If you're looking for something new and inventive while still being delicious, this is the place for you! I'm a sucker for something outside the box and not only is the Salad Pizza exactly that, it somehow takes the best elements of salad and pizza and puts them together for one giant perfectly filling, perfectly delicious slice. And it's vegetarian???! Wow never felt more seen and cannot recommend enough! Think perfectly crunchy and soft pizza base, tangy and fresh salad, creamy avocado and juicy tomatoes. The only issue I had was with actually physically eating it because the toppings would keep falling off and making this loud plop which is why I took off a point. Maybe a smaller slice or more sour cream to "stick" the toppings or avocado in a more guac-like consistency, perhaps? Not bad. Despite all the nostalgic pictures on the walls of things back East, this pizza joint is a pretty far cry from what my Northeast palate expects. It's not bad, and will do the job if you're in the neighborhood, but its pretty standard. They really need to work on their pizza sauce.... or at least add more to the pizza. As it is now, it tastes like an open-faced cheese quesadilla, with a hint of tomato. That said, there are some pretty interesting items on their wall menu that have piqued my curiosity, and I will definitely have to try, which may affect my rating going forward. This includes their "salad pizza", which if you look at the menu, sounds curiously refreshing. Plus, for $3 they can turn your pizza into a heart-shaped one. We came for the salad pizza! During our stay in Marina Del Rey a group of friends and I decided to order some pizza. Conveniently we noticed a place that we have been wanting to check out. Since Abbot's Pizza co is not quite local to where we lived we're happy to be able to try it out during our stay on the west side. One thing I really enjoyed about this place is the creation of pizza. Typical style of choosing size and toppings but the interesting part is you get to choose the types of crusts and sauce. By crusts, they have options such as onion, poppy, sesame. (think bagels) I wasn't too happy with the pricing as three pizzas ended up being roughly $80. Life is about balance. And Abbot's Pizza Company has a great way of doing this. It's called salad pizza. Now before you scoff or think that I am crazy, I too thought this is the weirdest most LAist thing to be done. BUT after trying it, I am a huge fan. I will talk this pizza up like no one business. I have to say I was very impressed by the separate racks for vegetarian and meat pizza. I am an omnivore, but I know Vegetarian who would very much appreciate that bit of considerate kindness. Although I'm not a huge fan of their cheese pizza (my standard pizza order), Abbot's Pizza Company is well-known for their salad pizza and it's a unique food experience I think most people should give a try. The Salad pizza is exactly as it sounds; it is a literal salad on top of a pizza and they are not conservative with the toppings. If you do visit and order the salad pizza, I recommend eating the entire pizza the same day -- because there is a salad on top, there is no good way to re-heat. read more

Plenty of workers in kitchen, 25 minutes wait on top of 18 minutes outside a locked door we get pizza. Was invited to come back and try something different after my somewhat lackluster experience with a basic pepperoni pizza. I ordered their BBQ chicken special. Long story short, it was much better. This time around, I got a little bit more info too. Apparently, you can customize the crust. Ordering the pepperoni pizza on the phone, the cashier failed to inform me. During my second order, I received the info. I'd recommend their specialty pizzas over simple basic pizzas. One of the main reasons is price. The basic pizzas are already pricey, so you might as well upgrade to enjoy the full experience. With these specialty pizzas, do you want the option to soup your crust? Abbot has 'flavored crusts' you can experiment with .Maybe. Some probably work better than others. It's gonna cost you to find out which one is the perfect mixture though. If you 're a math aficionado these are called 'combinations'. Have at it. I ordered the BBQ pizza with an 'everything crust.' The crust tasted exactly like an 'everything bagel.' It was unique, and I enjoyed the taste, but for some people you might want to try the safer option of 'garlic crust' or just leave it plain. The bbq pizza was a little bit more organized this time and not as 'floppy'. Still, the pizza makers might want to leave the pizza in the oven a tad bit longer. The bbq pizza especially needs to be a little bit more done over than other pizzas. Would consider coming back here to get that Mom 'n pop taste. It's pricey though. read more

Abbot's Pizza has been a local staple for my family since.... (I won't age myself here). I fondly remember being a young kiddo sitting at the counter with my cheese slice, to today, sitting with my kids at the same counter, now enjoying a salad slice (with a side of that delicious spicy dip they offer). The variety of toppings, the famous bagel crust -- it's all just way too good. Abbot's has been and remains our favorite slice in LA. The staff are quick, efficient, and most importantly, SO helpful and patient as we often place large orders over the phone for pickup. Came out to be about $125, pretty pricey but we were pretty desperate. The pizzas were ready in about 45 minutes and it turned out to be decent. They were busy on a Saturday night and you can tell by the way the pizzas turned out, some were pretty sloppy. Pizza had a hard crust and a soggy center. It was a bit dry... felt like there were not a lot of tomato sauce, more cheesy. And the ingredients used were ok quality. I don't like the type of sausage they used. The one I liked (but nobody else liked from the party) was the chicken picante. Tasted like a chicken enchilada! Probably really good for late night drunk munchies! read more

Great veggie pizza! I know the hype is the salad pizza, but the regular is where they got their name! We only been there at noon for a fast stop, and it's fast, great, and tasty all in one. Can't beat it! And they make their dough everything in that tiny store to ensure you their quality. I love how they separate the veg and meat pizza in two different windows so my vegetarian friends don't need to worry about any meat smell / chunks get into their veg pizza! Anyhow I ordered the spinach pizza and it's really nice. Not too oily and just the perfect amount of cheese and sauce for the thin dough. Oh the dough is not too thin nor thick too! Just the perfect thickness for enough dough and ingredients each bite. Why choose between almost crispy thin crust and thick deep pie crust when you can get this?! Just amazing!
