Is The Lemon Leaf Cafe really as great as it seems, or does it just stand out as one of the only good restaurants in the culinary wasteland that is Lancaster? I'm not sure, but I eat here every couple of weeks and I thoroughly enjoy it every time. I wanted to give this 4.5 stars, and I didn't give it 5, because I am not a fan of standing at a counter and ordering a meal, especially when you don't know the menu, etc. But I have eaten here many times. I have tried the wraps, salads and pasta dishes. Everything that I have I loved and can't wait to go back and try news things, The rare roast beef sandwich is really good. The spicy pasta is good and I loved a salad that I believe was a Southwest salad. The place is clean and the waiters are very friendly. The prices are okay for what you get. So maybe I need to go more than once...... But we had a less than satisfactory experience. First it seems ridiculous to order your own food and then still be served and then have to keep ordering drinks. We had kids who's food took well over an hr ( pizza by the way) which is beyond belief. So I made a complaint. They then comped us and proceeded to make the rest of the food which still took 45 more mins. The food was average and service was despicable. The only reason I m not suggesting they should close doors is they did comp the full meal. So that shows integrity. I love this place! We had our not-mother's-day Mother's Day dinner here. There were 5 of us. We had hors d'oeuvres. They were great! We ordered individual entrees. They were amazing! Everything was well done and nothing was overdone. Not a lot of filler ingredients. Just plain old delicious! And, though we were full (portions are perfect), we just had to try the desserts. We ordered 4 desserts and ALL were DELICIOUS! But the mixed berry cobbler was extraordinary! Do yourself a favor and order that. We actually combined the cobbler with bites of the other desserts and it was heavenly! You can tell that everything about the menu and restaurant was created with love and care. We already felt this way, but our thoughts were confirmed when we met the owner/chef. She is simply an awesome individual. And so is her handpicked staff. Well done! I, along with my family and friends, have been frequenting The Lemon Leaf since it opened in Lancaster two years ago. It is, bar none, the best restaurant in the Antelope Valley. The freshness, attention to detail, and the refreshing atmosphere are things you would never find in one of our local chain restaurants. The Lemon Leaf is truly a gift to the Antelope Valley. As for service, we've always found it to be exceptional. Our family is always greeted warmly, served promptly, and treated wonderfully by the waitstaff--often with hugs! The owner makes frequent checks on both the dining room and kitchen, ensuring that customers are happy and well-served. We eat at The Lemon Leaf several times a month and see her every time we visit. I was very disappointed...the price was very high for the poor quality of the food. The chicken Caesar wrap that I ordered looked large but it was completely filled with just lettuce and only a few scattered pieces of chicken. I felt like I was eating a salad wrapped in a crunchy tortilla. It is confusing when you go in, didn't know if I was supposed to just sit myself down, and so I had to ask. It turns out you have to order at the counter first which I did not like. Overall, too showy and not the best food. read more

First off I want to say, the drinks are great top notch, the ambiance and environment was very classy, service was great, and the food was also good i ordered the Linguine with the sausage (can't remember the name) but the serving was more than enough, the only cons of the place is, its a little pricey but its a local business so hey, but really its the parking thats a headache even in the afternoon to the evening, it'll be difficult to find a convenient spot so make sure to get there during off hours or so to get some good parking. The proprietors really care about what they are doing. We spoke with the woman in charge on the day we were there and she was warm, welcoming and friendly. She explained that her family is both Greek and Italian and many of the recipes they use in the restaurant are from her family. We were impressed with the great pizzas and salads. We were even more impressed with the deserts which were creative and expertly executed. The coffee was spectacular. I can safely say I've had coffee that good and strong (not dark and bitter, but strong) only a few other times, and both in much more expensive restaurants. I can only assume that differences in taste explain some of the negative reviews. Do yourself a favor and try this place for yourself. read more

My friend brings home food from here all the time and it is always outrageously good! I've only been inside for coffee, twice, but I can tell the staff works as hard as possible to make sure each and every one of their guests is as comfy as possible while dining! This was a very disappointing visit for our group of 7 tonight. First off, the service is lacking in that neither girl said, "hello" or any type of greeting and were almost aloof. We placed our order and about 15 minutes later she came over and said they were out of salmon (2 of our orders). No apology, no, "What can we do?" Just that they had a big to go order that used all of what they had. The cook never conveyed that information to the girl's out front and therefore it disappoints customers. Honestly, we only went here for the salmon. She tried to get us to order enough other food to cover the amount instead of refunding the balance. She said we could always order a dessert because the salmon is more than anything else on their menu. I finally just said, "We'd like the balance refunded." From that point on we had to actually get up and ask for more iced tea, water and to go boxes. Forget, they would ask if we wanted anymore beer or wine. Everything we ordered was just okay. Nothing wowed me tonight. The Visco pizza was cooked waaaaay too much and the Antipasto Salad was just okay. I think it put a bad taste in my mouth from the beginning when kids running a business don't care. You can always tell when owners are not on the premises. My fiance and I LOVE the LLC! Every individual I have introduced to the place falls in love and claims it as their own. The food is phenomenal and the atmosphere is fresh and clean while still inviting. We are even having the Lemon Leaf cater our wedding, our guests will be the envy of Lancaster! As I sat with the owner to discuss our reception plans, she got almost as excited as we were.
