Good Bahn Mi's. Loved the grilled pork bahn mi and breakfast versions are also good. Veggie egg roll was awesome with cabbage, carrots, rice noodles, and tofu inside. The mixed meat spring rolls I would not order again. I thought these were going to be the classic kind with shrimp and pork, but the meats were kind of strange and I wasn't really sure what I was eating. Flavor was not too good. You also have to order the peanut sauce separately for $1.50, which is a little odd compared to other vietnamese restaurants in town that include it for free. Online ordering is easy and pick up is simple. Located in the Safeway shopping center on Tassajara. I will continue to come back for the bahn mi's and egg rolls. They are always so on top of things, and everytime the bahn mi's seem to get better and better. I crave the vegan deluxe every night. I can't even explain. We found out about Lee's by accident, when I was chatting with a Vietnamese salesman we were buying furniture from and I asked where he went for Banh Mi, which happens to be one of my favorite sandwiches. San Jose, he said, rattling off a few names. Somewhere closer perhaps, I persisted. Lee's in east Dublin then, next to Safeway, was his confident response. So a few weeks later, when my Banh Mi craving resurfaced, the family and I headed to Lee's. It was almost closing time, but there was a line. There was no paper menu to peruse, as they're all digital, with a signboard with revolving images of delicious looking Vietnamese sandwiches, spring rolls, and soups. The kids were famished so we bought their four remaining sesame balls, then ordered a pork belly Banh Mi and a Euro sandwich - steak and cheese on croissant - #3 and #52 respectively. We took these sandwiches to go as they'd closed by the time our order was complete, and inhaled them, they were so good. Two days later, we were back, with the same order, except we added one more sandwich (grilled chicken Banh Mi #4). And then again, three days after that, except we now ordered two #52's and another type of Banh Mi in ADDITION to the #3 and #4. Because these Banh Mi sandwiches are addictive - the baguettes fresh, the daikon vegetables crunchy and the meat oh so juicy and flavorful. And my wife and kids LOVE the #52 Euro croissant sandwiches - the beef is tender, the lettuce and tomato slices crisp and the melted cheese oh so good! And because these sandwiches are so affordable - $5 to $7 each, which is unheard of for high quality food nowadays! I ended up trying Lee's Sandwiches when I was in the area and in the mood for a Bahn Mi sandwich. I found Lee's on Yelp and I am so glad I did. I ordered a #5 Grilled Pork/Xa XIu (house mayonnaise, pickled carrots & daikon, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeños, onions, salt & pepper, & soy sauce) and a Thai Iced Tea. I ordered it with extra Jalapeños. My sandwich was flavored and the vegetables were pickled perfectly and nice and crisp. The thai iced tea was delicious also and not too sweet. I really enjoyed the customer service as well. I ordered my food to go and it was prepared quickly. The restaurant was also clean and packed, which I took as a great sign. Got the #1 today I literally pulled out 5 pieces of crushed bone from my sandwich! Like chunks of crushed bone. I don't know if it was in the head cheese or the pate? Since my last review, I've came a couple more times. I didn't know they actually stay pretty busy! The past few times I have been here for their iced coffee, there's always a good amount of people waiting for their order and/or in line. I've ordered once on the phone, answered by an automated system which is pretty cool. My order was ready in a couple mins of my phone call. I also noticed that they took my review into consideration and placed a hand sanitizer bottle AND a hand sanitizer disposing box inside the store - I appreciate that! I learned that like at other places, the viet coffee is already pre-made so sweetness level can't be adjusted much. Some days I get a coffee sweeter than others so it depends on who is making it. I did learn that I can ask for it extra strong so when it IS extra strong, it hits the spot. The staff has always been courteous. I can't help but notice how much variety they have to their menu - asian buns, skewers, banh mi, banh mi bowls, smoothies, boba, and coffee. I had to drop off my car at Dublin Toyota in the morning, so I was looking for breakfast places nearby. I was planning on Bagel Street Cafe but was surprised Lee's Sandwiches was also open. Out of curiosity I stepped in to give it a try. Lee's is a modern Vietnamese sandwich joint with a pretty broad menu. I like the concept - several dozen variations of Banh Mi, Vietnamese appetizers like spring rolls, fried goodies on display, steamed bao, desserts, and even more elaborate dishes like beef stew. I was surprised to see cannoli among the dessert options. I ordered a breakfast baguette of eggs, portobello, and cheese. This normally includes bell pepper but they ran out :(. Still, a very tasty sandwich and well made. Incredibly soft, chewy bread with a crispy outer crust (love that asymmetry!) and portobello mushrooms that are borderline sweet as they've added some sauce I think to bolster the natural umami of the mushroom. I liked the texture of the mushroom too. Eggs and cheese added some nice richness. This is one of the better breakfast sandwiches I've had in a while! First off, I meant to give 3.5 stars, but yelp doesn't support half star increments, apparently. So my review is the same as the old one. The food is GREAT! I even recommended it to my coworkers..even though I'm sure they know Lees's, alreadt. They've been pretty consistent with my orders (and with covid, I've been ordering a lot more often), but getting the order instructions right is still an issue that pops up every so often. I am allergic to a certain ingredient and when it finds its way into my food, I'm obviously reluctant to eat it. And with online delivery and the tip I give Doordash's employees, it feels like a waste, despite what everyone's hard work. The worst part is that just as I notice that my instructions weren't completely acknowledged, I try to call in at least 3 times and as I'm waiting, the connection ends (like the call was dropped). I don't mind being put on hold, but to have to be hung up on on multiple/consecutive times (accidentally, intentionally, etc) is extremely frustrating. It shouldn't be this difficult to say "there's something wrong with the food your business prepared and that I just received". And I know it gets busy there and I understand that mistakes happen for these delicious sandwiches! Mistakes happen and a busy business is more often than not a great sign! But I really hope there's an easier way to communicate for your customers that are trying not to go onsite. (Honestly, when I do go to pick up my order, I often check my sandwich in the parking lot before heading home, because it's too much trouble to drive back and it's a coin toss calling the store, as I explained above). read more
