The Leroy Fox location on Sharon Amity has been a favorite for an after-church brunch for the last two years. The menu, food, and bar were always good and dependable. We went there this past Sunday, Easter Sunday, hoping we would get there before there were no seats available in the restaurant or on the patio. Arriving at 11:00 AM, we found the parking lot half full, the patio empty, and only three tables with customers inside. We were surprised to say the least. Nonetheless, we sat at the bar and ordered drinks. I had a glass of wine and my wife had a Mimosa. The chapagne in the Mimosa was flat. We asked for a new drink. The second Mimosa was flat, too. We asked for a new bottle of champagne and a fresh Mimosa. The third time was a good drink. We were both surprised to see the brunch menu had been greatly reduced...down to one page instead of both sides of the menu. And the new brunch menu is heavy on omelet choices with far fewer special options. I had an omelet and it was good but my wife had the Chicken Benny (chicken benedict). She did not finish her meal and did not want to take the rest home for later. I would not recommend Leroy Fox for brunch at this time. read more

I was meeting a friend here for lunch and was a bit early so I decided to go in and get a drink while I waited for her. The restaurant was pretty slow with only a few groups of tables and a couple other people at the bar. I sat down and texted my friend telling her I would be waiting at the bar and she said she would be about 20 minutes. It took about 5 minutes to get a menu and then another 10 for the bartender to take my order. I did not get my drink until my friend arrived. She ordered a drink and at least it came a bit faster and both were good. I ordered the fried chicken and found it to be average. That with the crazy slow service makes it so that I would not come back here. Maybe I will give the other location a try. read more

I recently moved to charlotte and decided to stop by for brunch this morning at Leroy Fox. I wanted to sit in the patio which looked very inviting but the weather wasn't the best. They have a variety of food options but it can get a bit pricey. Our server Brandon was amazing and provided great customer service. Yelp Elite badges announced today, so only fitting I do my first review of the year today. ...First timer to Leroy Fox. I know that probably doesn't sound that impressing...but Charlotte Agenda just realized TODAY the top 22 best Mac & Cheese in Charlotte and guess what, ya boy Leroy Fox was on there! So what it do? Well you go check out the menu online and try a new place out. So I can only speak purely on carry out and the food I ordered. Which was simple enough to order, it gave me a time when the order was ready, when I arrived I clicked the link and said I was there, and boom someone brought my food right out. Hot & Ready! It's like magic. What did we order? LOVE ME TENDERS. They have family meal deals, so we bought the 12 piece chicken tender with two family sized sides. You can get tossed sauce chicken but I ordered plain "naked" tenders. For me that's how you know if chicken tenders are really good or not. If they are good without sauce! And they were pretty good. I bet they would be even better when you order in person at the restaurant so they are fresher. We chose mac and cheese and sweet potato tots for sides. And they both were good! The SP tots were like dessert, they even looked like lil donut holes. Also important to note that their ranch is good, and I'm not even a huge ranch person even tho I'm from the south. I think they make their sauces in house but I'm not positive about that but that would def make me like them more if they did, they seem like a place that would. So all and all we were happy with trying out a new place and supporting local during this time of course. Ordering was easy! The lovely gent who brought my food out wore a mask, so it felt super safe. I'll def be back and hopefully next time try them out in person, their spot looked cool! If I could give this location 0 stars I would. I ordered the chicken stew over biscuits (a to go order). What I got was chicken soup and a hard biscuit on the side. There is a difference between stew and soup. if I wanted soup, I would have went to Chick-fil-A. The entree was cold and tasted like bland soup. I was not happy for the price that was paid ($16.55). I called to complain and the guy that answered the phone was rude to me. I will not be going back to Leroy Fox again because of his attitude. It took our waiter 3 trips and 15 minutes to get us a cup of coffee. He brought the coffee, but no cream, sugar or spoon. Then he brought the spoon...but no cream...no sugar. It was a foreshadowing of the rest of our experience. This was especially frustrating because it was Game Day...Panthers hosting the Buccaneers. Entertaining friends from out of town. No lie, it took us 45 minutes to get our food for a party of 4. We were there at 11am and it wasn't even that crowded. By the time we left, we missed the kick off and the first TD. Good pub food, nice variety-and served hot and tasty. Had the wings with buffalo sauce -these were actually cooked perfectly, and served hot and crispy and cooked all the way through -served with generous portion of fresh carrot and celery sticks and ranch. DELICIOUS. Many places don't always get them right. Also had a shared batch of fried zucchini app -that was the best ever -crispy but thick fresh slices of zucchini-seemed hand breaded and fried. Others stated the meatloaf sandwich was very good served on ciabatta roll and one had the salmon and salad -and looked very fresh with a generous portion of salmon my friend claimed was cooked just right. The bar area seemed great and lots of tables to accommodate even large crowd. Best of all-very clean, no smells and u didnt come out smelling like a fryer or bar! I had a weird combination-- grits and the black bean wrap, both of which were kinda basic, but edible! I love the atmosphere most in here, we were seated immediately, came for brunch around 12:30pm on a Sunday. They have mimosa specials YUM, and WORTH IT. My homegirl was disappointed in the Mac and cheese, I tried some, and it wasn't very flavorful, it tasted like noodles and cheese together, no seasonings or anything. I'd say from first experience, I'd return to day drink in a chill, nice location, but was not impressed at all with the taste of the food unfortunately. When I asked my server why the long wait and why she hadn'tn t told me the fried chicken takes longer to prepare (30 minutes?) she said "you already ordered it" which made no sense. Thankfully, my friend made a reservation for eleven people. The staff was both accommodating and patient with us. First order of business, Mimosas! Which are four bucks on Sunday's. Winning!!! I choose the Chicken & Waffles. This was served with a peach compote, over-easy egg, and a Belgian waffle. The chicken was fried to perfection and seasoned perfectly!! The Peach compote was soggy and unnecessary, and the egg.....was not over easy. Of course, I ate the chicken and the waffle, duh! I left the peach compote and egg on the dish. I selected the Mac & Cheese as my side item. The breadcrumbs were a perfect addition! So will I come here again? Yes. I'm interested in trying the crab cake benedict and french toast with cannoli cream. FYI, I would highly advise arriving early or make a reservation for a good seat. read more

Don't order anything on the rocks to drink. They stiff you with a $3 upcharge (separate and not mentioned by the wait staff) for vodka on the rocks. Allegedly this is for a 2 oz rocks pour rather than the normal 1.5 oz mixed pour, but it was a weak 2 oz. Stick with beer. At least then you know what you are getting for your money. My friend works here so we come for food and the staff here is amazing. Someone's kid spilled a drink and 3 wait staffs were on it so that the family can resume enjoying their feasting. Such Team work!The Fox Den wings are delicious and have a kick to them. I honestly can eat a dozen more of them! My fried chicken ( dark meat, hot style )was amazing and everyone at the party that had it whether it be dark meat or white meat enjoyed it. Also the zucchini fries as appetizers was awesome and definitely would get that combination again. It has been a while since I have eaten at Leroy Fox. So thus past Saturday I was in the neighborhood and decided to stop in for lunch. We started out with cocktails, and they do have a nice selection. I got a blueberry smash which was yummy & refreshing without being overly sweet. I dont eat a lot of fried chicken on a regular basis, so of course being here, I decided to splurge and get that instead of a salad. I went with 1/4 north which comes with 2 sides and a biscuit. I chose the mac & cheese and succotash. Honestly, the chicken was not as good as I remembered it being. It was good but not the best fried chicken I have had. The crust didn't have the same spicy kick I remembered. The chicken was tender & juicy, but just lacked a killer crust. Now, the mac & cheese on the other hand was better than I remembered it being here. I could have just eaten this and been happy! Sadly, I did not enjoy their succotash at all. It was wayyyyyy too onion-y. I don't mind a little bit of onion in succotash but this was so bad, you couldn't get a bite without having a mouth full of onions. Bleh! One other disappointment was the biscuit & gravy. I would actually prefer a good piece of cornbread instead of a biscuit. Especially since their biscuit is ok but not as good as grandma's. The white gravy was bland as well. Hardly any flavor there. Of course, we were too full to order dessert but I bet there are some good things to be had here. You wouldn't find it unless you're looking for it but the parking is horrible because it is a shared parking lot so I suggest coming prepared to drop your party off & wait for a spot or come early. The atmosphere here was nice, my friend & I came here during football season, so it wasn't packed but there were people here. You have the option to sit outside if you'd like, but it was cold so we sat inside & watched the game. I had the breakfast sundae which was actually surprisingly good. I don't like gravy but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was gonna be. I would absolutely order this again. This is a great local casual dining restaurant that's great for families or watching a sporting event with friends. I had the Buffalo cauliflower and salmon BLT as a wrap. Everything is cooked well and served at the proper temperature. The only reason I rated a 4 is there are long waits some nights and weekends. The Young George Washington and the Queen City Stoplight are a tasty rendition of an overpriced cocktail ( I do not believe on an Earth with $12 craft drinks, they should be more like $10). The Cotswold location has a private dining option for celebrations ( I would only recommend the space accommodating 10-12 adults comfortably). The parking options are not grand at all to meet the demand of their shopping center. This is for the Late Night Menu We arrived a little after 10pm on a Sunday. Not too many places are open. My love had never been here before, so he was down. I was hoping to get something off of the regular menu, but the late night menu had a couple of things I could roll with. I ordered a Guns and Rose'. I like the word play and the drink was very good and strong. See pics. Service was ok but could have been more attentive. Seemed like the focus was on closing, but they still had an hour to close. We ordered the jalapeno pimento cheese appetizer, and it was good. I wish it was a little but warmer but it had a great taste. Stopped by on a Friday night and were told we had about a 30 minute wait. So, we headed to the bar to grab a seat. Service started off real slow. We were given a drink menu and we said we would be ordering food then sat for a good 10 minutes waiting for our drinks and appetizer to be taken. Service got better and we chatted with our bar neighbors. They gave us food recommendations and talked about Leroy Fox's new location. For my entree, I decided to get the sideways plate (three sides of your choosing). I got the sweet potato tots, side salad and mac and cheese. Those tots were delicious! They were covered in cinnamon sugar and came with a side of honey mustard. I normally don't like honey mustard but this stuff was good. The mac and cheese was oh soo delicious. My salad dressing was homemade (I forget what kind) but it was different and good. I actually would return and order the exact same thing! :) I was very happy with my food choices. read more

They had the duke versus kanas game on and there were several families present. I was greeted no reservation needed and soon seated. They got my drink order to me quick but after that it it got a bit slow. I had the bourbon themed drink it was wonderful. They have good bar bites and nice place to relax. They have a small section in the front where you can do a small private party or gathering. I had the chicken wrap with the honey mustard on the side and it was pleasant. A friend of mine ordered the fried chicken and felt it was too salty. They have sweet potato tots which is very different. We also had the wings no sausage fried hard and they were okay. I love the look of the place, I went in on a Saturday afternoon and was lucky enough to find it not at all packed. Usually I stay away from restaurants on weekends for that reason. We were seated immediately and given menus to look over. I already knew I wanted to try their burger and my date was anxious to give the chicken a shot. I ordered a Prohibited burger. I absolutely loved the bacon marmalade...a great way to enjoy the flavor of bacon without having to gnaw on too crispy or too big pieces of bacon that can plague other bacon cheeseburgers. I wish there was more cheese on my burger, but I'm a cheesehead so perhaps I'm bias and someone else would not mind. Whenever I stop in again I'll ask for double the cheese! My date (daughter) was a bit underwhelmed with her chicken, she found it a bit bland. She is young, so she doesn't have the most developed taste yet- I will say she absolutely loves meat, I've rarely ever heard her complain about fried chicken. We both gobbled up the macaroni and cheese and would have rather gotten more of that than fries. I will certainly return to Leroy Fox, most likely when it is warmer so I can sit in the patio area.
