The place is nearly empty every time I walk by, and when I do stop in for a slice in hopes of a flash of the old deliciousness the options are sparse and the new crust recipe, while decently tasty, doesn't hold a candle to what we all knew and loved. If you buy a neighborhood institution that's done it right for 30 years, don't go changing everything that made it great. I have to agree with others who say the new ownership has wrecked the pizza. I didn't know there as new ownership until I saw only one holder of pizzas when there are usually two with plenty of choices. When I inquired I was told that the new owner had reduced the number of pizzas and changed ingredients. I ordered a slice of salad pizza and a sausage and onion pizza. I didn't realize until after it was all rung up that the salad pizza no longer came with avocados but instead there was some kind of avocado sauce which was plenty bland. I also had big chunks of cucumbers on the pizza. I asked them not to heat up my sausage pizza because I was going home but they did anyway. When I looked at the pizza it had dots for what should have been sausage. I asked for a different piece with more meat. At the cost of 18.00 for two slices I that tasted like nothing I am done with Abbott Pizza because all that it was which was a great slice of a New York type pizza is now gone. I grew up in Chicago so I know pizza and what they now serve is not worth the money. The new owner wants to make money but not serve a good product. read more

We stopped in for a couple of slices of pizza during lunch time on a Friday. The sausage and peppers slice was great, good thin crust, good sauce, and the pickled onions were such a nice touch. The place is limited in seating, but with how quick the food came out and how this is more of a takeaway/ quick meal that's not really an issue. The staff were nice, friendly, and there was a general happy atmosphere in the kitchen. We plan to be back soon. read more

It's a dark, and cold and rainy night tonight. And comfort food always scratches the itch, esp Abbotts's. Walked over from my place on the Venice beach boardwalk. :) We ordered the wild mushroom+ supreme pizza slices. They pulled the slices off the pizza rack and poped them back in the pizza oven. Added crusted peppers topping and had to remove the oil on top. It's yummy but also maybe change the oil-ness. Seating is twin countertops, indoors. Esp, in this insane thunder-stormy weather. This joint is def def a Venice local spot. And it's a lil more inland from the ocean. So you can stay cozy through the winter. Now I'm off to shop for socks, hehe. read more

I was surprised like a lot of people to find out Abbot's Pizza had changed hands after not eating pizza for a few months. My old app not working was a clue but after finding their new site with a good backstory, we ended up ordering 5 large pies. Delivery wasnt long especially since it was a Friday evening. Even quicker than I'd remembered during peak hours, they did miss one pizza but figured it out shortly afterward-they were very apologetic and resolved it quickly. Taste wise: We had 18 people over, nearly half representing the northeastern seaboard and nobody was getting New York New Haven pizza vibes from this. Taste is subjective so it's up to anybody who's curious to check out this pizza for themselves but IMO the crust wasn't impressive, the flavors were pretty flat and we ordered several different flavors, including meat and vegan options. I'm bummed since this is within walking distance and it was a staple. It's probably annoying for the owners to be constantly compared to the previous business (BTW, I don't care if it's an old or new business, I just want good pizza) BUT It might be a good idea for the new owners to either study the previous crusts and topping combinations or just change the name completely so people aren't comparing a pizza place with the same name in the same location but is now selling very different tasting pizza. read more

Cheese and sauce ratio was good. The reason this pizza is getting 2 stars is because of how floppy, almost soggy it was. We literally couldn't pick up a piece without it completely flopping and being difficult to eat, there was almost negative crisp. Even after trying our toaster oven, the crust gets ZERO crisp. Really disappointed with this place under the new management. I drove nearly 25 miles because this USED TO BE a great spot. Their posted hours say they're open until 11pm, and I arrived two hours before closing. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt unwelcoming. No smile, no greeting, no effort to assist. That's when I was told that "new management/owners" have staff close the pizzeria as soon at it slows down, regardless of posted hours. When I mentioned how misleading and inconvenient that is, I got a shrug and was told "the hours online are wrong." No apology. No acknowledgment. No basic courtesy. It genuinely felt like i was a nuisance for being there. There was zero hospitality, enthusiasm, or neighborhood warmth, just an uncomfortable, dismissive interaction. Sadly, that attitude perfectly reflects what the new ownership has done to the place. It feels like the business was bought as an investment, not a passion project. Instead of preserving what made Abbott Pizza special, it now feels like everything is being run off a spreadsheet: fewer menu options, removed favorites, and a vibe that's corporate, tired, and uninspired. Culture gone. Soul gone. Magic gone. They've already removed so many pizzas that gave this place character, including the signature items that people actually came here for. When you strip down the menu and cheapen the experience, you lose the heart of the place. For contrast: I walked into another nearby pizzeria right afterward and was warmly greeted, treated kindly, and helped immediately. Same night, same situation, completely different experience. That alone says everything about how far and fast Abbott Pizza Company has declined.
