Husband pick to go here. I ordered a burger shake. The shake was hot burger was fine. Hubby seen lamb shanks 1 side on special and ordered it. When we got the bill he tells us it's not on special I pointed to the board which showed it was, it didn't say lunch or dinner. When hubby ordered it he pointed to the board waitress didn't correct him either. When we got the bill we went up to pay and to speak with the manger on the price difference. The manger said he had to charge individual all items he received. Soup, shanks, side, and drink (wasn't included anyway) manger was rude and nasty. l went to Lester's Diner location in Margate 3 times in 2018. First time my dad & I scouted it out by ourselves for lunch. We liked it so booked a private room there for lunch for all who attended my mom's memorial service in March of 2018 and I repeated it for my dad's memorial service in July of 2018. They gave us a private room for our group, gave us all the time we wanted it, service was wonderful, & food was great. Plus the location was convenient to Star of David Memorial Chapel at 7701 Bailey Rd. The private lunch with my dad I rate 4 out of 5 stars and the two memorial lunch experiences for my dear parents, forever etched in my mind , I will rate 5 out of 5 stars. It's getting worse and worse. I'm sitting there now in Margate and the manager/owner had people waiting at the door while he and the hostess/cashier decided who was running late and how long they needed to keep them waiting. NO concern for the guests only for how HE wants to run the business. The, next someone came in to pick up some food and the "hostess" (notice the quotes) said, "How the HELL DO I know if it's ready? This place was one of my favorite places near my house. We tried a few times and the food was always good. The experience before the last one wasn't that great since my husband found a hair on his plate, but i decided to give them another chance and i went today with my daughter and her Mac and cheese was definitely out of a box microwave that you can see the terrible cheese clumps, the corn muffin had a white little hair like a pet hair, the service was the worst part of all, server 44 on their system came to my table once and when i ask for my coffee refill she said ok but i waited enough that i had to stand up and go to the front to ask for my check because she never came back if she can't handle to give the service to your customers why would you give this person more tables. Had a breakfast, they stop serving grits at 3pm , but our server ran back to the kitchen and saved me a wonderful cup. My wife had a chicken salad club, that she stated was extremely fresh and amazing in taste and quality!! I personal had the 2 eggs with bacon home fries with wheat toast. I have been to this diner many times. Always good. The coffee is hot and fresh. I ordered the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were big and fluffy and the sausage gravy had big chunks of sausage. So, so good. My friend ordered eggs , pancakes and it came with sausage and bacon. I tried her sausage links and they were some of the best sausage I have ever had. Worth it just for that! Will never go back again!! I went with my aunt on 01/26/20 and the service was terrible. After we were placed in a section, we were not looked at, or even asked for a drink order for the first 10 minutes. The place was not busy at all. Have not been disappointed by anything i have tried so far. The Sunrise Dog is one of the best hot dogs i have encountered in South Florida. Standard 3-star fare. Our table had the Turkey Burger, a couple Skillets, waffles, pancakes, and the corned beef sandwich. Everything tasted good but everything arrived cold or lukewarm. Is a nice and spacious dinner. The service was good but not something that impress me a lot. Could be more friendly and quicker taking in consideration that wasn't full or during rush time. The food portions are good but the flavor is the thing that keep me thinking. I have a higher expectation for a dinner. I've always enjoyed breakfast here. The food is good and most of the time the service is good too. It's a neighborhood diner with lots of great menu choices. My family had breakfast here yesterday. They have been seating every other table in the front part due to Covid. The atrium was closed because they did not have enough wait staff to seat people there. The 3rd room they had was quite busy, but still seemed like the parties were distant enough for safety. Our breakfast came out, piping hot and delicious. While we were enjoying our breakfast, they started pushing together some tables very close to us. They sat a party of 12 so close to us that we had to leave. If a member of that party pushed back the chair 6 inches, they would have been at our table. I did complain, but no one cared so we just left. We did get to eat most of the food and I did pay the check, but we were not done and not ready to leave. I would suggest a booth in the front section if you choose to dine here so that no tables can be moved uncomfortably close to you while you are eating out to support restaurants during the pandemic. read more

If you're looking for that little diner where owner is there working at the counter or in the kitchen, then keep looking. The food was overpriced and lackluster. If you're going for simple no frills food a tiny bacon and egg sandwich on un-toasted cheap bread shouldn't cost $6.50 (plus $3 for side of fries). My wife got a french dip and they forgot the dip. I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice, shiny open diner with a ginormous menu. The menfolk got exactly what they wanted. Pancakes and Mac&cheese. I don't ask. I merely feed them. A great American diner around the block, great parking though it does get very full all the time. Widely open in the inside and let me tell you the amount of food you get is defiantly worth the price. On average for my family of two adults and two children we spend around $50 which isn't bad for for the environment and the fresh and super quickly cooked food. The eggs are always perfectly cooked to our request. The bacon, pancakes and delicious hash browns are also alway cooked to perfection and definitely great for the hungry morning palate. The servers for the most part are always busy, and don't always have enough time to check on you very often and could be a bit nicer. My wife and I one morning wanted to hit up a new breakfast spot we have never been before so we decided on Lesters. From the time we walked in to the time we left the staff was very friendly and the server was very knowledgeable and offered some of her favorites as suggestions. The food was your average good diner food but well prepared. My wife love biscuits and raved that they had the best biscuit of any breakfast spot. She was in heaven. I stopped into Lester's on memorial day for "brunch" as we wanted breakfast and it was noon. We ordered the traditional breakfast with two eggs, home fries (you could chose home fries, hash browns, or grits) and toast (white, wheat, or rye) and sausage (links or patties or you could also chose from ham or bacon). We also ordered a Belgian waffle. Waters and coffee came out quickly, the food took a bit longer than I would have liked, but maybe it really wasn't that long and I was just hungry. I found the eggs to be cooked perfectly and tasted great. The toast was served buttered, which I don't mind, the sausage was cooked well with a little bit of a crisp to it, and the home fries had a good flavor. The waffle was also quite good. Overall not complaints about the food and the service was friendly. The menu was quite large but in my mind diners are really for breakfast foods so I'm not sure I would stray too far from what I had this particular visit. I held back on the a fourth star because Lester's is a little dated, which isn't always a bad thing, but here it has sort of crossed the line from dated to old/dingy. The coffee cups were supposed to be white but were tinted with the stains of probably twenty years of coffee. I get that some of these things are part of the diner vibe, I just kind of wish things were a little bit cleaner. It wasn't dirty in the way that I wouldn't eat there again, but it wasn't clean and welcoming in the way that I'd eat here all that often. read more

Same excuse...don't feel like cooking so let lesters make my dinner!! Started off with soup (it's an all inclusive dinner: soup entree dessert and a drink. Dad got the split pea soup and I had matzo ball. I got the fried chicken and pops got the Greek combo. My matzo ball soup was really good...dad ate all of his split pea. He may have lost his mind but certainly not his appetite!! I would have liked a soup spoon as I got a coffee spoon to eat soup with.the fried chicken IS DELICIOUS. Dad's Greek combo looks good. He's chomping away at it. This was my first time having the fried chicken. .the crispness and coating is cooked to perfection. We both got rice pudding for dessert. I discovered this location while browsing for a snack after class.I have to admit, I love Lester's! It feels like you stepped back into the 50's. The art that lines the walls are old pictures of the surrounding area. I love to look at them and think back to a different time than we know now. I love their chili (it has beans,yummy) it comes in a reasonable size along with the price. I enjoy the pancakes, while my hubby goes for the massive french toast. The service is friendly and quick! I love diners and this is a classic dinner. Their specials are pretty good as is their small steak. Most dishes are a real bargain. The chicken soup is delicious. The Greek salad is delicious though not a real Greek salad since it contains lettuce etc. What do I like to eat there as a main course? The small steak is excellent. So is the beef liver and the Greek chicken. I think the pork chops are much too dry. My mother loves their bread pudding and my son loves their Greek combo (tasty but not very authentic). is everything good? No, my wife does not like it at all. Personally, I think she is expecting too much. What I like about the place is that it is a real diner with honest food, really good sanitary conditions and nice people working there. The service can be sharp and on, or it is really busy and you want to walk out. However- share with your server you need to be out of there and they move you out in a crisp professional way. Always gives me the 5 star treatment. So I discovered this place when I was in the hospital after having given birth to my now 2 year old daughter because they were the only place who delivered waffles at 8 pm! After three days of hospital food I was craving a good waffle and they delivered! Both literally and metaphorically. So I can thank my daughter for this new love for Lester's since I had never eaten there prior. The portions are large so you won't go hungry lol and the menu caters to any and all appetites. It is reasonably priced and has a very historic feel to it so no it's not modern but definitely pays tribute to it's history with cool pictures of margate and coconut creek from decades ago, which I find super cool. Oh did I mention they're open super duper late? Now I haven't been there after hours but I'm Sure it'll beat Denny's late night any day! And I always go for the breakfast but i have tried some lunch dishes (thanks to whoever Is joining me) and they too are great. I know it sounds silly but they have the best French fries!!!
