Oh man... what a let down this visit was for us. My wife and I have come here at least once a year for the past 3 years, and we've always loved this place. The food has always been great and the experience was something we looked forward to. That's why we chose to celebrate an early Valentine's Day here -- to avoid the crazy rush and the preset menu. But this time? Completely different experience. We got seated right away because of our reservation, which was great. It took a few minutes for the waiter to come by -- no big deal. I ordered an Old Fashioned and honestly... the bartender needs some help. It came out full of crushed ice and tasted watered down. I sent it back, and the second one was basically the same drink with more whiskey thrown in. At that point, I just let it go. Then things just kept going downhill. After about 20 minutes, we realized we hadn't gotten any bread. We asked the waiter and he said he'd check. Another 10 minutes go by and he comes back saying, "Still no bread," and drops off the wrong appetizer -- we had only ordered a salad. He takes it back, and it's another 15 minutes before our actual salad shows up. Still no bread. At one point, we could literally see him arguing with someone in the back about why we didn't get bread yet. Not exactly something you want to watch during a date night. The food, when it finally came out, was delicious. No complaints there. But it took forever. By the time we were eating, it was about 45 minutes until closing... and we had gotten there two hours earlier. Then comes the payment situation. The waiter brings the check back and casually tells me I gave him two credit cards and he "just picked the brighter one." I look down and he had handed me someone else's credit card while mine was still sitting in the book. That's not a small mistake. Overall, it just felt unorganized and sloppy this time. I don't know if they're short staffed or just getting too busy for their own good, but it was disappointing, especially for a place we've genuinely enjoyed in the past. Love this restaurant! Such a gorgeous place in which to dine well. It has been a favorite of mine (and my recently deceased husband) )for many years. So glad our friends love it, too! Always an excellent meal, of course. I order the short rib entree often, but chose the veal piccata last evening. It was absolute perfection, meat so tender, delicious sauce; the roasted fingerling potatoes and fresh green beans were the best accompaniment. My compliments to Chef Cadot! This is probably one of my favorite French restaurants in Dallas. My boyfriend's parents took us here, and it was such an incredible and fun experience. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable about wines, and he picked out a really good red for us. I don't normally like red wine, but I thoroughly enjoyed his pick. We tried the caviar, which was such a fun and delicious experience. I was in love with my tagliatelle pasta. It was one of the best seafood pastas I've ever had, and it was really well balanced. My boyfriend's risotto and his mom's seabass were also delicious. We tried the souffle to finish, and it was perfectly baked. 10/10 experience and night! read more

We came here for a rehearsal dinner and we absolutely loved the way the room was set up. We have a reserved space and the decor was beautiful. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to celebrate with a large group of people. We loved the music, and there was also an accordion player who roamed the restaurant. It was so lovely! The food was delicious- they have the very best French onion soup and escargot. Those were my favs! I love their Sauvignon Blanc, excellent choice. Don't bring a person of color here. I brought my boyfriend here (who is Latino). As we walked in the restaurant was full of old white people giving us dirty looks. Our waiter came to the table and HE was racist as well. He was a larger man who kept bumping into me and my boyfriend purposefully. He LAUGHED IN MY FACE when I suggested we split an appetizer (apps are usually split, no?). The worst part is my boyfriend asked for a drink. The waiter was very very aggressive with him. Literally guffawing and saying "well what do you like?" We asked "what do you have?" He was exasperated and said "a full bar!" I ASKED FOR A DRINK MENU AND HE TOLD ME THEY DIDNT HAVE ONE. He then offered my Mexican boyfriend A MARGARITA. AT A FRENCH RESTAURANT. AFTER CLAIMING THERE WAS NO MENU. I finally kicked into white woman mode and walked up the the bar, where a menu with specials was sitting. I then walked to the host stand and asked for a drink menu, which the hostess TOOK OFF THE TABLE SITTING BEHIND HER AND HANDED IT TO ME. I walked back to the table and handed the menu to my boyfriend. I was literally shaking with rage. Our waiter came back to the table and my boyfriend asked if he could swap out his drink since he "found the menu." THE WAITER SAID NO!!!! And laughed!! "I can't that it's almost ready." I finally tore into him and said you will be swapping out his drink, I have been here before and I have ALWAYS been given a drink menu and NEVER made fun of for SHARING AN APPETIZER! The waiter finally got nervous since a white person was talking to him and he agreed to swap out the drinks. I have supported cadot for years as has my family. Love the atmosphere at Cadot. I like the front dining room best and that's where we were seated. They have a nice wine list by the glass - reasonable and flavorful. Our appetizers were the seared Foie Gras and smoked salmon. The Foie Gras was excellent. For entrées, we had a crabcake appetizer, the flat iron steak, and the evening special duck confit. Of these, the flat iron steak was far and above the best choice. The duck had a heavy gravy sauce which distracted from the flavor and it was a bit over cooked. The Pom frites are delicious. It's alright. I had the Escargots, Short Ribs, and Creme Brulee. My friend had the Risotto. For an upscale restaurant, it's a bit disappointing. First, the waiter was snooty because my friend didn't order much. Second, the food itself wasn't very tasty. Third, the bread served in the beginning was stale and hard to chew without hurting one's mouth. The waiters and waitresses were very attentive in refilling water, however. There was also an accordion player who was making it very awkward for one of the tables by playing so long for them. The people's awkward expressions were very amusing. Overall, it wasn't bad per se, but we were expecting more for a 4.7 star-rated restaurant. The food seemed to be milder, tailored towards older people. It just wasn't spectacular for the price that it's worth. Expect to pay around $50-$100 on average for a full-course meal. read more

Kind of odd that two of the better French restaurants in North Dallas / Plano would be within about a mile of each other (Lavendou), but I had lunch at both of them this week and can report that they are both great. I had the veal at Cadot and it came with a lemon/butter/caper sauce that was not unusual but very well executed. Same with the vegetables and the--free--bread service. Speaking of service, it was great. Overall, very high quality all around, and just a very pleasant experience. We need more restaurants like this. read more

I've driven by the place for over a year and finally gave it a shot on date night with my wife. First things first...the staff was amazing. Their recommendations were terrific. The Bibb salad was one of the neat things. I may go back just for that for lunch some time. Sea bass was well prepared. Very simple flavor that was enhanced with all the other pieces of the dish. Wife had the spare rib. Super good, super rich, and pretty heavy. Get it only if you're hungry (which she wasn't...but she really enjoyed it). They were pretty gung-ho about the Souflet's...which were interesting. I've never had one , so didn't know what to expect. They were pretty good, which I'm sure someone who loves that dish may have appreciated it more. Next time I'll try a different dessert option. Would definitely visit again. read more

Upon arrival, it almost seemed as the stereotypical "stuffy" French Atmosphere had come to Dallas. It took a while to have our drink order taken and the waitress initially seemed put off about asking a few simple questions about some of the appetizers. That unfortunately set the restaurant to have to dig out of a hole for the rest of the evening. We ordered the escargot appetizer and the short ribs and seafood risotto. Everything tasted very well and you could tell the training and experience of Chef Cadot came through as the flavors were rich and complex. We finished with their soufflé for dessert and it was probably one of the best we've had rivaling even that of Rise No.1. Came here to celebrate our anniversary, taking advantage of their Friday lunch hours. Service was excellent, the only thing that would have made it better was an acknowledgement (even if only verbal) of our anniversary (which was noted on our reservation). The food came in true French fashion (lovingly slow) and tasted French - well balanced and thoughtfully prepared to let the ingredients shine. If you like heavily salted foods, this probably isn't the restaurant for you. The sauces are perfect compliments to each dish, from appetizer to dessert, and there's just enough to satisfy you yet leave you wanting more. We started with the escargot, which was amazing. We even dipped our perfectly baked bread in the sauce to get as much out of the dish as possible! The butter was fine, but get the escargot to take that bread to a whole other level! I ordered the crusted lamb while my partner ordered the sea bass. Both were properly cooked and melted in your mouth. Again, the sauces brought the whole dish together and were amazing. The sea bass was a huge portion, not only a good length but also super thick! We ordered the chocolate lava cake for dessert and I wanted 2 more orders after devouring it in 3 minutes! Water and teas were refilled constantly throughout the meal. We have already decided we will come back, and we might not wait another year to do so. I've been twice. They have a seasonal menu and a regular menu. The first time I visited, the waiter was very friendly. The second time, the waiter wasn't as friendly and seemed like he was exhausted or annoyed by his patrons. Though he to lighten up a bit towards the end of our meal. The flat iron steak was good but wasn't anything that I'd go back for. I've tried their lamb - it is delicious! I've also tried the soft shell crab risotto and duck confit. Both are delicious! I absolutely loved my experience at Cadot! We had a reservation for 2 at 6pm on a Saturday, and we were seated right away. We were first greeted by a woman who spoke French, and she led us to our seats. Our waiter came to take our orders just a few minutes later. We were there for restaurant week, so I ordered the escargot, celery remoulade with shrimp, duck confit, and grand mariner baba, with the wine pairings. For the wine pairings, they let you choose 2 of the wines listed (i.e., rose, white bordeaux, red bordeaux, and pinot grigio). I expected them to have a pre-set pairing with each course selection, but that's alright, since I got to choose my favorites. I enjoyed the whole meal, from the wine to the duck confit! The escargot was especially good with their garlic cream sauce! I also really enjoyed the shrimp dish. For the dessert, I actually liked my friend's opera cake over the grand mariner baba, as the orange marmalade over the baba was too overpowering. The opera cake was rich in flavor and very sweet and chocolatey, but it was good! I highly recommend this place if you enjoy French cuisine! Very attentive and polite service, and the food is excellent! They do offer valet parking, but there is a large parking lot with visitor parking slots in the area that is shared with other businesses if you want to self-park. read more

Don't let the strip mall setting fool you, this is a very nice French bistro with a real neighborhood feel. While not without its faults, we felt very comfortable here and quite enjoyed our experience. The food was good (admittedly not great) but service was very friendly and attentive. The foie gras with figs was tasty, though would have been better if the dish were warmer and had more of a sear on the pieces of foie gras and more acid on the plate. The wild mushroom soup was nicely generous with mushrooms, rich and flavorful even though it did not seem to be thickened with cream. The steamed mussels were exceptional, tender large mussels swimming in a lip-smacking, deeply flavored buttery sauce. No quibbles with the steak frites either, the flat iron steak perfectly medium rare and sliced thin to disguise the inherent toughness of the cut. Our daughter was a bit disappointed with the seafood linguine...it tasted fine to me, but she was disappointed the scallops were not seared but rather seemed poached, though to be fair they were perfectly tender. Finally, the chocolate soufflé was wonderfully light, but I would question whether a nice crème anglaise or raspberry coulis would have been better than the supplied chocolate sauce. In sum, dinner was not cheap, though these days what is? We enjoyed our leisurely dinner and will definitely return. read more
