[[HIGHLIGHT]]Part of town this is a great French Bistro.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We went for Mother's Day brunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The people watching is unreal as are the food and service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Mother's Day brunch was a set menu, but had great selections. We had salmon, tartare, crab and avocado, lamb chops and steak. The wine by the glass is excellent. Great experience, great service, a must in this part of town.

A Dallas staple!! A perfect girls brunch or dinner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]You must sit outside if weather permits - you will feel transported to Europe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Excellent light fare with good service. On this particular occasion, we were not drinking, and the bar crafted incredible cucumber mocktails (albeit slow to make them). Love the complimentary bread and butter for the table. To start, I had the tuna tartare. I shared the Cajun chicken as an entree - this is good and comes with French fries, but definitely ask for extra sauce (our particular chicken was dry). Make sure to tell your waiter if you are celebrating / they brought out a complimentary dessert with a sparkler for our friend. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Losing a star due to construction in the area...hard to sit at dinner and stare at an office building construction site![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Tuna Tartar is amazing.

We tried Le Bilboquet after a friend recommended it. French fare and it was delicious. The menu is good sized, with a variety of options. Try the tuna tartare, it is exceptionally good. The duck was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Great lobster pasta too. Our servers were very friendly and answered all of our questions.

The atmosphere and ambiance are perfect. You almost feel like you are in Paris. Kind of a pet peeve of mine is that we had early reservations and walked into a near empty restaurant, yet we were seated next to a post. Not a great first impression. I just get tired of restaurants like this who try and fill the worst tables first. I shouldn't have to ask to be seated in the best available table. Service from the bar was noticeably slow. It was also expensive - $28 for a shot of MacAllen 12 on the rock? Multiply that by about 2 and you can have a bottle. Similarly, the wines by the glass seemed too pricey (mid 20s). Nothing from the Bordeaux region by the glass unfortunately. Other than the wait on drinks before and during our meal, service was friendly, helpful and attentive. Began with the country pate and the special gazpacho. The pate was ok, but we should have ordered the foie gras. Similarly, the gazpacho was not bad, but I have had better and would have preferred less oil. Entrees were the highlight, exceptional, and very reasonably priced. The Roasted half chicken was delicious and so perfectly prepared. My wife took half of it home. The Filet au Poivre was also perfectly prepared. The filet was tender, juicy, and had a great flavor. The accompanying fries were crisp and delicious. I highly recommend both of these entrees! In a French restaurant, dessert is a must. My better half chose the crustless apple crisp (cannot recall the name) with a small scoop of ice cream. She loved it. It was fine in my opinion, but I would try another option next time. Note: Valet parking ($7) is not complimentary for lunch or dinner and there really isn't available street parking. Not sure that makes a difference but FYI.

Had an absolutely wonderful time at Le Bilboquet for a weekend brunch with some girlfriends! A few things to keep in mind for your visit: Be sure to make a reservation in advance as it tends to get pretty busy. Parking is valet only but as it is in Knox Henderson finding other parking shouldn't be an issue! The food was absolutely incredible. The meal started with the fluffiest bread with the most delicious, yet simple bread. I got a regular latte, and while unfortunately they don't have any syrups to spicy up the drinks, the latte itself was all good. I got the Cajun Chicken and I would 12/10 go back just to get it again. The cream sauce with the chicken was an absolute delight to eat! The decor is very minimal but quite tasteful and elegant. Definitely a fancier brunch experience but treat yourself! I am definitely looking forward to going back!

Beautiful Ambience! Roses on white tablecloths. Gentle breeze through their opened windows. Dressed to the nines doesn't feel out of place. Soft Flavors! Including all the lunches and brunches tried; this time, perfectly poached were my eggs in a gentle tomato sauce was my "Shakshuka". Pleasant Service! Usually impeccable attentions given. Yet, when there are big parties in place, it's extremely slow. CHEERS!

The cocktail menu is diverse and unique. I took our excellent server's (Kayla) recommendation and had the Bryan St Martini, which is a gin-based martini with a a lemon stuffed olive topped with black caviar. My wife had the Spiced Pear 75, which she loved. Since they are cuisine francaise, our table started with the escargot bourguignon, which has the typical six snails, but instead of butter+garlic+herbs, they were in a cream sauce and then topped with more escargot on top! The complimentary bread (and butter) served when we sat down were perfect to top with escargot and dip into the cream sauce. Our dining friends order the beet carpacio salad and we had the champagne-brie soup. After one spponful, I told Kayla that dish alone is worth another visit. My wife had the duck a l'orange and I had chicken roulade. For dessert, we split a bananas foster souffle, which requires 20 minutes prep time, which Kayla perfectly timed after we ordered when our entrees came. Overall, great food, GREAT service and a truly unique vibe!

We were quickly shown to our seats and immediately brought waters and bread. We each had two cocktails from their booklet menu and they were delicious! You have to order every course at the same time so we were given some time to look over the menu before ordering. We started with the Escargots Bourguignon and the Shrimp St Martins. The sauce that the shrimp was sitting in was TO DIE FOR. The escargot came in a sauce as well but the shrimp sauce was so good I was dipping the escargot in the shrimp sauce! Then out came the Champagne Brie soup- it was my favorite thing I had. I could've easily licked my bowl clean. For the entree I had the Rack of Lamb and my partner had the Seared Sea Bass. We both honestly weren't impressed by either. They were just good, not great. It probably didn't help that we had waited too long for our entrees. Unfortunately, our entire dining experience lasted 2 hours. I appreciate a nice meal that's not rushed... but the time between courses was honestly ridiculous. I'm not sure if it was just this particular night that the kitchen was slow but then again it was a Wednesday night... I'd hate to see a weekend night.

First, you walk in and you're introduced to a small, charming, and warm space that looks straight out of a children's fairytale. Don't forget to grab a little surprise card (child friendly and adult friendly) either before you sit down or on your way out. Cute conversation starters and reflection inspiration! My objective of the night was dessert, so I didn't even bother to look at the savory souffles. While waiting for our server, my eyes were captivated by the twinkling lights around me (in the indoor space) and the sight and sounds of the chefs whisking away the souffles before they went in the oven. I was expecting Ratatouille's Remy to pop out. Anyway, as we gazed through the dessert menu, we thought we were enlightened already, but it only got better -- the specials: Strawberry and Pistachio. I'm regretting only getting the Pistachio because it was just so dang good. Will definitely be back. Austin is missing out. The good: - Not busy - Server Caleb is quite pleasant - Scrambled eggs and breakfast potatoes were tasty - Yogurt Parfait was tasty but way too big. It was served in a large bowl. Way overkill. The not so great: - My wife's meal took over an hour to come out. Ordered just after 10 am and came out at 11:08 am - The Croque Madam needs to be removed from the menu. A French person would have been horrified at this dish In summary over three meals in the last 30 days, the food is hit and miss and the Kitchen is very slow. I love the location but I'm not sure we'll come back to eat at Toussaint. ---------- We mostly enjoyed our meals here. This review is for two visits that we've made here in the last 30 days. Our first visit here was on May 9, following an afternoon concert up the block at the Majestic Theatre. We popped in here about 5:30 pm and we shared a meal. They were able to do a kitchen split of the French dip meal. It was really tasty. The bartender worked the bar and the entire dining room. Must have been short handed that night but he did great. This weekend (May 29), we ended up staying at the Saint Elm Hotel which occupies the same building. We ended up at the Toussaint for dinner one night. We each had the French Onion Soup and we shared the Braised Short Rib dinner. The French Onion Soup was very good. It's in my top 3 of all time! The Braised Short Rib dinner - kitchen split, came out and presented great. Unfortunately, it was not served hot. It was barely warm. We sent it back for reheating. It came back out about 15 minutes later. The mashed potatoes, mushroom and gravy were warm. The short rib was not. We ate it cool anyway as we had a show to get to and I didn't really want to send it back again. That said, the potatoes, mushrooms and gravy had great flavor. The above all said for this dinner - I'd still come back to try other dinner dishes. Not sure my wife would agree.

The decor is classic and doesn't have much fanfare which I think fits the French vibe. We sat outside on the patio and even though it was scorching outside, because of the tent-style covering and air conditioning the place was kept cool. The patio is dog friendly as well. When we got there the host was with us immediately and found us a table. I'm thinking they might've also been a manager because they were walking throughout the restaurant checking on everyone even though they weren't too busy. Really liked how diligent they were. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about our server. He was very nice and gave good recommendations when asked, but we barely saw the guy throughout our meal. The host/manager that was there came more than once to check on us and bring us anything we needed, but if he wasn't there I think we wouldn't have had anyone else come up to us besides taking the orders, dropping them off, and bringing us the check (which we had to hunt them down for). The food itself was really good thankfully. The duck was delicious and my partner loved his croque madame! I had a bite of his and immediately got jealous because I had been craving brunch and his dish fit that theme perfectly, unlike mine. I left nothing on my plate whereas he couldn't finish his because it was too much heavy food for him. We also got the truffle deviled eggs as a starter and they had great flavor, though the filling was a little dry for my taste. Nothing wrong with it since it was just a matter of personal preference. I don't know if we'll be back since the service was inconsistent, but at least it was a good meal.

Oh man... what a let down this visit was for us…read more My wife and I have come here at least once a year for the past 3 years, and we've always loved this place. The food has always been great and the experience was something we looked forward to. That's why we chose to celebrate an early Valentine's Day here -- to avoid the crazy rush and the preset menu. But this time? Completely different experience. We got seated right away because of our reservation, which was great. It took a few minutes for the waiter to come by -- no big deal. I ordered an Old Fashioned and honestly... the bartender needs some help. It came out full of crushed ice and tasted watered down. I sent it back, and the second one was basically the same drink with more whiskey thrown in. At that point, I just let it go. Then things just kept going downhill. After about 20 minutes, we realized we hadn't gotten any bread. We asked the waiter and he said he'd check. Another 10 minutes go by and he comes back saying, "Still no bread," and drops off the wrong appetizer -- we had only ordered a salad. He takes it back, and it's another 15 minutes before our actual salad shows up. Still no bread. At one point, we could literally see him arguing with someone in the back about why we didn't get bread yet. Not exactly something you want to watch during a date night. The food, when it finally came out, was delicious. No complaints there. But it took forever. By the time we were eating, it was about 45 minutes until closing... and we had gotten there two hours earlier. Then comes the payment situation. The waiter brings the check back and casually tells me I gave him two credit cards and he "just picked the brighter one." I look down and he had handed me someone else's credit card while mine was still sitting in the book. That's not a small mistake. Overall, it just felt unorganized and sloppy this time. I don't know if they're short staffed or just getting too busy for their own good, but it was disappointing, especially for a place we've genuinely enjoyed in the past. Hoping it was just an off night... but it definitely made us think twice about coming back.
