I have been coming to Lazy Days for 15+ years and it is (was) one of my favorite places in Islamorada. Last night a friend and I sat at the downstairs bar around 7PM and ordered (2) Tito's & club seltzers and appetizers. The drinks tasted funny so we asked for a top off of cranberry juice which didn't help & I had the gentleman next to me take a sip and he agreed it was 'off'. Thinking the bartender put in tonic instead of club soda, I finally got his attention (by walking to the end of the bar where he was 'hanging out') and he disagreed w/me that the drinks were made wrong, made a snarky comment on what do you want me to do about it and finally made 2 new drinks, which tasted just as bad as the first. When he finally checked on us again, I said they were still not right, please taste it or check the club soda and he refused - I asked if he could just bring us 2 waters (our food had been delivered by now) and he totally ignored us & walked away, so we ate our entire meal w/nothing to drink. I asked for a 'to go' box for our leftovers, which he eventually brought, but threw one of our dishes in the garbage before I had a chance to pack it up. He charged us for both drinks even though we left them full on the bar (and I had again asked the man next to me to taste, he agreed there was something 'off' and he wouldn't drink it either). This young man should be in the back of the house washing dishes, not serving as a bartender, and if I see him at the bar in the future I will go elsewhere for the evening. The food was excellent, as usual, but this bartender (he would not give me his name) is a very poor representative of this very fine restaurant. read more

Came about 8:15 and the hostess wouldn't even look at us, kept conversing among themselves and when finally spoke acted annoyed we were there and told us to try upstairs. Never have a felt unwanted as a paying restaurant guest. Upstairs staff was much friendlier! Oysters Rockefeller were great and so was the key lime pie. The broiled seafood platter fish of the day lacked much flavor but scallops were delicious. Our sweet server was fantastic! read more

In the area looking for some homes and that always makes me hungry. This spot has always been a favorite of mine. Where do I begin. The location is perfect. So many choices: eat inside in ac, patio area or by the beach with the sand and ocean close by. The service has a always been great. The drinks taste great and the alcohol is not watered down. This place is always full but it's definitely worth the wait. The outside area is our favorite and the decor is very lay back. The food is always fresh and good portions. The fried shrimp is crispy and delicious. The calamari was fried perfectly. The fried fish was absolutely perfect. It was devoured. The fresh onion soup was great as well. The tuna was on point and fresh. Everything in this establishment is a winner. We can't wait to come back. We highly recommend this place. read more

Have been here many times and honestly, didn't understand why my husband loved it so much. Last time we were here, the service was terrible as was the food. Tonight completely changed my mind. The service was amazing. We never had to ask for anything, drinks were refilled, etc. The waiter didn't hover over us either. And the food was outstanding. The tuna was a lil overcooked but it was still great. I opted for healthy veggies but got cauliflower doused in a cheese sauce. The salad that almost didn't come was my veggie side. The jalapeño margarita was pretty good but was weak. My bf had a chicken meal and he said it was tasty and the fries were crunchy good. All in all I'd recommend and come back here. read more

A beautiful restaurant in islamorada. We were on our way to Key West and decided to stop at this gem. It has a lovely view of the water and many different options for dining. You can sit inside, outdoor on the patio, or right on the sand. I opted for the broiled seafood platter and my husband got the blackened yellowfin tuna. I must say, he won the dinner war tonight. My platter was still scrumptious, but lacked some flavor. The catch of the day portion was a little tough but the scallops, shrimp, crab cake, and lobster were delicious. I avoided the butter to attempt to be healthy which likely could have added some flavor as well. It's well worth the stop, a bit on the pricy side but you are paying for fresh seafood. The last 2 times I visited FL had a pleasure to come to this place. The first time was more memorable coz we had a cute blonde server who was just delightful. Second time, a boring kinda rudish guy. What a difference ... Best shrimp cocktail for sure for sure!!! Must try. Can't get any fresher and its jumbo ;) Their daily fishes are also to die for, there are many ways they could prepare it for you but our fav was the lazy way, creamy sauce with tomatoes, scallion and Parmesan cheese. My gosh. Such a perfect way to have your fresh fish. You can pick 2 sides, I like their salad and of course French fries. I absolutely love this restaurant! The view, the drinks, the service, the food are all incredible! This is our go to lunch every time we are in Islamorada! You cannot beat the views on their second level patio. I always get the salad that has the fruit and coconut Key West style shrimp in it. it comes with two cheese sticks as well so it's always filling. I'm not normally a fan of coconut shrimp, but I love theirs. It comes with a dipping sauce. I think it's a mango chutney, but I'm not sure that's the correct name for it, it's also delicious. my husband and I always get the frozen drink that has three colors, but I forget what it was called. You can even eat right on the beach at this restaurant in the sand. I can't get over the view this restaurant has. This is definitely one of my happy places in the keys. Lazy Days is obviously a staple in the Florida Keys. Now I know why. We planned a rehearsal dinner from Kentucky with Ryan Simpson for my son's wedding. Ryan was great - friendly and professional. He helped us plan a limited yet exquisite dinner menu with seafood, fish, beef and chicken options with salad and sides. We rented a portion of the balcony for 26 guests. It was a lovely time! The view, the food and the service were fantastic! It's a very busy place, so make sure to make a reservation! Despite the amount of people, it still felt like my boyfriend and I had a private area to enjoy our meal and gaze into each other's eyes hahaa. The food tasted so fresh and was great quality. I will say though, that the conch fritters were mostly breading- but it's okay, the flavor was there. All in all the food was great! We took our fresh catch to be prepared at Lazy Days after several recommendations from friends who had done the same . Excellent preparation and presentation as we chose spicy lazy days style with jalapeño , Gus style with almonds and grilled . We had caught the Spanish mackerel and mutton snapper earlier in the day thanks to Back Country charters . The banana bread is killer as is the key lime pie . Sides are adequate but the start is the fish ! I would t order just grilled fish , use special preps or blackened or broiled . After all these years, Lazy Days is still my top 5 restaurants for lunch on the way to Key West. Where else can you dine al fresco with beautiful views of the ocean which is literally just steps away? I know there are a lot of places in the Keys, but the vibe here is so laid back and the food is spectacular. Must-haves are the Lazy Clams, Conch Ceviche, and of course, can't go wrong with either the Coconut Fried Shrimp or the perfectly crisp Conch Fritters. And for the first time, we tried the Baked Brie. We were not even aware this was a "thing" in the Keys but boy, we were so impressed with the quality. Piping hot, gooey, and very flavorful. If you're looking for a seafood feast with amazing views, make sure to stop here on the way to or back from Key West. They don't take reservations so come right before lunch and opt for the balcony or the shaded ocean side seating :) read more

In Islamorada for the day, stopped here for lunch. Love the location, had lunch right near the water (they have indoor & outdoor dining). The food was okay, but not great (really good fries I must say, but we weren't there for the fries). Our waiter started off great, but fell off quickly. It was very slow (a Tuesday afternoon), and we had to go up to him to get our bill 15 minutes after he'd already cleared our table, he was fully engaged in conversations with his co-workers while we were waiting. I was very disappointed with Lazy Days. The general reviews are pretty good for this place and I'm not sure why. We asked for the key lime martini. Don't have it. How about the colada? Don't have it. I'll have the catfish. Don't have it. Chargrilled oysters? Only boiled. What do you have?? Checked the menu before going and that's why we drive 2 hours. The food we wound up eating--sandwiches--were bland, at best. Conch fritters came with Ragú sauce out of the bottle. Service was slow and awkward. I will give it 2 stars for the views. Lazy Days is walking distance from where we are staying and my husband loves their mozzarella sticks so we decided to walk over the other evening. The perk of Lazy Days is by far the ambiance and being able to sit on the water. To be perfectly honest, I found the food to be only okay this time. The service wasn't all that great either. This is the second time we have eaten here although, the previous time we ate inside and the service was amazing. This time, sitting outside it was different but I didn't really care because it was so gorgeous outside. My husband loved his food though both times so I could just not be ordering the right things. For example my son's fries were outstanding and the mozzarella sticks were really good but the crab cake was super wet and didn't seem to have a lot of crab meat. We waited a hour and a half and did not even get our food. The "manager" on staff had nothing to say but excuses. We have been coming here for 10 years and will absolutely never come back. We took our own caught yellow tail snapper and yellow jacks here to have cooked 1/2 fried and 1/2 grilled. It was perfectly cooked and the baked potatoes and salads were excellent. Food here is unpretentious but has good flavors. Fresh conch ceviche is very good and light. The fresh sesame tuna is delicious. The best was probably the grilled mahi sandwich, very fresh and seasoned perfectly. I guess the key word here has been fresh.... everything tasted like it just came out of the water. I found this spot on Yelp and it was walking distance from our hotel so we headed over. We were seating right away, drink orders were taken and a bread basket was delivered - the first indication that something wasn't right should have been the banana bread loaf in the bread basket, but DH loves BB and he said it was decent. We asked our waitress which appetizer was the tastiest and she advised the calamari, so we ordered it. A plate of rings that was 100% from a frozen bag was delivered to the table...Strike two I ordered the shrimp diablo and DH had a seafood combo - what was delivered to our table looked yummy... Unfortunately the shrimp in the shrimp diablo were overcooked and rubbery and tasted freezer burned - there was also no diablo, it was so bland, not a hint of heat and the sauce was exactly the same sauce that came with the calamari =( The seafood combo was HORRIBLY overcooked! Every bit of seafood was like a rubber band. Seriously, we were in the keys and couldn't get fresh seafood!! So disappointing. This is a regular stop for dinner when im in the keys. Never disappoints! Again disappointed with the battered fries but otherwise it was fabulous. Fresh oysters with a selection of amazing sauces. Delicious grouper sandwich. Ceasar salad with anchovies! Conch ceviche which was more of a conch salad but was delicious! Also enjoyed the gator. As always, the Service was amazing and friendly.
