I have had Rainier Connect ever since Harbor Net went out of business (5 years?) and always enjoyed good and reliable service, although there are rare outages, but as far as I know, it's not uncommon for any internet provider to have an outage on occasion. I went to their office in Tacoma to purchase a new modem, as my previous modem was over ten years old, and obsolete. They told me that they were out of their modems, so just as I was leaving, another employee came out from the back room and told me that there were more new modems in another location, and that they could have one delivered in about 10 minutes, so I waited, and I was able to get a new modem in less than that. I was even given a discount for waiting, which I didn't even ask for! This latest event is just another affirmation of my support for Rainier Connect. Their customer service is excellent, and their rates are very competitive. I would never, ever do business with Comcast, so I am fortunate that there is another alternative to the big, corporate mess that is Comcast. Thanks Rainier Connect! read more

If I could give them a zero I would. They bought out Click Cable TV. I canceled my Click cable tv. When you cancel they pick up your boxes. You can't take them anywhere. I tried for a year and a half to get my boxes picked up. Rainier Connect claims they don't have access to Click's notes so they can't see where I called. I end up in collections with a $1000 bill for boxes I can't use. Spoke with Tekla the mangaer who needs to get a different job because she is rude and has zero customer service skills. With a nasty attitude like hers Tekla has no businness being in a management position. According to her I should have still kept calling even while on my death bed with covid and pneumonia not able to breathe. Now stupid Rainier Connect just sued me for $1500 for boxes they refused to pick up and I can't use. They lied and said I never contacted them. Highly pissed off. I will NEVER do business with them again and I been telling everyone I know not to ever do business with them. They shouldn't even be allowed to be in business ripping people off. read more

I have called numerous times and sent multiple messages to check on a new service request that has lingered for 24 days. No one has been able to look into it nor offer any status. They keep telling me to wait until someone calls back but are not sure if my requests even made it through. At first they said two week wait time, and now they are saying 4-5 weeks. read more

I am extremely happy with the new fiber optics we had installed a few months ago. If you get the Net Gear Night Hawk it will work amazingly. Rainier connects phone service is very pricey for not including long distance. I'm not happy with the fact that they charge long distance for an area code as simple as calling from 360 to 253. Anything Nationwide should be free since they charge just as much as Comcast and Comcast doesn't charge extra for limited long distance, they include unlimited in their price. They need to improve the phone package prices for home phones, especially in this present time, it's 2018 Rainier Connect! Get with the times! read more

This company is not up to expectations for the price. I have lost or have had my wifi service just drop on a daily basis. Some days the internet works great but MOST days I have a service interuption at least 3 -4 times (daily). The billing has been ALL OVER THE PLACE. Saying I was on a "promotion" price when I never agreed to such a "promotion". I am so fed up with the lack of connection, customer service and tech support that I would rather deal with someone else. NOT WORTH IT to deal with this shady company. read more

We've had issues since day one when RC took over for Advanced Stream. Never had issues with them. I understand things happen but we haven't been dealt with honestly. I called again when buffering became so bad it was impossible to watch any movie. I didn't want to but I called. We went through all the speed tests. They agreed to send a tech out. In fact he called a couple hours later. I was busy. I called him back. Customer service took over.... The tech wanted to make an appointment. That never happened. They said they would call back. Never got the call. I called back and the Customer Service person said they closed the order as if the issues had been resolved. I called again and left a message after listening to their lovely recording telling me how much they appreciated me twenty six times. Now I'm being ignored. After being lied to. And I am paying for something that doesn't work. But that doesn't really concern Rainier Connect. I have never been treated so poorly by a company. Go with Cletus's Internet. read more

I give them 2 stars. I live in an area served by their cable internet offering. My experience hasn't been as bad as many reviews on here, but I'm guessing many of them are DSL with the relatively low advertised speeds. DSL is subject to a lot of fluctuation and more line issues due limitations inherent with phone lines so I'd guess that's a likely cause of many of the complaints about speeds. My plan is 55/20 for $34.95 out the door, which is a fantastic price. My frustration is with the wide variance in speeds I experience. During good times I see up to 70mbps down, but during busy/peak times (such as 6-9PM-ish when everyone's home and likely streaming videos) the speeds are absolutely terrible, often I see 4mbps down. This indicates there are serious issues with the architecture of their system, such as a massively overloaded network segment, physical line issues, or very oversubscribed links. I'm guessing it's at least partly due to oversubscription, I did some quick searching and I'm only seeing 2 local peering points (where Rainier Connect's system actually connects with the rest of the Internet) and only see 2 10gbps links. If that's really all the upstream bandwidth they have they're waaay oversubscribed and would explain the huge speed drops during peak times. I also see super high latency during these times as well, normally I see about 15ms latency to local servers, but during peak times up to 400ms. Again, a symptom of traffic contention and queueing on their side. I live in a neighborhood slated to get fiber service (hopefully sometime soon, seems they do a lot more talking about it than delivering it). I'm very concerned by the issues I'm seeing now that fiber could be an even bigger problem. If they don't seriously augment their uplinks it's going to be a disaster. If they give thousands of people gigabit connections that are only backed by 20gbps of actual throughput to the Internet, it's not going to be good and will be much worse than present. If they continue their current practices and maintain similar oversubscription ratios, they'll maintain about the same level of issues they currently have. In a perfect scenario, they'd vastly increase their upstream bandwidth and we'd all have at least a few hundred mbps of bandwidth available even during peak times. That would be awesome. However their prices are pretty low so I'm not entirely surprised by the commensurate issues people are having. So I'm not entirely unsatisfied by the performance per dollar I spend, when I had Comcast I had awesome and consistent speeds, but the cost was triple what I'm paying Rainier Connect. So, I suppose I'm getting about the same proportionate level of value here, I pay about a third the price and feel like I get a third of the performance. It's just too bad it's not better. I know they've been busy expanding and rolling out things like fiber and trying to expand and as a small business are experiencing some growing pains. I hope this improves in time. The couple of times I've needed to call customer service, they've been polite but not particularly knowledgeable. I work in IT and so have performed all the troubleshooting on my side (powercycle equipment, verify network config, etc) and am on to the higher level stuff by the time I call. The people I've talked to there are what I'd consider Tier 1, the front line, low level customer support people, typically the type that read down predefined scripts and troubleshooting guides and get stumped if their canned process doesn't fix your issue. I don't know if they have any Tier 2 or Tier 3 people. One person I talked to said he would check with an engineer and get back to me on something but never contacted my afterwards and I didn't feel like wasting my time pursuing it. So in a word, I'd say my experience and satisfaction is "average". For those that are looking for a low cost connection, they're a good way to go. If you want great performance and reliability, you might want to go elsewhere. read more

I've been on the phone with tech support waaaay to many times and too long each time, trying to trouble shoot the ongoing problems with slow or no service, dropped calls with my digital phone service, email messages that don't reach me, it never occurred to me that the problem could be THEM. The other day I received a card from them with a hand-written message, thanking me for being a long-time customer and letting me know they increased my Internet speed without charging me for it. My husband and I have been loyal customers for 20 years, same phone number same account for 20 years. Paid all our bills on time. Tonight they disconnected our service apparently there was a billing problem but they didn't have our correct phone number , they are run so poorly they can't keep tract of our phone number so just disconnected without talking to us.. Then they wanted to charge us to reconnect, OMG, horrible customer service . We dug out all our receipts guess what the damn thing was paid in full not our mistake. Use to be good company sucks big time now. Look at their Google reviews speaks volumes, horrible way to run a company. Remember our phone has been the same for 20 years!!! we contacted them this summer due to horrible picture the guy said it was due to bees really well its winter and the picture is still bad more bees, ha ha yeah right. 8/08/2017 Update, have had tech support out twice last few months, second time today, Young man was great as was the tech earlier, so hopeful that things are going to go better. I don't usually write reviews, but in this case I felt compelled to. When it works, the Internet service provided by Rainier Connect is actually pretty decent. It's fast. This is where my chief issue lies, however: "when it works". Unexpected outages, sometimes lasting for hours, occur during the most inopportune times. This is usually once every week or two. Last night, for example, a 15-30 minute expected service outage turned into six hours of downtime. That this would happen was not in any way communicated to me. Other times, the service will remain up in a technical sense, but be largely unusable due to severe latency spikes. I do IT work professionally, and from what I see, RC falls short in three critical areas: 1. Expected service uptime is not met. In 2016, it's simply not acceptable for an ISP to be down hours and hours each month. This isn't 1995... people don't put up with AOL-type service any more. 2. Service failures are not communicated effectively to the customer. The only way to find out if there is a disruption is to step through a tech support call. No emails, and usually not even a website message. Even an automated outage message when you call in would go a long way. 3. If there has to be a downtime, it should be held during the least impactful time slot. Midnight is not a suitable time for many people, for example. In short, for almost $100 a month, I do not feel like I'm getting the service I am paying for, and am deeply considering another provider. read more

After being with Rainier Connect for 8 years, I called to cancel my old internet service. For the past roughly 2 years my internet has become increasingly slow, often dropping out completely for hours at a time. I have called (can never get ahold of a human, just recordings) and emailed (IF I get a callback it's never during the hours I've told them I'm available), asking for either information on upgrading or a service call to troubleshoot. Can't get any help. Rep asked why I was cancelling, so I explained that I telecommute, and can't have my service slowing/failing. Told her I had contacted them repeatedly asking for help and gotten zero response. She asked how many devices were running on the wifi. Told her my work hours, and that it was just me. One computer. She kept trying to rationalize and blame MY usage for the problem, then tried to sell me a higher speed and new modem (too little, too late). Of note, until 2012 there were three people using the connection, with streaming downloads, and it didn't slow or drop. Please explain to me again how my single computer running Google and an audio file download is too much? Worst customer service on the planet, unreliable connection, zero tech support. Save yourself the stress and go with a different provider. read more

The fact that I have to give them one star irritates me to the point where I want to slide face first down a cheese grader into a pool of goat piss. The service and the service are absolutely horrible. I was supposed to get 12 megabytes or "up too" as they like to point out, and I received about .06 of that, but hey and I quote "Its within range, and it says up to so you will not always get 12 Mbps." What the lady really meant to say was that you NEVER get the speed you pay for, just a range they find acceptable to give you, which is from 0. DO NOT pay for 12 Mbps in outlying Eatonville because you will not get it, and they will tell you the max you can get is 10 Mbps or less depending on where you live. They 12Mbps is completely unattainable so do not waste your money. In fact do not waste your money on these people anyway. Avoid at absolutely all costs. I called them a problem that I had last weekend for which I called tech support and tech support did something to it that made it work correctly. Although I still only got about 8Mbps but hey when you have the flu some penicillin is better than a kick in the nuts right? So I asked for them to make it right on my bill as I think if I were to pay them on 1/65th of my bill and use the excuse that,"Well I will pay up to 100% of my bill" They would have me in collections before the phone call was over. And then the fiasco only got worse. The lady told me to talk to tech support which I had, but had to again for some reason only to verify my own story and so that tech support could verify their story and that I was indeed getting the shaft, the whole shaft. Then I called back and the customer service rep tells me she has to talk to the tech to verify that I verified that he verified that I verified the issue he verified. It was a complete waste of time, the only to tell me that there was nothing they could do, but I should keep sending them money. How about I don't? They lost a customer today and now I go onward and upward to every site you can leave a review like a jaded ex, and make sure that I dissuade as many customers from going to them as humanly possible, and that the Eatonville office is like watching elephants ride unicycles, good business practices are the unicycle they are the elephant, and they just demolish good business practice. read more

I have had trouble with Rainer connect ever since it was connected. It will work for 24hours at a time Then I have to power down the modem to get Internet back. I have talked to customer service, tech support, brought my modem to them at Eatonville office and I still can't get consistent service . I have also tried to replace my wireless router in my house, run new phone line and still the Internet consistently will not work. All customer service will tell you is it looks like it functioning right to them. I would cancel my service in a heart beat if a different option was available but there is not. They are overwhelmed with the increase in customers when Net-Venture and Rainier Connect merged. For some reason the customers are supposed to contact them to let them know there is a problem. I am so upset at the loss in customer service. My phone has been having problems for a long time. They had the wrong phone number and then tried to contact me at that wrong number. I see the awful reviews for Rainier Connect on here, but I wanted to drop it and show some support for this ISP. We've been using this ISP for three years in three separate places in Tacoma (central & north) without many issues. I've been a customer of Comcast in the past and haven't noticed any difference in service (dropping, etc). There IS a difference on PRICE and customer service, for sure. Every single person we've talked to at Rainier Connect over the last three years has been friendly, helpful, and efficient. The price is unbeatable. Perhaps we're lucky because we're in the heart of Tacoma, but we do not plan to switch service. This is a great alternative to Comcast. read more

I had service through Net Venture for over 10 years and never had a problem. However, that is not the case today. Since Net Venture was acquired by Rainier Connect I've had nothing but problems. I've called customer service multiple times and they just say "things look good at our end, have you tried rebooting the modem or unplugging the router". Several times a day (lately several times an hour) the service just drops out and I'm left with no connection at all. The modem was purchased from Net Venture in the last year and the Router is less than 3 months old. The problem is the signal. When all the lights go off on the Modem it means I have NO SIGNAL. This is getting nuts. I need a new company. I called Click and they suggested Advance Stream. Perhaps after more than a decade of being with these guys it's time to move on? read more

I would suggest staying away - 90% of the time there's no internet - for example today it's been out 3-4 hours. During the week it'll drop randomly during the day and be out for a while, and at around 6pm it might be out until 10pm. When it works, upload speeds are extremely slow. We'll no longer be using them after the end of this month. Customer service is only available during the week. read more

ZERO STARS FOR EMPLOYEE TREATMENT... I (luckily) don't have to deal with this company. The way they treat their employees is disgraceful. One of their employees got extremely sick with a ruptured appendix, had emergency surgery to clean the infection out of his abdominal cavity. The doctors told his family that if they would've waited a couple of days they would of lost him. During recovery he spiked a fever and went to the emergency room. The infection was back so Providence in Centralia transported him to St. Peter's hospital for the specialized care he needed. Still in the hospital (he is on his 6th day there), his boss called him and fired him for missing to many days. So now he will lose his insurance.. And we wonder what in the hell is wrong with America these days. It's people and companies like this... Way to go Rainier Connect, you suck!!! read more

Just moved to the area, have been using Rainier Connect through the Click Network for about a month now, overall very pleased. Ordering: Very nice people, very courteous, though at first they couldn't find my building in the database -- might have been me though. Modem price was reasonable ($16 I believe), or you can use your own DOCSIS2.0 compatible modem. Not sure if it supports 3.0, but I don't really care. Set-up: Little frustrating here as I work 8-5 and they only have setups during these hours. But, they were prompt when they did arrive, and set up took less than half an hour. Did have to call though to get the MAC registration pushed through for the modem, but once it was registered, perfect connection. Initial Impressions: I signed up for the Gamer package, their mid-way 12 mbps down/~1 mbps up offer with "bursts" up to 15 mbps. Haven't so much seen the bursts, but the downstream has been constant on services. No complaints except that I wish I could afford better speeds (and that better speeds were offered). Price is about right though compared to other services. Longerish impressions: Online payments available, courteous staff, stable connection, no downtimes as of yet. So far extremely pleased. I'm glad that they offer decent pricing without the need for bundles, though looking at their offerings, the prices for TV don't seem too bad. Like most ISPs, they've locked in on a 250 GB/month cap, though I've yet to hit it with fairly heavy usage (Bit Torrent, HTTP downloads, streaming). Heavy Netflix users might find themselves at the mercy of streams, but IIRC from the user agreement, the overage policy isn't too terrible. I'd give them a recommendation. read more

Then charge me 10 bucks to restart account. The only reason we have these guys s because wife wants to support click. Do yourself a favor and avoid. I am going to advanced stream asap. read more

This company is horrible! I accquired service in Spanaway over 10 yrs ago. It was the only service available other then Comcast. I was looking for a lower rate then Comcast. I had their service very briefly. My interenet connection was always going out and I was having issues with not being able to make long distant phone calls. I called for technical help several times and had a technician come out to swap the modem. Problem continued so I cancelled my service. I turned in my equipment and they continued to charge me for an additional month of service. I refused to pay the closing bill. They sent this $240 balance to collections. I'm now selling my home and apparently they put a lien on my home. $1000 of interest SMH! Rainier Connect did not provide me adequate service and were not able to fix the issues but boy are they adequate about sending you to collections. A collection company I might add that stays very quiet and I can only recall receiving a couple of recorded messages from them that seemed like scams so I didn't reply. Then they put a lien on your home. I never was made aware of the lien until just now since my home has sold. This should have never been sent to collections in the first place. A company should stand behind their quality of service and customer satisfaction!!! read more

This is the worst customer service I have EVER received from any company ever. In the overtaking of the Click! Network they bullied Advanced Stream out of the market, and even tried undercutting the lowest cable bill before they essentially cut them off. As a loyal customer to Advanced Stream for over a decade, I tried to stay with the this reputable small business until the end. I have to say, Advanced Stream severely dropped the ball during this transfer of service, however, and greatly impacted their entire customer base. In true fashion though, from what I can interpret from their customer service so far, Rainier Connect is not worth considering as an alternative to other providers. I dare say I will deal with Xfinity hell before I support this company. I called at open of business the day I heard my Advanced Stream account was cut off, hoping to keep the low rate I was offered by Advanced Stream of $45 a month for 100 gb service. I was added to a list by the Tech Support, and told I would receive a call back. Then, over the course of two months I received emails stating that I needed to contact them to transfer service, but if I had already, not to keep trying, and that I would receive a call. Low and behold I receive an email in June saying they had contacted everyone already, and I needed to call again. I called, again contacting tech support only, and had my name added again to the list. I also filled out a "contact me form" on their website attempting to have someone call me while I was on the phone with tech support. A couple of weeks later, I received a bill for services I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR. I called once again, only to get Tech Support and my name added to another list. Still no phone call back. After 6 attempts at calling over several months, I FINALLY got ahold of customer service. They essentially told me that they couldn't offer that introductory rate because it expired. I was told I had to pay the more expensive rate simply because THEY COULD NOT CALL ME BACK. I spoke to a manager, who was going to look into if she could work something out, and I agreed that she could call me back. Yet another week later, and I still hadn't heard from the manager. So I call again - get to Tech Support once again, who finally transfers me to customer service. The customer service rep says, I have asked my manager, and she has said I have to handle this call and my manager can't do anything about it. Either pay the bill, or I will cancel your service today. Well thanks a ton! I am working from home. I have to have service. I have been diligently attempting to sign up for service for almost four months, and am insanely irritated with the lack of ability or willingness to be a good business and honor the rates I had previously, which were dictated by your own company! Your failure to accommodate this transition and fairness to your customers is noted. I hope you enjoy the $100 you made as I cancel my service as soon as I can get signed up LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE. read more

Really bad service. Our WiFi has not been able to stay on for a long period of time. Called Rainer, and they told us to come into the store and buy a new router. We did, and there was still no difference. So they sent somebody out, and he messed around with the wires. Eventually he told us that there was nothing he could do. That's when we noticed that the WiFi service had gotten even worse. It would only stay on for about 5 minutes at a time. Other times, it would not turn on at all. Some of the worst internet service we have ever had. read more

I must agree with the other reviewers who basically say Rainier Connect sucks! I had Net-venture for years with no problems. Ever since they switched to RC the internet goes down on an almost-daily basis. I might've thought it was an issue with my equipment but no...after reading of other people having similar issues, and since the problems started right after they switched....it's the ISP. I also have trouble logging onto their website even when I KNOW I'm using the correct password! Take heed RC, because I'm going to look into switching to a more reliable ISP. read more

Dropped or Slow Pings- The problem is the number of times the Internet either drops for a few minutes is more frequent. I work from home and my customer pay the price as well. So Rainier has not only failed me but my customer too. I often just turn to my iPhone hotspot which works always is is so much faster. Rainier said I have a Patch cable issue and the front desk said to come on in (but wait a minute). Then the manager said no, we don't have those, just go buy one at WallMart. He then said he as had 18 patch cables fail over the last few years ... the fail all the time. That is not likely in my book. I have been at net-venture since 1999 (16 years) you think a $3.99 cable and customer satisfaction would mean something. They couldn't wait to get me on the phone. That's the truth. I hope the city decides soon what is going to happen with Click!. Comcast Might be the worst but I am not looking for a friend in an ISP. Which by the way is supposed to be set up for auto pay every month. Needless to say the first few months they couldn't get it right and of course I wind up paying late fees because of their inadequacies. It seemed to be ok for a time until June of 2016 came home my cable was off called they claimed because of non payment. I was like WTF so I go down to their office and the receptionist says yes you are setup for auto pay. It just didn't go through for some reason. Today just received an email from them saying I am overdue again with another late fee attached to it of course. As of today I have signed up with Advanced stream. read more

my brother died and the nursing home couldn't get Rainier Connect to DISconnect his service. They said they had to have a copy of the Death Certificate. Being next of kin and an authorized user on the account, I called and was TOLD THE SAME THING by both the rep and the supervisor! I let them know I would not be providing a death certificate to cancel the service. They finally agreed to "let it go." The amazing thing was, I, as an authorized user, could ADD to the service any time. And the nursing home said they disconnect service ALL THE TIME.
