It's not this particular shop, but it's Xfinity in general. They have a monopoly on Internet service so basically although they have the best service, they also have the very worst customer care or customer support. The bill will go up. When you call, you'll never get someone who speaks good enough English that they can actually understand what you're asking or do the research to figure out why your bill is going up or is in accurate. You have no recourse once they decide, you owe a certain amount of money because they are incapable of correcting billing errors. I understand because of the monopoly they have it will be difficult to find a different service, but if you do go with Xfinity just be forewarned that you are going to be paying more and more and more with zero way of protesting a bill and getting someone who can help or will help. I have had to purchase all new equipment as they say it's my equipment that is not good enough, strong enough, new enough. After the purchase of new modems and Netgear etc... I still have the same problems. Tons of buffering, 30 seconds to 175 seconds per page, dial-up wasn't that bad. Dropped calls daily on my google voice and dropped Zoom conferences. Not enough bandwidth for my presentations and I am not on their budget lowest plan. I'm losing so much business, I am forced to go back to Xfinity. So sad. read more

It frustrating when this service is the only one available to us. When they acquired Consolidated Communications, a late first billing was sent. As a result, we had already paid Consolidated for the upcoming billing cycle, yet Lightcurve still was expecting for us to make a payment to them without receiving or checking with the previous owner on that payment already being sent. I have made phone inquiries and via the website... And I have yet to receive a response much less resolution. After sending a second payment, they now owe us money! I have Rainier Connect at 2 properties (Tacoma and Fife) serving 7 tenants where I provide WIFI service included with the rents. I assumed Rainier Connect after a very disappointing handover from Advanced Stream, who I felt had much better customer service. The city of Tacoma has done a terrible job forcing the aggregation of providers and ripping off the public. What else is new? Rainier Connect regularly disconnects my internet service to my properties if I fall a few days behind. They even disconnected me after I paid them, and I had to file a formal complaint with the WA State Utilities and Transportation Commission. There is no ample disconnect warning and setting up autopay has been a major pain with them... they won't do it over the phone. In general I've had a very hard time dealing with them. Any savings over competitors simply is not worth it, and I want out as quickly as I can get out. I would warn you against doing business with this company and I am finally sitting down to look at their competitors. read more

I was with Rainier connect way back when they were still connect Corp. Since they've acquired consolidated communications I contacted them Monday morning and after explaining three times to the representative that I'd had my email address account with Rainier connect for several years but my internet and phone service was or has been with consolidated, was asking how to stop having to pay extra for the email address since they are all now one company. I explained this clearly three times but the representative did not understand what I was saying regardless. I kept asking for a customer service supervisor to no avail and finally she agreed to have one call me. That was Monday morning it is now Tuesday 11:00 p.m. and no one ever bothered to call me back to resolve this. Customer service is sadly lacking apparently! read more

I am a 10+ year customer of Click Cable. Rainer Connect has taken over and they are great. I am here to write about their customer service. I've had an issue with my box for almost two years. I didn't want to get a new box because I didn't want to lose a Documentary that is recorded on it. I explained this to the tech when I called when I had come to end of dealing with the issue. He looked up the documentary and found it for purchase on Amazon. I had not even thought of this. Thank you again Tony. The guy who delivered the box was also very great. (Didn't get his name). The only complaint I have.... they gave me a newer remote that does not have the skip ahead (similar to a fast forward) on the newer remote. UGH!!!!!! I HATE COMMERCIALS!!!! I record shows, never watch live...that's how much I hate commercials!!! I called today and said they still have the older ones....but have to call on Monday. Thanks Rainer Connect. You guys are awesome. Ps. Reading some of the other reviews after posting mine. 1. My review is not fake or paid for. I am a real life customer. And I am describing my personal experience. 2. Yes they took over for Click Cable. I too did not receive a bill for 6 months and it added up. I DID however, as I am sure all customers did, receive a letter during their take over explaining we would have to call in to change over our info and our payment info. I forgot about this until 6 months later and called and they were so great. My bad, not theirs. So to the one who is getting an attorney.... I feel for you. We had Rainier Connect since they started the company. I am very disappointed in this company. They are so out of touch with Customer Service as well as Customer Support. First of all let me tell you a bit about this company! We were told by Customer Service that they were going to make a transition to streaming this December. Recently all our televisions started acting up, with the little squares and half the channels that we are paying for doesn't work anymore and to top it off, I can't even watch my favorite Seattle Seahawks on any of my televisions. I recently called Customer Service & Support again due to missing my Sunday football because I couldn't get the channel working, and then they tell me, I'm sorry maybe it's because we're transitioning to streaming on October 17th. What a joke! Especially after they told me that it wasn't going to happen until December. I have decided that I will not tolerate this kind of abuse, especially when I pay top dollar. They could have at least waited until October 17th before the start of deleted signaling and scrambling. And they expect me to stay a dedicated customer! What a joke. We were CLICK customers from Day 1 and loved their service and especially liked their local subcontractors, Advanced Stream. I understand the reasons for CLICK going away and hated having to leave Advanced Stream. We wanted to stay local with our internet and TV provider and went to Rainier Connect, since they were the only option. Things started out a bit sluggish but that wasn't a surprise as they had a lot of new customers to deal with. Over time things improved. I have really never had an issue with the internet, and TV service was fine until we upgraded to a smart TV and opted to switch from the cable box to their streaming TV service. Things went downhill rapidly. The TV app takes forever to load, would freeze when viewing the guide, when watching a recording and other times for no reason. After a couple of months of trying deal with it, I was told that their app was not compatible with my new Sony Bravia TV and I needed a separate device, like a Firestick or Roku to work with the TV. This seemed a bit redundant with a smart TV but I couldn't argue and got the Firestick. Then I was told that my router wasn't up to par so I got a Google Mesh setup. Things improved a bit with each step but still had issues. Finally I was told a needed increase my speed. I thought great, this is finally working. Two weeks ago, out of the blue it all started again. Calling Tech Support has been a joke. The staff were friendly and seemed to care, but for the most part were clueless. If it went beyond disconnecting the modem and resetting it, the next response was "I need to elevate this issue to a higher level." Chuck, the holdover from Advanced Stream was the only member of the "higher level" who had a clue. After being told last week by a "Customer Support" person that the app worked great and it must be me, I'm leaving for Xfinity, which I have tried not to do... read more

Click was great - then city of "Tacoma public utilies" and the city council threw 40,000 residents/ click customers under the bus and sold us to the shit-bags at Rainier Connect. Service and reliability went down hill and now they are moving the cable tv to a streaming service that is internet based. My internet service in past week has degraded to loosing connection 4+ times a day due to modem connectivity issues with their server. They blame it on my equipment - tried another router , no help same issue. All I get for support is obviously just excuses for a known issue with their own equipment. At least for now I still have cable tv to rely on when the sporadic internet is down - when they try to impose the manditory switch to steaming tv that option will be gone - check elsewhere for internet and tv.... or you'll be sorry read more

I just have internet and I'm amazed at the level of service! I feel like I'm in the 90s with the download speeds. RC has screwed up my billing and when I discussed this with them they never made any comment about the following: when I moved into my condo, a 55+ place with HOA, and throughout any issues, RC didn't comment on the basic cable available at no charge to me through the HOA. I just received a disconnect notice after they bought out Click cable. They let 6 months of service go unpaid before reaching out. The best part is I have a rainier pacific account set up for Internet with my billing info already. Mistake after mistake after mistake was made with zero accountability. Having cable and internet though them is more expensive than leading competitors, and if you thought the customer service was bad at Comcast, Rainier Pacific will out do them by far. Their phone agents blatantly lie about having signed user agreements from you (they do not have any such document, nor can they provide a contract of service at your request), and a payment plan to pay off the 6 month overdue bill is only acceptable at a dollar amount of their choosing. At this point I'm contacting an attorney and finding out what my legal options are. Also going to disconnect their patchy internet service, and their cable service. Avoid. Called to put internet on vacation hold ($8 a month) since I'd be out of the area. Leading up to the start date I had problem after problem with my 100MB connection. I finally decided to turn off my service all together and get a new provider when I moved back. I called to let them know to turn off my internet, I was done on Friday 19 October. Friend goes by today (3 days after service should have been terminated) and the nets still on. Call Rainier who tells me they have 1) no record of me requesting to start vacation mode and 2) no record of me terminating my service. These are the people you're dealing with. You pay for what you get, or at least you think so until you realize this ISP constantly blips in and out of service at odd hours. The upload rate is absolutely sub-par for the course, and when you compare the pricing to other forms of internet... You quickly realize that this is by and far the absolute worst ISP in the area. If you care about things like stability, getting at least 50% of what you paid for or all around wanting internet. Look somewhere else. read more

So Rainier Connect is now Lightcurve, and made all customers change to streaming. I did this. They made it sound so easy, it was not. They did not let me know that my modem needed to be near the TV. So for two weeks I had no service after waiting for them to move it, which they charged $50 for, even though they chose the spot to install it years ago. My service still sucks. The tv will say it's lost connection all the time. Customer service said they'd credit me for the two weeks to move the modem. That did not happen, plus's they over charged me by not adjusting my bill to new service. So I called. They said they'd fix. Got 2nd new month bill, not only did they NOT credit me, they over charged me for the previous month I just paid for. So my $54 dollar bill was $162. Took 23 minutes on hold, and waited 3 hours for a call back for them to refund me. Their excuse was my service was changed during a 'billing freeze'. Bullcrap. So, I urge you to review your bill if you were forced to change service during the month of October for being charged for a pervious month you've already paid! read more

Day 4 no service Rainier Connect. Here's what I learned today. They are not keeping track of phones calls on the accounts. They have no way of telling that I have called in each day and they have no way of notating my account that I have called in each day. This is the 3rd ticket on my account and only the first time I've been given the number there is no way for them to track the tickets. So here are some fact... federal guidelines state: The cable operator must begin to correct other service problems the next business day after learning of them. They learned of the issues on Wednesday and every day since I have called. They have yet to begin to correct the problem. I have now filed complaint with FCC and Attorney General. read more

It's not very often that a company with such poor ratings gets a followup review but after a few days on Rainier Connect's new fiber network, I'm convinced that they might actually be trying to save their once sinking ship. Yes, their fiber network isn't very big right now and it took nearly 9 months from digging my yard up to having a working connection but it truly is a 1Gbps symmetrical line. My Internet problems have gone away and while I still pay about the same amount that I did for two cable lines, there's no unpleasant feeling of being ripped off. The installer they sent out was quick, cleaned up after himself and thoroughly understood the basics of Rainier Connect's fiber architecture. Rainier Connect may have become the best thing about living in Eatonville (which isn't saying much but since so much of our lives revolve around the Internet, I'll take it.) To all those still stuck on crummy cable connections here in Eatonville, stop putting up with it and call to have your fiber line activated. You might be surprised with finally having an Internet connection that firmly puts you back in 2017 and not 1997. **I have no opinion or ideas about their TV or phone service. No interest in having either of those products and despite Rainier Connect saying that the phone portion of your fiber service needs to be activated, it doesn't. You still have to pay the surcharge for phone service but it doesn't need to be installed. read more

We called customer service to submit a report. We promptly got a call back from tech support in which they rebooted the internet and said that they could find nothing wrong. I do not doubt the hard work that both customer service and tech support put into fixing our issues to the best of their ability. The experiences were so pleasant that I almost forgot about how terrible the internet is. But I can no longer take it. The internet is still shitty and I have come to the conclusion that it is not a tech support issue, but rather a deep-rooted issue in the very structure of the company of Rainer Connect. RC makes shitty products meant to suck the living souls out of their customers. We were customers of Advanced Stream prior to the merger. Our internet was by no means of racecar speed, but it was reliable and it always got the job done. The day that Rainer Connect assumed power of our internet is the day that our internet connection went to shit. We even upgraded our internet at the beginning of the switch because we thought why not, it's the beginning of quarantine and we are going to have to do a lot of things on our computers. I can confidently say, without any doubt from my soul, that giving Rainer Connect more money was the biggest financial waste of my life. I can't send emails. I can't receive emails. I can't attend zoom calls. I can't edit simple documents. I can't do my schoolwork. I can't do my job. I can't even watch guided meditations to calm down from the distress that shitty internet causes me. I don't even know what I want out of this contact because I will never in a million years give Rainer Connect more of my money. Here we go again. Less than two months ago, Rainer tried to blame my outage on my modem and router when they finally admitted that it was ultimately their responsibility. Today lost service and had to start the same process. No change in my equipment yet that was where they started even though they knew there were issues and had been trying to resolve. As before plenty of apologies but not resolution just delay. They have no supervisor on duty after 500 pm and tech support is in the Midwest with no direct understanding of local issues. Rainier is a joke when it comes to customer service and responsiveness. The only reason they can stay in business is that they are effectively a utility. I can't comment on this company's quality as an internet provider. My company's connection with them involves their co-location service. In a word, for this functionality, Rainier Connect is awful. We did not go with them by choice. They bought out the co-location service we'd been happily using, so, there we were, their captive. Immediately, the quality of service and care that we'd been enjoying diminished. When systems went down, it was often impossible to get competent and timely help. Worse still, much frustration with incompetent persons was what we often encountered instead. We were further frustrated by their billing system. Our company pays all its bills in full -- every bill for which a statement has arrived, and without exception -- twice each month (roughly on the 5th and on the 20th every month). With every other vendor we've ever had a relationship with, the time that's allowed between when they mail the monthly statement and when they consider payment past due is sufficient so that this twice-monthly paying schedule always gets payment there on time. Not with Rainier Connect. The time they allow is so stingy and tiny, unless dates happen to align perfectly, our otherwise timely payment was repeatedly deemed as untimely. We were assessed fees, pestered by telephone calls (which wrongly treated us like deadbeats), etc. Our final solution was to pay every month a month in advance. Thanks Rainier. Your outrageous billing system forced us into that. Then Rainier decided to give up its lease at the co-location facility where all of our equipment is housed (1.5 racks full). They gave a choice of two other facilities, both considerably more distant from us than this one. It's going cost us a bundle to make the move, and it's going to carry a high risk that, no matter how careful we are, there will be expensive and reputation-damaging down time. Is Rainier interested in doing anything to compensate for this? Not a thing. I asked. We're going to have a larger burden going forward, in regard to the driving distance and time when needing to go to the facility to upgrade and/or repair equipment. This will be particularly painful when there's an emergency, and every minute counts. Contemplating this move, Rainier repeatedly claimed falsely that we were wrongly using 1 full-rack plus 2 half-racks at the existing facility. We had to repeatedly correct them on this (each time it was as though prior correction had not occurred). Finally, we received notice today that, at the new facility, Rainier wants to invoke both a setup and monthly fee for two of the three cross-connects that are presently in place, in the old facility, between our full rack and half rack. So, basically, it's all the above, and now they want more money to boot. BTW, we are already paying Rainier Connect just shy of $1,500 per month, and this is the respect we get from them. Parting company after nearly ten years of service. After many years, I terminated my service with Rainier Connect today, and did so without even having a plan as to what I'd do for Internet Service (or with whom to connect). I was a happy customer of Harbor Net for years - when they went out of business, my account was absorbed by Rainier Connect. For YEARS since, I was one of those customers who complained the least, never paid late and RARELY even called or came in for service. In fact, I don't even know what my Rainier Connect Email address is / was, as I never used it. I was a "Set It and Forget It" customer. The service has been spotty for quite awhile now, with intermittent (usually short) outages. During the few times I did call Tech Support, they would run me through the routines of re-setting my router, etc. ... but they never really helped. I did get a very nice DOCSIS 3.0 Modem at a good price, several months back. This week, the outages began to get worse, longer, and (each time), with no idea as to how long before coming back up. Long periods without internet service, sometimes for several hours (or all night). When I called to ask for help, the "service" was very bad ... rude, condescending. When I asked about the process of Releasing my Modem and service ... they hung up on me in the middle of a sentence ... just like the Good Old Days of AOL - remember how hard it was to get help from them, once you decided you MIGHT be looking for other providers? The only way I could speak with them, was to go down to the office (and the "service" was just as poor). Somebody at Yelp must really love Rainier Connect for some reason, as I notice almost all of the negative reviews for them have been yanked "filtered"; so I don't know if this review will see the light of day. This was a tough decision and I still don't feel good about having terminated their service. For some reason Rainier Connect cannot get our email to work on Outlook, Thunderbird or Iphones. "Cannot send mail" is way too familiar. The Tech answer: use webmail. The setup information directly from Rainier Connect does not work. Windows 11 --utterly impossible. We rolled our PC's back to windows 10, we can receive but cannot send. read more

Like many others, I have had Rainier Connect so long that I had Harbornet. I cannot speak to their customer service, because in all the years I've been with them I have never had to call. So that's good in my book. I have also not experienced any of the connectivity issues that others have. I frequently rave about Rainier Connect because I have fewer issues with my Internet than pretty much anyone else I know. And whenever I price out other companies (ignoring whatever introductory 6 month deal they have because I don't really care), the price is still better. Again, I suppose if I have issues where I need to call their customer support and am unable to receive the assistance I need, I will change my opinion. But for now, the fact that I don't have to call them, and my Internet is a relatively inexpensive service that doesn't give me any issues that I have to deal with, makes me pretty happy with them. read more

Rainier Connect is a good company I've never had any problems until​ I try to pay my yearly bill. "Every year" I try to pay online​ and I get a 404 page ​or I can't​ get through. I call customer​​ service and they say to pay over the phone using​ the automated phone line. I call the automated number and enter my credit card number and the auto readback is​ not​ what I entered. I call customer service and she says I entered it wrong. I entered it several​ times and the readback​ isn't​ even close to my CC number. I don't​ have any options. There's nothing I can do to pay my bill so I'm switching companies. read more
