Excellent service by Latarsha. Just a warm and welcoming experience. We had croissants and paninis and drinks and snacks, and everything was enjoyable. Toasted and warmed well. Great atmosphere and especially service.

Came here after the Rise Pilates and it was crowded. The wait was a little long than usual because it's under a hotel. The coffee I got was an expresso crema shakerato and it was really good. Usually I don't like my coffee too creamy or think but this was just right. The milk is froth and the coffee is shaken up. It was small cute place that had some seating like high tops and tables.

If you are at Chicago Airport, Lavazza Cafe is a great place to rest, take calls, or wait for your flight. The coffee is good, and they offer pizza and a variety of other food options. I really enjoy spending time there!!

Honestly I was not at all expecting the experience I had. Service was super quick and the staff member was super patient with me for being my first time. Their latte macchiato was honestly the best coffee drink I've had in a while and was the perfect blend for those that prefer a less sweet latte. They had a lot of great pastries and were very reasonably priced, this is the perfect Starbucks alternative that perfectly showcases Italian coffee.

I love lavazza coffee and when I saw that there was a cafe in chicago I had to come. On a busy day in the Windy City, lavazza expressions offers a nice escape from the hustle of the big city and transports you to Italy. The espresso macchiato was phenomenal, it was a double shot of espresso with a little bit of foam on top. The cappuccino was huge and tasted of the highest quality. definitely come here over any Starbucks or Dunkin' Donuts that may be around in the city because trust me, it's worth it

I love to come here and relax with my thoughts and a good cup of Italian hot drinking chocolate with a chocolate croissant. The quiche here is absolutely delicious and all the croissants and pastries are baked fresh every morning by the pastry chef at the Drake hotel. The vibes are always positive and Galdina always greets the guests here with a huge smile and excellent service. Such friendly vibes from start to finish

The coffee was good but overly sweet. Milk choices were only skim or whole. We ordered a bagel with plain cream cheese and they substituted it with chive cream cheese without asking us. When we asked about it they did offer to get us a plain one from the hotel restaurant. The location however was very clean and had plenty of seating.

What a great coffee shop in the Drake hotel. Excellent pastries and espresso. I felt like I was in Rome. Definitely try this place

Nice coffee shop and cafe attached to The Drake Hotel. Good breakfast paninis for $6-8, depending which one you order, one with bacon is more expensive than the cheese & egg. Several assortments of muffins and pastries. Fruit is overpriced as well as juice, so recommend going down the street to Trader Joe's or Walgreens for more reasonable fruit and juice options. Staff is extremely friendly and accommodating!

Be ready to wait because for some reason everyone decided this was a hot spot. Forget getting there after 9am if you want to wait less than 45-60 minutes. The tables are jammed together, the service is SLOW and the food is expensive and really not all that special. Save time and money and go somewhere else.

I like to get to know the vibe of the city where I'm visiting. I was immediately impressed by the semi industrial look of this particular location. I have since found out that the locations have their own unique decor, from what I was told. I heard that they bake their own pastries and roasted their own coffee beans. So that was neat and I tried both. I had a chocolate croissant, which was absolutely delicious. For my drink I ordered the spicy mocha, which is like a Mexican mocha with a little bit of extra spice added. It was very good. However, I ordered it hot and received lukewarm coffee. This is the second time I've gone to a coffee shop and the coffee wasn't piping hot. I don't know what this trend is. But anyway, the coffee tasted great, otherwise. The location was fairly busy for a Friday mid morning. Several people were in there with their laptops, working away. Oh, I must mention the music. Whoever chose the music that day had excellent taste!

Pulled up just before 6:30 AM on a weekday and there were just a few folks ahead of us in line, but service is quick. Cake donuts were actually pretty solid here; the Blueberry Cake Donut was the best item, super soft and moist with a good amount of berries throughout. The Pistachio Cake Donut for some reason was texturally firmer and drier than the other. Unfortunately, the fried donuts were all misses. The dough was just really dense and none of the toppings really hit. The Glazed Donut just made me sad that the dough was bad and the bacon on the Maple Bacon Donut wasn't crispy, so you got a cold, chewy, greasy bite that wasn't super pleasant. The chopped dough pieces in the Apple Fritter were also oddly firm instead of soft. For a place with rave reviews, I was pretty bummed by the donuts, but maybe the fried chicken sandwich is where it's at.

They warm it up for you too, it's nice to have in the morning with coffee or tea. I also tried their chili crisp egg bowl on the day I left Chicago, which did store and travel well all the way to the airport where I had it about 1-1.5 hours later -- it was very tasty, and not too spicy (but had a strong kick!). The texture of the food was particularly nice and even though it was $15 which is a little high, I was certainly full. Typical bruschetta you see has tomato, which was what I was hoping for when I ordered it, but there were no tomatoes at all. And the gnocchi dish... don't even get me started. The texture made me think I was eating raw dough from my baking sessions. It looked promising when the dish first came out, but the mozzarella cheese on top was chewier than the gnocchi itself. The gnocchi would just become a strange mash when poked with by my fork. The gnocchi was overcooked which resulted in a mushy paste when it should have been pillowy and have a slight resistance when bitten into. We ordered the Vaca Frita, which is basically pan-fried shredded beef. Honestly, it was quite good -- you get protein and fat from the beef, plus some fiber from the vegetables. Instead of the fried potatoes that are so common in American meals, it came with fried plantains. It also included a mix of rice and black beans, which became savory and satisfying once everything was combined together. This is exactly what I mean when I say Cuban food works well for a Chinese palate: a balanced meal should have everything -- carbs, fiber, protein, and fat. My friend also ordered the Cafechera, which was something quite special: thinly sliced steak with a roasted aroma from coffee grounds. It was my first time trying anything like that, and I really liked it. Apparently, the leftover grounds from my pour-over coffee can do more than just sit in the fridge absorbing odors from now on. I did not try the Steak Chimichurri. My friend had been walking all day and was starving, and the dish disappeared from the table in less than five minutes. I suppose that counts as a compliment to the chef. The Shrimp Ceviche Salad was also very good, though this may be one of those dishes that can confuse some Chinese diners at first because the acidity is quite strong. Back home, we are more used to salads with creamy dressings, Thousand Island, or vinaigrette. A dressing dominated by lemon or lime juice can be difficult for some of my companions who have only recently arrived in the US, but personally, I loved it, haha. The restaurant is not very large, but it has both tables and bar seating. Whether you just want to grab a quick sandwich or come by in the evening for a drink, it feels like a very good fit. Unfortunately, we did not get to have a drink that day because the restaurant was closing early for Independence Day. All the tableware in my photos was also in pickup mode, which was a shame -- no chance to take any pretty food photos this time.
