We really enjoyed their food. I wish they had a Lee's Famous Chicken in California. Service was very quick and friendly. It is a smaller fast food restaurant. It does have indoor seating and a drive-through if you're in a hurry. There are a few tables and chairs with a lot of windows, so it is light and bright. This location is a solid choice. The wait, especially in the drive thru can be long, but its worth it especially on Monday and Wednesday when they have the daily specials which is when I stop by. My orders are always piping hot and fresh... nothing seems to sit under warming lamps here for long! I will say the sides items are on the skimpy side but then I am there for the chicken and chicken strips, which are usually a good size, great breading and again, piping hot. The chicken pot pie is seasonal and is worth every single fat gram you could calculate! I ordered the Wednesday three-piece special via the drive-thur. I asked for particular pieces of chicken and after paying for the order the cashier stated that I did not receive the Wednesday special because I asked for specific pieces of chicken. Therefore, I was charged full price for my meal. I also ordered a pint of gizzards with gravy, and the gravy was not added to my order. I called the Manager when I arrived home to discuss the situation That had occurred at the drive-through and was disappointed at her handling the situation. She was rude and not willing to listen or address my concerns. I am a business owner myself, and I always want to make sure that my customers feel valued. I understand that it can be overwhelming at times working in this industry. But the experience that I experienced yesterday with the staff was unacceptable, and the food was very mediocre at its best. I have to come home and make my own gravy to put on the gizzards that had way too much breading on them. This particular Lee's Chicken is usually on point when I come through to order food. They were on point again today, because I got some hot, fresh, tasty chicken strips and potato wedges from these good folks and none of it tasted questionable, like at the same restaurant down in Danville, Ky. Ok, I've been wanting to try this place for a year and finally had a chance. Looks are deceiving. The building looks like a dive and is even missing signage on the side. Needs updating inside as well. But, the chicken is awesome. We ordered the 8 pc box with a mix of (4) traditional famous recipe and (4) spicey. The spicey was awesome and is a little more crispy. Our sides were coleslaw (really good) and mac n cheese (average). Tons of sauces to select from as well. Will deffinitely be back. read more

Eh I haven't reviewed this in a while so let's.do it. They don't have a huge menu (KFC probably has more options) but the things they do have are very good. I got my usual which is the 6 piece Spicy Chicken Strip and mashed potatoes on the side. The breading is soooooo delicious and while not super spicy has enough to warrant the spicy label. Tremendous flavour in any case and nice, big, meaty strips really finish off a delicious effort here. I like it with sweet and hot dipping sauce. I got mashed potatoes and gravy for my side this time and while I think KFC's version is a little better this was pretty darn good. They also have great mac and cheese that I've had in the past that I highly recommend. Rounding out the meal are great biscuits which I like to dip into my gravy. The service has been great here most every time I've been here and prices are very affordable. Great place to take the family for a great inexpensive dinner or a quick lunch. read more

I asked one of the fella's that I'm working with this week where I could find some good fried chicken in these parts. Well, there's Kentucky Fried Chicken (hello... I'm in KENTUCKY. Although I've never had a KFC while in the K so maybe it's better?) And there's also Lee's. Now in California, when you go to a restaurant named Lee's, you'll usually end up with Chinese take-out. Down here, you get some fairly tasty fried chicken. Lee's is a regional chain that's been around since the mid 1960's. They serve up a flavorful crunchy fried chicken (beats KFC in my book, at least CA-KFC), the mashed potatoes are good as well. The gravy is lighter in color and accentuated with black pepper grindings. The cole slaw is similar in appearance as KFC, but a little more on the sweet side. (pics are posted) They also serve up their famous recipe southern sweet tea here (also available by the gallon). I heard a few people going through the drive-thru ordering the gallons. All in all, not too shabby. I'm full, don't feel overly greasy, and after typing this up, I'm probably ready to shower up and sleep it off. This place was really close to my hotel and overall, im glad I came. It's similar to other fast food chicken places so I wasnt expecting much. For two pieces, two sides, a biscuit and a drink it was about $6.50. The chicken was incredibly juicy but the place gets 3 stars because the sides felt like the sides I remember getting in my high school cafeteria. The mac and cheese were watery. First time trying this chain and was honestly somewhat dissapointed, I had ordered the 2 peice combo with a side of baked bans and a small gizzards on the side because I love them. The chicken peices itself was good and the beans were pretty greta as well, however the gizzards I recieved were not chewy at all and the breading covering them was soggy and not crunchy at all. Now maybe I got a bad batch, but for now at least until I return a 3 star is as high as I'll go. The breading was tasty and crisp. I waited for over an hour to eat it and it was still crispy. It wasn't soggy like how other tenders become. The meat was good. It wasn't dry and bland. When I asked the hotel receptionists what would be a local food well-known around the area and the response was "well, we have Kentucky Fried Chicken, but I guess you can find them everywhere now", I grimaced. Here, I had the best Fried Chicken - freshly made, extremely hot on the outside AND inside. I tried the Hot and Spicy and Original - They were both totally de-li-cious. The sign stated that they only use fresh, NEVER frozen chicken, which would explain the amazing taste. The spices used are similar to KFC for the chicken. There are also many different kinds of sauces available for dipping but the chicken was perfect without any of them. The mash potatoes and gravy were quite bland - I definitely am addicted to KFC on this item. The cole slaw was surprisingly similar to KFC's. What makes this place different from KFC's in the West are the artery-clogging fried chicken livers and gizzards. I didn't so much cared about the breading surrounding them which were rather soft but loved the spices used to cook them. I was in Kentucky and did not want to have KFC. I wanted better. Now this is a regional chain, so i thought of trying them. I wanted to like this, really I did. But, when the best part of the meal is the green beans there's a serious problem. First off let's start with the chicken. I got a mix between spicy and oven roasted. Now, being in Kentucky I though Hot & Spicy would pack quite a punch; sadly that left much to be desired. The oven roasted chicken was run of the mill and didn't wow me, but let's face it this is a "fried" chicken place not a roasted chicken place. On to the sides: Horrible and dry Mac n Cheese that pales in comparison to KFC. Potato Wedges were good and not covered in oil. Biscuits were ok, and the green beans were cooked with some other meat (ham?) because there were small pieces of it in the container. Another thing that was disappointing was that the menu touts a variety of sauces for dipping but there's no to go containers for them so you can't get any unless you dine in. I'm from New York and this place KICKED ASS! it was like KFC if KFC used really good ingredients (instead of awful fast foody ingredients). I had the chicken livers cuz i never tried chicken liver before (my dad never gave ME chicken livers) and it was so good. The only issue was they gave me so much food i couldn't finish it all!
