    The Nova Classic Sandwich
    Rogel H.

I gave it 5 stars for the wonderful service we received from the staff. They are very attentive and prepared our delicious Nova Classics bagels order with such care and a smile. They put extra touch by giving us sliced cucumbers to accompany with our bagels. The place is clean and ate al fresco and plenty enough of seats to dine. Yes the Nova Classic sandwich was almost 20 bucks but it was good and made to our request. I like the location and the friendly service. Will try the other location but this place is a must if you are ever near Studio 54.

Had some time to waste waiting for a show and went in for a quick bite and drink. The egg salad on a pumpernickel bagel was perfect. The egg salad was light and a perfect pairing for my toasted pumpernickel bagel. Had a black and white cookie as a sweet treat and washed it all down with a vanilla latte. Staff was nice and helpful with all my questions.

Jalapeño capers cream cheese was insane! Such a fun unique flavor that I haven't had anywhere else. Bread wasn't terrific. Lil soft and didn't feel the freshest.

While visiting New York City recently I really wanted to find a good bagel place. I searched Yelp and Google Maps and found a highly rated spot within 2 blocks of my hotel! So on a rainy Autumn morning I made my way to the Pick A Bagel at the corner of 8th Avenue and 53rd street. Once inside I found a busy kitchen with tables full of folks having breakfast. The large menu runs across the wall above the kitchen area - easy to read. I joined the line and scanned the menu, seeing many choices of bagel flavors and schemer (they have 8 flavors of cream cheese). I chose the everything bagel with regular cream cheese and for my wife the pumpernickel with regular cream cheese as well. I scooted down the line to the cashier and ordered two small mocha to go. Within a few minutes I was walking back to our hotel with bagels and fresh coffee. The bagels were soft and full of flavor - and they were not stingy with the cream cheese - plenty loaded into our bagels. Loved our food so much, I returned the next morning and ordered an Egg Sandwich with bacon and cheese on a plain bagel. It was also delicious. They have 5 locations in Manhattan - will happily return for a breakfast on the go when I make my way back to the Big Apple.

Ugh havent had a bagel in forever and this his the spot. The strawberry cream cheese w the everything bagel is so good! Nice spot central to all of our destinations. And their operation is pretty breezy. Make this stop!

Wanted to try a bagel before heading home from a NYC trip and they did not disappoint. My friend and I both got bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwiches were absolutely delicious. Don't be discouraged by the line as it moves quickly. I was very impressed with how well staffed they were. The iced mocha I had was also delicious and strong. Seating is a bit limited so be prepared to take your food to go. They also have other breakfast items like pancakes if bagels are not your thing.

Out of all the bagel spots in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood we believe Pick A Bagel reigns supreme. Always packed in the morning for good reason, they just have good bagels, light but filling and always incredibly generous on the cream cheese. The inside is clean but sometimes it can get messy due to the constant flow of people coming in. Seating here is always an issue as it's very busy and tourists tend to take up large swaths of the place but again, it's worth it. They have an extensive menu and pastries as well as drinks. The line moves quickly, usually doing a lap around the store. You can place orders for pickup if you don't want to wait, which we've done before and will admit is much more time efficient. Our go to orders from here are a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and an everything bagel with egg salad. The plain bagel is thick but light, piling with cream cheese and leaving you with a monster of a bagel in the process. The everything bagel there is phenomenal, all the right seasoning and all the right crunch from everything on top. The egg salad is also great, filling and savory and they also pile it on with that too. Whenever we eat here we go "that's a NY bagel" and for good reason. While on the pricier side for bagels, we think you get what you pay for and to us you're paying for the best bagel around, which will always be worth it (at least to us). I was unsure what I wanted when I entered but as I came in, I was asked what I wanted, I asked for a moment to think, but was quickly asked again, so I just went with a toasted everything bagel with cream cheese. As I went to go pay, I was told the apply pay wasn't working. I didn't want to unlock my card, and asked the employee to try the other register, which another employee assisted him in getting working. I was rather perturbed when I saw the cost $5.44. I was initially going to get the scallion cream cheese, which probably would have been $10. However, I didn't not, because I felt rushed. Once I try the bagel, I realized, it was mediocre, and surely not worth the cost. This was my first and last time with this place.

This was the first bagel I had on a recent trip to NYC. Pick A Bagel was right near a meeting spot so I got a bagel to-go here. I went with whole wheat everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, bacon, and avocado. It was decent but nothing to get excited about. The cream cheese selection was pretty extensive!

Everyone told me when in New York, eat a bagel. They are the bedt bahwls ever However they couldn't verbalize what made New York bagels so much better than other bagels. I will say New York bagels are indeed better. The glutenous and chewy texture is superiour. It is thicker, and more substantial. They stuff it with a good amount of ingredients. I got the breakfast special one. Smoked salmon, red onions, cream cheese, capers, bagel, coffee. The coffee was just okay. The bagel was too big. I couldn't finish it.

    Temima N.

We chose this bagel place since it was on the way & had a decent amount of options! I went with the scallion tofu cream cheese & my partner had the strawberry cream cheese on a wheat everything bagel. Both were delicious & had a hefty amount of cream cheese. Would go here again!

Great bagel taste and texture, but topping weren't arranged evenly though so slid apart too much and was tough to eat. Generous amount of smoked salmon even if it is a little expensive. Super chaotic environment so not great for sit down -- they don't take your name when you order and just yell out what bagels everyone ordered so it's hard to tell who's is whose. Pretty busy and took a while to get our order.

We had the raspberry tart and the milk cloud cake. Price points were very high, even for midtown pastries. I enjoyed the milk cloud cake because of the black tea infused cream really came through. The other bits in it were not as impressive--the small chocolate bits were dry and this viscous layer in it (tapioca?) lacked taste. The raspberry tart was very adorable with two macarons. The tart shell was a bit dry and crumbly, but if you like raspberry the flavor does come through in the filling. The staff weren't warm in any way, but we're in midtown which tends to be hectic, and we were there at the end of the day so it's not a dealbreaker or anything really egregious. The place isn't very spacious for seating, so unless you're coming at a time that isn't busy, you might not get a seat/I'd plan around getting your sweets to go. That was no problem for me this time around, though. Overall this place is cute, and if you're looking for an Asian-inspired treat in midtown before a broadway show (Wicked is nearby) this could be an option for you. I just wouldn't expect it to particularly standout in terms of price and quality.
