Leisure Cafe has been the main go to HK-style care around. Some others have come and gone but when that craving for baked spaghetti comes, Leisure Cafe it is. I love the food at Leisure Cafe!!! As far as HK style cafes, I'm not sure there is a better one. To me, Cafe Bakery in SF comes close, but their styles are a bit different. Also, the waitresses are really nice here. They're the same ladies as far back as 2019, when I first started coming here. Steady staff means happy staff so management must be doing something right. ohhh Leisure. How I missed you!!!! There are not a lot of Hong Kong cafe in Vegas, so when I do come back to visit, I know I have to go here at least once! This used to be my go to Hong Kong cafe for a while until I moved. My go to dish is their baked pork chop over rice. I know I have to get that plus other dishes. My friend had Chinese food but never Hong Kong cafe let alone baked pork chop over rice, she loved it and said she would come back just for that. Don't let the overall low rating deter you from trying this restaurant. This restaurant serves Hong Kong style cafe food aka cha chaan teng (茶餐廳) and I'm pretty glad that it's so close to our place. Most of the servers here will greet you in Cantonese upon arrival, but they do speak English as well. The restaurant actually opens pretty late (10pm) as compared to most Asian restaurants in the area. We each ordered our own entrees. I ordered the Portuguese style baked chicken over rice (焗葡國雞飯). The dish actually came to our table quite fast. It was perfectly baked with juicy pieces of chicken, along with chopped onions and bell peppers in a creamy coconut curry sauce over egg fried rice or know in Cantonese as chow dai (炒底). It was really nice to be able to eat this dish as it's a very well known dish in Macau where I originally had this dish. The bf ordered the chicken steak with black pepper sauce (紅酒黑椒雞扒), which came with a huge chicken steak that was surprisingly juicy on the inside and had a nice golden sear on the outside. The red wine black pepper sauce was delicious. It came with rice and a side of veggies. The portions here are pretty big, as both of us only ate half of our meals and we packed the rest of the leftovers. They also have an extensive Chinese dessert menu so be sure to ask for it as it is not found in their QR code menu. We were both quite full but still wanted to try their desserts so we opted to get the durian glutinous dumplings (榴莲糯米糍). These were delicious and had plenty of real durian filling. Overall, I'd highly recommend trying out their food and I would definitely come back again to try the rest of the food and dessert menu. Arrived at about 7 on a Monday night and we were immediately seated. This calamari was the best I have had in a really long time, but I wish it was more spicy. We got a bunch if baked dishes- the pork chop in red sauce, fish in white sauce. Both were really good but I wish the protein was crisper. Overall the cheese and sauce was really good. We ended up ordering chicken wings, baked pork chop over macaroni, and stir fry beef chow fun with egg sauce. Chicken Wings 3/5: pretty standard wings. It used to have a bunch of fried garlic pieces, but there weren't any this time. I was a bit disappointed that there weren't any, but it's still good. Baked pork chop over macaroni 5/5: one of the must haves and one of the best baked pork chop in the Bay Area. They got the sauce on point - the perfect combination of tartness and sweetness. There are 2 pieces of thin pork chop (as they should be), and has flavor on it's own but best when eaten with the sauce. There are lots of macaroni underneath, which makes this a huge portion. I ate half and saved the rest for lunch the next day, Stir fry beef chow fun with egg sauce 4/5: didn't actually order it with the egg sauce, but rather with gravy, but it was still good. The noodles itself, you can taste that it as "wok hay" and not just stir fried. The beef slices were very tender and there's lots of meat too. This was also a very big portion. Prices have definitely gone up, but the food is still good. Next time I'll have to remember to share an entree as it's just too much food! Onto the bads first: I know a lot of restaurants nowadays have online menus but I would expect them to at least have some hardcopies of the menu but they told me they didnt have any. Came here after eating at dynasty pot nearby. One of the few places open late ish (it was 930 pm). Ordered HK milk tea and mango milk custard. HK milk tea was on the sweet side, but it had the right taste. Milk custard could have been firmer (my fave is from UC dessert in Oakland) but they had a good amount of mango on top which I appreciated. Good service but I think they may have overcharged us, since the total came out to around $21 for two hk milk teas and a mango milk custard (which I know was $6.95). However, they had the best French toast, thick and light where you can drizzle with the syrups and melting butters. The puff creamy seafood is good too with scallops, shrimps, and mushroom. Each time we e been back the food has gotten worse. The service is bad as well tyrpically when we go it's busy so we understand the service. The only difference is that we went in later on a Saturday and barely anyone was there. They were quick in taking the orders and the chow fun looked like a kids portion the congee was bland as well as the spare ribs rice. My daughter needed a straw and we told the waitress then she never came back then we waited for another waitress but they were standing around at the counter. Wow!!! Leisure Cafe is one of those close to home spots where my friends and I would go, if we are being lazy and do not want to drive too far. We went there more often before when they were opened late night (like 1/1:30 PM), but now they close around 10 PM. Parking is kind of hit or miss here, it gets busy in this plaza - if you park further away by Safeway or in that general area and walk over, then you usually would not have a problem. I had tried multiple of their noodles, porridges, and rice plate dishes and they were just okay. In my opinion, the only thing really worth it is there Kimchi and Seafood fried rice - it is flavorful and the portion is huge - good for sharing. We came here for just dessert after a big dinner on a Saturday evening. Not busy and we sat down quickly. Lady came to us with menus and tea. We told her we were only here for dessert. When my mom brought home the food I opened it up and saw whole bunch of bell peppers, onions and chicken. In my head, I said to myself, is this what I ordered? At first it didn't look too appealing, but after mixing everything together, it was quite delicious. There was flavor, but it was just a little bland. There was more spaghetti than sauce. Since it was just the 2 of us, we had to eliminate a lot of things we wanted. We ordered: Fried garlic spareribs- DELICIOUS!!! Crispy perfection on the outside and juicy tenderness on the inside. Baked spaghetti meat sauce- It was okay. It was a little thicker than I'm use to. The baked cheese on top was amazing. Beef chow fun- Not bad, but nothing special. A tad bit dry. I would say this restaurant is interesting. The food was generally good although different from the Chinese food that I'm used to. Service was a little slow at first but had improved by the time all the meals were served. The taste was pretty good although I would say it was kind of like Asian fusion since the food was different than the Chinese food I find in Chinatown. Some of the noodle dishes were more like Italian spaghetti. I don't want to give it a final rating but my inclination would be that 3.5 stars would be appropriate.
