I needed to swing by Le Mil's before heading down to Chinatown for the last day of Autumn Moon Festival. This was more than just another vibrant café; it holds enchanted Indian elements that surrounded the entire interior, ranging from their exquisite golden seating designs to amazing authentic pastries. Even though I didn't have extra time to spare to go up to the second floor, it's great to see the baristas from yesterday were doing an amazing job and allot of customers have started to cozy up an airy space. While some of their pastries were perfectly eggless, all the drinks including the former specials, were mostly espresso related. No masala chai nor dirty chai; just the kind with its espresso shot like the Almost Latte which I had. I'll be back once again before the early afternoon closure to see what else shall I savor even more. read more

Great coffee and service. There was a small line out the door as they recently opened but it moved quickly to order. We tried the espresso blossom tonic and the spiced cold brew. Out of the two drinks the espresso tonic was far superior and refreshing. One of the better espresso tonics I've had! The spiced cold brew was good as well but not my favorite. We also tried a mango cardamom pastry which was very delicious and paired very well with our coffees! We ordered and waited inside but the interior of this shop was unusually warm and it wasn't a relatively warm day that day. It felt way too warm in there so we took our coffees to go and walked around the neighborhood. Definitely stop in and give them a try and hopefully they can resolve the temperature situation inside the cafe as the double height interior is charming and filled with lovely natural light. read more

It is exciting to see an Indian coffee shop. The idea of filter coffee common place in SF is amazing ! We ordered 1 SoFi and 1 Almost Latte. I love the addition of chicory to coffee as it's less acidic and it was interesting to try the non caffeinated 'Almost Latte' option. The filter coffee had its unique taste with a hint of cardamom and use of jaggery for sweetness. In that sense, it's quite unique compared to even filter coffee one might get at a South Indian restaurant. We tried the mango cake and it was just okay. What would be exciting to see is some savory Indian bites like egg puffs and veg puffs that could pair well with mild sweetness of the coffees. We got seated upstairs and picked up our coffee when our name was called out. They also have a small area on the bottom floor towards the back for seating which is a bit hidden. The top floor gives a good view of the cafe but it was quite warm upstairs on not the hottest day. Other people upstairs seem to agree that it felt quite hot. I think they are aware of this and have tried to put a couple of tower fans that help some. There is no air conditioning in the cafe. They have tried to add a good touch to the interiors with the plants on the ceiling and colorful elephant printed pillows. I don't know if the decorative installation on the ceiling is a missed opportunity for ceiling fans. read more

I read about Le Mil's--some local engineers opened up SF's first Indian coffee shop! They serve specialty coffee from India. Nice space to work out of or read! Cute South Asian decor and design. Clientele seemed diverse in terms of ages and backgrounds. Lots of seating (there's 2 floors and a nice comfy area in the back.) Service was helpful and nice. I enjoyed the SoFi (only hot, no iced, $6.50.) Will be back! read more

I do like their pound cake with hint of cardamom and anise. That is what the taste buds are saying. They have little cup cakes in it's on tiny container. Very cute. Great fast service. read more

We stopped by Le Mil's during their soft opening and really enjoyed the experience! It's a new Indian inspired coffee spot in the heart of the Tenderloin, and it definitely brings something different to the neighborhood. I ordered the Almost Latte, iced, and thought it was pretty good. You can really taste the herbs and spices they use to infuse the coffee, which made it unique without being overwhelming. My friend ordered the Pink Panther, and we had very different opinions on it. For me, it was way too bitter and reminded me of a Chinese herbal tea ! But my friend actually liked that hint of bitterness and thought it was unusual in a good way. The décor and ambiance are beautiful, modern, and comfortable. We especially loved the upstairs area. Overall, a fun and unique new coffee spot. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking to try something different! read more

I'm not an expert at filter coffee but this one didn't taste like the ones I had in the South Bay. It had a much stronger spice to it, to the point where I really didn't taste much of the coffee. Felt more like spiced milk? --- Super hot and humid inside. Not sure if their fans/AC stopped working, but it was at least 5-10F hotter inside the shop than outside the shop, and quite stuffy. They had a tall rotating cylindrical fan on each of their two floors but it wasn't doing much beyond 5-6 ft beyond the fan. - Bathroom was out of order. That's a bummer if you're there for any length of time. Not dinging big-time for this because I'm sure that's temporary. Cute cute place. I figure they'll fix the bathroom soon, the AC eventually, but we may just differ on the filter coffee! read more

Beautiful space! I am thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail and south asian decor pieces. They're still in soft opening, but definitely worth a visit! I have never had an espresso tonic I enjoyed till I tried their Pink Panther & Blossom Tonic! The flavors are truly unique and complement the coffee so well. I'd actually come back just for this! Their spiced cold brew was another light, not too sweet and perfectly spiced option. I loved that it didn't feel too heavy. And last but not least, they're bringing filter coffee to SF. I'm not an expert on filter coffee, but this one comes spiced with a masala jaggery (reminiscent of chai spices). This is not my personal preference for filter coffee as I like it simple and sweet, but this is still fairly good! read more

Stopped in during their soft launch and was very impressed. As an Indian person, I've never been one for any version of tea/coffee with spices BUT I'm a sucker for a good cup. I tried the Spiced Cold Brew with the cold foam and it had very deep flavors, with the right amount of sweetness. They have a much more inventive menu as well if you're looking for something more familiar and the Parle G cookies is a very nice touch. We ordered: 1) SoFi: jaggery latte , gave me filter coffee vibes , nostalgic af but the parle g that came with it was precariously balanced on the rim of the cup. So you can't bring it to your seat without grabbing it in one hand and your cup in the other. Easy fix here would be to serve it on a saucer. 4/5 2) blossom tonic: a little sweeter than I like my tonic but the floral and citrus flavors paired perfectly with the shot of espresso and tonic water. 4/5 Service was friendly and the interior has plenty of seating. I wasn't impressed by the bean selection. One was preground and mixed with chicory, that's a no from me. The other was roasted a little darker than I prefer with an earthy flavor profile. The third was single origin from India but didn't display roast profile or tasting notes. Would like to see some lighter roast with fruity profiles in the future. read more

I went for their grand opening on Aug 15 and the line was out the door, but they were very efficient in serving everyone. I also liked their indoor decor. The ceiling baskets, elephant theme cushions, beautiful indoor plants and stylish chairs were also very thoughtful touches. They have some nice items on their menu, so I'll need to come back. We ordered one SoFi. While the service was amazing but the coffee was no where close to good. It should not have Cardamom. This one had a very strong flavour of it. The coffee also had a harsh bitter taste at the end rather than a balanced bitter one. read more
