I was really happy when I found this Lee's Sandwiches closer to home but my first order with them went from disappointing to bad. I made an online order on their website yesterday afternoon for 4 sandwiches and a french baguette. Online checkout was easy and my order was ready when I picked it up about 30 minutes later. I ordered the Banh Mi Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork), Banh Mi Tau Hu Xa (Lemongrass Tofu), Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special Combo), and Banh Mi Ba Chi Gion (Crispy Pork Belly). My requests for vegetables in specific sandwiches and on the side were followed perfectly. The Banh Mi Thit Nuong and Banh Mi Tau Hu Xa were great and we had no complaints about that. My Banh Mi Dac Biet order was incorrect, but edible - they gave me a Banh Mi Cha Lua Pate, which was incredibly disappointing since I love the banh mi dac biet from Lee's and I always order it. I didn't take any photos because I was willing to let it go and not post a bad review, since I still ate the sandwich and it was only an 80 cent difference. What made me post a 2* review is the Banh Mi Ba Chi Gion. The pork belly was decently seasoned but was slathered in spicy mayo, so I gave the sandwich to my mom. She ate half of it last night and her initial review was that the meat was a bit tough and burnt and not worth $8.50, but again, edible. She took the other half to work today and while eating it, she found a large piece of plastic wrap inside the sandwich. Which explains the quality of the pork belly but also is a huge oversight. Hell NO to this location. The CASHIER is the worst and the rudest person. Their customer service went downhill. They are not friendly. I asked the cashier if they had chicken eggs rolls and he said it's right there?! Ummmm... I asked him which ones is it because they don't have labels on the front to tell you what is what. He kept saying right there with an attitude, and again I asked which ones and he said I'm pointing at it. This particular Lee's is an upgrade compared to all of the other Lee's Sandwiches I've been to in San Jose (but it's been a while so maybe those places upgraded as well). When you walk in, You wouldn't think you're at a banh mi shop, but you are. As far as quality, I think the banh mi sandwiches are average and I think the prices aren't normal. I usually get the grilled pork and bbq pork, or the crispy pork belly. I tried out the shrimp, pork, and taro egg rolls and they were okay. I wasn't sure how the taro would taste, but it's not too bad. I also usually get an iced mocha, but every time I get them I'm reminded that the drink is mostly just ice lol still good though. Special shout out to Trinity for being an awesome cashier :) I don't know her personally. I just saw her name on my receipt but she was very nice. She was busy doing something (maybe counting out?) when I came in. I told her she could finish whatever she was doing because I wasn't in a hurry, but she said she could take my order first. Came in during the covid pandemic. It was really busy. Had the Lee's combo sandwich #1 for $5.95. I walked up and ordered. You can order online via doordash and just go in to pick up. Not happy, the food wasn't exactly what I was expecting considering I always see it so busy. Maybe it was for the drinks. Got the Grilled chicken Banh Mi, it was dry and hard and worse, it was overly salty and peppered. Probably the marinade was too strong and chicken was in too long because even salty chicken doesn't make my mouth feel like its burning from sodium; 2 bottles of water couldn't help me wash it down I had to stop trying to eat it halfway and just take the chicken out. The pickled veggies were delicious. The chicken eggrolls were not what I expected either, as I thought there would be small bites of chicken or even shredded chicken; but I was sorely disappointed, because all I got was something like glass noodles and something similar to a pate that didn't remotely have ANY chicken taste. Okay, I just can't believe it took me this long to try Lee's Sandwiches. This place is amazing. The coffee I got from here was amazing and strong. I've had Vietnamese coffee before, but this iced coffee was everything. I ordered the ham, cheese and egg breakfast on a baguette and it was perfection. It was a little saltier than I imagined, but I'm sure it was from the ham. They give you a pretty big sandwich too and fill it up with egg and meat. I could only eat half and had to save the rest for later. I tried the fresh spring rolls too and they were unique! I would say 3.5/4 stars. I love their sandwiches and I got the pork sandwich and it's a killer size at 6.50! How can you beat that these days? Am a regular here. Not a happy customer here. Purchased two bowls and we were supposed to get 8 shrimp per bowl - has always been the case and even says so on the receipt, but they only put in *4 shrimp* per bowl (8 shrimp total). I also asked for avocado add-on x2 and received none. I do like the food but hate having to audit my order every from now on. I already ate the bowls after driving home so don't feel like I should march in and demand a refund. I have come here and few times and was surprised to see that I still hadn't written a review yet. This Lee's Sandwiches is so much cleaner and less messy than the other locations I have been to. They don't have a bunch of random stuff lying around, and all the packaged to go items look really fresh. I usually grab some fried items, sticky rice, banh beo etc., and a vietnamese iced coffee. I have been going to this place for years whenever I'm in the area, but last Thursday will be my last. I'm pretty sure my wife and I got the stomach flu from this place. Stopped in here for lunch the other day, after walking into the bagel bakery next door and seeing that they were out of most of their bagel selections. My husband and I both ordered a sandwich, mine on a croissant his on a French roll. We also got a fry, a meatball kabob, and a blended mocha. The croissants are big, and beautiful. I think they make them fresh there. My husbands sandwich ended up coming on one too, even though he ordered the French roll. Still no complaints because the croissants looked delicious. The biggest downfall and primary reason for taking away stars, is that they put a thick, sweet sauce on our sandwiches which we didn't expect and it wasn't specified on the menu. I felt that the sauce was over powering, and it actually made it hard for me to eat the sandwich. With that aside, the mocha, meatballs, and fries were all delicious. One last suggestion- I would recommend ordering to go because they have a very small, cramped dining space. The ladies working here are also very loud, and The place seems a bit hectic. Quick update review after two years. My partner works around the area, and we live in Oakley. He takes 580 to Vasco Rd going back, so this store is a convenient stop for him, and we love Lee's sandwich. We have never had any bad experiences since we started supporting the store from Santa Clara, San Jose, Hayward, and San Francisco. Except for this location in Dublin, CA, 3x my partner visited this store on different occasions after my initial review two years ago, and he was always missing an order; we always ordered, and the sandwich was not made correctly. We always had two sandwiches with extra meat ( we get charged additionally) plus a fresh roll. My partner's mistake is not checking the bag, but I can't blame him. He wants to get home because it takes about an hour to drive home. He wants to grab the order and leave. We can't go back and complain. But we learn our lesson. Your store is charging us an Extra $$, and we didn't get what we paid for. It's such a shame that this service keeps happening not just once, and the younger people who work at the front counter who have a simple task to do keeps failing like they don't care. Lee's is the perfect spot to pick up some picnic goodies. We ordered a bunch of combination banh mi's and chicken skewers. The baguette has the right amount of crunch and chewiness. The chicken skewers were delicious and easy to eat. My kids devoured it! We were able to order online, pick up in store, and head to the park right after. I ordered the following: - banh mi pate cha - banh mi thit nuong with no cucumber (not sure if it normally comes with cucumber but I specifically ordered this and the receipt indeed specified no cucumber; my bf is allergic to cucumber and does not like cha.) - sesame ball - banh bao I got home to find that they gave us 2 banh mi cha with cucumber, one with pate and one without.
