Came back for my wife's birthday after having such a great experience a couple months ago, and this place still delivers. The ribeye was just as good as we remembered, cooked as requested and flavor was cool. The shrimp was much better this time around but the cream of spinach and spring rolls did not hit the spot for me. The drinks and food here are INCREDIBLE! To drink, we had a variety of cocktails: Gin Martini, Smokey Diablo, Furious George, and Negroni. The martini and Negroni were classics well done, and the Furious George was unique and delicious! It does have a kick, so be warned. To eat, we had the blackened ribeye, the grass fed filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, and the ahi tuna. The steaks and tuna were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The accompaniments paired well the with proteins and were tasty. To finish our meal, we had the flourless chocolate torte and the tiramisu. Both were rich and yummy, a perfect end to the meal. Wow wow wow! I had reservations for dinner we were seated immediately. They were pretty busy so I suggest reservations. The ambiance is nice and dim. Danielle was our server and she was absolutely AMAZING. I had the pear mocktail which was really good. Started with bread which came out warm and was good. To start I had the chili prawns. Honestly I couldve had that as my main it was soooo good and the prawns were huge. I also tried the chicken spring rolls they were okay. For entree I had the salmon it was okay but the mash and creamed spinach where amazing. I dont eat short rib but when I tell you this short rib was cooked to perfection literally melts in your mouth. Danielle brought out a blueberry cheesecake to celebrate which was nice and it was really good. Hubby and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were able to make a reservation the day before after having to pivot from our original plans. We were seated in a booth, and our server was incredibly sweet and friendly right from the start. I think the host may have misread the reservation notes because we were initially given "Happy Birthday" menus. We mentioned it to our server, and she quickly brought us new menus that said "Happy Anniversary." A small detail, but very much appreciated. We started with the calamari, which was delicious. Our steaks had great flavor, and for sides we ordered the loaded mashed potatoes and the loaded mac and cheese. In hindsight, getting two "loaded" sides was probably too much. The mashed potatoes were good, but I think I would've preferred a simple baked potato. The loaded mac and cheese, however, was incredible and something I'd absolutely order again. At the end of dinner, we were brought a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. The only downside was that the bar was directly behind our booth. My husband and I had heard good things about Forbes and it's been around for so long that we finally sent the kids off with the parents and had a much needed date night. The ambience is fancy but it seems a little too dark, unnecessarily dark. The service is fantastic as expected for the price point. We both got drinks and they were good. The calamari was good, not the best I've had but definitely solid. Here's where the loss of stars comes in. We both ordered dry aged New York steak and I didn't realize until the next day when we tried the leftovers that only my husbands had been dry aged. The taste was so different and his was so much better. I felt completely robbed by this mistake. It didn't help that the dry aged is also more expensive and I got the wet aged cheaper one but still paid for the dry aged. At this price point, mistakes of this magnitude do not seem acceptable. Even though the food was good, this left such a bad impression on me that I feel I never want to go back. Getting a date night isn't easy for us so I am severely disappointed. For starters we went with the garlic Parmesan seasoned Fried Calamari. This appetizer was AMAZING! Me and my wife then split a cowboy cut 20oz bone in ribeye and the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were massive! The steak was delicious and so tasty. They split the dishes for us which was so kind. But let me tell you the star of the show! The butter cake was nice and warm and moist with the gelato vanilla ice cream on top! WOW! A few complaints were that the restaurant was distractingly loud. Also, the parking was very bad. Came here Thursday night to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. We have been to Forbes a few times but were greeted warmly by our waitress Yaren. Yaren was so attentive throughout our evening and patient with taking our orders. She asked us if we came for a special occasion and Yaren surprised us with a Happy Anniversary dessert just as we were about to order one. This interview is long overdue. I was here recently on 2 occasions, Mother's Day and a Retirement Celebration for my dad. Both times we were lucky enough to have Danielle as our server. I have to say that I personally loved the service. We had such a good time that moving forward we will be asking to be seated in Danielle's section as she gives excellent service and is genuinely happy! We were seated a bit early at 4 PM and it was nice and quiet both times. The food was amazing from beginning to end. My dad is someone who likes to salt everything and during both visits to FM he didn't salt anything and said that it was very seasoned and flavorful, as is. Usually my dad complains about everything. Consistency is critical to a restaurant's long term success. Over the years we'd give Forbes a B/B- for service consistency, but with our last visit we experienced a major breach of trust on a truly special occasion. A family member came from out of town, and while she was here we decided it was a good time to celebrate our mother's 94th birthday which is right around the corner. We made our reservation for 4 at 5:45p in order to get mom home before dark--being out after dark makes her anxious. This meal was especially bittersweet as mom has terminal cancer, and we all know she doesn't have many good outings left in her. Alas, it took them over 2 hours to get our entrees to us. We saw other tables sat, serve and leave before our entrees ever made it to our table. When we inquired where our food was, our waitress while friendly and pleasant, offered a vague excuse and dashed off. I couldn't tell if she forgot to load our order into the system after our salads or if the kitchen goofed up, but we were aggravated. When the food finally arrived after 8pm, one of the steaks was well done when it should have been medium rare. We asked for it be re-fired and it came back mere moments later. Great. But why in the heck did it take so long for our steaks to take so long in the first place then? We didn't dally eating our meal when it finally arrived and we left the restaurant at 8:30, well after dark. Mom was definitely anxious. We will not be back. Should this discourage you? Maybe not. This may have been a unique error. Honestly over the years of service for us, as I have said, is in the B/B- range. But consistency is key, and they have lost my trust. For the $500 we spent, we'll find other nice steak houses to spend our money at. read more

The Mac and Cheese was so creamy and flavorful, i highly recommend trying ! Calamari was delicious as well. Fried and seasoned well. Calamari is usually our go to appetizer so i don't think it was the best i've ever had, but it was still very good. It came with the traditional sauces: tartar and marinara. Both sauces were good. Brussel Sprouts: You can't tell in the photo but the brussel sprouts are pretty big in size. I prefer mine more bite size, but they were seasoned well. It had a nice sweetness and a bit charred. But not too carred where it tastes burnt. For my entree, i ordered the Prime Blackened Ribeye- Medium. It was cooked just the way i liked it and the crispy onions on top were to die for. It came with a side of mashed potatoes but they were pretty plain. It was creamy and smooth but lacked flavor. Despite this, the steak had great seasoning and flavor and complimented well with the mashed potatoes. As for the cocktails, all of them were pretty strong. We celebrated our 4-year anniversary at Forbes Mill last night and had a positive experience. While it's a traditional steakhouse, it still felt modern and upscale. The restaurant is conveniently located right next to Piatti's with a sizeable plaza parking lot. We were seated in a booth that fits 2 and enjoyed an appetizer, a steak with 2 sides, and finished with 2 desserts. Prices are as expected for this type of establishment and service was appropriate as well. We asked for our steak to be served medium and it came out almost rare and pretty cold. It promptly came back perfectly medium and hot off the grill. This was not the best steak I've ever had, but it was good- especially for a local establishment. If you're looking for a traditional steakhouse dinner for a special occasion, Forbes Mill would be a reliable option. - fried calamari: super light and tasty. Would get this again. - cowboy bone in ribeye: tender, but I wish it was a thicker steak with a crispier and more salty crust. - fries: just okay. Cold and bland. I would pass on these next time. - loaded mac and cheese: so unique. I've never seen anything like this on the menu before. I would say this is a solid 4-star steakhouse, with some tweaks they could be 5-star. For the birthday event, everyone else got the surf and turf and I opted for the dry aged NY (which is 28 days btw). Their filets were very tender and it's nice that the lobster tail is the same size as the add-on lobster tail. My NY was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. My personal favorite sauce was the cab demi glace. It was a great pairing to the NY. When we were trying to decide on which sides to get with our entrees and which sides to get for the table, our server used asparagus as a comparison and the family sides sounded like they should have been 3-4x the size of the individual sides, but they ended up being the same. So I'm not sure if that means our sides got hooked up or if the shared side was undersized, but it was a bit odd. We basically all got the au gratin and creamed spinach. I'm not sure if it's to cater to the demographic of Danville, but both of those sides could have used some additional seasoning, just a dash of salt and fresh cracked pepper would have gone a long way. I added them to my leftovers and it brought them up out of bland to more of what I would consider to be a baseline level of seasoning. Of course it's a billed as a high-end establishment so there are no shakers on the table, but if I had known ahead of time, I would have requested it. We were offered fresh cracked pepper for our salads though. I found their version of strawberry salad particularly good. Some places try to get too creative with the dressing to the point it combats the sweetness of fresh fruit, but their strawberry vinaigrette was perfect - not overpowerful in a sweet or tart way. We always appreciate when they offer to split salads when we share them. The cocktails and wine were as good as to be expected. For dessert, the butter cake was immaculate. So soft and moist with just the right amount of sweetness, not over the top. Our service was also very good. We never had to wave him down, even for a busy Friday night. read more

Their service and food are always on point. Our visit was no different. We were seated quickly after checking in with the host. Almost like our table was already assigned upon arrival - loved that! Our server came by quickly and greeted us right away. We brought a wine bottle to cork and he noticed right away and asked us about cocktails and wine. We asked about any special cocktails for Valentine's Day and he went over the drinks for the special day. After looking over the wine and cocktail menus, we decided to stick with our wine we brought - 2019 Flowers Pinot, one of our favorite bottles. The server went over some food recommendations and answered some of our questions about their filet. We placed our order shortly after. Restaurant was dimmed and a romantic ambiance. Table area and floor was clean and neat. Restroom was clean. Service and food was in incredible. We were so happy with everything - we ordered a lot of food. One person with us has never been to Forbes and was truly impressed and happy with their experience. If you haven't tried Forbes yet, you need to put them on your list. It's a great treat for any day, especially for special occasions. They loved the fries and liked the slider/cheeseburger. My wife got the filet mignon and thought it was very good. It came with mashed potatoes. The portion looked on the small side for her dish. I ordered the blackened salmon. It was very tasty and tender, but the buttery sauce could be improved. The rice was plain and could have used something to make it tastier. We came for my husband's birthday dinner, and Kathy was an awesome and attentive server. We had the lobster, filet mignon, and shrimp scampi, after filling up on fantastic calamari and Caesar salad. The lobster and mashed potatoes were exquisite, the filet was cooked to perfection, and the shrimp scampi with linguini was unbelievable. Kathy was so present, we never had to flag her down, and she seemed to give every one of her tables the same attention. They've got a couple cuts of filet, bone-In Ribeye, Dry aged New York all to choose from with some classic seafood options to top them with. I actually went down the menu and grabbed the 14 oz Blackened Ribeye, which came with blue cheese butter, carmelized onions, & mash. It was an excellent cut of meat. My son also ordered the blackened ribeye, his cooked good as well. My daughter got the filet medium, but it had no pink inside. Service was very good, they were attentive, and on top of things. Unfortunately, both foods and services fell short. We were party of 7. One guest's steak was undercooked (ordered medium rare and got a moo-ing rare). One's was overcooked/burnt, and I didn't appreciate the fact they tried to conceal it by showing the un-burnt side. My sister tasted the bitterness, and she flipped the steal... that was when the black charcoaled side was revealed. Service was also mediocre- I gave them benefits of the doubt because it was busy night. However, party of 6+ get default 20% service charge, so maybe there wasn't a need to try to impress us. They have a great wine list on a tablet which explains each wine to help you make a decision which I've only seen at a few other establishments so that's a nice touch. Honestly super disappointed in this meal we had last night for our 25th anniversary. I ordered the wagyu filet mignon medium rare Oscar style, which is asparagus, hollandaise, and crab. The filet itself was $88. The Oscar style side was $18. It was literally three asparagus spears and a tablespoon of dry, hard, overcooked crusty crab. The steak was cooked well done. I ordered medium rare! Not good at all. You can tell from my picture of the sliced meat, how overcooked and dry and un-tender looking it was. I kept waiting for the waitress to ask how everything was but she did not ask and had she have asked I would have told her that my food was extremely overcooked. My partner ordered the prime rib special and he said it was good but very chewy. On top of that, I took my food home to go because I wasn't happy with it. And they packed it up, but they did not include my asparagus that I only ate half of and they did not include the two sides of sauce that came with the meal that I hadn't even touched. This was our first time at the restaurant, so I can't say it left much of a great impression. The girl who welcomed us when we first came in, was very nice. Wished us a happy anniversary right off the bat and was talkative and informative. She told us the hostess would be right with us. The hostess came to seat us and I don't think she said one word to us. Not very engaging from a hostess standpoint. When you're coming to a high-end restaurant, there should be a level of customer service that was definitely lacking.
