I've only ordered slices here, and the quality and cooking is consistent. This place has a great straight up plain slice for a reasonable price; crispy yet chewy crust, never floppy, and their sauce and cheese is good, too. This place is run by scumbags. I simply asked them to make my special sandwich, chicken cutlet, motz cheese, vodka sauce and prosciutto (cause pork product on anything makes it better). The ANGRY Jezebel behind the counter claimed that the could not make things not on the menu. I have eaten here many times and it is no where as good as the owners think it is. You are a crappy pizza place in Murry Hill, you are not Babbo or Centolire. Make what your customers order! The only time I will ever go into Libretto's again is to drop a #2 in their dirty bathroom. I have lived in Manhattan for 12 years and this was the WORST DELIVERY EXPERIENCE OF MY ENTIRE 12 YEAR RESIDENCE IN NY. The following account is 100% accurate with no exaggeration or hyperbole. On a Sunday night, I called Libretto's and ordered (1) grilled chicken hero, (2) chicken parm hero, and (3) 2 slices of sicilian pizza. After 45 minutes, the delivery man arrives and drops off the delivery -- after he leaves, we open the bag and realize that both heros were not delivered, but they delivered the pizza and a chicken parm platter. We immediately call the restaurant and speak with the manager to notify him that we did not receive both heros and think they mistakenly sent a chicken parm platter -- he is annoyed and tells us he will have to have his deliver man finish the rest of his deliveries, come back to the restaurant, and then re-deliver the heroes. We tell him that we are going to start eating and would appreciate if he could send the correct order - he says it will be another 30-40 minutes. In the meantime, we have to warm up the pizza (it is borderline refrigerated) and decide to start eating the chicken parm platter, only to open the platter and realize it is eggplant parm (which we don't care for) so we just close the lid AFTER we have cut into the eggplant parm. After 10 minutes, I receive a phone call from the restaurant manager asking me if I received an eggplant parm platter - I tell him that I had told him that we had received a chicken parm platter by mistake but when we cut into it, we realized it was eggplant parm and therefore, closed the lid. He proceeds to ask me "how bad is it -- is it really cut into?" and "that was someone else's order you started eating -- how can you do that?" -- I am shocked and taken aback. They delivered the wrong food, and while we are being patient and nice he is (1) yelling at me for starting to eat something I thought they delivered incorrectly and (2) he is thinking about re-delivering the food to another customer!!! I ask him if he is really thinking about re-delivering this eggplant parm, and he proceeds to tell me that he will have to charge me for the eggplant parm as I ate it when I should have returned it when the delivery man returned with my correct order (which would have been 1.5 hours after I originally ordered the food). I tell him that I refuse to purchase the eggplant parm - it is the restaurant's fault they delivered the wrong food upfront, we are being patient, and it is ridiculous they would consider re-delivering anything to one customer that has already been opened by another customer. The manager FLIPS OUT - he uses enough profanity to make a drunken sailor look like a care bear and proceeds to call me dumb / stupid / retarded / an idiot, etc....after a full 3 minute tirade by him, HE hangs up the phone on ME. I am shocked and spent most of his rant in silence - I call him and ask him whether he just hung up on me - he says yes...I proceed to cancel the order and he hangs up on me again. In a city with so many great restaurants with terrific service, it is sad that places like this even exist - bad food, terrible service, and average prices. You deserve better - I encourage you to NEVER order from this place...ever. read more

Having frequently visited New York numerous times in my life I have always dreaded the expense of dining out in the city. Nearly anywhere you go you are bound to spend over $300 dollars for a party of five. Until however, I stumbled upon Librettos Pizzeria on 36th and 3rd. We walked into the quaint, charming pizzeria expecting, in all honesty, to get nothing but a regular slice of pizza and eat conservatively. Nervous to ask for a table for five in the busy restaurant the staff behind the counter was most accommodating and stated that if we would give them a moment they would be sure to have a table ready for us. We took this time, while preparing a table for us, to sit in the window and admire the atmosphere. The manager Doug was prompt and continuously checked in making sure that we were alright and consistently asking if we needed anything. After no more than 15 minutes our table was ready and we were seated. Upon ordering drinks from our server who was quite quirky but yet very informative the manager came over again and made sure everything was alright. He and the server both recommended us dishes and pizzas that they thought our table might enjoy and so taking their advise we ordered a couple different appetizers and than a few different entrees along with a pizza. The food was delicious, one minor complaint being that the calamari was a bit chewy but it wasn't contingent upon us being able to finish the dish, which we did. Finishing our meal along with a few beers and three bottles of wine for our table, the manager Doug, came back over and made sure everything was okay asking if we needed anything before he placed the check down. SHOCKED, is the only word I can say, the bill was under $200 dollars which was so surprising. For the amount of food and amazing service the server along with the manager provided, who was quite busy consistently answering phone calls and running around, I can definitely say I will be back. The staff members made you feel as if you were right in your own home with family and friends and welcomed and assisted any question you might have had. I cannot wait to return even if it is for a slice or to say hello to the wonderful people who work at the Librettos' establishment. I have recently visited Libretto's in NYC twice and each time, I have received HORRIBLE/RUDE service from Margaret who is the server. Apparently she has entirely too much on her plate and has not been trained how to deal with pressure (4 tables) and still be courtesy to her customers. I have never been treated so nasty at place that I was paying MY OWN hard earned money. During today's visit she complained about having an employee, who she won't even let help her by pouring glasses of water. When I called back today to ask to speak to a manager, she literally hung up in my face. Never again will I visit this place which is too bad because the lunch special is such a good deal. read more
