Stay away, typical tourist trap but with pretty good food. Expect to pay double for what the good food in the center of Paris costs, just because this place is on the top of the Pompidou Center. The place was packed with large tourist parties, mostly Americans, who did not care for the price and level of service as this is advertised as dinner with the view of Paris attraction. Be prepared to sit at the same table with other couples/ groups and elbow with tables next to you as the seating arranged along the outside glass wall that provides the view. So if you are seated with your back to the window - you get no view, just an expensive dinner with bad service, but at least your dining partner gets the view. If you are seated two or three tables in (away from the window), the entire party gets just an expensive dinner with bad service. read more

Not sure why this place has lower reviews but my friends and I had an absolutely fantastic time here for our last meal in Paris. We booked reservations very easily online for a party of 5 for a 7PM dinner on a Sunday night. I ended up calling to move the reservations to 8 PM no problem. Our server was excellent and our meal was great. The rooftop allows for a special view of Paris, including great views of the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame. The truffle mushroom ravioli was easily the best ravioli I've ever had in my life and the nutella milkshake was also amazing. They have an indoor and outdoor patio that you can sit at. We were placed indoors, but the outdoor area has heaters for the cold and decor was fantastic to fit with the rest of the Pompidou. read more

I don't eat donuts, but if I did it would be a devils food with nuts. I don't live in Paris, but if I did I would stop in for a drink at Georges but go elsewhere for dinner. There is no denying the fact that both the food and the view here are amazing. But the service is a major shortcoming. When you drop 400 Euro for dinner one might expect that with your steak, you would be presented with a steak knife. Ok, so maybe they forgot? But when our friend noticed that I was shaking the entire table trying to cut through my steak with a butter knife he then says to me. "Would you like for me ask that they bring you a steak knife?" I took him up on his offer and after several minutes of trying to get a servers attention. One finally came over, the server then looks down and says "but the steak is so tender, it does not require a steak knife" I seriously thought he was kidding. But he wasn't, and just simply walked away. The entire evening was spent trying to get the staffs attention. Our bottle of white and red wine both ran dry, and still not a single server acknowledge us. One may dismiss and say that it was because we didn't speak French. Well, two people at our table were fluent and the staff did speak English. Paris is full of wonderful restaurants, some of the best in the world in fact. LE GEORGES is a modern brasserie on the top floor of the Centre POMPIDOU Museum. There is indoor and outdoor seating and I choose to sit outside. The restaurant is on the expensive side but worth it for the spectacular view of the rooftops of Paris. My only issue was the cigarette smoke I had to endure while dining there and the tables were very close to one another. It was as if I could join in on everyone's conversations. We were that close! My server was very attentive and offered to move me to a table under a heating lamp if I got too cold. I enjoyed sea bass in Tom Yam chile broth as well as a delicious mango cheesecake. The menu is quite fresh with a selection of pumpkin soup, quinoa salad, Canadian lobster salad, Thai spring rolls, shrimp, foie gras, and smoked salmon. Larger dish selections include Peking duck, pan seared veal chop, beef filet, beef carpaccio, ravioli, and spicy grilled tuna. Their dessert menu is extensive with their mango cheesecake from "Thoumieux." It was divine and I wished for two! Did not want to share!!! They also had as choices, a lemon meringue pie, apple pie, mille feuille, chocolate fondant, gelatin, ice cream, and Rocamadour cheese. The view is breathtaking from here! You can see almost every significant landmarks in Paris at this rooftop venue. I had one of the best escargots I've ever had and "The Famous Silver Cod by Georges" that indeed should be famous. My friend loved the Tom Yum eggplant she ordered. Both our order came with a side of very aromatic Thai rice that's very well cooked with possibly chicken or veggie stock. I don't usually eat rice at any French restaurant where's good bread but I finished the rice there! When coffee are served, gladly I didn't overlook the container with table sugar as there are little squares of dark chocolate. How delightful it was my whole experience there. It does get a bit tricky to find the right entrance and the right elevator to reach the restaurant on the top of a massive building but I hope you read this to know that there's a dedicated entrance with signage says "Le Georges" even if your French is limited to ask for directions like me. Restaurant is in the 6th floor. Nice views of the city and the staff was hit or miss. First woman was clearly new. I asked if she spoke English and she said a little but really did not. She struggled with our drink order even though we pointed on the menu what bottle we wanted. She never offered us an English menu (on learned about it later that night when a table next to us was offered one). They do have wifi so we used google translate to figure out the menu. We had a different server that handles our meal and he was great. Very helpful and pleasant. Really enjoyed him. The food was good at best. Nothing spectacular and very expensive. This was a hard review for me to write because you get a spectacular view of Paris with floor to ceiling glass windows on the 6th floor of the musuem which can be seen if you're seated inside to the far right of the door. So if you're making a reservation, ask to be seated indoors. The night we came it was the mister's birthday and our salesperson at LV who recommended this place suggested she make the reservation for us so she could speak to them in French and tell them it was his birthday and they would put a candle on his dessert. When we arrived to the restaurant, they tried to seat us outside but luckily found a table inside as we requested for it. The view and ambiance was perfect. That's pretty much where it ended. They had a company dinner there that night and a few large tables so everything we ordered, took awhile to get to us. Appetizer was good but we didn't get plates to eat off of. By the time our entrees came, 45 mins after our appetizer, my entree came out cold which I sent back and when it came back, it was piping hot. The mister's food was lukewarm but he was so hungry, he just ate it. His entree barely filled him up as well as mine. I suggested to him that we order another entree to split but he said he didn't want to wait another 45 mins to eat again. I had asked for another glass of Veuve Clicquot Rose (mister doesn't really drink or else I would have gotten the bottle to share), it never came. We decided against dessert because was unsure how long that would take. I would suggest coming here if you can just have drinks outside on the terrace for the spectacular view. Also, there was a small mice that was running around. The table next to mine saw it too. :/ We tried to tell the waiter but he waved us off as if we were crazy. I enjoyed every minute of my experience here. From the food, to the view, to the atmosphere, and the service. We came here on a Saturday night, and after taking all of the escalators to the restaurant, the view was amazing, especially the sign of the Eiffel Tower. We were promptly seated in the inside section (they have an inside and outside section) and the server came over right after we were seated. Even the simplicity of the table set up and roses in the middle of the table, it was amazing. We ordered several appetizers, our meal, and amazing desserts. We also all got glasses of wine, although I don't remember the wine I ordered I know it was suggested by the waitress and tasted amazing. The atmosphere is electric for a dinner setting. A 180 degree view of Paris with the Eiffel Tower all the way to Notre Dame. The food amazing the wine list long enough to pair with the food. The restaurant is a little hard to find as most online directions don't tell you in English that it's located in the upper south south east corner of the Pompidou. You should also note there is a separate entrance on the court yard side of the building. The restaurant has free wifi a must for foreigners who don't have data plans in European countries. The wait staff isn't as attentive as one would except at these price points. I know it seems petty but we had to keep pouring our own wine throughout the night. All and all a worthy expierence just make sure you know how to get here and be ready to do some of your own service. Review edited to add the payment of our bill. In our week so far in Paris we've never been asked to tip here 20% was the minimum. Every local I've spoken to suggested maybe 10% if the service was exceptional. read more

We arrived early and were seated immediately. After enjoying the stunning views for twenty minutes we asked the hostess to send our server around. The server came immediately and we ordered a cocktail and meals. The cocktails and first course were presented simultaneously, my wife's cocktail without ice, which came about fifteen minutes later. I must say my green bean salad was excellent as were the escargots that followed. It seemed the servers were more interested in being admired for their abbreviated dresses than serving skills. And the award for the most spectacularly terrible and embarrassing restaurant experience of my life goes to Georges. It goes something like this: Six colleagues and I walked into Georges with a booking. That's three Americans, two Germans, a Brit, and a French. Beginning of a bad joke, I know, I know. First, the hostess seemed to have misplaced our reservation, so after some back and forth, we settled on a table inside rather than on the vast patio (which did, indeed, have empty tables that could accommodate us, and were never filled throughout the evening.) Typical model-first-server-second-quality service... skipping people while pouring wine, walking away half way through taking the order... no big deal. When our food arrived, six of us were delighted to tuck in. But unfortunately our French colleague was not so lucky to receive his food. After 5 minutes of waiting, he asked the waitress, who, without acknowledging any mistake, said it was coming. The rest of us started eating. Another 10 minutes went by without food for our colleague, so we flagged down another waitress who claimed there had been an "accident" with his order, and that it would come right out. Finally, after about 10 MORE minutes - long after the rest of us as FINISHED our meals - our colleague's food came out with nary an apology. He did calmly express a bit of disappointment, and that he wished the waitress would make up for it in some way. She acknowledged that she would handle it. He ate awkwardly, alone, at the head of the table while the rest of us stared at our clean plates, putting a bit of a sour note on the evening. When the bill came (I was paying), I noted that the waitress had not removed our colleague's cod. Our colleague, one of two who spoke French fluently enough to sort it out, called the waitress over to the table and asked about it. That's when she claimed that she removed several of the beers we drank to even out the cost, and walked away. We added up the beverages, and realized she hadn't removed a single thing. She was summoned again. This time she claimed that if she were to adjust the bill for us - ideally removing the cod that came after the end of the meal - that the cost would have to come out of her own pocket. A strange guilt trip, to be sure, but we asked to speak to her manager to sort it out. Nearly 15 minutes went by, and the restaurant was emptying out. We noted our server huddling with another employee and pointing at our table. Eventually, the other employee walked over to clear away some stuff rom the table, and our French colleagued asked if he was the manager. His response was inconclusive: "There are several managers on the floor. How can I help?" My colleague explained the situation, and the conversation got rather heated, as the gentleman was clearly unwilling to make any adjustment to the bill. Eventually I spoke up and told him the establishment should be embarrassed; if we're spending over 500 euros on a meal, we should expect them to do the honourable thing after such a mistake The man walked away with the bill. Ten minutes went by. He returned to announce he had removed two beers from the bill. If it wasn't meant as an insult, I'd be shocked. The argument (in French) got heated again, as my colleague asked three times to speak to his boss, who the gentleman claimed didn't exist. Finally, a threat: "You can speak to the director, but I'm warning you, she will put those two beers back onto the bill and leave you with nothing." He walked away to supposedly summon the director, but another 10 minutes went by and no one came back. The restaurant was emptying, and it was after 11pm. We decided to stand up as a group and walk towards the exit, hoping to summon some sort of response to our problem with the bill. We, indeed, got a response. We were quickly surrounded by staff members that seemed to appear out of nowhere, and a woman (the one who seated us) walked over and claimed she was the director. Our colleague explained the entire episode to her, and, after some quasi-insults from her about how cute it was that he brought his American colleagues to the restaurant, she removed the cod from the bill. I paid the tab, and we left... but not before our waitress kindly wished us a good night. When that happened, another waitress told her off for being kind to us, right in front of us. And THAT'S the kind of place Georges is. As far as I can tell, what happened was our waitress wanted to save face and not admit to us or her managers that she forgot to put in our colleague's food. Twice. So, she asked another staffer to pretend to be a manager, and all together avoided telling the actual management about the situation. When she was forced to, she lied and made it seem like we requested the food later, which isn't true. All in all, it was an incredibly awkward, embarrassing, and uncomfortable evening. read more

On the top of the Pompidou Museum, this place has so much going for it. Spectacular views, an international clientele out for fun, food that's well above average for an expensive tourist spot, and a wait staff that could double as models for Vogue. So why ruin the experience by doing stereotypical scam things that target visitors who are less experienced with local customs? They up-sell silly things like overpriced bottled waters, and then they claim that service is not included in the bill (it is, by law) and ask that you pay an additional 20% tip. It's rather pathetic and shameful behavior by the staff, who are paid a decent living wage according to local laws. Is there some directive by restaurant management to act this way? The Museum should not allow such practices on its premises. It creates a bad feeling about the Pompidou as a whole. We had a fabulous night despite the staff's bad behavior, but I recommend avoiding this restaurant until it changes its ways. read more

Was visiting Paris on business, and was invited to a dinner here with several colleagues. Unfortunately, they didn't consult me and I didn't consult Yelp in advance. As others have mentioned, the view is spectacular, especially if you drive a hard bargain with the hostesses and get seated in one of the choice window tables facing the Eiffel Tower or another Paris landmark. Having said that, you can get a great view from the top of the Eiffel Tower too. Actually, I would say the food wasn't bad. It wasn't fabulous, but it wasn't bad. I had the crab and avocado appetizer, which I actually thought was quite tasty, and was a nice start to the evening. For dinner, I had the lamb loin, which was also pretty decent tasting (especially after my disastrous meal the night before ... see my review of Chez Andre). My biggest gripe about Le Georges was that it was so loud, you couldn't hear yourself think, let alone your dinner companions talk. Le Georges felt more like a nightclub full of the BCBG than a restaurant (complete with the hot hostesses in slinky outfits). The service was slow, but it was pleasant, but the whole experience was less than enjoyable. read more

Do not go here for the food as it was horrible. Only go for the amazing view. Amazing view, good service and bad food. I had a couple of glasses of Cotes de Provence for 12E/each and the chicken caesar salad. The salad was disappointing and pretty much inedible. I ended up leaving most of it on my plate as the chicken was disgusting and neither the Parmesan cheese nor the dressing had any flavor. Even the lettuce was yellow and old looking. The role was hard and the butter was cold pre-packed and flavorless. The table next to me ordered the Club sandwich which looked amazing. I'd choose carefully so you're not disappointed. I went here because my friend told me there is a great view of Paris from the roof top of the Pompidou Center - for free. This is not true. If you go to the top floor it is completely enclosed in (Dirty) glass so the only way to get a decent view is to go to this restaurant. The restaurant however only has a view from one side, so it is not at all panoramic. It was afternoon so we decided to go in for a bottle of wine. We didn't have anything to eat. Even though the place was about 80% empty they told us they had no seats available for non-diners so we had to sit inside. Luckily my husband speaks French and pretty much told them that was ridiculous. So they gave us a table outside - as far to the back as possible. It was afternoon mind you.. not dinner time, but all of the tables were set for dinner and they had to clear one so we could have drinks -which is why they first told us we had to sit inside. The wine was nice, not cheap of course, but the service was slow regardless of the fact that there were pretty much more wait staff than actual customers. It wasn't a particularly bad experience or anything, but I certainly would not take any guests here again. There are much, much more impressive establishments in Paris. The view, decor (and waitresses) imbue you with the inspired beauty that is Paris's specialty. You can see the whole city from your table - it's only a few stories up yet you feel like you are dining in the clouds. But, given the prices, the service is atrocious. The hostess was very friendly, but once we sat, we waited 15 minutes for menus. My friend is fluent in French, so she asked the waiter for some water. He came back another 15 minutes later and threw it on the table. We ordered some spring rolls, bread, and a 1/2 bottle of wine. My friend asked the waiter to bring mustard for the bread (spicy mustard is a fixture at almost every restaurant in Paris). He said, "Mustard?!" Then audibly sighed, rolled his eyes and walked away without saying anything. This attitude was a fixture throughout the meal. Everywhere else in Paris, even if the service isn't over the top good, it's at least passable, despite the stereotypes you hear. This was definitely my first experience with a server who wanted my entire lineage to die. If you don't mind the cost and are in no rush, many other servers did appear to be better and our spring rolls were awesome. read more

We ate dinner here on 12/24 and had a very good experience and good food. We saw many reviews here commented on bad service but our service was fine. We had the foies gras for 2 which was nice but the toast it was served on was sub par but we just put it on the rolls they provided and that worked out great. We also both ordered the beef w bernaise sAuce and that was very good. Nice flavor and not tough. Generous side of mashed potatoes. We tried four of the wines and 3 of them were really quite good. The only mild disappointment was the Pinot noir. The Bordeaux and the Sancerre were outstanding especially for the price. For dessert we had millefois which was not bad but I would not recommend, and the chocolate cake which was very good. And yes, the view was fantastic. And the live DJ did a nice job of mixing it up. Appropriate Holliday music but some massive attack and other nice contemporary surprises along the way. We saw one review griping about the plastic chairs but we found them to be perfectly comfortable. Atmosphere wise the only complaint was the lights embedded in the tables. You really can't beat the views from this place, but overall it was a bit too overpriced for the food quality and portion. We went with the carpaccio, which was excellent, but very expensive. Same goes for the cocktails. Despite some of the other reviews, our service was excellent. The place is a little swanky looking, but there were plenty of tourists who weren't too dressed up, so I wouldn't worry about it. The next time I would only stop up here for a drink and a light appetizer and move on from there. read more
