Wedge Salad
Ciara S.

Came here on a random Tuesday night and the place was pretty busy. We were greeted and seated promptly on arrival. Our waiter was Eduardo and he was amazing! He was very attentive and provided great service. The bread and butter were delicious! Also, enjoyed the massive wedge salad. Highly recommend it!

Came here to celebrate a birthday and was content with out experience. The ambiance is very dark... I almost considered taking out my phone and using the flashlight. I personally think it's a little TOO dark. While it's a nice establishment, I could hear people at the bar watching sports, so it kind of took away from the experience a bit. The service was ok, friendly and efficient. The food was good as well, nothing too memorable. Overall, I did enjoy my experience here. It's a solid steakhouse.

Prime "Cowboy Cut" Bone-In Ribeye (20oz) medium well is just right!

Came back for my wife's birthday after having such a great experience a couple months ago, and this place still delivers. The ribeye was just as good as we remembered, cooked as requested and flavor was cool. The shrimp was much better this time around but the cream of spinach and spring rolls did not hit the spot for me. Service this time around felt a little more rushed than our first visit, but everyone was still friendly and everything came out correctly. The restaurant had a lively energy to it, which we enjoy for a nice dinner out. It's a bit darker inside than I expected. Overall, another good experience.

The drinks and food here are INCREDIBLE! To drink, we had a variety of cocktails: Gin Martini, Smokey Diablo, Furious George, and Negroni. The martini and Negroni were classics well done, and the Furious George was unique and delicious! It does have a kick, so be warned. To eat, we had the blackened ribeye, the grass fed filet mignon with peppercorn sauce, and the ahi tuna. The steaks and tuna were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The accompaniments paired well the with proteins and were tasty. To finish our meal, we had the flourless chocolate torte and the tiramisu. Both were rich and yummy, a perfect end to the meal. The espresso martini and the Irish coffee were expertly crafted and matched well with the desserts. Really nice inside but comfortable. Perfect place for an upscale Friday night dinner! We were seated right away and our order was taken quickly too. If you're looking for a fancy restaurant for dinner with an impressive steak menu with cocktails and desserts too; check out Forbes Mill Steakhouse!

Came here Thursday night to celebrate our 4th year anniversary. We have been to Forbes a few times but were greeted warmly by our waitress Yaren. Yaren was so attentive throughout our evening and patient with taking our orders. She asked us if we came for a special occasion and Yaren surprised us with a Happy Anniversary dessert just as we were about to order one. Yaren later disclosed it was her first night as a waitress here and we were her first table. We would have never known ! She did not seem nervous and was so sweet. Thank you Forbes and Yaren for a delightful night!

Man oh man was this not the best steak I've had in a while! I've been to almost every steakhouse in San Francisco, as they are known for their steakhouses. Now that I live on this side of town, I finally tried this place after having it bookmarked for some months. The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and buttery. It was not overcooked or undercooked. It was beyond my expectations. All the other dishes we had were also really good including our cocktails. It's a dark cozy vibe in there. And service is great. I'd definitely come back!!

Hubby and I came here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and were able to make a reservation the day before after having to pivot from our original plans. We were seated in a booth, and our server was incredibly sweet and friendly right from the start. I think the host may have misread the reservation notes because we were initially given "Happy Birthday" menus. We mentioned it to our server, and she quickly brought us new menus that said "Happy Anniversary." A small detail, but very much appreciated. We started with the calamari, which was delicious. Our steaks had great flavor, and for sides we ordered the loaded mashed potatoes and the loaded mac and cheese. In hindsight, getting two "loaded" sides was probably too much. The mashed potatoes were good, but I think I would've preferred a simple baked potato. The loaded mac and cheese, however, was incredible and something I'd absolutely order again. At the end of dinner, we were brought a complimentary Happy Anniversary dessert, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch. The only downside was that the bar was directly behind our booth. There was a game on, and it got pretty loud with cheering, which made it feel a bit more like a sports bar at times. Aside from that, the ambiance was nice and the restaurant felt classy and well-suited for a special celebration.

Wow wow wow! I had reservations for dinner we were seated immediately. They were pretty busy so I suggest reservations. The ambiance is nice and dim. Danielle was our server and she was absolutely AMAZING. I had the pear mocktail which was really good. Started with bread which came out warm and was good. To start I had the chili prawns. Honestly I couldve had that as my main it was soooo good and the prawns were huge. I also tried the chicken spring rolls they were okay. For entree I had the salmon it was okay but the mash and creamed spinach where amazing. I dont eat short rib but when I tell you this short rib was cooked to perfection literally melts in your mouth. Danielle brought out a blueberry cheesecake to celebrate which was nice and it was really good. Overall I would come back to try more they have so much to over and thw customer service was amazing.

Went here for my sisters birthday. They made it so special by customizing the menu to say happy birthday to her and bringing out a little happy birthday treat. Food was good, service was great- attentive and knowledgeable. The Resturant was like every classic steakhouse with lots of wood and dim lighting- total vibe! Definitely check it out.

My husband and I had heard good things about Forbes and it's been around for so long that we finally sent the kids off with the parents and had a much needed date night. The ambience is fancy but it seems a little too dark, unnecessarily dark. The service is fantastic as expected for the price point. We both got drinks and they were good. The calamari was good, not the best I've had but definitely solid. Here's where the loss of stars comes in. We both ordered dry aged New York steak and I didn't realize until the next day when we tried the leftovers that only my husbands had been dry aged. The taste was so different and his was so much better. I felt completely robbed by this mistake. It didn't help that the dry aged is also more expensive and I got the wet aged cheaper one but still paid for the dry aged. At this price point, mistakes of this magnitude do not seem acceptable. Even though the food was good, this left such a bad impression on me that I feel I never want to go back. Getting a date night isn't easy for us so I am severely disappointed. I sent an email to the Forbes contact email (not asking for a refund or anything) just to notify them of the mistake and disappointment and never heard anything back.

Justin M.

For starters we went with the garlic Parmesan seasoned Fried Calamari. This appetizer was AMAZING! Me and my wife then split a cowboy cut 20oz bone in ribeye and the shrimp scampi. The shrimp were massive! The steak was delicious and so tasty. They split the dishes for us which was so kind. But let me tell you the star of the show! The butter cake was nice and warm and moist with the gelato vanilla ice cream on top! WOW! A few complaints were that the restaurant was distractingly loud. Also, the parking was very bad. All in all the food more than made up for the parking and noise level. We will be coming back.

Blackened Ribeye Steak !

The Best Saturday Ever ! Nicole served us our Blackened Ribeye, Mac N Cheese, Asparagus, and some great drinks ! It was Awesome ! She was Awesome ! She was more than our Waitress ! Her Knowledge of the area helped us know what we want to do as visitors from Alabama, Texas, and South Carolina ! She is Bad Ass ! Ask for her when you visit !

This interview is long overdue. I was here recently on 2 occasions, Mother's Day and a Retirement Celebration for my dad. Both times we were lucky enough to have Danielle as our server. I have to say that I personally loved the service. We had such a good time that moving forward we will be asking to be seated in Danielle's section as she gives excellent service and is genuinely happy! We were seated a bit early at 4 PM and it was nice and quiet both times. The food was amazing from beginning to end. My dad is someone who likes to salt everything and during both visits to FM he didn't salt anything and said that it was very seasoned and flavorful, as is. Usually my dad complains about everything. But on these 2 occasions, he did not. Lol. Both experiences were 5 stars, easy. Thank you, Danielle, for giving us such a grand experience! We look forward to seeing you again next time!

Ask the Community - Forbes Mill Steakhouse

Hi! would love to have a special birthday celebration for my son at your location, but he is very particular about his dessert which I plan to make for him this year (a very special cheesecake). Would it be possible to bring our own dessert?

Currently offering any grass-fed meat options as before?

We have a 7oz Grass Fed Filet mignon served with cognac peppercorn sauce and mashed potatoes.

Will the bar be playing the UFC fight 298?

It will not.

How loud is this restaurant? Looking for a place to celebrate a birthday dinner with my parents who are 80 and hard of hearing.

Hi Meredith, depending on certain days especially Friday and Saturday our restaurant can be very lively and active. We have a few options such as booth seating (if available) , private banquet space, or even an earlier reservation time when there…

Is there a dress code?

This is the most casual steakhouse I've been too. We dressed up when we went, but there were also people there in shorts and a Hawaiian shirt.

What is their corkage fee?

$30 per bottle. 2 750ml bottle limit per table.

Is prime rib served on a certain day or anyday...which day?

Prime rib is served Sundays only. Note on reservation to hold you a cut as they quickly run out!

We were seated quickly outside. It was such a nice evening out and not cold. There were heat lamps too if needed. Our server was Toni. She was amazing and took care of us! It was a hanger steak so it was soft and tender. Fries were crispy and it came with an arugula side salad. Dressing was lemony. Toni was so nice and even found us something similar to chimichurri sauce. The fish of the day was a salmon with risotto. It was cooked medium. Not over cooked and nice and flakey. Risotto was really good and lemony. The lemon meringue was probably one of the best desserts I have ever eaten. It came with a raspberry compote. The meringue was sooo soft and whipped and came with a delicious graham cracker crust. We even asked if they sold the pie as a whole but unfortunately they don't. Loved this spot! Will def be back. I'm happy to pay a split fee. Just don't make me feel judged for it -- especially when the table ordered plenty of wine/cocktails, entrees, desserts, sides, and bottled water. Speaking of which: I asked for still, bottled water. He brought tap. When I followed up, he arrived with a single small Aqua Panna -- tap glasses still on the table. When I pointed out one bottle wasn't enough for our party, he dropped two more without pouring any of them. We now had twelve glasses of water crowding the table and not one filled -- except for the tap. That pattern held all night. Empty wine glasses, cocktail glasses, dirty plates -- nothing was ever proactively cleared. Everything required asking. Repeatedly. He also cleared across guests rather than walking around the table. Basic. But the most serious issue: at the start of dinner, he asked about allergies. One guest clearly stated a walnut and pecan allergy. He then brought out a dessert containing pecans. That's not an oversight. That's a liability. We tipped generously anyway... But it wasn't earned tonight. Esin has always been a place I look forward to when I'm back in town. Tonight was a real disappointment.

As my husband and I are both movie nerds, it was only fitting to make a reservation at the restaurant featured in the movie. Don't judge us, ha ha. The restaurant is described as a restaurant with Asian influence, and the interior reflects this. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and dimly lit, perfect for a date night. It has definitely been revamped since "Mrs. Doubtfire," but the date night aesthetic seen in the movie still remains. For drinks, I ordered the peach Bellini and my husband ordered the old fashioned. The peach Bellini was warm and sweet in a good way. My husband said his old fashioned "tasted off." For the appetizer, we ordered the charcuterie board. This is the best charcuterie we have had! The bread was toasted nicely. The brie, gouda, and manchego cheeses, as cheeses typically are ha ha, were very addicting. The apricot jam and truffle honey added nice flavors to the bread. The coppa and prosciutto meats were tender and not too salty. For our entrees, I ordered the Bridges burger medium well. It comes with herb aioli, LTO, and melted Havarti cheese, all between a toasted brioche bun. This is one of the best and juiciest burgers I've ever had! It was cooked to perfection, the cheese perfectly melted, and the bun both crispy and fluffy. The herb aioli was not overpowering and added just the right amount of "herbiness." My husband ordered the grilled pork chop, which comes with an apple chutney, applewood smoked bacon, collard greens, parmesan cheese grits, and a red wine demi glace. I tried his entree. As someone who doesn't really care for pork chops in general, I loved this one. It was very tender and juicy and the apply chutney was a delicious accompaniment. The cheese grits were well-cooked and seasoned, which pleased this Southern girl's heart. The red wine sauce was thick and a nice touch to the pork. For dessert, we ordered the molten chocolate cake. Unfortunately, there was no "lava" in the center, but the cake itself was very gooey and rich and the vanilla gelato offered by our waitress added an extra layer of creaminess and decadence! Our waitress was super nice and kept smiling the entire time, adding to this incredible dining experience. The other wait staff that assisted us were no different. Our waiter, Zachary, was amazing and always looked to keep our spirits up with jokes or recommendations, etc. Since we were also celebrating a birthday, they offered complimentary chocolates & a framed picture that they took for us -- great keepsake! The food itself tasted amazing, seafood was fresh. Also loved the sauce with the crab cakes -- no notes there. My only suggestion would be for the restaurant to look more into presentation of the food. Since we were only a party of 2, we just didn't need a full size of the seafood tower or poke. The way they came out just made the dish look a little lacking, like too much ice and not enough food; I think a smaller plate/bowl can easily do the trick. As for the ribeyes, they were cooked to perfection. I love a good medium rare steak! Again, my only note is with presentation- both steaks that we got just came out looking very brown. The steak was brown, then we added caramelized onions & mushrooms which only added more brown to the plate. There were a few pea sprouts (?) that added some green but I think literally anything else to the plate would help elevate it so much more and bring more color to the plate when eating.
