I had brunch with a few girl friends here for the first time last week. After looking at the previous reviews- they were right about the poor service. We had to asked for utensils multiple times and extra plates. We got our drink order wrong but because it took so long we just took them instead of them correcting it which we took upon ourselves as we're about 30 mins in at this point and we understand how busy they are. This is the deal breaker here. Two of us ordered the lobster roll. It was more dressing than the actual lobster. You can tell it's frozen and old. From the start, everything went bad. Arrived at 1130, and asked to sit outside because we had our pets. We were quoted 30-40 minutes, but ended up waiting close to an hour and that's only because I asked the hostess what was taking so long. We get sat, waited once again for our sever. He's demeanor was very off, just asked if we were ready to order, didn't even write it down and obviously got it wrong. We ordered a starter, got it with our main course, and one entree was completely wrong. I had told him I wanted to keep a menu because I wanted to order a cocktail with my food, but he never made his way back. We had to ask someone else for refills of water and ketchup. Love this restaurant!! Today we met the owners Paul and Kathy and they were the nicest most caring people. Kathy went around to every table to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal, before she sat down to finish her meal with her husband Paul. The food is always delicious and they have bottomless mimosas on the weekends!! They serve lunch/dinner food which is very good, but I love their breakfast food. Absolutely recommend trying the Cinnamon Sugar Beignet for a little appetizer. The location is perfect and there is parking for the restaurant only. You do have to pay but it's not very expensive to park. The do not do reservations on the weekends but you can join the waitlist on Yelp before you arrive. For COVID - they only do outdoor seating right now, all servers and staff wear masks and gloves. They are very much following all the 6 ft apart guidelines. read more

Went on my birthday last month for brunch - bottomless mimosa was really 1 pitcher per order (which was plenty), and the food was amazing! My favorite was the lobster Mac n cheese, which was one of the tastiest things I've had in a long while. Definitely worth the price point. Lobster rolls were just okay, I feel like they're the same everywhere. I didn't catch the name of our server but she was truly so amazing and endearing. The location is perfect! We were seated within a walking distance by the beach. From our table, we could hear the calming waves and crashes of the water. It was a great day for a meal outside. 10/10 The service was amazing. First, we reserved a table for 5 inside, but as we sat down, we found that it was a little stuffy inside since the weather was humid that day. We requested to be seated outside. They did so without any complaints and in such a graceful manner, too. Our server was the best. I did not catch her name, but she was attentive to our requests. 10/10 They have such reasonable prices. I was actually pretty surprised because I was expecting prices to be steep given their nice location. The serving quantity was also quite generous. 9/10 Now, for their food...I was not very impressed. It is your typical local diner menu. I ordered their fish and chips. The batter was soggy, while the fish fillet was very dry. I was really disappointed. 5/10 If you are just looking for a nice place to hang out and not have such high expectations for food, then this is the place for you. Thank You Greg! From the moment I called to make reservation for 17 people party till the moment we finished our early dinner, it was a great experience. It is hard to manage any other party when only outside siting is available. Many places I called were unable to accommodate us. Lighthouse Cafe did an amazing job. They were helpful, courteous, warm and very professional. Waiters were great. We had 8 kids in the party and their food was brought in so fast. I did not even have to say a word. Adults enjoyed beer on tap, calamari, fish and chips, and tacos. Several of us had burgers. They were so good! Perfect bun and the rest of it was prepared so well! I paid $100/person to not eat here. We made reservations by emailing the manager to Dine and Watch the Newport Beach Boat Parade. We've done this at other restaurants in Newport and always enjoyed it, but we wanted to try a new spot earlier in the parade. I actually had to email the manager twice to get a response and then was sent a link to pay for my reservation. On the night of the event, it took over 30 minutes to go two mile because traffic for the boat parade was worse than it has ever been. We called the restaurant when we were running late and then pulled into the parking lot only to be told there weren't any parking spots left (it looks like spots might have been reserved for a private party). Lighthouse...the only restaurant in Newport that doesn't offer an overpriced valet, which I would have gladly paid for. When I called the restaurant back to ask about where to park, I was told I'd have to find a public lot and that I should have tried to arrive earlier and that the reservation stated the parking situation. Food is probably good. Boat parade viewing was probably great for the six people who got a parking spot. I couldn't tell you. I paid a ton of money to sit in traffic. Review update- Got an immediate response from the manager based on review, which is ironic because I had to email him twice to book the original reservation. I have no doubt they were able to seat someone at our table, so I just hope the extra money for the day goes to the servers and not management. read more

They definitely did a good job at maintaining social distancing, at least in their indoor seating area. The decor is beautiful and you get a nice view of the boats and water activities happening nearby. We started off by ordered their beignets as a small starting plate/appetizer. We enjoyed them very much. I then ordered the Lobster Mac N Cheese, which I enjoyed. I also ordered their Strawberry Mojito--it was okay but would not get it again if I come back. My friend had their breakfast burrito, which she said was okay but did not impress her (she also stated she wouldn't get it again). I am giving it a good rating because the staff, ambiance, and view make the restaurant unique. I also would love to come back and try other items off their menu. One minor issue we encountered is that I felt bad for their host, servers, etc. We got there early and as soon as we got seated, more and more people arrived. I feel like there was not enough staff to accommodate so many people. We finished our food and waited over 20 minutes to get someone's attention to get the bill (granted, we were in no rush so we were able to wait patiently). I ordered the grilled mahi mahi and it was awful. I don't know what the sauce was called but it had a horrible taste. I tried scrapping the sauce off to eat the fish but the fish tasted like nothing so it was hard to eat. My friend ordered the same dish and neither of us were able to eat it.
