5 star location 3.5 star food 4 star service 1 star sanitary Managers for lighthouse need to do something about the flies in the restaurant. I was there around 10am today and notice couple flies around the table then when I really paid attention, I saw a lot of flies, I mean a lot. Each section of their window had 2-5 flies sitting at the window edge. Once our food arrived, because we had a seafood omelette, the flies kept coming to us and it became hazardous. We quickly finished our meal and had no interest to stay and enjoy the view anymore even though we were seated at a nice table next to the windows.
Beautiful setting for the restaurant at New Port Bay area. Lots of boats, lots of tourists playing on the Sandy Beach. The food was magnificent. The waiter Carlos was excellent. We enjoyed everything about our adventure here.
First visit. Picked something close to the beach and hotel since we were driving in from Vegas. Menu looked good when I looked at it prior and it was on the water. We checked in at the front desk and asked about the parking. She said we would have to pay to park. I'm like ok? Shouldn't it be waved if we are eating here. No. I had to walk back out and pay for the parking. We were starving so just did it. Service was slow! Took a while to get our food and drinks. View was nice on the water but we will not return due to the flies. Disgusting! They were everywhere! Kept landing in the food and buzzing around everywhere. I made a comment to a person on the staff and they laughed like oh I know they are bad. Food was ok. Artichokes were my fav. The steak was very small that comes with the steak and eggs.
Lighthouse has an amazing location with beautiful ocean views. The beach is right there to enjoy, and there's a park nearby, making it a great spot to relax before or after your meal. I was mildly disappointed with a few things, though. The lobster roll was delicious and definitely the highlight of the meal. The chips were just okay. My latte, unfortunately, was one of the worst I've had... it tasted like milk with just a splash of coffee. The staff was very kind and happily replaced it with an Americano, which was much better. One inconvenience was the restroom situation. The closest bathrooms were by the lighthouse, which is a bit of a walk. I only wanted to rinse the lobster off my fingers, so I ended up using a glass of water outside instead. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the food had some strong points, but the disappointing coffee and lack of convenient restrooms kept this from being a higher-rated experience. I would give it a 3.5 star but since its not allowed, the experience was pleasant enough for a 4. Prices were decent id say
The restaurant is located by the water and actually looks like a lighthouse. It's cute. The interior is smaller than I thought but since it's a lighthouse it's shaped round. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I think it may be popular as a brunch spot. We had reservations for 11:30am and it was bustling. By noon the crowd seemed to have dispersed. Everything on the menu looked good so we ended up ordering literally a table full of food - 2 types of mimosas (tropical paradise and elderflower guava), calamari, clam chowder, beignets, steak (holy cow), lobster roll and mahi mahi tacos. Of the mimosas we liked the guava best. Holy cow was one of our favorites but really everything was delicious. Staff was pleasant, just in the beginning we had to wait quite some time for someone to take our order. We had made reservations with a note that we were celebrating our anniversary but they don't acknowledge celebrations I guess so if you are wanting something special at the restaurant perhaps not this place.
Made reservations through Yelp for 7 people, indoor seating. We arrived and checked in at the front--the host sat us down immediately. It was a weekday brunch/lunch hours, so the restaurant wasn't too packed. Food came out relatively fast! Only complaint-- Everyone got their food at the same time except one person. Their Lobster roll took a long time. By the time we had server check, the rest of party was finishing up their food. I gave one of my mahi tacos, so my friend didn't have to sit awkwardly while we all ate. Guests ordered: Calamari appetizer- crispy, but soft to chew. Flavorful and not heavy batter. Wasn't overcooked and everyone enjoyed it with the sauce it came with. Elderflower Guava mimosa-- refreshing and tastes tropical and light. Guava taste is apparent if you like guava. Something diff if you want to change it up in flavor! Sorry didn't take pic of that. Lobster roll-- Actually really fresh and decent amount of lobster meat given. The bun was a brioche type bun, slightly toasted. Overall, good, but not sure it was worth that long of a wait for it. It came out late, so I wasn't about to take pic of it knowing my friend is starving. Haha Ahi Sandwich--- came with some fries and side salad. Tuna was seared perfectly and not overcooked. Well seasoned too. Bun was slightly toasted. Dressing on salad was a light vinaigrette. Salad looked clean and bright in color. Mahi Mahi--- the corn tortillas must be fresh, because it's soft and thick and elevates the whole dish. If you like spicy, this definitely has a nice kick to it with the seasoning and sauce. Loved it! Fish and Chips-- was good. Crispy and fish not overcooked. Fries are fries anywhere. lol Clam Chowder-- not too salty in comparison to other places. Decent amount of clams. Has a creamy texture, not too thick and not too watery. Nothing irks me more when it's full of potatoes. This had the right amount of potatoes and clams. Lemon Blueberry Pancakes-- Nailed it! Felt like eating dessert! If you love blueberries, this one is for you. Didn't taste a lot of lemon flavors, but it's probably mixed in there somewhere with the syrup and probably lemon zest. Chicken and Waffles--- Chicken was seasoned well and has a nice crunch to it. Not enough chicken in my opinion. Chicken piece looked small in comparison to two thick slabs of waffles. It was good, but wouldn't get it again. If you've had chicken and waffles in Long Beach, IYKYK. Wonderful view of Marina as usual. Our server was super nice and efficient. She had a calm and friendly demeanor about her. She saw we were trying to take pics and offered to take a a few of our table. How thoughtful. It's the small things that matter the most. Details, details! Overall, we had a pleasant time. Thank you!
Make reservations for outdoor seating! You'll have a beautiful view of the water. I got the lobster roll and it was delicious and buttery. The lemon blueberry pancakes were shared amongst my table and we devoured them. If I come back, I'd definitely order the lobster roll again!!
This is my second time eating here and unfortunately this time was more of a let down. We had a reservation got sat waited a bit longer then normal for someone to come over a take our order they were pretty busy so that's understandable. Our server was very kind a up beat so no dings on her the part. that let us down was how slow the bar and kitchen times were. We got the beignets as an appetizer which surprisingly came out quickly, but then we waited another 15 minutes after we had gotten the beignets for our drinks..... not ideal. Then we ordered our food and that took painfully long as well. We sat with empty water and empty drinks was very hard to flag someone down to get a second round of bar drinks. After the long waited food to come three of the dishes were cold and not just like maybe had been sitting out for five like minutes like they clearly had been sitting out for awhile. The dishes that was cold were clam chowder, french toast and fish and chips. I wish my party could have good feed back for at least the flavor of their food but they were very off put by their dishes being cold. Good points would be the presentation of the food is very well put together. And when our server was around, she always had a smile on her face and good attitude. Food that we could rate was My dish: steak chilaquiles (gluten free) 8/10 very flavorful eggs cooked perfectly The seared Aji sandwich: - 8/10 bun was toasted flavor was good and fresh cooked beautifully Fried chicken and waffles: - 5/10 nothing to write home about seemed very classic waffles were a bit underdone Beignets: 10/10 very light and airy not too sweet and the sauce was super good. Topped with cinnamon sugar Cocktails Wiser and elder - gin, vodka, st. Germain, lemon and basil / 9/10 soooo good very well balanced Strawberry mojito - very refreshing 8/10 Some notes, service was good the servers can only do so much when they aren't properly staffed or ticket times are running behind. Only point I would make is it better to be present during those times and checking in on your tables rather then trying to avoid the tables that are waiting on somthing you (the sever ) cant provide your self. The restaurant is a gorgeous setting very yacht club vibes. Not as many gluten free options which I knew going in which is okay for me and the menu is well labeled. Overall a bit disappointing having had a good prior experience hopefully they can work on trying to time their seating with kitchen and bar ticket times. I do think the reason people keep coming back here is the ambiance and setting of the restaurant you really can't beat it it very cute and have a great view of the water
Came here for a friend's birthday and had such a great experience! All of the staff were so nice and friendly, and they answered any questions we had about the menu. I tried the chicken and waffles and it was delicious. I wasn't sure if it came with a side or if I had to ask for one, but either way, the meal was really good. The only small thing was that the syrup was a little too sweet for me, but honestly that might just be a me thing. The scenery was beautiful and the ocean view made the experience even better. The staff also brought out small beignets for the birthday girl, which was such a sweet gesture. I would 100% come back!
45 minute-wait on a Saturday which wasn't bad. We requested to sit outside but unfortunately the table had one seat right in the sun. We asked if we could move to a shaded table and were told no, even though there were open tables. I felt ill from the sun so I was waiting outside of patio in the shade until the server came. I guess my boyfriend asked again and they kept sending employees to the table and after about three people moved us. After that the server was nice. Food and drink were mediocre (lobster roll and lava flow). Nice view of the ocean and sailboats. Additional notes: no room for stroller on patio so you have to leave it outside of restaurant. Public restroom not attached to restaurant. Paid parking lot out front. Park for kids very close by.
This restaurant was really pretty, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy both the view and my meal. I made a reservation on a weekday evening, however, it would have been fine to just walk in since it wasn't that busy. Parking was a bit difficult to find and you have to pay to park in the lot. Service was good, and my server was able to squeeze in an order from the happy hour menu before it ended. I started with the lobster sliders, a cup of clam chowder, and a blood orange cosmo. All three items hit the spot. The lobster sliders, although small, had a good amount of lobster piled on and were good just dipped in butter. The fries were also nicely crispy and paired well with dipping in the clam chowder, which I really liked. The blood orange cosmo was on the sweeter side but was good. This "linner" was my first meal of the day so I also got the pan-seared salmon off the dinner menu. I thought it was fine. Next time, I'd probably stick to trying more items off of the happy hour menu.
Our family went to the lighthouse with the whole family, in-laws, aunts, and cousins Had an absolutely wonderful brunch here, everything was perfect from start to finish. We ordered a little bit of everything, from waffles and pancakes to eggs, and every dish was fantastic. What really made the experience special was our server, Mary. She is one of the nicest, sweetest people I've ever met. We ended up talking about our shared love of bourbon and whiskey, and she recommended her bourbon margarita... and wow, it was incredible. If you go, make sure to say hi to Mary and ask about her bourbon margarita. She truly made our brunch unforgettable and deserves a big raise!
Great location and great service. Our party of 9 dined in for brunch to end a bachelorette trip, and I'm glad we did! I made reservations a few weeks in advance, and they were able to seat us right in the middle of the lighthouse. Beautiful! The food was so good! We would definitely recommend the dishes pictured in this review. Also, if your party will be drinking, the mimosa pitchers were very worth it.
My family finished up a whale watching tour and decided it was time for breakfast. At 10am on a Friday, it was quick seating. We sat outside facing the harbor. Our server, Ignacio, was top notch! Quickly obtained our beverage orders and delivered just as fast. Breakfast followed shortly after. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Holy moly! Appearance wise, it was stunning! Chicken, savory, tasty, and filling. Waffles, BIG let down. They were not like normal waffles. They were like the waffle cookie dessert things you get at Costco. They were extremely dense and had these toffee-like nuggets inside. I couldn't finish them so my daughter took care of them. Breakfast burrito was also delicious according to my daughter's dad. We let our server know, who provided some feedback. We understand that they take time to make, but for $22, I expected waffles, not waffle cookies. read more

Amazing. We love this place for the views and bloody Mary's served in a mason jar. Calamari is fire too. Servers say mahi tacos are the best but they are a little dry. Service is always on point, Ada is an amazing server. The hosts have always been very welcoming and pleasant. 10/10 if you haven't been definitely check it out if you have kids! Quick, friendly service in a comfy location with great views of the water (especially from the second floor). Good celebration spot especially. Did the mimosa brunch special with a group of 4 and highly recommend. Restaurant also has a designated parking lot and access to public restrooms in the same building. Hadn't been here in about 10 years and went to grab breakfast on a weekend and was promptly seated an hour after opening. Our servers were prompt when needed and food was still of great quality and extremely filling as I remembered. Can't wait to put this spot back on regular rotation for weekend breakfasts now! read more

Headed back to the High Desert but we were hungry so we decided to stop here at LightHouse for Brunch/Early Lunch & it was a great decision. We ordered the Lobster Roll & omg was it phenomenal. The Lobsters were fresh & caught this morning. Seasoned perfectly toasted Roll highly recommended ! Service is top notch ! Kept the our table clear made sure our drinks were topped off & all this with a warm smile and pride for her job. Ambiance was low lighting candles on the table tops & outdoor dining where you can bask in the sun enjoy the sea air & watch the boats come in and out. 08/10: It was dad's bday and he wanted to celebrate at the Lighthouse. So how did it go.... After the parking challenge everything was a breeze. We were a party of 12 and everyone was running late. Upon check-in, I informed the hostess and she was very understanding. They started to prep our table as our party made their way in. The hostess was very accommodating and just had a great vibe about her. Without the full party being present we were seated, which is not a common practice nowadays. For the few of us that were there, our server Sophie made her way over, introduced herself and got us started with a round of drinks. Sophie was awesome from beginning to end. We all enjoyed having her as our server. She was cheerful, helpful, and very accommodating. My family can be all over the place and Sophie provided excellent service. Whether our drinks required 10-ice cubes, 1-ice cube, or no ice cubes, we never felt a cold vibe from Sophie. Additionally, the staff that brought our food and drinks over, helping Sophie, were equally awesome and added to the experience. Let's not forget Franciso, who was also very accommodating, helpful and shared a few laughs with us. Although I do not recall everyone's order, I can say that there was not a single complaint about a dish. The food was well presented and served in good time with no one waiting for their food. Dog-friendly breakfast with a view? Yes, please! Lighthouse Cafe is the perfect spot to start your day in Newport Beach. The view of the harbor is stunning, and the staff are incredibly friendly -- we felt welcome the moment we walked in (and so did our fluffy little Pomeranian!). We ordered the Eggs Benedict, avocado toast, and those dreamy cinnamon sugar pastries -- crispy outside, soft inside, and just the right amount of glaze. I highly recommend trying them -- they're not your usual dessert! The coffee was smooth and came with rock candy for stirring -- cute and tasty touch. Online reservation is not available on Saturday. Parking is $3.75 per hour. License plate number is needed to enter in the parking permit kiosk. The kiosk takes a couple of minutes to process the credit card payment. There is plenty of parking around at 9:30AM; however, when we left at 11:20AM there was no parking spaces. Restrooms are outside and it is the public restrooms for the beach. Arrived at 9:40AM at the restaurant and the staff seated us right away for inside dining. Our table was right by the beach so we were able to enjoy a relaxing and beautiful view. Our server was attentive so we did not lack anything. We did not feel rushed to leave even though there was a long line of people waiting for a table. Enjoyed the free beignets with yelp check in and free ice cream for a birthday celebration. We ordered the Eggs Benedict, Steak Chilaquiles, Chicken & Waffles, Tea, and Vanilla Latte. If we come here again, then we would sit inside by the windows so we can enjoy the view and order the Beignet and Vanilla Latte. read more

The beignets were ok. The dough is a bit thick. The Filet Crostini was great as always. The Fish and Chips were not that good. It's panko breaded small rectangles of fish with not much flavor. The fries were good though. The Clam Chowder was great. The vegetable soup was flavorless. read more

The Lighthouse is a perfect spot for brunch. We decided to sit outside to enjoy the scenery. Our server offered us the cinnamon sugar beignets. We decided to try the clam chowder, mahi mahi tacos & a lobster roll. We also had a pitcher of mimosas. The food was so delicious but those beignets were to die for. Our server was super friendly & helpful. It's always to get good service. I suggest putting your name on the waitlist prior to arriving since they get busy. read more

Amazing experience from start to finish! The food was fantastic, but what really stood out was the service. Manager Andrew runs a great team, and you can feel it in the atmosphere. Our server Stephanie was outstanding--attentive, friendly, and genuinely made us feel special. She had great recommendations and made the whole night so enjoyable. finally made it to lighthouse after almost a year i had saved this restaurant back when we were here at the marina park to watch the newport christmas boat parade i mean, who doesnt love a lighthouse! just like my girl laurel, i came here to kick off my birthday month! made rez via open table for sat brunch at 2pm after the manager checked us in, he said "happy birthday" and walked us to our table in the patio area. our table was in the back which was perfect, bc ofc i had my dog stroller! ignacio, was our waiter during our visit. he was nice and friendly. the service did seem a bit slow, it looked like he was manning the entire patio section. regardless, he was present and attentive. ordered: CRISPY CHICKEN SANDWICH Spicy Slaw, Sambal Aioli, Pickles, Spring Salad, Fries MAHI MAHI TACOS Cilantro Lime Coleslaw, Chili Aioli, Queso Fresco, Spring Salad i really wanted to order the calamari but we were kinda still full from our light breakfast the food was really tasty. the chicken sandwich was def different, it had like a sweet and sour spin. delicious! welp, then it started to sprinkle then rain .. we took all our stuff and moved to the table over we were kinda done eating anyways so it was fine so glad they had the patio heaters on! beautiful views, def recommend this place! parking: i believe there is street parking but we parked in the lot across the way. its a paid lot. you can pay by using the app or the use the pay machines read more

Brought my parents here for their Anniversary Lunch and I'm so happy that I did! Plenty of parking beautiful marina. Greeted right away fast service . This review is for Ignacio R. He was absolutely fantastic! Best service to make my parents day special. Ignacio was delightful. Thank you so much. I got the lobster roll $29 tasty My mom got the fish and chips she kept saying it's so yummy. My Dad got the mahi tacos which was best one on menu. Restrooms located outside of the restaurant and no it's not a real lighthouse but feels like you're dining in one. Fire pits and outdoor seating available but I sat inside with beautiful views. Lighthouse cafe was a perfect experience. From the food to the excellent service provided by Damien - it was all amazing! We started with the crispy calamari, wedge salad, and a cup of clam chowder soup. Perfectly crispy, warm, fresh ingredients! For our main course, we had the blackened halibut with the citrus crème sauce, hanger steak, and chicken strips. All three meals were on point. Not one complaint. Portions are good as well so you won't leave hungry. The three course meal (fish) comes with desert, so I tried the ice cream cake and Yelp offers a free dessert with a check in so we tried those as well. Amazing!!! Last but not least - the service. The highlight of it all was our server. Damien made sure we were taken care of, offered recommendations, and made sure our drink were never empty. read more

This was a cute little stop as we explored Balboa island. We sat outside and service was prompt and attentive. I had the steak chilequilas - I really enjoyed the meal and felt comfortable as someone with celiac as the menu was labeled with GF for GF options. My friend had the chicken and waffles and enjoyed the way the chicken was fried. A little pricey for what it was! read more
We came to Lighthouse for a birthday celebration. We didn't have to wait for a long time, we were greeted right away. Our server was Ada, she was friendly and pleasant. She had smile on her face and was patient with us since we had questions about the menu. Food tastes really good no complaints. Everybody in our party was satisfied with the food and portions. This place is walking distance from beach which makes perfect to burn the calories. It can crowded by noon and I would recommend reservations, if you don't like to wait. There was tons of street parking and a parking lot directly in front of it. All parking was operated by ParkMobile. It's right in front of the water (half marina and a small sand/beach area) where you can walk around as you wait.
Do you guys do bottomless mimosas? If so, is there a selection on what days and times?
They have bottomless mimosas on the weekend for $17 per person.
Do you take reservations for 12? I only see up to 6 on open table.
Call them and they can make it work. They do have tables that can be moved around to fit more than 6.
