I have been on a search for a great Chinese restaurant. A good mom and pops Chinese restaurant. I saw good reviews for this place so I decided to give delivery a try. So I'll say it wasn't the worst I've had but it wasn't memorable. I did like their steamed shrimp dumplings. The egg rolls were stale. The chicken and broccoli had a weird taste. The lo mein was decent. Sweet and sour chicken was soggy. I probably wouldn't go out if my way to order from here again. The search continues..

This is from that metal scrubber they use to clean their pots. This was in our food.

Major issue with their quality control. We found this in our rice as we were eating. For those who aren't sure what this is, it's from the metal pot where they cook their white rice from. They use metal scrubbers to get out the burnt rice from the bottom. From that metal scrubber this fell out but should have never been in the food if they rinsed the pot well enough which begs me to further question the quality control when cleaning. When we initially reported this, they informed us they would refund the entire order to make it right. After finishing the other portion of our meals which seemed to be OK, we noticed that nothing was refunded yet and called back only to be informed they would refund the portion of the item which contained this piece of metal. Had someone actually ingested this, it would have damaged our esophagus and probably required surgical removal. I really don't think this restaurant understands the brevity of the issue at hand given their response. If you value your own personal safety, avoid this spot.

Fried rice was undercooked , chicken and broccoli with lo mein was very bland and I got the house special lo mein . I've had much better lo mein . Spring rolls were mushy greasy and bland also . Scallion pancake was way overly greasy (extremely oily and had hardly any scallion in it . Not worth it please don't trust the other reviews please . Bc I did and this place was a huge disappointment.Also the spare ribs were mostly all burnt and a complete waste . This was such a let down as I wanted to try a new Chinese spot .

On this Valentine's Day evening, my partner and I ordered dinner from this establishment as we wanted to support the local economy. They are only serving pickup and delivery. Instead of using their website via GrubHub, I called up to speak with a staff. We ordered the scallion pancakes, General Tso's chicken (marinated chicken chunks, deep fried and sautéed with chef special hot pepper flavored tangy brown sauce) with brown rice and seafood fried noodles for pick up. When we arrived, we found parking at their private lot and I went inside. They only allowed patrons to a small alcove with a window. The staff inquired what we had ordered and waited a few moment. When we got home, the food was warm. The scallion pancakes were enormous but a bit greasy. The chicken tasted like orange chicken. The seafood fried noodles weren't what I imagined. I pictured the Cantonese pan fried noodles with seafood. The noodles they used were Udon. I used my comparison to those restaurants in Manhattan's Chinatown. So, we were a bit disappointed as I always wanted to try out this place.

Food was not the same as other Chinese restaurants. The fried dumplings were sweet, not sure how that happens and using the dipping sauce didn't help. The Sesame Chicken had a reddish color to the sauce, and the pork fried rice tasted like yellow rice with a few pieces of pork and vegetables in it. The chicken lo mien had weird brown pieces of chicken in it, was constantly worrying that they were mushrooms as I am allergic and I said no mushrooms. No fortune cookies!!! How do you end a Chinese meal without a firtune cookie? Parking is difficult if you try to pick it up also. Restaurant was clean, which is always a plus and why I gave it 2 stars. Only went because our normal place is closed on Sundays and wanted Chinese food. Lian's Kitchen had a high ranking on Yelp, but I don't think we will be going back anytime soon. read more

I have been ordering from Lian's Kitchen for about 2 years now.. and I order OFTEN and they NEVER messed up my order, never late.. sometimes even arrives a lot sooner than expected. My food is always fresh. Absolutely delicious. The drivers are always so kind. I recommend this place a thousand times!!! read more

Had the chicken Udon and it was disgusting. The "chicken" had no texture or taste and the soup no flavor. I work in Manhattan and get my Udon in Chinatown, so I'm sure this is NOT good. I guess this place is best for fried foods. read more

This spot is pretty good not like the greasy spoon I am used too.. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing lol...the chicken teriyaki is super fresh it comes lightly sauce on top of a bed of cabbage and broccoli...yum.. I ordered the fried dumplings as well, those could use some more love.. the sauce they serve with helps so much but without it there isn't much flavor and I think instead of deep frying them they could steam and then lightly pan fry both sides..Will definitely order again as I am wanting to try their coconut shrimp... read more

The food is like the typical average Americanized Chinese food. Food always comes on time. That's a plus. I docked 2 stars... I don't like how they've been increasing the price of everything since late last yr. I get there may be some cost increases for chicken or pork... Or rice. Whatever it may be. But this place seems to be the only Chinese food place that has increased their prices and really... Taste wise, value wise. You aren't getting more. It still tastes the same. Looks the same. Amount is the same. If you're comparing the food here to any other Chinese food restaurant in the area, they're basically the SAME. So... As a consumer, I don't understand how the price increase is justifiable. For example, since late last yr, 3 pcs chicken tenders w/ fries (Kids love) went from $5.55 to $6.75. Friends come over periodically and we'd order Chinese food from here. The fried chicken w/ pork fried rice... Went from $6.35 to now $7.95. Boneless spare ribs combo went from $7.95 to $9.25. Large chicken broccoli went from $9.45 to $12.25. Even the teriyaki specials, friends enjoyed this dish... $6.75 to $8.35. We were going to place an order but the total was about $10 more than the last time we had ordered. We will be ordering from a different place since I can't justify spending that much more on food that hasn't changed in value, taste, appearance... Etc. read more

So every time my family and I have ordered from here, we order a variety of platters. Chicken teriyaki is awesome, the veggies that have come in all of our orders are always fresh with a nice crisp to them. My daughters a huge fan of the udon noodle chicken soup and she insists we get it every time we order. This time we ordered the beef teriyaki (chicken was better), chicken with mixed vegetables (chicken was bland), house mei fun (new favorite dish) and hot & sour soup (spicy and delicious). Overall I'm giving them 5 stars for customer service, prompt delivery, and out of all the dishes we have ordered from here there were only 2 dishes we thought were ok. read more

I don't really eat Chinese anymore but I saw this place getting pretty good reviews so I decided to give it a whirl. I got a spring roll which was decent no complaints there. I also got a vegetable udon bowl. I'm not sure if this dish typically comes with some type of sauce but it tasted like they just threw in steamed vegetables and cooked noodles in the bowl together. I put every kinda sauce they gave me to try and spice it up. Even though it was a huge bowl, there was no flavor, for that, I would of gotten a lo mein for half the price ‍ read more

I thought I would look for another Chinese place, other than my usual. Called for delivery and the person over the phone was great. Ordered the boneless spare rib combo that comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. Also ordered the lemon pepper wings, shrimp fried rice and steamed dumplings. The steamed dumplings were just ok. Lacked flavor. Definitely like them better from East Wok. The wings were decent. The boneless spare ribs were good. I wasn't sold on the fried rice. Maybe I was thrown off by the bright yellow color ? They didn't include any duck sauce - which I thought would be an automatic. Overall decent food, but probably won't order from there again. read more

Hands down best Chinese spot around. I'm picky when it comes to how places make their chicken and broccoli but I have zero complaints here. It always taste great. Service is quick and staff is super nice. I wouldn't order Chinese food from any other place around here. Recommend 10/10. read more

The best Chinese place... Delicious food and the staff is really friendly. Great phone etiquette! They have a larger menu than other Chinese food places. They have walnut shrimp (my favvv) which majority of places don't. I usually pick up, and they're always ready at the time they estimated. read more

Ordered take out from this place and what a nice surprise. The food was delivered in a timely manner and was still warm; with this 17degree weather that's a major plus. Tried the chicken lo mein, spare rib tips, and chicken with broccoli. Everything was delish, the spare rib tips are a must try. read more

I have been ordering here for over a year. Their food is really good! I usually order the shrimp lo mein or shrimp teriyaki. The portions are generous and delivery is quick. My only criticism is that their mozzarella sticks don't come with marinara sauce but still, 5 stars is well deserved. Always my go to for Chinese food. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Lian's Kitchen since it was established and introduced to our town back in 2016. I can honestly say that from my first experience with Lian's, I've never had an order that I had picked up or had delivered be incorrect, or incomplete. The food is delicious and fresh every single time you order, deliver time is quick and the employees at the restaurant are always polite and welcoming. When it comes to comparing their food to other local Chinese Restaurants/Asian Cuisine, they are at the top of the list. You can taste the difference in everything from the ingredients that are used in their dishes, to the oil it's being cooked in, the freshness of their ingredients, right down to the presentation of their meals and side dishes. My delivery is always ready when I got to pick up my food and even before COVID-19 when they delivered to me I've had an excellent experience with them! They are one of my good to choices for take out for us! read more

Lian's Kitchen is by far the best Chinese Restaurant in Garfield, NJ that you will ever find. I have been ordering from them since their grand opening and I have never gone to any other Chinese Restaurant since. When they left on 3 months hiatus due to the COVID-19 lockdown, I did not go anywhere else. Even when others opened before then after the lockdown, I still did not go anywhere else. I waited for Lian's to open. Their food is so well cooked and so delicious. Their portions leave you with leftover lunch for work for the following day. Their restaurant is so clean and so inviting. The people that work there are humble and so nice. They're always have a smile on their faces and they make you feel at home. They make you want to come back. Their prices are also great for the food that you get. I love this restaurant and I love the employees there's. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. Once you buy from them, you will want to go back over and over again. They are amazing. I just love them. These people are blessed, and there restaurant is blessed. They quickly became our favorite Chinese takeout. The food arrives quickly, freshly made and piping hot. I've been to the store and spoke with the owner, who is very focused on delivering a good client experience. They use warm bags to carry the food, which may seem like a small thing but it makes a difference. read more

I was a little nervous ordering from here because some of the reviews weren't the best. Turned out to be delicious. I ordered a hot and sour soup, teriyaki chicken, boneless spare ribs and vegetable lo mein. Delivery was quick, the food had lots of flavor and the lo mein wasn't greasy at all. This will be my new go to Chinese spot. read more

The taste of it all was just a bit off and not as good as other Americanized Chinese fast food we've had at other places. It was worth a try to see if they served better pan fried dumplings than our favorite Chinese fast food restaurant, but the answer was a clear NO. As for the other food, it wasn't much better either.

Americanized Chinese food that could be MUCH better…read more As a Chinese American, I've had my fair share of legitimate Chinese food in my lifetime and love Chinese food. However, I will also say that I've also had my fair share of Americanized Chinese food. Most Chinese people probably wouldn't be too proud of that fact, but I consider myself a man of every food. I don't discriminate just because a twist doesn't make a food authentic - yah dig? If it taste good, it taste good, even if not authentic. With that said, I do want my Americanized Chinese food to taste just as good as any I've had in the past and, unfortunately, Ya Food Chan's just didn't cut it for me. Maybe it'll do for you, but, for me, I've had much, much better. First off, as you'd expect with most local Americanized Chinese restaurants, this place can sure use a makeover. Honestly, it almost feels like a health risk every time I have Americanized Chinese food anywhere because some spots can look sketchy and Ya Food might be teetering on that border. I am glad to report though that I am 100% healthy and the food was fine. As for the menu, it has all of your typical favorites - Chicken and Broccoli, General Tso's Chicken, Egg Foo Young, etc., etc., etc. The menu was pretty typical of all Americanized Chinese restaurants. My wife and I decided to take a chance and we came here to order a few lunch specials and misc. items: Chicken with Mixed Vegetable Lunch Special Egg Foo Young Lunch Special Beef with Black Bean Sauce Lunch Special Pork Dumpling Hot and Sour Soup Typically, when we order Americanized Chinese food, we order from the Lunch Special menu and, shockingly, the prices were pretty much on par with other restaurants we had been too when we lived in NYC. From 11am-3:30pm, their lunch specials go into effect for anywhere from $7.15-$8.00. In addition, their lunch specials come with white, roast pork or vegetable fried rice and a choice of wonton, egg drop soups or an egg roll/soda. So, the prices are reasonable, but, unfortunately, the food was blah. In no way, am I expecting a 5 star meal, but the flavors were just off. The Egg Foo Young itself was fine, but the sauce for it did not taste good. It definitely was not what I have been accustomed to. The roast pork fried rice with our specials were OK. As for the soups, wonton, egg drop and hot & sour - all a real disappointment. All of them were watery and not very flavorful. Like I said, I don't expect a 5 star meal when eating at such an establishment, but I would expect better flavors for what it is. Americanized Chinese food is sort of my guilty pleasure and there was no pleasure eating the food we ordered. I'm hoping this was a one off and I might give them another shot, but there are also plenty of other Americanized Chinese restaurants in NJ that I would like to give a chance before coming back.

Total came out to $12.45, awesome! The food came quickly and the delivery guy was nice. However, the food was so incredibly bland... even with the sauce, the boneless ribs had no flavor. Sesame chicken was okay, and I ended up having to put a few packs of duck sauce on the rice. I did like the cheese wonton though. With prices so low, I think I'd give this place another try soon and order something else.

Stepped in and was greeted by the nicest lady who immediately offered me a sip of their "uptown" drink - a mix of iced tea and lemonade. It was quite tasty. That was just the beginning of the warmth that this establishment exuded, they were super nice and friendly. They asked my name, but I forgot to ask theirs. As I waited for my food, she began bringing me samples of the sides and desserts. She had me sample the banana pudding (she asked first if I ate bananas) - this was super flavorful of banana, as another review said, not just vanilla pudding with some sliced bananas in it. Beyond that, she brought me a little piece of frosted banana bread, a dense, rich flavorful lemony cake, and a frosted pound cake. The lemony one was my favorite. Next came a bit of sweet potatoes, with huge flavor that I haven't really experienced before in a dish like this. She also let me try the mac and cheese (great spices in it!) and collard greens (tastes just how you expect!), as well as one of their "French fries" which is a round slice of potato, really good and so much more interesting than normal fries. She brought this out with her rib sauce to taste/dip, which was also good. She also had some great conversation about boxing and bringing the neighborhood together. When I got my food, it was bursting out of the takeout container and she had to use a rubber band to keep it closed. The cutlery set came with A dumdum lollipop and a piece of bubble gum as well. I ordered: 2 piece fried chicken - leg and thigh with mac and cheese and collard greens and cornbreak. They also added a few fries in, coleslaw, and hot sauce. The chicken was tasty, but the pieces were huge! The cornbread was dense and sweet, delicious. The coleslaw was super creamy. I'll be back and I'd encourage anyone nearby to check it out.

Came to the store with my husband to order after hearing good recommendations from my co-workers. And I am honestly blown away! The food really lived up to the great reviews. I order the Chicken Teriyaki and my husband ordered a Beef and Shrimp one and it was delicious!!!!!! Not to mention the store was really tech savvy and the Christmas decorations were adorable.
