Always want to give credit when it's due especially when it comes to local business with excellent customer service. I found Liberty Bell Smart Home when I was seeking alternatives to the typical national contract-based home security providers. I was sold on their customer service on the first phone call and it was just smooth sailing from there--from the initial house walkthrough and estimate with Lee and to the installation with Yang. On my installation day, the rain had threatened to reschedule camera installation for another day but they took the risk during the day's dry spell and Lee brought a whole other team to finish the job with Yang. I have no other provider to recommend than Liberty Bell Smart Home and because of their customer service and expertise I am looking forward to using them to help me with other smart home-related functions! read more

Liberty Bell came pre-installed with my Elliot home I bought in 2020, so I signed up with them to continue service. I have had many issues with their equipment since, from the main panel glitching and not making noise for any alerts, to their sensors being faulty and incorrectly alerting to alarms that are not accurate. I had to eventually manually turn two of my sensors off because they were constantly alerting when I set the alarm for no reason, and they wanted to charge me to have someone come out to fix it. I tried almost 6 years to suck it up and rectify with them, but no more. My final straw was this week when my IQ main Panel started glitching and showing a screen overlapped with Spanish so I could barely use it. I reached out for assistance and was told I could reboot but if that didn't work a replacement would be needed at my own cost because after 1 year of contract the equipment is the responsibility of the homeowner (per their "policies"). So now, not only do I have two sensors not working but a main panel that is unusable unless I pay a good chunk of money for a new one, and am paying $40 monthly for security that is basically useless at this time. Their customer service was dismissive of my complaints and did not care for my concerns. I'm making the switch to a bigger brand company that offers more equipment for half the price and half the monthly price for monitoring, with lifetime equipment guarantee. With the number of options out there for home security, you'd think they'd try a little harder to update "policies" and help retain long time customers. read more

this company does not even deserve one star.Their communication is seriously lacking when calling for assistance. The equipment is terrible and fails quickly. Service calls are absolutely ridiculous prices but it is their failing equipment that is the problem. I previously had adt and I never had an issue equipment or service. One person at LB claimed that they called me back after repeated emails to them yet. I checked my voicemail and telephone for the phone number and there was never any message to me. One of my cameras has never worked. But they blame it on my Wi-Fi when they should've installed a hardwired camera. Rotten service. read more

I am shocked & disappointed by the subpar customer service provided by Liberty Bell and Will Nord. Our company experienced many of the same challenges outlined in other online reviews, including multiple installation issues due to Liberty's lack of preparation and incorrect equipment. Unfortunately, these mistakes were met with no apology, and the team appeared inconvenienced when asked to rectify the problems. Scheduling services with them has also proven to be difficult, with extended delays and a lack of responsiveness. In one instance, we encountered a faulty device, and after three days of attempting to schedule a technician, Will's attitude was dismissive and unprofessional. He seemed angry by our need for assistance and his approach to scheduling felt unnecessarily punitive. It truly seemed like he was working to lose our business. Ultimately, we were left with no guidance on how to transition or ensure a minimal lapse in coverage after deciding to cancel our contract. The entire process was unnecessarily complicated and painful. In over a decade of working with security vendors, I've never experienced such unprofessionalism and poor customer service. If you need a security system, you need a company that isn't going to punish you if you ask for help or decide to transition service. It puts your assets at risk, and Liberty just does not seem to care. I'd avoid at all costs. read more

I have been a customer of Liberty Bell for 30 years. Recently, my system went down, and said "Low Battery," so I replaced the wireless backup battery AND all zone batteries. System still not working. Talked with Will, service mg.- he had me do couple things but issue not resolved. Said could not get service tech out until 6 weeks from now to check system or do upgrade. We moved into a new home in Feb 2024 and Liberty Bell came out to install the sound, home alarm connections and control panel on our Elliot-built house. They installed a panel that was actually obsolete (one which we cannot get batteries for anymore--it's like they sold us the leftovers they wanted to get rid of). In order to deal with this battery issue, they charged us $250 for a service call in order come and to tell us the panel was obsolete--they did not offer a replacement or take any ownership. We also had a two-year contract which they renewed without our permission. We are moving now and have to pay the balance of the contract we cannot use and do not want to hook up at our new home (more costs incurred, plus they are terrible--why would we we renew?) and this is for a control panel the new homeowner will not even be able to use--the new owner will have to replace a panel that is just two years old because of Liberty Bell's sub-par equipment. Furthermore, the remote they gave us for our system was a dinosaur, cost us $800 and was clunky and difficult to use--did not consistently work. We ended up having to hire Geek squad to re-do a lot and to get our Sonos running with Apple TV installed and could not even use most of what Liberty Bell gave us. At one point they got a new emergency response team and did not tell us, so when we had a false alarm we were unable to turn it off. We do not recommend this company to the people buying our house or to anyone else. There were a couple of service men who were nice enough, but the customer service is lacking overall when they put janky old equipment in a brand new home and hope we won't notice. The concept of all the items they offer is great but do they actually work as intended? A lot of the times, no. I find myself troubleshooting signal issues on a constant basis. It's been pretty frustrating. I hear a noise outside and want to check my cameras... are they working? No, first troubleshoot the connectivity and then see what that noise was that happened 10mins ago. To me it's just not worth it, and I regret getting stuck in this contract. We were very impressed with our sales representative Sam R. He was detailed and knowledgeable of both the system workings and of the industry as a whole. We PITY THE FOOL who goes through all of the trouble for A YEAR (meaning, husband and I) trying to make Simply Safe work for a real property. The video equipment quality is top notch. And Liberty Bell used our existing sensors to make full use of what was previously installed. Our monitoring while away is outstanding and the customer service in the VERY FEW (2) times we've needed to call has been efficient. I could not get s tech out here for 4 months and was asked to troubleshoot myself with emails. In the meantime they would not discount my monthly bill for cameras not working. I admit it was partly my fault. My daughter passed away tragically. I was distraught but there were things that needed to be done. One of the first things was to make sure her home was secure since I lived in a different town. I called Liberty Bell and explained my situation. Probate could take several months but I would probably be able to sell her house within a year. In the meantime, I wanted to purchase a security system with cameras. I agreed to the monitoring system. There were a few issues shortly after installing and that's when I had my first red flags. Even though they had just installed it, they would only help over the phone without paying a fee. I lived in a different state. I wasn't there to fix things myself even with a phone consultation. I was mourning the tragic loss of my daughter and although the salesman seemed compassionate there wasn't any compassion for my situation after the hefty fee for the system was paid and the contract was signed. Several months later probate had finally made me the executor. I could finally sell the house. Packing and disposing of my dead daughter's possessions was overwhelming but we staged it well and the house sold quickly. The new family wasn't interested in the security service. It wasn't until I called to cancel the $59 a month monitoring service that I realized I had been sold a 3 year plan. Yes, I agree, I should have read the contract but I was in heavy grief. The salesman knew that. I was under the impression that the substantial up front fees I paid were for the system and the monitoring was month to month. The salesman knew I would only need the system for a year max. He took advantage of my grief and my trust and presented me with a 3 year contract knowing full well that was more than I needed or wanted. I called to see if they would make an exception. I asked if they would make a compromise if I paid a lump sum but they would only accept was the full balance of the contract. I don't dispute that I made the mistake of signing the contract without scrutinizing the details. I just want the buyer to beware that this company will trick and deceive and lead you to believe the contract is something it isn't. As a final FU, when I was trying to negotiate they sent me a cancelation of service form to sign. Again, I assumed that this meant the senior person they were talking to had decided to show some compassion and cancel the monitoring service. I was grateful so I signed it and returned it. Boy was I wrong. They were still going to charge me but I just released them from the obligation to monitor. Buyer beware. This company is as shady and despicable as they come. read more

I like my system but an error was made during installation and one exterior door was left without a sensor. No one from Liberty Bell ever noticed the omission even when they inspected the system. Months later when I brought it to the company's attention, they said that not only would I need to pay for a sensor which I understood, but I also would be charged a $350 minimum labor fee for them to come and add a sensor to an exterior door that should have been installed during the initial install. They failed to secure my home or made an error in the number of sensors necessary and then charged me a labor fee to rectify the situation. The least they could have done was offered a discount. I found them rigid and uncaring and they made me pay labor for fixing their mistake. Not how to win over customers. read more

I recently had one of their technicians come over and install some more motion sensors in my home. He arrived on time and was very courteous and articulate about all the options he could provide. I told him what I wanted and he very quickly and efficiently performed the installation. After he was done he even did some extra work that was not on the appointment. I tried calling them to set up help with my control4 remote. They ghosted me the first time (a sales rep will call you back). Then when I called back, the guy recogonized me, said he would get a sales person, and then it went to voicemail. I called back, and another rep got on the phone, said they would transfer me, straight to voicemail. Wow. IMHO, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Why would they not call me back? I've had Liberty Bell Alarm since July 1999 and had no problems with the alarm company until I dropped the monitoring service in 2023. Since then, I had a problem to come up and was told that they no longer service Vallejo, CA and cannot fix the problem even though I am willing to pay for the service call. I thought that since I was a long time customer (almost 25 years) and also willing to pay for the customer service, that they would come and fix this recurring problem with the alarm system that I have to deal with on a daily basis. I was told to get another alarm company to look at it, however, another alarm company does not have the service codes that were originally installed by Liberty Bell to my alarm. My suggestion to the owner and managers at Liberty Bell is to not disregard and forget about any previous long time customers just because they drop the monitoring service but to stand on business by treating your customers fairly. read more

Called again Friday morning and was told the same thing. Called a different company Friday afternoon and they were there the next morning and did a "take-over" for no extra charge. In that time frame I have upgraded my system and the experience was always professional and friendly. Blake and Ryan just left our home for a repair and software update. Blake was one of the original installers of our entire system when we put it in 1.75 years ago. His courtesy, friendliness, knowledge and skill are always evident when he is here for a repair or adjustment. He noticed that two of our motion detectors were the subject of a recall and replaced both of them on the spot.
