Being originally from the NE I would frequently eat at dinners and although there are some in South Florida they don't even come close to being as good as Lester's Diner. Place looks like it was decorated to resemble those diners in the 50's and looks very clean well maintained. Staff could have been more pleasant and always smiling (I loved it when I was done and they asked if I would like some fresh home made pie). Place wasn't full but had steady flow of people coming and going, so food was served pretty quickly and was amazing. Been there many times, found it while staying in Pompano Beach. We travel to Lester's from South Dade, a few times a month. The staff is the best, friendly and very helpful and the breakfast is fantastic, The prices are good and the food is very good!!! Large portions. I came here around 12 o'clock this afternoon with my brother and his wife and their baby for some late breakfast. I've heard a lot of local talk about Lester's but today was my first time here. It was extremely busy so parking was definitely an issue but I yolo'd it and parked on the side of the restaurant in the grass. If you are the type of person that can't stand searching for a parking space choose somewhere else. So because it is typically busy you should expect slow to no service. I had to ask for things several times, specifically coffee creamer and water. My waitress was very nice and friendly but most likely overwhelmed with her tables. I ordered the eggs Benedict but I asked if they could add spinach to it and they were happy to do so. It was okay. This is only my second time at Lester's, first being the Fort Lauderdale location. I had a good experience the first time so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. This location is one of the newer restaurants and it seemed so, very clean and well kept. They had a wide range of food to choose from. It was lunch time but I was in the mood for breakfast. Looking to try something different I got the pastrami omelette. The portions was huge and you get a piece of toast and hash browns or home fries on the side. I left that meal full and with leftover. When you pay you have to pay at the front, where they tempt you with their yummy desserts, pies and cookies. It takes a lot of self restraint to not indulge. Diners like this just don't exist in my part of the States, so it was a pleasure to enjoy the large menu and good service at Lester's. I chose the chicken club sandwich. A very big portion with white and dark meat chicken mixed through mayo and served on the usual quartered toast with bacon and lettuce and tomato. Nice red tomatoes! The cole slaw was great, the pickle was awful. Service was very good from Lizzie. The sign says that they're the "Home of the 14 ounce coffee cup" but they only had the usual 8 ounce mugs. First time here and I rank this diner among some of the best here in South Florida. Let's start with the great stuff; their desserts are amazing although I was there for breakfast. The portions are really large so I had to take slices of their banana cream pie home! Huge selection on the breakfast menu. The only reason why I took off a star was simply because for my taste they was a little too much cheese with the corned beef hash. However, the corned beef hash was really good. I love a diner. Want good breakfast? Go to a diner. Want a good burger and fries? Go to a diner. I had seen this Lester's on my drive home and have been dying to try it out. If you follow me on Yelp, you know I eat at a lot of diners so I can't believe it has taken me so long to get to this place. The inside is cool. It definitely has that throwback diner vibe, but in a good way. While most of the time a throwback would mean old (which usually means dingy) Lester's Diner is vibrant in both it's decor, lighting and even it's staff. I am always impressed at how clean it is. Nothing on the floor and the tables are always wiped down pretty much immediately after someone leaves. The first time I stopped here my server Eve was truly amazing. She answered my 100 questions (who has that many questions about diner food? Me). I got to the mile high burger. She was truly impressed that I was able to eat the double-patty burger and fries. I said, "I'm kind of a pig". It was delicious. Cooked to my liking. The burger is big so come hungry and the fries were golden brown and the right amount of crisp. I've also had their chicken club which comes with bacon, lettuce, and tomato. The sandwich comes with pickles and cole slaw. The chicken was rotisserie chicken which is always my favorite way to have chicken salad. If I wanted canned chicken I would have stayed home. I had it on toasted rye bread. Again, a big portion that I happily finished. I'm also a fan of their rice pudding. Vanilla rice pudding with cinnamon and whipped cream. Yum. Welcome to Pompano Lester's Diner. I'm really so glad to see you here, especially since you moved into and completely remodeled that won't be missed crap hole of a place, Cosmos. Anyway, this is now Lester's fourth location and though I've only been their location on 84, I have been going to that one for years, even with the four in the morning crowd when the Copa let out. One of best thing about Lester's on 84 has been their friendly jovial service which I am happy to say has carried over and is very evident with this location. Then, as for food, some of the best you'll ever find in any diner with full portions, lots of things included with dinner meals, and reasonable rates. My long time favorites with Lester's has either been their lamb shank or their stuff cabbage. On this occasion I went for their stuffed cabbage which came with a choice of salad, I chose the Caesar, two sides, and a dessert. The romaine of the Caesar turned out to be crispy, fresh with a good enhancing cheese and croutons, actually all the equal in taste as found in some of what our considered to be the better restaurants of the area. After finishing my salad I was served my stuffed cabbage, be two generous good sized cabbage roll with a tomato based sauce which I found to be hearty as well as delicious in taste. And though I am sure it is of the same exact recipe as used at their State Road 84 location, I would actually swear them as being superior to what I have had there. Could it be possible that for their opening that brought in their best cook? Possibly so, I don't know, but I have any other idea of why or how to explain it. Being new, everything in Lester's is spotlessly clean with the new diner décor being just about as good as any décor in diner that I've ever seen. Certainly nothing fancy, but what I would consider to be diner perfect. Went there this morning. 1/31/2024. Seated without any utensils. Waited along time for coffee. When the food arrived after a long time it was cold. Yes cold. Still no utensils. Waitress walked away. Had to get up and get another waitress who helped us. Our original waitress was sitting in a booth talking with friends. The big issue is where was the manager making sure patrons were being taken care of and all of his wait staff were doing their job, not just a few. Used to like it here. But, recently charged me $7.49 for two alacart eggs. They said they don't charge them any other way than with a meal. The menu showed add-on eggs for $1.50 each, which meant as an add-on to an entree. My only beef with this location is parking but if you're patient and keep your eyes open it wont take long to find a spot. Once inside you'll be greeted by the friendly hostess. Come alone and sit at the bar or bring a group. Theres a large open dining room or a private covered air conditioned patio. Our waitress Samantha popped over to take our drink orders and confidently said she'd be taking great care of us. We routinely order the same thing at the order Lester's near the airport so we offered up our food order right after giving our drink orders. Virginia ham and cheese omelette w cheddar cheese, add mushrooms. Side of grits, sausage patties and homemade biscuit. The food is out in a flash, like under 10 minutes.
