i love the Lighthouse. I came here for a dinner and brunch. The location is beautiful. While you wait for your table, you can walk around the walk path and enjoy the beach views. Parking is easy too. You do have to pay per hour, but the price is not bad. Restrooms are outside the restaurant, kind of like in the front side facing the parking lot. The service is great. The servers were so kind for both of the times I went. For dinner time, we went to celebrate a birthday. We got steak, fish, pasta, drinks, beignets, and it was all delicious. We ordered garlic bread, there was a hair in it that didn't belong to us and they immediately brought out a new hairless one for us. The drinks were delish, I got a watermelon martini and it was great, my friend got the ocho paloma and it was a bit too strong for a paloma, but hey! some people might prefer that, she however, drank it like she was taking multiple shots. The shrimp cocktail was delicious, the mahi mahi tacos were amazing, the Brazilian steak sandwich was good. I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and cinnamon sugar beignets. The mac and cheese head a good amount of lobster in it and was a good portion. It was super cheesy and very delicious! The beignets was fluffy and sweet in the best way. I appreciated how light and airy they were and also how many came in an order. I planned this place for my friends surprise birthday, but unfortunately, they were short staffed so it took about 40 minutes before we got our food. The surprise I had for her didn't really work out the way I wanted it to because the instructions I gave the staff weren't necessarily followed concretely, making things confusing and making me explain repeatedly what to do. It also took a long time before we got our bill, so it kind of made us uncomfortable, knowing that we could just leave it any second, but obviously we did stay. The staff were really nice though!! I've had this spot on my Go-to list for some time now, and finally got to visit alongside my cousin. Upon arrival, we checked into our reservation, although the restaurant seemed to be a bit more on the slow side; it was around 9 am on a Thursday morning. We were catered to by Ignacio our server, who I might add spoke both English and Spanish and would accommodate to whatever language we happened to be speaking in the moment. He made us feel at home, and recommended we try the cinnamon sugar beignets which we fell in love with! This a cute little restaurant in Newport Beach! It has a nautical theme and interesting building shaped like a lighthouse. Being right next to the water, it has pretty nice panoramic views of the marina. I came here on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friend's birthday. They have a neighboring parking lot but requires payment (about $4/hour). The inside of the building was on the smaller side, but it never felt crowded, which was nice. We made a reservation and they did not seat us until our whole party arrived. The food was pretty good - the menu had a good amount of seafood and non-seafood options as well. I got the chicken sandwich. The chicken pieces were a bit on the smaller side for my liking, and the bun kinda fell apart, so I had to eat it with a fork and knife lol. They have both outside and inside seating, but because the place is surrounded by windows, sitting inside was perfect for us, as we got views with no wind. My favorite item was the Mini Tuna Tostadas they were fresh and the avocado was perfect ripeness. Service was excellent the waiter was super kind and quick to accommodate. The wait was long, but the Yelp waitlist reduced that. So definitely would recommend that or reservations. The food was good, but not my favorite (aside from the mini tostadas) The lobster roll was a bit dry and I have had better and the lobster mac was good, but nothing particularly extraordinary. Returned only because the owner recommended the lobster rolls mentioned they were the best in Newport Beach. The first time we were there deserved 5 stars service and food were amazing. However once we returned service and food was horrible. We sat inside and we got seated next to a table where approximately 15-20 flies were just resting. As we sat we looked at the menu and knew what we were getting. The place had about one or two other parties inside as well that looked like they were almost done. There were several waiters lingering around and looked at us and kept going until we asked if anyone was going to take our order. From the time we mentioned something the waiters were walking around, cleaning tables and as they cleaned and swatted the flies with a towel next to us (which only flew around us or landed on our table) they hadn't asked if we wanted to drink anything or offered anything. One waitress finally came over and said, "I'm sorry your waitress is Sophie but I'll take your order, we're in the middle of changing over." We ordered two lobster rolls and a clam chowder in a bread bowl. We got our food and it was mediocre at best. No flavor and the amount of lobster that is put the bun is so small that the size of the bun over powers the roll. We finished and we had to ask for our bill. Stephanie came over and asked what our experience had been like, and we told her. She said, "did you get the complimentary beignets?" I said, "no." She mentioned that we could take them to go and I said no the food and service had been awful. She asked if we wanted to speak to the manager but what appeared to be the manager had been in the room when the waiters were just lingering around that it just seemed pointless. Wouldn't recommend for lobster rolls, if in the mood for a great lobster roll and great service head south to Lobster West in La Jolla or Coronado. It was my first time having breakfast here at the Lighthouse Café. I made reservations for brunch because I wasn't so sure if it was going to be busy. But I'm glad that I made reservations. I tried their caramel latte and their vanilla latte and they were both very delicious and lots of flavor. And for breakfast, I had a seafood omelette inside the omelette. It was lobster and shrimp. It was definitely so delicious and I've never had something like that before. Especially not for breakfast. I was able to sit upstairs and the view was amazing because you're right by the beach and if you sit closer to the edge, there's a couple of tables available and you can enjoy the scene while you enjoy your food. Every employee that I interacted with was amazing, from when I was checking in to my reservation, to the waiter and even leaving, they were very nice. I really enjoyed the food and I enjoyed the coffee very much, I would definitely be coming back here again very soon with some more friends. read more
