I am a Kaiser nurse, y'all recently catered a Thanksgiving/holiday style meal for us, I thought the food was good so I reached out to Lemon Leaf to see if the same could be done for Christmas Eve (it's not a typical menu item to my knowledge), the staff was very courteous, & respond quickly, and agreed to make the meal for my family, it was a very good portion size, and the cook and flavor was out of this world AMAZING, it Far exceeded what we'd expected ( & we are a cooking family), it was all PERFECTLY seasoned/spiced (Turkey, Mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, & green beans), absolutely wonderful, we are very glad we called Lemon Leaf!! Been going to this place since it opened for the pink Campanelli which is very good. Since the beginning had to fight with the waiters to get an extra piece of bread to Dunk-in my pink Campanelli. The service well there is no customer service is zero customer service so we stopped going, we would return about every six months, different kids with the same attitude, very snobby, very rude, NO Customer service. It's been a year since we last tried it, the portion of the pink Campanelli full size order was Literally half-the size it was before. This time didn't even get offered the bread and butter and when asking for some to dunk in the pink Campanelli sauce you would've thought I was from outer space from their rude reactions, no kidding really over reacting like it's a bad SNL skit. TO TOP IT ALL OFF I'm assuming because of the homeless people surrounding the area when requesting to go to the bathroom (it's kept locked) you have to handle this really nasty huge keychain holder thats handed you from the food prepares without any protection of thier hands from handling something everybody uses to go in the restroom. Anything less than five stars is a travesty. I might even upgrade them to six stars. Yelp, can I get another star over here? From the time I walked through the doors of this place I felt this great vibe. Thanks to the reviewers on Yelp and Google, we have a new spot close to home that's not ghetto or fast food. You dont know how horrible it is to have to drive down to Santa Clarita or LA to get good food. Slowly we are adapting to our surroundings, and The Lemon Leaf Cafe made that a whole lot easier. A big thank you to the staff and their attentive and kind spirit. The food was some of the best I have had in a long time. I started with the Insalate Mista, then we had the Fire Roasted Capellini Caprese and the Sacchetti "the Beggar's Purse". All of it was out of this world. We cleaned our plates.... well, I was full, so Miguel cleaned my plate. I really hope they continue with the old town Lancaster beautification project so that more people come out and support the local businesses like The Lemon Leaf Cafe. Led astray by Yelp again. :( We were passing through town on the way back from a lovely trip to Tahoe and looking for a place to eat. This showed up on Yelp so we headed over. It was quite an adventure getting to the cafe as they are doing construction work on Lancaster Blvd off Sierra Highway. We had to take a few of the other streets before finally arriving. Gripes: -- I couldn't access the menu or the cafe's site on my phone so we didn't know that baguettes and wraps were only served until 4 p.m. - we arrived around 4:30 p.m. I had hoped to check out the Greek wrap reviewed by others. Well, couldn't do it. -- Like other reviewers noted, the Portabello mushroom ravioli dish only had 6-7 pieces. Paying $12 for 6 pieces of ravioli is no good. -- Ordered a side salad to accompany my BBQ chicken pizza. I'm sorry, but $5 for a tiny little salad? It didn't quite equate. -- BBQ Chicken Pizza - I've had better elsewhere. Sure, I was starving and I devoured it in a flash, but it wasn't spectacular. Thin slices of chicken splattered here and there on the pizza top along with splats of BBQ sauce. There wasn't that much chicken to boast of either on the pizza. The weird thing was that the round pizza was cut into rectangles. Why not cut it into triangular pieces? This meant that some of the slices on the edges were slivers. Odd, but not a real gripe. -- Service was ok. They didn't check on us or refill our water or anything. But I didn't quite expect it as this is a place where you order your food at the counter and they bring it to you. I doubt I'd come back if I was in the area. EVERY time I visit my in-laws in Lancaster my wife hopes we can eat at the Lemon Leaf. We have only been able to eat here twice, but each time I've had excellently seasoned dishes and have been impressed all around. First of all, WHAT HAPPENED TO DOWNTOWN LANCASTER! It honestly looks like Mickey Mouse came through with a magic wand and cleaned up the whole place. Trees and parking all along the middle of the street. A 10mph zone so everyone cruises by. You can't even tell it's the desert anymore! (at least in April) View: Inside, LL has this modern industrial look - high ceiling, a huge mural of a lemon grove painted across one side and bricks and chalkboards on the other. 3 places to sit - low tables, high tables (our choice both times), and booths along the windows which before would have been boring but now that Mickey came through it looks nice. Top Dog: My wife always orders the portabello filled triangolis with bacon white sauce. HOLD UP! Bacon in a pasta! Not fair to the other pastas! How can they compete with bacon! By default it's the best thing on the menu. Like how it's understood the bride should be the best looking girl at her wedding. If you go, order this and prepare to be amazed. Mickey must have accidentally brushed this dish with his wand as he passed. Mmhmmm! Contender: BBQ Chicken Pizza. Great texture (a little crispy and not soggy at all) and flavor (small chicken strips in BBQ sauce not chunks on top and sauce underneath), and they cut it criss-cross so the pieces look more like flatbread, which I think makes you at least think you are a bit classier than Little Caesers or something. Surprisingly good: The bread. Unique texture - crunchy crust that will crumble when you bite it and a soft, light bread inside. What's the deal with cold butter though? Just keep some butter at room temperature for a bit so we don't have to kill the bread when we're spreading it. Disappointing: The Lemonade - for a place with lemon in it's name, the lemonade was weak. Maybe I expected too much, like when I watched Avatar in 3D and thought "They're just tall 3D Smurfs!" About 4 ladies at my church make better lemonade than LL. Note: They don't have servers. You order up front and they bring you your food. They do check in on you though. And you can draw on the paper table topper with crayons. read more

OMG! So I find myself in the lovely Antelope Valley a couple times a month for work and I've never been able to find a decent restaurant. However, recently, trusty Yelp led me to the Lemon Leaf Cafe. Far from the chain fare that lines the 14 freeway, The Lemon Leaf Cafe can be found in the emerging area known as The BLVD in downtown Lancaster. Everything on the menu is prepared fresh daily using the best ingredients. From the LAMILL coffee to the artisanal pizzas, Lemon Leaf gets it right. The only downside is that things can get pretty crowded for lunch. The atmosphere is cute and quaint and the price is a little high for a place in the Antelope Valley but its worth it if you need that environment on a pensive day. I had really good service, they refilled my drink numerous times without me having to ask and they made sure I was happy without interrupting me reading my book. The pasta was pretty delicious, I had the Pink Campinelle Pasta as recommended by the waiter and I would be willing to try other things there! Numerous people were walking around me with pizzas so they seemed like a hit there! Although, the passion berry tea was not as sweet as I expected! When I first heard that we were going to the Lemon Leaf for dinner, I jokingly said, "Lemons don't grow in the AV due to the frozen winters." My comment was foreshadowing to an evening of confusing wording. At the very beginning of the menu it says "perfect pairing with wine". I searched the menu and found no wine. If I hadn't mentioned this to the rest of the table, I would have guessed they did NOT serve wine. I just happened to have a menu that was missing the wine page. The list was limited, but found a decent sauvignon blanc. I started with the "insalate mista" (their spelling, not mine) that was "tossed in a housemade vinaigrette". If it were truly tossed, the dressing would have been evenly coated. About a third of the salad was plain, undressed lettuce. For my entrée, I had the "shrimp and roasted garlic stuffed ravioli in a Mediterranean tomato pomodoro sauce". A pomodoro is supposed to be light. This is was a heavy red sauce. Not only that, it was spicy like an arrabbiata. There was no suggestion the dish was spicy hot and it made me sweat a little. Furthermore, the overcooked and oversauced ravioli claimed to be a "rosemary egg pasta", but I tasted no rosemary. I tried the dishes of my dining companions. One had the "Campanille pasta with grilled chicken, tri-colored bellpeppers, garlic, and a spicy smoked gouda cheese sauce". "Campanelle" is bell-shaped pasta and "campanile" is a bell tower. I don't know what "campanille" is. To Lemon Leaf, it must mean super spicy bell-shaped pasta because the dish was jalapeno (not jalepeno as Lemon Leaf likes to spell it) to habenero hot. The dish was too hot to comfortably eat for not only me, but everyone else at the table. Another person had the "quatro fromaggio" pizza. I assume they mean four cheese which is "quattro formaggio" in Italian. Maybe I'm just being a jerk and the menu is not written in Italian but some other language. Of the four cheeses (gorgonzola, mozzarella, feta, and parmesan), I could only taste cheap, pre-shredded parmesan. So maybe they intentionally misspelled the dish to avoid a lawsuit because the pizza doesn't have four cheeses. Sort of like how McDonald's uses "shake" instead of "milkshake" because there is no milk. What kills me is that these are easily fixable mistakes and the dish concepts are good. It's like they need a reality show kitchen makeover to correct these simple errors. A tip to meat eaters. Go elsewhere. Even the salads, pizzas, and pastas that have meat still don't have much meat. It's great for vegetarians, but restrictive for everyone else. Furthermore, the meatier-sounding paninis and wraps are not served at dinner. read more

So, I was going to message the business owner directly but evidently she either doesn't know what yelp is or use or else she simply doesn't want to mess with people messaging here. I hate to give a poor review without messaging the business first, but in this case it wasn't possible. I've been coming here for years and love it. The food is good, it's always clean, and it's relatively fast. However, after dozens of visits and 100s of dollars spent I take my family for dinner and order the bbq chicken pizza add jalapeños and pineapple (which is $1.50 to add) but I ask for it only on half and state that I will gladly pay the whole price. I've not had it on there before and wanted to try it but didn't want to commit to the whole pizza in case I don't like it. I'm told no. Flat out no we can't do that. Can't split. I say I don't want to split. I just want it on half. Nope. Can't do it. Owner's rule. I then decide I want to message the owner. So this is really kind of a message to the owner. I want to see how she responds before deciding whether or not I am worthy to be served by them again in the future. Maybe I'm not. read more

The owner Maria Elena is awesome and her staff is super friendly. If it's your first time here I would definitely recommend ordering the BBQ Chicken pizza. It's big enough to feed two people or you can just take the rest home. If you're looking for something a bit lighter the Turkey Cranberry Cobb salad is phenominal. If you have room for dessert try the brownie with nuts ala mode. Hands down the Best Brownie in the entire Antelope Valley! Overall it's a trendy place with great food and good people. It's located in the heart of Downtown Lancaster which recently went through a metamorphisis and is ten times better than before. I will usually start here for dinner then walk over to BeX or the Underground Bowl for a couple of drinks. read more

It's not often that I find myself in search of food in Lancaster. In fact, I've never found myself in search of food in Lancaster. But this past weekend, after spending a few hours at the Poppy Reserve, I was starving and in need of food, stat. I overheard someone at the Reserve's gift shop mention this place and I was sold. Send me anywhere that's not a chain, please. This place was easy to find, and the food was really good! The space seemed a little big for a counter-order type place, and it made it seem overwhelming and empty. But looks aside, the food was delicious! We split a pizza (fabulous), and a baguette sandwich (just ok). I was getting full, but the desserts up front looked so good I couldn't say no. We had the lemon tart (a house speciality) and a pizette custard thingy that was amazing! Don't know if I'll find myself in Lancaster again, but if I do I'm definitely going here! read more

I'd give it a 4.5, but since I can't (and since we're in Lancaster) I'll round up and give it the 5. This place is always really good, and now that they cleaned up downtown Lancaster it's actually nice going here. Just wish they were open Sunday... The pizza is great- BBQ chicken, or the Berserko with sausage, onion and bellpepper. Sandwiches and wraps are all very good (the ones I've had anyway) and the pasta is great. I want to try their desserts, but I'm always too full. Price is a bit high ($13 for an individual pizza) but the servings are generous and I never leave hungry. I cannot believe a restaurant of this caliber exists in this area. After suffering through a third business trip to Palmdale -- on the 2nd trip, I gave up entirely and just ate frozen dinners from target -- my friend found this restaurant on a website and sent it to me. The weather that night was horrendous, but I toughed it out and drove over just to see if the reviews could possibly be accurate. After being horrendously misled about a local sushi joint on my first trip, I was nervous. I love it. The space is open, airy, and the kind of place you're ready to chill out and enjoy for a while. The staff is really pleasant and friendly. You do order at the bakery before going to grab a seat, which I'm glad I read on a review or I would've been really confused. The food was awesome. The choices aren't exotic, but they're done really well. I had minestrone soup and a cheese pizza, and bought a berry cobbler and a cheese/strawberry pastry to go. Everything was fantastic. If I end up in Palmdale again, I will probably eat at this place every night. Love it. read more

On our drive from Death Valley to LA, i yelped as we got closer to LA. Lancaster seemed like the biggest city on the way and I found this place. Seemed a little pretentious as we walked in, especially because I was a tad self conscious because i was dirty, sweaty, and in hiking clothes from walking and hiking around the desert earlier in the day. After I walked in for a few minutes I actually realized, "Helllo, I'm from NYC, this is no big deal", and it was actually a very approachable atmosphere, and the workers were actually very nice. It was strange how you pay first and then sit, but hey it worked just fine. I liked the decaf tea and my pasta was good. My partner was very much undeserved since his ravioli plate came with about 7 small ravioli. I felt bad for him since my portion was much larger and flavorful. I liked the painted walls, it really brightened up the restaurant and went very well with the upbeat vibe. Chocolate cake wasn't amazing. I Came here with my mom and 11 year old son. It's a great place to eat, today for first out of 4 times there was 2 tiny errors with our order by no means was it a big deal. Food was still delicious and lovely, But still the owner not only replaced the items she refunded our money. Too kind! Thank you lemon leaf YOU ROCK!!! 4 star rating for a 3 star place. This is one of the few original restaurants in Lancaster and one of very few trying to hold together the "Downtown Lancaster" area. The food is tasty, fun and different. Sauces are a bit heavy as others have said, but I actually like it that way because they are delicious. Just use more bread to sop it up. The downside is I find it overpriced for what is served and for the area. Knock a few bucks off the menu and this could be a favorite. In L.A., I would rate this 3 stars. Based on the reviews on Yelp, on my last visit to Lancaster, I knew I was going to have to try the Lemon Leaf Café. It sounded too good to be true in the vast sea of concept restaurants that is the Antelope Valley. We were a bit confused when we first entered the restaurant - we weren't sure if we should just take a table or go up to the counter. Fortunately, we went to counter where the staff was helpful and friendly and advised us that we ordered at the counter and they would bring the food to us. We decided on a Mediterranean platter to share, two Greek salads and chicken kabobs. Everything we sampled on the Mediterranean platter was excellent, though they could have been a bit more generous with the bread as we quickly ran out. The portions of everything else on the platter were more than generous. The Greek salads were fine. The chicken kabobs were amazing. The chicken had been marinated in lemon, garlic and olive oil and was grilled to perfection - it was juicy and tender - served with mashed potatoes and a small salad. The desserts in the case looked excellent; however, we were too full from dinner to want to try any. The Lemon Leaf Café does not seem to do much of a dinner business as we pretty much had our run of the large industrial space. According to the staff, they do a much larger business at lunch. This is my type of place... a casual yet somewhat-upscale cafe where I can enjoy a light lunch and a glass of wine. This is probably my favorite place on Lancaster's "BLVD." I like the white table cloth atmosphere for lunch, while keeping things easy-going. The food is above average and the bakery has not disappointed me yet. But, again, my main draw is the ambience. I can have a rare roast beef panini, a glass of wine, in a mature setting... all while people watching from the large windows in front of the restaurant that overlook the BLVD. They even have bar seating right in front of the windows (my favorite place to sit). The ONLY thing about this place I do not like is the ordering. It's diner-style, with you ordering from a cashier and then finding your own seat. I prefer full waiter service. read more

So this review is more about their practices than the actual food. I really enjoy their wraps. But their policy is: "we don't serve any of our wraps after 4 PM". Who made that rule up? do the nighttime cooks not know how to make a wrap? Or do they just want to sell you a more expensive meal? So I left and they didn't get any of my money this evening. I can understand a restaurant not serving breakfast after a certain time because of the preparation needed for breakfast food. But a wrap? It's veggies, meats, and cheese in a flatbread. Bottom line: ok food, but way overpriced. We went for dinner just now, and our first thought was that they need someone to tell you what to do. I'll tell you so you don't have to guess: order at the counter in the back on the far right side, then find a table. Right in the middle of the menu are the sandwiches and wraps. They don't serve sandwiches or wraps after 4, so we were SOL. I got the salmon, my wife got a pizza and antepasta, $45. The portions were just right, but I would have expected more for the money. Lunch stop. We had the Lemon Caprese and Turkey B.A.T baguette paninis. The baguette bread they use is tasteless and didn't seem very fresh. Lemon Caprese - over-powering lemon oil and balsamic vinegar. Both pieces of bread were soaked with the vinegar. I are the first half of the sandwich because I was hungry, not because I enjoyed it. I couldn't stomach the second half. I traded the second half for my wife's turkey BAT (bacon, avocado, tomato). She had two bites and ended up taking the mozzarella and tomato out of the Caprese sandwich and just eating that. Turkey BAT - generic, bland turkey, and a mustard/mayo dressing. It was no better than a ready-made sandwich from the supermarket. Strawberry shake - Not bad. They use fresh strawberries, which is nice. I wouldn't have minded if they used a few more to give it more strawberry taste. Either way, it was the best thing on the table. $30 for those three items and a coke. Overpriced and disappointing, but its the AV. No service, they bring out your meals and drinks and don't bother coming back to the table to refill drinks and check on your food. I won't even give it a three stars and call it "decent for the AV." I've been here before and have yet to be impressed, although previous food has been a little better. read more

My last experience at the lemon leaf was about a year ago...my company had its annual christmas party at lemon leaf. From day one when I contacted the owner and began to set a date and menu for the christmas party, I was treated BEYOND well and my every request was accomodated. On the day of the party, all 30 of us showed up at lemon leaf with gifts and everything...the table was ready for us and a bench for our gifts was placed next to our table. Food: Eveyone at the table was extrmely satisfied and I didn't hear anything that even resembled a complaint about the food. My personal experience that day was great...I ordered a pizza. First, it was much bigger than I expected for a personal size pizza and was to die for...if my memory serves me, I had the Margherita Pizza. Atmosphere: Very relaxing with an ordinary yet elegant feel to it. Service: Absolutely amazing, the servers were very attentive to the 30 of us and had drink refills there very quickly. Overall, my experiences here have been beyond good. I would recommend this place for alomst any occasion!...but you can never go wrong with lemon leaf for any business meeting or lunch. read more

It's been a while since I've been to the Lemon Leaf, but my memories of it are quite nice. I always ordered the saccheti "beggar's purse" pasta which is served up in a delicious pesto sauce and is very cheesy. I recall one instance when I came here and it was no longer listed on the menu, so I do hope it has returned. That pasta was the reason I ate there. My parents often got pizza with a cute little salad on top. I had a few bites and thought it was very good. I would love to go back and see how things have changed. Hopefully it is still as good as the Lemon Leaf I remember. read more
