Gave Lena's another try and glad I did. Delivery was perfect, packaging and delivery was right on point. We ordered 2 of the happy hour apps, which I thought was a great deal! The meatballs (had 5 pieces, which my baby has 1 entire meatball!), fried calamari. And for mains we got eggplant parm, chicken parm and a side of broccoli rabe (which was not great, it looked very pale green and not fresh. However the eggplant is really spot on! I love the eggplant parm here. Will not order the broccoli rabe. But everything else will def order again! And from happy hour menu is the best for apps !! read more

I can't say it was the best chicken parm I've ever had but I can say the food was exactly what I was looking for on a cold night. It was delivered in 20 minutes from the time of ordering and the flavors were what I'd expect from a remarkably reasonably priced italian hang in midtown. The pasta was filled with slices of garlic. Could it have been a little more pungent, sure, but it was loaded with flavor. The chicken was massive and filled with depth. The breading was a little standard but I was happy. The pecan salad was amazing. Can't encourage anyone more to order it. The fresh candied pecans on top of what seems like a full bag of fresh mixed greens and high quality Gorgonzola was fantastic! For $50 there was a legitimate three meals - maybe four. Everything came perfectly wrapped and ready to eat with all requests filled perfectly. Lovely and satisfying! read more

I pass by this place walking home from work and stop by whenever I don't feel like cooking. It's a takeout only place with no seating, and the staff are always friendly. On weekdays they have a happy hour with some half price appetizers. I've tried the meatballs and fried calamari and both were great. Calamari does get a little soggy after I bring it home, but that's not the restaurants problem. I pop it in the air fryer and it gets nice and crispy again. I was in one of those "I don't know what I want for dinner" moods, when Lena's UES location came across my Uber Eats app. Prices were not bad at all, and Yelp reviews looked good, so I gave it a shot! I ordered the grilled salmon (asked for less oil and garlic on the broccolini) and got a side of Alfredo with gluten free pasta. Also got some tiramisu for later. The order came quickly, was hot and well packed, which is great considering I am a solid 3.3 miles up the grid in Manhattan. Off the top, the serving sizes were ample. The food was perfectly cooked, even the texture of the gluten free penne was perfect. And the best part is the food was seasoned! Not too salty, just right, and very flavorful. I did add some black pepper to my plate, which only enhanced what this food was already giving. Definitely adding Lena's to my favorites for the future! read more

We've never visited, just had takeout - so your visit to Lena's may give you a comfortable ambience. Both times the food arrived in a sturdy large plastic bag, well packed and promptly delivered. The meatballs are dense but good quality, "meatball parm" is actually meatballs thickly covered with mozzarella (no parmigiana in sight) in a thin tomato sauce. At $17.50 it's a generous main course. Meatballs also are available as appetizer. Chicken Francese at same price is two thin cutlets in an egg coating with a bland yellow sauce. Meant as a main dish, it's not a lot of food and while ok it's not something I'd want to order again. Broccolini with garlic was a surprisingly small amount, which is too bad since it is delicious and the tastiest item in last night's order. Rolls come with the order, the kindest thing I can say is the crust is tasty and the inside is useful to sop up juices. A side of pasta bolognese was a happy surprise - the pasta had bite and the sauce was tasty. There's only one dessert, tiramisu, which we haven't yet had. All the ingredients are good. Just bit of effort, and seasoning, could elevate these items to excellent. But if you don't feel like cooking, Lena's is a decent option. read more

I had been wanting to order from here before but today was the first time. I have been to Gino's, their sister restaurant in Long Beach a bunch of times. I was in the mood for a Caesar salad and I got it with Chicken Cutlet. The portions are generous, I ordered a small and it was full of romaine, shaved parmigiano, and I got extra cheese and croutons. The cutlets were perfect, and even still a little warm when they arrived. The croutons are sooo good, nicely seasoned and crunchy. I may try ordering directly through them next time, to see if it's a little more reasonable than Door Dash. They have a great lunch special also on the menu with two choices of soup, salad, and half a hero. The salad was delicious and definitely will order from them again. read more

I'll keep this review as under seasoned as the food. Sure, this food is fine. Just... fine. Dull, even. The caesar salad is passable, the calamari is light, but the meatballs are mealy and have the texture of overworked pate, not how they should be. The fra diavlo sauce was hot hot hot, but good. Marinara, needs salt, and a bit too sweet. And the bread. My god. Never have I asked for 8 tasteless hockey pucks, but that's what I got. Fried mozzarella is fine, nothing to write home about, much like everything else. The only satisfying part was dessert, tiramisu. But the other bits? Not worth the calories. read more

Holy Cow, this place is crazy good!! The hubby wasn't feeling well and was craving an eggplant parmesan hero. Finding a decent hero on the UES is not easy. Our local pizzerias either serve only pizza or have mediocre food, so I decided to do a quick Yelp search and up came Lena's. Instead of ordering through Yelp (sorry Yelp), I went to their website and ordered there. I was amazed with all the options they offered, right down to scooped out, toasted Italian bread for your hero! Unheard of! We had: - Eggplant Parmesan Hero - delicious - Chicken Parmesan Hero - excellent - Baked Ziti (they call it something else) - very good - Broccoli with Garlic & Oil - very good! My go too for pasta when I'm in the area. One portion is big enough to feed two people. I've ordered both pickup and delivery, both times, the food is ready quickly and always still hot. Placed an order through Yelp on a Friday afternoon to try something more hefty for lunch. About a 30 minute pickup time for the meal, though it was ready several minutes before that, Lots of classic options to choose from here - eggplant, meatball, and chicken options being the most enticing of the bunch. Settled on the Meatball Parm Hero ($11.50), without adding anything else as I could have easily gone overboard. No issues with the pickup, as the sandwich is placed neatly in a "to-go" container, still piping hot. The hero is stuffed with 5 large meatballs, marinara sauce, and a gentle helping of melted mozzarella cheese. Love the meatballs, juicy inside and seasoned well. Marinara sauce is on the sweeter side, would have hoped for more of a spicy kick. Bread overall couldn't stand under the pressure of the sauce, so better to get this toasted or eat as soon as possible. Lady behind the counter was nice and got my food out immediately. Sweet little place the neighborhood desperately needed. They are really nice and food is ready in 10 minutes plus it's pretty darn good. Comfort food at its finest. The place is in a perfect location plus clean and I was the only person there. I had the fried mozzarella happy hour special $5.50 and it's very rich and filling and comes with a huge container of tomato sauce. I also tried the penne pasta pomodoro side and it was a very generous portion and comes with bread and Parmesan cheese on the side. Great prices plus they are very clean and practice sanitization.
