3 stars for the food. I would pass on the desserts. Walking into this place is like walking into someone's home...plants in the patio area, a resident tabby outside, and worn couches when you first walk in...a very relaxed atmosphere. I've been here to eat and take out of the beef stew with egg noodles which are both yummy. What you get when dining in is what you get when you take it to go. They pack it nicely in separate containers (noodles and accompaniments in one container, hot broth in another). This place is on the pricier side but then again im comparing it to the prices in downtown Oakland which probably isn't fair. Dessert is 'okay'. Found a Vietnamese place to go... Getting here is hard as Hayward downtown area has changed and there are so many one-way streets. I recommend to go come from D street to enter in their private parking. Fair warning!! If you don't want a ding in your nice car, don't bring it to this parking lot. The parking space is tight as hell!! Good thing we have back cameras ...lol! One side of the parking is angled while the other is parallel but it doesn't give you enough room to turn. There is restaurant entrance from the parking lot. You can actually see their kitchen on the way to the front. Place is pretty clean. The set up of the restaurant is kinda weird to me. I would never think this was a Vietnamese place but a French place as their are so many pictures of Paris on the walls. They have a huge pastry stand by the back wall. Not meaning a lot of pastry choices but the container that holds them. It's very old and needs an upgrade. Definitely not a fancy place. The place gets really packed here and a lot of to-go orders! Good thing they have a two couches in the front to wait for it!its old couches but they put blankets to cover it. The lady taking our order was funny but helpful. She was all over the place too. We ordered their Calamari which was cooked right and not chewy. We ordered the green papaya salad. This was good but they put way to much basil. My kids and hubby ordered the Thin Sliced Beef meat for their Pho soup while I ordered the Egg Noodle pork wonton soup. The broth was very good but I would have preferred the pho white noodles than egg noodles. Egg thin noodles are not my favorite. The pork meat was good and flavorful in the won ton wrapper but the meat seemed kinda tough. It might just be me but I have had softer. I also ordered avocado shake. It was a little pricey than I expected but when I tasted it, it had real avocados in it. Pretty good and not too sweet. I will have to try their other soups, sandwiches, vermicelli or rice plates as I see many ordering those but it was a cold day and I wanted soup. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Le Paradis. On a Saturday afternoon some friends and I decided to go. There were eight of us. They have a small parking lot in the back. There's plenty of seating on the inside to accommodate larger groups. Le Paradis has Vietnamese food and full cafe & bakery. We ordered lunch, and while we were waiting our server brought out some pastries for us to snack on while we waited. The wait wasn't too long and for our group of eight they brought out all the food so that there weren't some waiting over others. I ordered the #30 Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Pork, Shrimp and Egg Rolls. It was pretty tasty. I also had an Vietnamese Iced Coffee which had a balance between caffeine and sweetness. My friend ordered some of their macaroons to-go, not sure how she liked them but they looked good. The last thing I wanted to mention is they allowed us to do separate checks, we each went up to the register, told her what items we ordered and they processed it separately so we didn't have to spend time calculating how to split up the bill. We sat down and we're waiting for a couple more friends to join our group..she made it a point to approach our table 3 times and asked if we were ready. We weren't ready and her tone when she asked us if we were ready to order was very RUSHY and RUDE. I don't understand this type of customer service. You have a business open to serve your customers they come into your business expecting good customer service not MEDIOCRE service and RUSHED service. At first I thought it was because they closed in an hour but, more people came in and she was extra nice to them. Regardless the service sucked because we felt rushed and the food was so so. A friend and I shared their grilled chicken spring rolls, combination beef pho, and bbq pork and shrimp vermicelli with egg rolls. The meat seemed a little overcooked, but overall I really liked the flavoring of the broth and noodles. Their peanut sauce was also very good. I wouldn't recommend buying anything from their bakery. We eat here frequently, and have not had a bad meal here. The staff is very friendly and helpful with advice. The fried calamari appetizer is one of our favorites, and I often have the house fried rice. My partner usually has one of the pho dishes and is happy with all that he has had. The portions are abundant, and we always have enough for a second meal. When we have taken guests, they have always been very pleased with their selections. Parking can be a problem, but we have always managed,. I would highly recommend Le Paradis. The menu is very extensive and should have something for everyone in your party. I have found place to go before class for the next 2 years. There are two key elements to this place: Bakery and Restaurants The meringues are amazing.. yes.. I have tried all the flavors.. my favorites being the lemon, strawberry and almond. They are huge in a twisty shape for 1.50 each. I work in Hayward and I was craving Vietnamese food so I looked up restaurants near my clinic and found this one. I ordered the rice plate with grilled pork and fried egg. When I got my order for takeout I was surprised at the little portion for the meal. The cost was $16.56 but I received one small cup of rice, one cup of vegetables and about 15 strips of grilled pork. The fried egg was small too. Usually at my usual place for this dish I would get a heaping portion of food and the shredded pork would be at least 1.5 serving. I am just surprised at the quantity. The taste of the grilled pork was mediocre 3/5 at best and I felt like the rice was old or something kind of dry and not fresh. They gave me about half the container of fish sauce and I usually get a big container full. I am just disappointed with this restaurant and will not go back. read more

If you don't live in the area and was just driving by, the name Le Paradis does not sound like a place to eat Pho/Vietnamese food, it sounds like a french bakery. And when you walk in for the first time, it looks like a bakery... which it is but I think most patrons come for the Vietnamese restaurant... like me! The service is really nice here but the food is ultra yummy. I've ordered the crab and tomato noodle soup -- it is yummy and really hits the spot when your sick. One other time we came, we ordered the regular beef pho with extra tendons... they told us that most of their patrons do not eat tendons, so, they don't have it. SAD FACE. Tendons are so good too. I have never sampled a Vietnamese crepe before, and this one is delicious! A true hidden gem restaurant in Hayward. If your not from here you would overlook this place for sure! Family owned for over a decade. This little gem can look duvet the owner has her own garden on the corner and rubs this restaurant/bakery. We love going here for the Pho but as we take others here we have had the rice dishes, the spring rolls and a few others. The service is super friendly and the food is usually made in a timely manner and very good! There is a little parking lot so parking is easy. It's a little wierd because you have to approach the parking lot from a side street. Not "d" street. The baked good are very traditional french no high end cupcakes or fondont cakes...it's more buttercreams, and coffee cakes, and traditional cookies and wafers. She does do wedding cakes and things as well but I have never ordered one. Bottom line if you want Vietnamese food do not hesitate to give this place a shot. Glad I stopped by. The restaurant is on Mission in Hayward but it's hidden. Lots of one way streets but they do have their own parking in the back so don't miss that! The soup was great! Wonderful pho and a really delicious Spring roll. I did a to go order and they were right on time in fact even a little early. The bakery also looked wonderful and I tried a shortbread cookie which was delicious and reminded me of a Russian tea ball which is a very traditional shortbread cookie. They had a full or a of bakery items! The flavor of the broth in the pho was fantastic, you could tell it was authentic and as you enter the restaurant you can see everyone cooking up fresh food in the kitchen. I will be back here next time I'm in Hayward Ca. A great bonus is the fact that they have parking in the back which is quite limited around the streets so it was great to have a parking lot to simply pull in to. I was super excited to order some pho because the reviews are stellar. However, the food was not as awesome as the reviews were. I ordered the chicken pho and house fried rice. Both items were bland. However, the chicken in both was flavorful. The broth for the pho tasted just like chicken stock out of the box. The fried rice lacked salt. Also, they cut their shrimp into bite size pieces or slice them in half for the spring rolls. I'm not sure what that's about but it made me a little sad to not be able to receive shrimp in its entirety. I would give this place a second shot though, only for the pho. On they way to find this place I walk into a few wrong restaurants I finally found Le Paradis. The restraint had a good amount of seating and had that great pho soup smell in the air. So I went and found a seat looked over there menu and ordered a beef pho with egg noodles (regular) with extra meat ($2.00). The order came out fairly quick. I made my soup hire I like it and began to eat when I noticed the noodles were the rice noodles. I waived the lady down and tired her. She took my bowl and apologized and went to have a new one made there correct way. They brought everything out and I again made my soup how I liked it. I started with the beef and it was good with nice sized pieces the egg noodles were good and very filling. The broth was so dang good I drank all of it. Been here a few times since my sister's work is around the corner! They have never failed me in any way.. well, except parking lol I have never ordered the same thing twice, since I trust whatever I feel like having is gonna be delicious! From the pho to the vermicelli to the rice plates, they're all so flavorful & well prepared. The food always comes out fresh! They've also never made a mistake with an order, which is a big plus for me. Alice is a sweetheart & has made little rounds to check on the guests! Today I had the grilled pork and shrimp with a fried roll rice plate; juicy pieces of meat, a nice hot helping of rice with a little side salad.. there was no stopping once I started! We also ordered a pecan tart, just for today. All their tarts are actually really good! The meringue is delicious as well, just not my cup of tea. The service is always above par & I love the food. Really interesting combination of a restaurant. It's sort of like Vietnamese meets Japanese meets French bakery. Not necessarily bad, I've just never seen a combo like this before. Came here because I was really craving pho. They don't have some of the options I'm used to seeing (like pho with tripe, or brisket), but I settled on a regular sized pho with rare steak and meatballs and it was pretty tasty. The broth was full of flavor and they brought out an assortment of sauces for us to pair with our meal. The pork and shrimp spring rolls were also good too, and I liked that they didn't have a ton of it just sitting in the back. You can tell when a place does this when you place an order, and the dish is in front of you 5 seconds later. At this place, they actually rolled it when you placed the order, which is always a thumbs up in my book. Overall, I recommend this place for anyone looking for good food in the area. read more

Vietnamese food is one my favorites, but I am picky. I was unsure about this place at first, mainly because I was confused by what they actually served here. Once I got past that and stopped judging a book by it's cover, I was pleasantly surprised. The food here has flavor and is seriously delicious! I come here at least once a week and have brought family who visit from other cities and they seriously love it! My family has named me #47 because that's basically what I order here! What a disappointment on the Mango mousse cake for a birthday! I was informed this had no cake in it just mango mousse with frosting outside. What I received was a thick layer of frosting, 2 layers of cake that was not fresh baked very dry and mango in between. Not recommended!! read more
