Ordered the Lhasa Liang Fen, Veg Momo, and Jhol Momo potato from this cozy, minimally decorated space. Thirty five minutes later the order was ready. There was one seated table of three when we walked in. The Jhol momo was the best dish although the skin on both momos were way too thick and overpowered texture and taste. The veg momos were only half filled. Not sure what starch was used in the Liang fen but it was light. A touch too spicy but good. I also had to ask the cashier for my change so maybe better to use card payments here. Thirty five minutes for basic dumplings and plain noodles at a restaurant, that didn't taste like they just made the dough and baked and seasoned the potatoes, is not a compelling reason to return.

Special Yellow Lhasa Liang Fen - A Noodle Roll Filled with Spiced Ground Beef

Decided to try out Tibetan food, so discovered Lhasa Liang Fen - from what I saw online reasonably priced making it worth the visit. With small seating, it is tastefully decorated. Being unfamiliar with Tibetan food, the nominal menu descriptions required me to seek translations online. In the end, had issues differentiating between the different Lhasa Liang Fen options, (i.e., the restaurant's namesake,) including Yellow varieties that came in original, Dry, and Special. The picture of the plain and Yellow had one looking like a soup, the other as a roll. The waitress had issues explaining the differences, so they would benefit from complementing each menu item with a small blurb. That being said, I opted for the Special Yellow Lhasa Liang Fen - a noodle wrapped around ground beef with a red chili sauce. (Unsure if that included wai wai., which is some type of crunch noodle if I understood correctly. Again even with repeated tries, it was hard to get clarity from the waitress.) I enjoyed the roll's texture, but - at least for my taste - it was salted a little too much. As a result, decided not to go for anything else for that meal. That being said, there were other items at Lhasa Liang Fen which may be worth a try on a future exploration of Tibetan cuisine.

I came in here around a bit before 1. It's a small place, having maybe 20 seats. No customers were inside, so I had my choice of seats. I had taken a look outside at the menu. I was leaning toward the Dan Dan noodles. When I was seated, there are many pictures of menu items on the table top. I was given a menu. I ordered the DAN DAN NOODLES with tofu, something I rarely have. When it was presented, it looked plain. I didn't realize the sauce was on the bottom of the bowl. Once I mixed it all up, the sayxe was very flavorful. Nutty, a bit thick,hot and spicy. When I was finished eating, there was a bit left. I asked for the to go container to take the rest of home and the check. They were both brought at the same time. Once I packed the food, I went to the cashier to pay. I handed my server $15. I asked for no change. The service was ptofessional and courteous.

Just 4 doors away from the Elmhurst Hospital hides this small eatery serving Tibetan dishes. The exterior is very unassuming. Without reading reviews and not specifically searching for it, I would absolutely overlook this place. Inside is better, small but clean, sporting 2 rows of small tables each seating 4. The counter is situated midway and has some nice ethnic decors. I asked for a menu with the strategy of ordering something that I have no idea what they are. I picked 3 after having the lady explain what they are. It took 15-20 minutes. Here's what I ordered: #1 Lhasa Liang Fen $5.50. This dish is in the restaurants namesake so in a way it's a must. It's a jelly like vegetarian cold dish and is really brittle. I pretty much have to slurp it in. It looked spicy but not so much. Actually a bit in the bland side. If you never had this, you should try once. #4 Stir Fried Thenthuk $9.99. I picked chicken as choice of protein. Think drunken noodle but the pasta is much much more dense, almost like cheese ravioli. After a few bites, I kind of become addicted to this unique texture. #16 Sha Bakleb $8.99. This is more like a meat pocket, or giant fried dumping. With the accompanying red sauce, they are quite tasty and addictive. Came with 4. Service was just meh. The lady who served me didn't do or say anything to make me feel welcomed.

Best yellow laphing in Area! Tried almost every place in Jackson heights now, but i still think they have THE best laphing, my favorite is yellow laphing with soup, but you cant really go wrong with all of them. Order beef chilli, tingmo and chicken chowmien too, This place could get busy, depends of the rush hour. Will definitely come back to try more!

Small in size, but food packed with full flavor. Although we ate while wearing our coats, it was well worth it, as the food came out piping hot and super yummy. We've had Tibetan/Himalayan food before, but this place made those other places feel like we were lied to. Before eating here, not many of the other places we've tried were very memorable nor were we rushing to go back to eat there. This place however, will probably be the location of many more repeat visits. The hostess/waitress was super welcoming. It's a small operation, but everything comes out quite fast and all of it was perfectly flavorful.

I ordered delivery and the food arrived warm and the fried momos were crispy. However, the beef fried momos were really dry. Not sure if they over-fry to compensate the travel but they didn't taste very good. Small filling to wrapper ratio and the beef too lean, or it could've been that they were over-fried. I really enjoyed the chicken momos in Jhol sauce. Those were really good, but I wish there was more Jhol sauce and I think they would've tasted better if the sauce was packed separately as the bottom of the momos got mushy from sitting in the sauce. Wow, that hot sauce they served on the side almost blew my face off. I used a tiny bit with some soy sauce and it was perfect. And when I say tiny bit, I'm talking a teaspoon. I'm sure that sauce would be fantastic for someone who can handle that level of spice. The Lhasa Liang Fen and the yellow laphing with soup were both delicious! Even though my mouth was on fire from the spice. Next time I will order these with less spice. These two will be my go-to items from now on along with trying different combinations of momos. I also want to try the beef tongue as well.

One of the best spots in the area (and there's a million of them here). That cauliflower in the bottom right corner, I still crave it. Momo are great and spice level is intense so beware! Staff was awesome. Place felt very homey. Would return 100%.

Really wanted to love this based on the stellar yelp reviews, but I thought it was just okay. I ordered a white laphing - the texture was really weird and it was uncomfortably spicy. The flavor was just not good. The yellow laphing on the other hand was so much better and the flavor was good. The beef momos were delicious. The chicken momo was dry and the flavor was lacking. Lastly, we got a chicken stir fry with hand-pulled noodles. Honestly, this was the best-tasting dish we got.

AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Restaurant served undercooked/raw, pink chicken. UNDERCOOKED poultry causing food poisoning. Restaurant refusal to acknowledge or refund. We took back the meal to show them the undercooked dumplings. Convenient for them because of cash transactions. Spent over an hour for the food. RIDICULOUS. People order to eat and enjoy their meal, not to wait hours, stay hungry, pay for INEDIBLE food, along with petty, DISRESPECTFUL customer service. read more

Let me preface this by saying that in its current, recently opened state this is probably not a true 5-star place, but all things considered they outperform despite not being completely set up (can't wait for them to deliver). Seems to be a run by an older couple and the place is very small, but service is friendly and prompt. Don't be shy and say hello or call them over if you need anything; they will see you. Menu has 15 items but everything is good. That being said, if you are a momo connoisseur this will not be the best in the area (still solid, use the tin of semi-liquid spice with seeds in it on the side). Spice level is awesome and they will check in to see if you are still alive. Just drink the butter tea; water will only hurt you. You can also get a canned soda but I'd not do that while eating this type of food (you'll regret it). Dishes are small-medium but hit very hard and are quite affordable. Definitely check it out if you are in the area. If you've been to Phayul near the 74th st station, it is like a smaller, friendlier version of that. read more

Fabulous little restaurant for Tibetan cold noodles - liang fen, momos and buns! Highly recommend the beef momos and beef salad. Portions are on the smaller end but enough! Prices are very reasonable most if not all items being between 5 to 7 dollars! Will return. read more

My expectation was really high because its a tibetian resturant and tibetian momos are the best. i bought beef momo, pork salad and tingmo. First of all the momo was very oily and salty and the pork was also really salty. Their momo was not as good as jackson height's. I was really disappointed. read more

It was a boring sunday, so I decided go hunt down some new restaurants to try and came across this mom and pop shop. When we entered the shop it was extremely tiny with barley any seating, thank god a large group of students was leaving just was we entered. The boss lady was extremely friendly and offered us some free butter tea. It was my first time trying it, and I must say it was like drinking liquid salty butter... however I understand that in certain regions they depend on these drinks to survive the harsh winter. So no point off on this one. What turn me off about this place was not the butter tea nor the crazy spice they use but the weak flavor and ingredients. We got the Liang fen, mono, and beef noodle soup. The Liang fen was extremely watery there it diluted the sauce and made it taste like oily water noodles. The momo was tiny dumplings that did not match the menu photo and tasted like store bought. Finally the beef noodle soup had really thick noodles kinda like udon instead of the photo and had barley any beef in it. When we did find a piece of beef it was either organ or some tendons. For the price, I don't feel it was worth it. But the service was impeccable. Hopefully they will upgrade their ingredients to match their services. read more

I recommend this place for Tibetan food, this is my go to spot for Tibetan food and I bring my friends and families here. It's a really tiny place but the food tastes good and the service is okay. This place is now under new management so the transition hasn't really been bad but definitely missing the customer service that provided by Acha Laphing! read more

This is a tiny place. It's nicely decorated with colorful flags and fabric. It has 3 tables and a counter. The menu is small and it features typical Himalayan street food. I love momos, especially lamb and cumin. This places only offers beef or pork. We had the beef momos with the Lhasa Bauzi. The momos were good, dough was freshly chewy. I tend to like it with more cumin spice though. It is served with pickled daikon. The Bauzi is the Himalayan version of shaved noodle soup although it's shape is handmade. It hade beef, mushrooms and a colorful variety of peppers. It had a nice fresh and clean broth. Great for a cold day like today. The tables have chili oil, salt, mixed soy sauce and vinegar. They offer hot tea, hot water or butter tea for free. Take the butter tea if eating something spicy like the chili oil. It's actually very good tea. The seasoning is mild so all can eat, child friendly food and if you like spice, just ask for some. Try it, it's good, clean, friendly service. A great addition to the neighborhood. read more

I brought the family to Lhasa Liang Fen last week for dinner and we were all very pleased. The momos (dumplings) were delicious and I'm a big fan of the spicy chicken dish. The portions are amble and the prices are good. The service is friendly with refills provided for the lentils and eggplant dishes that accompanied the entrees. We will definitely go back to Lhasa Liang Fen. read more

My fav lhaphing spot hands down, the soup lhaphing is the best and dry ones are quite good. Sometimes there is too much wai wai in the dry but overall the best lhaphing in nyc. The fried veggie momos r great too read more

The place is small and easy to miss, but worth looking for. If you want dumplings and noodles, well, you have plenty of choices in Elmhurst. But if you want momo, a hot bowl of lhasa, and spicy beef salad, this place is great. Also priced modestly. They did charge me $1 for the butter tea, btw, so it wasn't complimentary. Service was friendly and prompt. read more

Had the $30 Branzino (didn't realize that it's fried. And that we had a choice between sweet chili sauce, mango salad, cashew cream sauce). The waitress didn't ask which one we wanted. Also had the $18 Crispy Watercress Kung Fu Salad. We were thinking of a duck dish (& I didn't see the Khao Soi - one either softshell crab that I've seen previously), but the couple next to us who's been there twice within the past 2 weeks recommended these two dishes. The salad was lightly battered vegetable, they used Water Spinach instead (big tuber fritters stuck together). The bowl of Seafood Salad (shrimp & calamari, kind of Thai ceviche-style) was OK but didn't have nuances in flavor (spicy sour sweet). The Liquid was deep at the bottom and it was hard spooning things on top of the vegetable. The presentation of the fish was gorgeous - came out on a fish-shaped platter on top of an little flame. The server poured the sauce over the fish and everything bubbled. There was cauliflower and string beans underneath the fish. Didn't realize that it was fried instead of broiled or grilled. We didn't know what sauce we were getting and at first I thought it was tiny bit sour, as I continued eating, it became like a one-note tamarind. Same - there wasn't any sweet sour spicy fishy. We asked for medium-spice when we ordered. It's a little awkard deboning and serving a fried crispy fish on top of a metal platter at a 2-seat table, but my Auntie-skills kicked in and it's no problem for me since I'm familiar with where the bones are. Friend ordered a Thai Coffee also (it might only come iced). The restaurant is beautiful and has a sleek but tropical Asian decor & about 75% full even up to closing. Has a cute outdoor seating area too - a very different vacation feel on a block of Woodside/Elmhurst Queens. Later I come to find out my Queens - born Thai friend said he stopped going to this restaurant after it's renovation and adding sushi to the menu. The ownership changed and he doesn't think it's Thai-owned anymore. Either way, I kind of wish the food met up to the standards of this "Little Thailand" area of NYC. Maybe I'll try them again if they have lunch specials. A couple was sharing a giant beer glass of Thai Tea.
