I sent a down jacket for dry cleaning. The lady examined my jacket and told me the price was $45, and I said okay. Half an hour later, they charged $70 on my credit card without any heads up... Avoid them if you can. Don't give them your credit card information. read more

She's not very nice to people who have been in the community. But she is very nice to the gentrifiers of the neighborhood. The woman who works there has a problem with fixing her own mistakes. She will gladly just smile and shrug it off like that's your problem not mine. When you are wrong you are wrong. Why the hell would you leave chalk on the clothes you fix? And then have the nerve to be upset with a customer because they want you take it off. (And I mean wash it off. It was yellow chalk on a white artical!) She is over priced and has a horrible attitude when she doesn't need to. She was incredibly rude to my mother and honestly there are better places. Do not waste your time, you can find a cheaper place with better atmosphere. If I could give her no stars I would and at this point Yelp I think it should be an option. NEVER. AGAIN. DO NOT DO IT. CONSUMER BEWARE‼ Will overcharge you 3x the price, and ask you to pay upfront. If you walk 2 blocks up on same avenue their is another cleaners, and they are fair & will not overcharge you. DONOT support this business They don't honor their receipt policy. They receipt says store credit, but WILL NOT GIVE IT TO YOU. YES. They will keep your money and tell you to take them to court, and say it with a smile. Their hemming jobs will come undone within 5 mins of wearing item, and YES. They will blame the customer, and say it is your fault, and then tell you to call the manufacturer and complain to them. THEY charged me(( $40 ))for the same job that only cost(( $10)) 2 blocks down from them on same avenue. Their hemming came undone, and now I'm out $40. I honestly feel robbed. Overcharged me to do a bad service, so now I have to pay again next door to have them redo their work. They are over charging the community, and I have lived here all my life. I usually do not write reviews, but I don't want someone else to go through what I went through, which is very unfortunate. Please save yourself the headache, and go elsewhere. read more

Don't waste your time. Over priced by a lot. I went there for a new zipper and specifically turned down a shorter turn around and the cheaper option because I didn't want a plastic or black zipper and those were the only options. I asked them to keep it the same as is (silver and metal). When I picked it up it was plastic and grey. They refused to acknowledge that it was done wrong and offered no apology or alternative. 55 dollars is a lot to pay, but I had no issue if the job was done to my specifications. The lady working here has an award winning smile. I went to this cleaner a handful of times. Second time 2 shirts had the top 3 buttons broken and all collar stays in 8 shirts removed and discarded. With the same big smile they take no responsibility for the buttons or collar stays. I should have known to take out the stays but now I have 8 shirts with curled collars. I took my business elsewhere and the guy just gave me a handful of these collar stays.. Now I walk past the shop and wave, the nice lady is there with a smile and a return wave. read more

Dropped a couple jackets off to have SLITS cut and sewn in to prevent fraying. Picked up jackets with very big, unevenly cut rectangular holes. Attendants tried to offer very poor options to fix, including sewing in a fold into the jacket to minimize the size of the hole. When I asked to speak to management or someone who could do something about this they told me they can't give out their information. Called and left a message after hours, and emailed via the website without any response for weeks. Had to force a charge back through my CC, and took a loss of two brand new jackets due to giant holes in the back. read more

Marie is wonderful! She's the neighborhood shopkeeper who is always there with a smile and a wave as you stroll by. Yes, it's a bit more expensive, but I've never had any of the serious issues that plague most places: broken buttons, burn marks, weird creases, lost items...none of that. I don't understand the negative reviews. I've been using Legacy regularly for years now. Weekly dry cleaning and wash and fold. All that time service has been great, clothes well-treated, and cost feels reasonable. Had one minor misdirect incident in all that time that was handled very professionally. I really endorse them. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place was extremely unprofessional. I wanted to get two expensive articles of clothing altered and the employee in the store was not a seamstress and when asked when the seamstress would be in the shop she told me to get out. The worker was wearing headphones in the entire time and I had to repeat my question 3 times because she couldn't hear me over her music. If the owners read their yelp reviews, I'd seriously reconsider the type of people you employ because you just lost my business and most likely others who read my post. read more

This is my go-to dry cleaners because they don't use perc and so there's no smell (and no cancer). Beyond that they are not really remarkable, although a lot of times Marie (who's always at the front desk) will do a simple repair at no cost, like a button or redoing a dropped hem. I haven't done anything complex here like fancy fabrics or something I'd be extremely worried about them ruining. read more

They SUCK!! Especially the one located in Harlem. Big surprise. They kept my Khaki rain coat for three weeks in order to clean it. They kept telling me that it would be ready next, but when I arrived the next week, it was not ready. Additionally, they charged me $55 to clean a simple rain coat. NEVER AGAIN!! Really disappointed on how poorly you can do such a basic job. Went in to have just one leg of my work pants sewn back in after the seaming came undone. They charged me $8 which I thought was pretty steep but went ahead with it Bc I was desperate to get the pants fixed. Didn't even last one was before their cheap job came undone...what a waste of time and money. Beyond disappointed with the quality of the work. read more

Extremely unhelpful and unprofessional. I showed up at 5:30 on Saturday night and the woman tried to wave me away as she was closing the shop. Their website AND the sign on the door said they closed at 6:00. After reluctantly letting me in, I asked to have my nice wool overcoat cleaned. She noticed a couple small spots on the lapel and asked if they were blood (I had cut myself earlier). When I said yes, she refused to accept the coat. She said they couldn't get out the stains. I said that's ok, I still want it dry cleaned since it had been quite a while and the spots weren't that noticeable anyway. She again refused, saying the blood would get on the other 60 garments that would be in the machine (wait... I thought you just said it wouldn't come out?). I then asked if she had any suggestions and she just shook her head and said "no." Absolutely no help whatsoever. So I went home, used google, and quickly and completely got out the few blood spots with a cold damp cloth. I'll now be taking it and all my other clothes to ANY cleaners but this one. read more
