5 star location 3.5 star food 4 star service 1 star sanitary Managers for lighthouse need to do something about the flies in the restaurant. I was there around 10am today and notice couple flies around the table then when I really paid attention, I saw a lot of flies, I mean a lot. Each section of their window had 2-5 flies sitting at the window edge. Once our food arrived, because we had a seafood omelette, the flies kept coming to us and it became hazardous. We quickly finished our meal and had no interest to stay and enjoy the view anymore even though we were seated at a nice table next to the windows.
Beautiful setting for the restaurant at New Port Bay area. Lots of boats, lots of tourists playing on the Sandy Beach. The food was magnificent. The waiter Carlos was excellent. We enjoyed everything about our adventure here.
First visit. Picked something close to the beach and hotel since we were driving in from Vegas. Menu looked good when I looked at it prior and it was on the water. We checked in at the front desk and asked about the parking. She said we would have to pay to park. I'm like ok? Shouldn't it be waved if we are eating here. No. I had to walk back out and pay for the parking. We were starving so just did it. Service was slow! Took a while to get our food and drinks. View was nice on the water but we will not return due to the flies. Disgusting! They were everywhere! Kept landing in the food and buzzing around everywhere. I made a comment to a person on the staff and they laughed like oh I know they are bad. Food was ok. Artichokes were my fav. The steak was very small that comes with the steak and eggs.
Lighthouse has an amazing location with beautiful ocean views. The beach is right there to enjoy, and there's a park nearby, making it a great spot to relax before or after your meal. I was mildly disappointed with a few things, though. The lobster roll was delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The chips were just okay. My latte, unfortunately, was one of the worst I've had... it tasted like milk with just a splash of coffee. The staff was very kind and happily replaced it with an Americano, which was much better. One inconvenience was the restroom situation. The closest bathrooms were by the lighthouse, which is a bit of a walk. I only wanted to rinse the lobster off my fingers, so I ended up using a glass of water outside instead. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the food had some strong points, but the disappointing coffee and lack of convenient restrooms kept this from being a higher-rated experience. I would give it a 3.5 star but since its not allowed, the experience was pleasant enough for a 4. Prices were decent id say
The restaurant is located by the water and actually looks like a lighthouse. It's cute. The interior is smaller than I thought but since it's a lighthouse it's shaped round. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I think it may be popular as a brunch spot. We had reservations for 11:30am and it was bustling. By noon the crowd seemed to have dispersed. Everything on the menu looked good so we ended up ordering literally a table full of food - 2 types of mimosas (tropical paradise and elderflower guava), calamari, clam chowder, beignets, steak (holy cow), lobster roll and mahi mahi tacos. Of the mimosas we liked the guava best. Holy cow was one of our favorites but really everything was delicious. Staff was pleasant, just in the beginning we had to wait quite some time for someone to take our order. We had made reservations with a note that we were celebrating our anniversary but they don't acknowledge celebrations I guess so if you are wanting something special at the restaurant perhaps not this place.
Made reservations through Yelp for 7 people, indoor seating. We arrived and checked in at the front--the host sat us down immediately. It was a weekday brunch/lunch hours, so the restaurant wasn't too packed. Food came out relatively fast! Only complaint-- Everyone got their food at the same time except one person. Their Lobster roll took a long time. By the time we had server check, the rest of party was finishing up their food. I gave one of my mahi tacos, so my friend didn't have to sit awkwardly while we all ate. Guests ordered: Calamari appetizer- crispy, but soft to chew. Flavorful and not heavy batter. Wasn't overcooked and everyone enjoyed it with the sauce it came with. Elderflower Guava mimosa-- refreshing and tastes tropical and light. Guava taste is apparent if you like guava. Something diff if you want to change it up in flavor! Sorry didn't take pic of that. Lobster roll-- Actually really fresh and decent amount of lobster meat given. The bun was a brioche type bun, slightly toasted. Overall, good, but not sure it was worth that long of a wait for it. It came out late, so I wasn't about to take pic of it knowing my friend is starving. Haha Ahi Sandwich--- came with some fries and side salad. Tuna was seared perfectly and not overcooked. Well seasoned too. Bun was slightly toasted. Dressing on salad was a light vinaigrette. Salad looked clean and bright in color. Mahi Mahi--- the corn tortillas must be fresh, because it's soft and thick and elevates the whole dish. If you like spicy, this definitely has a nice kick to it with the seasoning and sauce. Loved it! Fish and Chips-- was good. Crispy and fish not overcooked. Fries are fries anywhere. lol Clam Chowder-- not too salty in comparison to other places. Decent amount of clams. Has a creamy texture, not too thick and not too watery. Nothing irks me more when it's full of potatoes. This had the right amount of potatoes and clams. Lemon Blueberry Pancakes-- Nailed it! Felt like eating dessert! If you love blueberries, this one is for you. Didn't taste a lot of lemon flavors, but it's probably mixed in there somewhere with the syrup and probably lemon zest. Chicken and Waffles--- Chicken was seasoned well and has a nice crunch to it. Not enough chicken in my opinion. Chicken piece looked small in comparison to two thick slabs of waffles. It was good, but wouldn't get it again. If you've had chicken and waffles in Long Beach, IYKYK. Wonderful view of Marina as usual. Our server was super nice and efficient. She had a calm and friendly demeanor about her. She saw we were trying to take pics and offered to take a a few of our table. How thoughtful. It's the small things that matter the most. Details, details! Overall, we had a pleasant time. Thank you!
Make reservations for outdoor seating! You'll have a beautiful view of the water. I got the lobster roll and it was delicious and buttery. The lemon blueberry pancakes were shared amongst my table and we devoured them. If I come back, I'd definitely order the lobster roll again!!
This is my second time eating here and unfortunately this time was more of a let down. We had a reservation got sat waited a bit longer then normal for someone to come over a take our order they were pretty busy so that's understandable. Our server was very kind a up beat so no dings on her the part. that let us down was how slow the bar and kitchen times were. We got the beignets as an appetizer which surprisingly came out quickly, but then we waited another 15 minutes after we had gotten the beignets for our drinks..... not ideal. Then we ordered our food and that took painfully long as well. We sat with empty water and empty drinks was very hard to flag someone down to get a second round of bar drinks. After the long waited food to come three of the dishes were cold and not just like maybe had been sitting out for five like minutes like they clearly had been sitting out for awhile. The dishes that was cold were clam chowder, french toast and fish and chips. I wish my party could have good feed back for at least the flavor of their food but they were very off put by their dishes being cold. Good points would be the presentation of the food is very well put together. And when our server was around, she always had a smile on her face and good attitude. Food that we could rate was My dish: steak chilaquiles (gluten free) 8/10 very flavorful eggs cooked perfectly The seared Aji sandwich: - 8/10 bun was toasted flavor was good and fresh cooked beautifully Fried chicken and waffles: - 5/10 nothing to write home about seemed very classic waffles were a bit underdone Beignets: 10/10 very light and airy not too sweet and the sauce was super good. Topped with cinnamon sugar Cocktails Wiser and elder - gin, vodka, st. Germain, lemon and basil / 9/10 soooo good very well balanced Strawberry mojito - very refreshing 8/10 Some notes, service was good the servers can only do so much when they aren't properly staffed or ticket times are running behind. Only point I would make is it better to be present during those times and checking in on your tables rather then trying to avoid the tables that are waiting on somthing you (the sever ) cant provide your self. The restaurant is a gorgeous setting very yacht club vibes. Not as many gluten free options which I knew going in which is okay for me and the menu is well labeled. Overall a bit disappointing having had a good prior experience hopefully they can work on trying to time their seating with kitchen and bar ticket times. I do think the reason people keep coming back here is the ambiance and setting of the restaurant you really can't beat it it very cute and have a great view of the water
Came here for a friend's birthday and had such a great experience! All of the staff were so nice and friendly, and they answered any questions we had about the menu. I tried the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I wasn't sure if it came with a side or if I had to ask for one, but either way, the meal was really good. The only small thing was that the syrup was a little too sweet for me, but honestly that might just be a me thing. The scenery was beautiful and the ocean view made the experience even better. The staff also brought out small beignets for the birthday girl, which was such a sweet gesture. I would 100% come back!
45 minute-wait on a Saturday which wasn't bad. We requested to sit outside but unfortunately the table had one seat right in the sun. We asked if we could move to a shaded table and were told no, even though there were open tables. I felt ill from the sun so I was waiting outside of patio in the shade until the server came. I guess my boyfriend asked again and they kept sending employees to the table and after about three people moved us. After that the server was nice. Food and drink were mediocre (lobster roll and lava flow). Nice view of the ocean and sailboats. Additional notes: no room for stroller on patio so you have to leave it outside of restaurant. Public restroom not attached to restaurant. Paid parking lot out front. Park for kids very close by.
This restaurant was really pretty, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy both the view and my meal. I made a reservation on a weekday evening, however, it would have been fine to just walk in since it wasn't that busy. Parking was a bit difficult to find and you have to pay to park in the lot. Service was good, and my server was able to squeeze in an order from the happy hour menu before it ended. I started with the lobster sliders, a cup of clam chowder, and a blood orange cosmo. All three items hit the spot. The lobster sliders, although small, had a good amount of lobster piled on and were good just dipped in butter. The fries were also nicely crispy and paired well with dipping in the clam chowder, which I really liked. The blood orange cosmo was on the sweeter side but was good. This "linner" was my first meal of the day so I also got the pan-seared salmon off the dinner menu. I thought it was fine. Next time, I'd probably stick to trying more items off of the happy hour menu.
Our family went to the lighthouse with the whole family, in-laws, aunts, and cousins Had an absolutely wonderful brunch here, everything was perfect from start to finish. We ordered a little bit of everything, from waffles and pancakes to eggs, and every dish was fantastic. What really made the experience special was our server, Mary. She is one of the nicest, sweetest people I've ever met. We ended up talking about our shared love of bourbon and whiskey, and she recommended her bourbon margarita... and wow, it was incredible. If you go, make sure to say hi to Mary and ask about her bourbon margarita. She truly made our brunch unforgettable and deserves a big raise!
Great location and great service. Our party of 9 dined in for brunch to end a bachelorette trip, and I'm glad we did! I made reservations a few weeks in advance, and they were able to seat us right in the middle of the lighthouse. Beautiful! The food was so good! We would definitely recommend the dishes pictured in this review. Also, if your party will be drinking, the mimosa pitchers were very worth it.

My father-in-law and I went for breakfast and it was very good. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The service was very good and it was pleasant sitting a looking out at the channel. The music they played was nice for a morning breakfast. It is a lively atmosphere but not too noisy. Overall, breakfast was very good. The cinnamon beignets were delicious! Our entrees were very good as well. read more

The Lighthouse is delicious and has a fantastic view! The staff is super nice and attentive. We went on a windy day and initially sat outside, but it got too cold -- they had outdoor warmers and even offered blankets, which was such a thoughtful touch. I love this place and highly recommend it! read more

The food, the view, the service, the people, the vibe can't go wrong at the beach right? I had a great start To my morning. Lighthouse Cafe, it gets crowded so we came at about 8 am. Walked across the street with a nice walk on the beach, couple hours parking is about $5. I'm going back for more pics and more information about the menu. But to be honest, some places you want to keep for yourself and this is one of those gems! read more

We had an amazing experience thanks to our server Tyla. From the moment we were seated, she was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. She knew the menu inside and out, made excellent recommendations, and timed everything perfectly without ever making us feel rushed. Our chilaquiles were delicious and very authentic. Service like this is rare, and she is a true asset to the restaurant. We'll definitely be back and hope to be seated in her section again. read more

It's always a treat and pleasure to stop by here at one of my personal favorite spots in beautiful Newport Beach. Located right along the sandy beach and marina, not only do you get breathtaking views but also bottomless mimosas, drinks, and bites which are always delightful. I absolutely love the burgers and chowder here! The service is always awesome too as the staff is super attentive and caring. read more
Came to this beachside restaurant for brunch and made a reservation via Yelp. We sat inside but we're still able to see the ocean. Beignet (5/5): Don't forget to check in on Yelp for a free order. I thought this was as the perfect snack. I was very fluffy. and crispy. The sweet condensed milk and cinnamon made me feel like a kid again. Such a cute place right by the water! Went here over the weekend with my friend and enjoyed patio seating. My favorite item was the Mini Tuna Tostadas they were fresh and the avocado was perfect ripeness. Service was excellent the waiter was super kind and quick to accommodate. The wait was long, but the Yelp waitlist reduced that. So definitely would recommend that or reservations. The food was good, but not my favorite (aside from the mini tostadas) The lobster roll was a bit dry and I have had better and the lobster mac was good, but nothing particularly extraordinary. Will come back to try more of the menu items because of the location I would like to see it at night :) read more

What an experience! This is our new spot for breakfast/ brunch. We weee able to walk in Monday morning with a reservation and kinda surprised that there were already a good group of people. Our servers Wendy and Carlo were simply amazing. Very attentive and both were able to help with a birthday ice cream that early! Drinks were very good but a HIDDEN GEM were the beignets! So delicious and 100% better than Disneyland! Chilaquiles were on point with flavor BUT personally my steak was a little over well done, I wish they would have asked the level of doneness for the steak but the flavor made up for it. I'm looking forward to being back and also trying their happy hour menu. read more

Thank you so much to the manager Andrew, the hostess Lexi, and our server Christen. What a great team they are! Incredibly hospitable, so kind and eager to help when i was in need of their assistance. We came straight off a cruise ship and had their ahi tacos which are perfectly dressed and sized. We shared the artichokes, you HAVE to try the dips that come with it and two cups of tomato bisque. I wish i would have taken a picture cause the soups come with the CUTEST little grilled cheese bites on top. Thank you for making my mom's birthday so special and adding sprinkles to the tastiest beignets. 5 Stars to everyone and everything here. Can't wait to come back read more
Returned only because the owner recommended the lobster rolls mentioned they were the best in Newport Beach. The first time we were there deserved 5 stars service and food were amazing. However once we returned service and food was horrible. We sat inside and we got seated next to a table where approximately 15-20 flies were just resting. As we sat we looked at the menu and knew what we were getting. The place had about one or two other parties inside as well that looked like they were almost done. There were several waiters lingering around and looked at us and kept going until we asked if anyone was going to take our order. From the time we mentioned something the waiters were walking around, cleaning tables and as they cleaned and swatted the flies with a towel next to us (which only flew around us or landed on our table) they hadn't asked if we wanted to drink anything or offered anything. One waitress finally came over and said, "I'm sorry your waitress is Sophie but I'll take your order, we're in the middle of changing over." We ordered two lobster rolls and a clam chowder in a bread bowl. We got our food and it was mediocre at best. No flavor and the amount of lobster that is put the bun is so small that the size of the bun over powers the roll. We finished and we had to ask for our bill. Stephanie came over and asked what our experience had been like, and we told her. She said, "did you get the complimentary beignets?" I said, "no." She mentioned that we could take them to go and I said no the food and service had been awful. She asked if we wanted to speak to the manager but what appeared to be the manager had been in the room when the waiters were just lingering around that it just seemed pointless. Wouldn't recommend for lobster rolls, if in the mood for a great lobster roll and great service head south to Lobster West in La Jolla or Coronado. The owner is the same for both and I believe he has a third, his employees are amazing and the food is delicious! I should have gone there instead but I was in the area. read more
Lighthouse Cafe is okay, not bad. They don't take reservations on the weekend, so my tip is to join the Yelp waitlist. If you are parking at the restaurant, my tip is to download the ParkMobile app beforehand. Note which zone you're in (there are signs around the parking lot), and then add your license plate number and car model via the app. For 3 hours, we paid $11.25. Service was meh for our party of six adults and two kids. It also took quite a while to get our food, a little too long, to be honest. We got there at around 12:30 p.m. on a Sunday, and ordered around 12:40 p.m. and didn't get our first appetizer until 1:00 p.m. Our meal came around 1:15 p.m. I ordered the Steak Chilaquiles, which was all right. Views are beautiful, of course. You're mostly coming for the ambiance, lol. read more
It was my first time having breakfast here at the Lighthouse Café. I made reservations for brunch because I wasn't so sure if it was going to be busy. But I'm glad that I made reservations. I tried their caramel latte and their vanilla latte and they were both very delicious and lots of flavor. And for breakfast, I had a seafood omelette inside the omelette. It was lobster and shrimp. It was definitely so delicious and I've never had something like that before. Especially not for breakfast. I was able to sit upstairs and the view was amazing because you're right by the beach and if you sit closer to the edge, there's a couple of tables available and you can enjoy the scene while you enjoy your food. Every employee that I interacted with was amazing, from when I was checking in to my reservation, to the waiter and even leaving, they were very nice. I really enjoyed the food and I enjoyed the coffee very much, I would definitely be coming back here again very soon with some more friends. read more

Service was great! The calamari was melt in you mouth tender-some of the best I have ever had! The chilaquiles with verde were excellent . Nice flavor and spice( not hot at all) the waffles and chicken were okay... with the chicken being a little dry. Our server was very attentive. We sat outside, heaters were lit and umbrellas were up. First time trying this place out. Came on a Saturday around noon and was surprised there wasn't a wait. We were seated outdoors and you get a nice view of the boat docks. It was a nice day too . Parking can be hard to find because there's a small beach area right next to this place and parking will have to be paid for in advance , I paid around $11 for 3 hours. We were sat and greeted by Carlos, who was attentive and provided us good service. Kept our drinks filled and made sure everything tasted good. Had LOW expectations of this place due to the yelp ratings and a previous customer's experience. However, the mahi mahi fish tacos were possibly the BEST fish tacos I've ever had in my life. And I've had a lot of fish tacos !!! (Taco nazo, Ensenada fish grill, Oscar's in San Diego, you get the point). The fish was big and juicy and the sauce had a bit of a kick to it. Wow, I might return JUST for the tacos. Our server Carlos was also so much fun and provided great service to us. For a large party, the reservation required a $25 pp minimum and while the food items were reasonably priced, the drinks were SO overpriced ($10 for a non-alcoholic watermelon drink that was decent at best). I'd rather pay more for the food so I don't have to order a drink to reach the minimum! Anyway, don't sleep on the fish tacos and maybe order an appetizer to share to meet the required minimum :) read more
Everything here is phenomenal, from the food to the drinks to our server Mary's exceptional hospitality. Ordered an aperol spritz, crispy calamari, seared ahi tuna burger, and a spaghetti cioppino which were delicious. The tuna steak was very thick and seared very well and paired well with the coleslaw and avocado. However, the highlight was definitely the spaghetti ciopinno. There was a nice mix of seafood: clams, mussels, shrimp, and mahi mahi. The sauce is very flavorful and paired really well with the aperol spritz. Definitely coming back again soon. read more

Came here recently for a bday party. It was kind of hard not being able to sit down until everyone was there but I get why they have that policy. The calmari and oysters were really good. I also liked their roasted artichoke especially with the dipping sauce The view here is beautiful. read more

Cute little brunch place with horrible service but good food. Came here on a Saturday with me and 5 other friends. We had reservations so we were seated pretty quickly. Ignacio was our server and he brought us our waters very quickly but didn't come back for 20 minutes to take our orders. I ordered the lobster mac, which was really delicious and lots of chunks or lobster. 5 of my friends didn't get their food until more than 30 minutes after my meal came. We flagged Ignacio down at the 30 minute mark and he simply said the food was coming and with no apology. Tables that placed their orders much later than us received their food before us. We were seated under the ac and water was dripping on one of our friends and almost landed in his drink. We waived down a server and didn't really seem to care. After a while everyone's food arrived. The female servers and the hostess were really nice but the male servers kinda sucked. I have a lot of patience for servers and would've totally understood if they were packed, but it was towards the end of brunch with not a lot of customers. I'd come again for the beignets but other than that I would pass just from the service. read more

This was our second time having breakfast at Lighthouse Cafe. The view of the harbor is lovely and the service is good. Parking is plentiful, but it is metered (use pay station or app) but only a few dollars an hour. We've tried the blueberry lemon pancakes, the breakfast burrito, and the steak chilaquiles. All were very good. There were several tables open so we didn't wait to be seated despite it being Sunday morning brunch time. read more

There was tons of street parking and a parking lot directly in front of it. All parking was operated by ParkMobile. It's right in front of the water (half marina and a small sand/beach area) where you can walk around as you wait.
Do you guys do bottomless mimosas? If so, is there a selection on what days and times?
They have bottomless mimosas on the weekend for $17 per person.
Do you take reservations for 12? I only see up to 6 on open table.
Call them and they can make it work. They do have tables that can be moved around to fit more than 6.
