On Christmas Day 2021 I ordered from Lee hing combination fried rice that was completely missing flavor in the entire pint and a half worth. I order from there all the time with meals including fried rice and it never lacks flavor. the rice is usually more brown in color when the sauce is mixed into it this time it was more yellowish so something was definitely completely missing ... Also when the delivery driver showed up she calls me to tell me that she was here and she wasn't I waited at the door for like 2 minutes and she was nowhere to be found and then I saw that she was parked halfway down the block in the street. When other Chinese takeout can be hit or miss, Li Hing consistently delivers hot, fresh, high-quality food in usually less time than I expect. My standard order is Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, and egg drop soup, which are always really good. I've also tried the sweet & sour pork and egg rolls, which are decent. The only thing I've ordered that I didn't love was the crab Rangoon (not enough filling, not crispy). Overall, the portions are really big. One entree is generally big enough for two meals. I was super hungry & wanted food delivered to my home by the time I was home from work. (I take the CTA) I order 2 watermelon tapioca smoothies, shrimp friend rice, vegetable egg rolls, & egg drop soup. It's as if the delivery driver was waiting for me because 5 mins I got home, the food had arrived. The egg drop soup is literally the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD. I remember always getting egg drop soup as a kid, but over the years the taste from different places I've had it has been meh.. but boy did this one bring back so many memories. It just tasted, right! Boyfriend loved the rice, as did I & the smoothies were very delicious. we have found our go to spot now. Trying a lot of new restaurants since Im a fresh River Forest resident now. I use Yelp since I consider this site as a true indicator of how good or bad the food and service is. I ordered General So comparing it to the best Gen. So dish in IL., China City in Fox Lake. The dish is good and fresh but notably different . The chicken is not crispy, they throw in big chunks of green pepper, onions and red pepper which isn't normal I particularly don't appeal to me. I believe they're trying to appeal to the heavily Mexicam population now overtaking this area which was all white 10 yrs ago no thanks to Clinton and Obama letting the Illegal aliens in without vetting. The sauce is 1/5 as tangy as it should be. The eggroll is only half the size of a normal eggroll. Overall, even with the altered state of the General So dish, its fresh, tasty, and pretty good as well as the veg. eggroll. So in essence, the high star ratings given to Li Hing is somewhat justified. Im glad to say I tried this Chinese restaurant because most of the time, being satisfied with something new is a high risk and not worth the trouble not to mention a waste of money.. Let's see. Li Hing has above average food. I would give them more stars if not for shitty service. A week ago from today (12/25/14) my wife ordered food for pick up. Chicken skin, kimchi fried rice, pad see ew, and chicken egg Foo young. I picked it up about 15 minutes before closing. When I got home, I found out that I was missing the beef kimchi fried rice, instead I got beef basil fried rice. I called them and they apologized and brought the food in less than 20 minutes. Fast forward to today. My wife and I decided that we didn't want to cook, but rather just order food from Li Hing, but I told her we should try Jess Cafe. Same food menu quality is about the same too. We should've ordered from Jess Cafe. The owner (wife) delivered the food tonight and as usual my wife was craving for the kimchi fried rice. When I opened up the bag that held the goodies. There is no kimchi fried rice and the funny thing is that when I ordered the food. I told the guy who took my order about what happened last time and it's still freaking missing. My wife and I love the idea of small businesses. So we try to do our part and try to support them, but when you tell me that it will take an hour and a half for my food to be delivered. You better have everything in there that I ordered and it better be hot. Food temperature today was so so. Not too thrilled about it since it was already missing a key part of our order. I understand that since it's Christmas that they are probably busy, but damn it if they actually looked at the order ticket before they pack the damn food they would have happy customers and save on gas. Just moved to the area and they were the closest, so I didn't have a preference at first. It's a total of 4 minutes away and man, did i find the needle in the haystack! This is the best Chinese food i have ever had! No exaggeration, it is that good! I got their orange chicken, veggie egg rolls, and my husband got the Mongolian beef. All three things tasted amazing! We ordered sweet and sour chicken which was EXCELLENT, shrimp fried rice YUMMY, chicken fried rice (the kids have it two thumbs up) and 2 egg rolls, which we didn't like very much unfortunately. I'm not a huge fan of Chinese food but this place has me sold. It's family owned by a husband and wife who are always there working, who are very kind to their customers. Their crab ragoons are amazing and their vegetable fried rice is great! All the dishes I've tried have been great. Their portions for what you pay is beyond worth it. I ordered delivery from Li Hing, and got the Crab Rangoons, Shrimp Fried Rice, Kung Pao Beef, and the Special Pho Li Hing Soup. The rangoons were fine, as were the fried rice and beef, aside from the "not fresh" taste, the packaging was very messy. The rice that came with the beef tasted very stale and old. The Pho was an entirely different story. The broth smelled odd, like socks had been washed in it. The rest of the ingredients was poor quality AND old (no flavor or taste to anything), and the noodles were gooey. There wasn't one thing that was appetizing about this dish. So happy finally a descent Chinese restaurant that delivers in my area...I drove by and seen that they remodeled the restaurant and it looks awesome, (tired of storefront Chinese restaurants that have the door wide open and 2 tables only) The girl on phone she understood me and I understood her...Delivery was prompt (the same girl on the phone, double duty I guess). I came to Li Hing's with expectations that were not the highest. However, off the bat it felt like the average asian dining experience. But it turned out to be a pleasurable experience. They have a huge selection of food and beverages. The smoothies and iced teas were in point. I had the Thai Ice Tea. It wasn't as rich as the average iced tea but it did have a very familiar flavor. I also ordered crab rangoon as an appetizer. They were almost perfect but could have used a little more flavor. For my entree, I ordered the pork egg foo young. The presentation was average but that taste and texture was to a tee (very good). They used just enough gravy that you had enough for whole entree but not too much that the egg foo young was soggy and unpleasant. I shared it with two others at the table that never had it before and they really liked the dish. Everyone else at the table enjoyed their meals that ranged from chicken teriyaki to shrimp fried rice. The service was very good. They offered split checks and there was no minimum for debit/credit! I didn't feel rushed out and the waitress allowed our group to be comfortable. She also made sure that we had everything we needed like napkins, sauces, refills, appetizers, etc. Service is make it or break it at a restaurant for me so I appreciated the service.
