The service was fantastic here. The portions are HUGE- we got the half sizes and couldn't finish. The desserts are also very large. So come hungry or prepare to share dishes.

Stopped by for lunch. Place was quite empty when I arrived at 12. I got the chopped antipasto and the bolognese rigatoni. Both were fantastic. I got the half sizes and even then I could have shared with 1-2 people. The staff was really friendly, very personable and made me feel like a local to the restaurant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The space is also quite big for NYC, a good place to host large parties.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place was fantastic with truly amazing service. I made a reservation and were seated quickly, which was a great start. The bread and oil were delicious--simple but tasty. I loved my drinks too! Perfect balance of ice and flavor! cheers to that and the bartender [[HIGHLIGHT]]The family-style dining concept is such a great idea, especially for sharing with 2-3 people.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered two different pastas along with plates of meat, and everything was absolutely worth the wait--so flavorful and delicious. Our waitress was adorable, super sweet, and incredibly kind. She checked on us often and really made my dad's birthday unforgettable. Thank you, Tony's! We'll definitely be back.

We came to the restaurant for the first time for our pre'opera dinner! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great space, make a reservation just in case.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our server was the wonderful Anthony. The dishes are family style in size! Bring your appetite!!! We had calamari appetizer and THAT was huge! Delicious all around! For dinner we had egg plant parmigiana, and seafood pasta. LISTEN TO YOUR SERVER! They will tell you all you need to know about eating there. For example the eggplant parmigiana is just that. There are no sides. Bread and butter are complimentary. We had bottled water, and a glass of wine. Great service!

Came here with a group of five and we all enjoyed it. We made a reservation and would recommend doing so as the place was packed on a Thursday night. The food was served family style, which worked well with our group. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a loud, fun, New York spot that we would all recommend![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered: - appetizers: 1/2 order mussels, 1/2 order eggplant rollitini, and full order of salad - mains: 1/2 shrimp scampi, full chicken parmigiana, 1/2 spaghetti and meatball, and full rigatoni allá vodka - dessert: strawberry shortcake (which was MASSIVE) and more than enough for all of us

I was in the mood for Italian food after spending the evening at The Met, so my husband started searching for nearby restaurants that serve my favorite dish, Eggplant Parmigiana, and found Tony's Di Napoli. Although it was a Saturday night, we were able to easily get a table without a reservation. What a relief! Especially since I was super hungry. Their menu is designed for "communal dining", which is perfect for us as we prefer to dine this way anyways. For those not familiar with communal dining, think "order a few dishes for the entire table to share". We ordered the half size of both the Eggplant Parmigiana and the Fettuccine Alfredo. For reference, the Half Size is meant to be shared between 1-2 people and the Full Size is meant for 3-4. The Eggplant Parmigiana was as delicious as I had hoped it would be! Thinly sliced, crispy and piled on with marinara sauce and cheese. As for the Fettuccine Alfredo, it was one of the best ones we've ever had! The Alfredo sauce was so rich and fresh, it reminded me of the delicious pasta I've enjoyed in Italy. Also, I'd like to note that our meals were brought out to us very quickly after ordering, which we appreciated as we were very hungry. Highly recommend you check out this restaurant, especially if you're looking for authentic tasting Italian cuisine!

Massive portions: half order of chicken parm and a small Caesar salad
    J P.

Having escaped NY Florida, I miss old school Italian-American food. So while visiting NYC I was keen to enjoy a good chicken parm. I heard that Tony's Di Napoli is solid so I decided to give it a shot for lunch. The dining room is big and generic, and very quiet, which is not surprising for Tuesday lunch time. Service was friendly but completely distracted, despite the waiter only having two tables to deal with. I went with the half order, which was more than enough...I was hungry but still couldn't finish it. I also got a small Caesar salad, which was also quite generous. The parm was good: a massive cutlet well breaded and covered evenly with a nice blanket of perfectly melted and golden mozz & parm. It was tasty though the sauce could have been brighter IMHO. The salad was also well executed despite too many shatteringly crisp croutons. The dressing was bright and lemony. Service, however, was distracted and inattentive. Despite only having two tables, I had to get the manager's attention to get mt water refilled as well as for the check.

I went here for dinner with my friend on Saturday. We had the Rigatoni Bolognese, and the Chicken Parm. I had the Strawberry Tonic as a drink. The service was amazing! And [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambiance was really classy/classic Italian.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'll definitely be going back again

A restaurant in the same vein as Maggiano's, Tony's might as well fold up its raincoat and stay inside for another day, dealing the same hands as all these prewar family Italian restaurants give out, without having a true ace of spades to trump it. Am I suggesting the food is bad? Hardly. I am suggesting that the novelty of eating at a restaurant themed at the 1930's with eats that represent old school Italian-American vibes, without those old school prices. This restaurant plays it safe, all the way. The crooning voices of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Michael Bublé after awhile had me wanting to eat my meal and run. At least the food I that ordered came out quickly enough to allow me to do that. Their parmigiana dishes are a home run. Excellent sauce, good flavor, and a generous portion. I got the Eggplant Parmigiana and it was a treat. To supplement it, I got the Rigatoni a la Vodka (it comes with mushrooms) and it worked out well as a nice lunch. In a way, I am happy I did not get a meat entree as it likely would have ruined everything. The vegetarian options work well. Next time I will have to go full carnivore to compare. Most of their entrees are red sauce based. I feel I should tell you that in case you have an issue with that. Since I had heard their tiramisu is so popular, I capped my meal with that. Six hours later, I am still feeling its strong effects of liqueur. They say you cannot get drunk off of this, but I swear they are lying. After eating this, I wobbled to the subway, looking like I had not slept in three days, upon returning home, passed out for two hours, and woke up feeling like I had a massive hangover. Maybe I should reevaluate my life goals. Or maybe, as Sinatra eloquently told me as I was eating here, "That's life."

Ive been here several times and the food and service is always great. The calamari is delicious and I love the zucchini chips. They also make a delicious chicken Alfredo thats not on the menu. Dont skip on the dessert especially the strawberry shortcake which is huge and delicious.

The quality of food provided was outstanding. We were able to bring home leftovers. I enjoy flavored food so this was a plus. I was happy my husband enjoyed it. The quality of service we received was impressive, for the server to continuously check on us was amazing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The esthetic was wonderful, looking at the vintage pictures hung around was a bonus. It added charm to the decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We came here for a big family dinner and this family style place delivered all you could ask for in a meal of this size. Was the food the most gourmet? No. But the portion sizes were huge, the service was spot on and the dishes were delicious. I enjoyed the calamari, veal parm, spaghetti and meatballs and more. We sat in the basement which didn't actually feel claustrophobic. Overall a fun place for a night out with good friends and family. Classics like this have a good place in the city.

    Yes

How is the party size portions? Can it feed up to 20 people?

Yes they have a huge dining area plus private seating just rsvp!

This means those dishes aren't truly gluten free for people with celiac disease or anyone who has to avoid gluten. When I pointed that out to my server, he just gave me a blank stare. I tried to explain why labeling those items as gluten free is misleading, but he seemed completely disinterested, even annoyed, dismissed what I was saying, and simply responded that the pasta is gluten free. I acknowledged that the server doesn't write the menu, but absolutely zero customer service skills. The service overall was lacking. Aside from taking our order, no one checked on us or came back to see if we needed anything. Our server was just hanging out chatting up the hostess. We had to request the bill from the manager & paid at the hostess stand. Before paying, I spoke with the manager and explained what had occured. He was more professional than the server, but he was still dismissive of my concerns and of the service we received. Management seemed happy enough to promote the "option". The food was okay, definitely not enough to make up for the poor service and handling of a serious dietary issue. Needless to say I will not be returning.
