great. With a bit more attention to seating, this would easily be a top-tier experience. Especially because of the location. I live 10 minutes away and it is 2nd floor of the steps so it's pretty nice. read more

If you want a quiet dinner, go somewhere else. It is busy, bustling and LOUD. But it is also fun, interesting people watching, and delicious. It is located on the upper level of a nice building in the center of downtown Culver City. When we were told we would be seated outside I was disappointed at first. But it was beautiful with sparkly lights on the large trees and a great view overlooking all the action of downtown. And best of all it was quiet. It was a little chilly outside but there were plenty of heat lamps making it comfortable. The food and service were both awesome, especially given the size of the place and how busy it was. We had the Mediterranean Sea bass, rotisserie chicken, an ahi tuna frites and all 3 were absolute delicious. The portions are on the large side so we all had food to take home. I have a feeling that it is busy every night of the week so make reservations well in advance. read more
A really nice ambiance and can be casual or romantic. Atmosphere is pretty loud and lively (at least on weekends). Great date night spot. Food was a pleasant surprise because everything we ordered was good with different flavor profiles. Started with the crudo which was fresh and paired well. Tried the margherita pizza (add the Calabrian chile "hot honey") -- so good! Mediterranean sea bass was subtle but tasty, which came with red quinoa and spinach. Lemon pasta is a great addition to the sea bass -- delicious. Drinks were fun and strong. Our server, Jazmine, was wonderful and very interactive and honest on recommendations. read more
Service and ambiance of this place is what makes it special. The inside is decorated very nicely and a great location in downtown culver where it's central to everything. I will say the food was a bit lacking compared to the rest. Ordered the prime rib which is a special on certain days but isn't as juicy as other places and lacked seasoning. The mushroom side I ordered was unusually strong mushroom flavor even when I love mustooms. Asparagus were good and thick cut and the calamari is average, nothing to complain about or compliment. From my first visit, to my last (yesterday), I'm so impressed with the consistency of service, atmosphere, libations and great food. The menu isn't an over-the-top either. Easy, tasty options...mixed proteins and tons of veggie choices. I have a tendency to over visit a great place, and I'm being very diligent to NOT over do it. But I easily can here at Laurel Grill. If you DO visit and not experience the "loo", you've missed something very special as well. Anyway....check it out!! I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more
Laurel Grill in Culver City is from the same team as laurel hardware. The spot is solid and the service is fantastic. The ambience is very nice it has an upscale vibe. Love this place! It's in such a fun location and the inside is beautiful. I love being able to peak into the kitchen where they make their pies and rotisserie chicken. The bartenders and staff and so kind. I love sitting at the bar and chatting! Everything is so delicious, but the apple pie is genuinely the most delicious apple pie I've ever had. It has an amazing caramel drizzle in the crust is perfectly flaky. I'll definitely be coming back again! read more

We were walking by the Culver Steps on our day off when we realized we hadn't been to Laurel Grill yet, so we went and were absolutely not disappointed. We were seated on the patio overlooking Culver City proper with our pup, and received warm and excellent service throughout from Cearra. The menu, while varied and creative, was not overly extensive. Drinks were well-made and food was artisanal. I highly recommend the salmon poke. We will return for a proper date night dinner. read more

Great first visit here on New Year's Day. We made a reservation via Google Maps/Resy and only had to wait for the guests ahead of us to be seated before we were shown to our table. The thing that made a great first impression was that the hostess acknowledged us as she showed the other guests to their table. These little touches make all the difference to us when dining out. We loved the warm floor-to-ceiling wood paneling, fun artwork on the walls, cozy booths with thickly padded seating, and the expansive open kitchen. Not forgetting the deliciously intoxicating aroma of roast chicken and steak. Service was very professional and friendly. All servers were impeccably dressed, with their white aprons. A lot like the South Beverly Grill, but this restaurant is a lot brighter with its large picture windows and a tad louder. Food portions were generous and each ingredient was thoughtfully prepared and well-paired in the various dishes. We got the Sashimi and Hot Bread to start and were wowed by how fresh the fish was. The Hot Bread seemed like mini pizza bites. If you're not already getting the pizza here, they're a great taste teaser! The mozzarella did not disappoint! For entrees, we got the rotisserie chicken and the grilled sea bass. Both excellent. I got an extra side of charcoal roasted cabbage, which was sooo soft and melty, but it wasn't really needed, seeing how much food we already had. I don't think so. Even though the menu reminds me of Houston's by Hillstone, the Internet lists Laurel Grill as a Dean McKillen restaurant (a competitor).
