Came back here for some morning pastries since we didn't want a full breakfast. Line wasn't too bad at all and they move very quickly here. It's hard not to order everything! You can enjoy them at one of the many tables outside (they are on the 3rd level) or go downstairs to seating there inside the International Market Place. The pastries were a little hit or miss like last time again. My favorite was the onion roll which is like a green onion hot dog bun. So fresh and soft! But the haupia malasada on the other hand was so dry and tasted stale, and barely any filling! This place was recommended by some foodies we watched on YT and everything looked so yummy on the screen that we decided to go give it a try during our recent visit. This is a nice new looking, modern, casual, bakery cafe style restaurant located on the top floor of the International Market Place. What we liked was that there is indoor seating available as well as outdoor seating. Since we prefer fresh air dining, we requested a table outside. Right after walking in the front door, you pass by a very colorful yummilicious bakery display that's very hard to not stop and just look, but we had already decided we'd come re-visit this bakery on our way out. Anyway, immediately past the bakery was where the restaurant's hostess greeted us and led us to our table....very nice, friendly, polite.....with a smile on her face....which was nice. Once at our table, our server showed up shortly after, equally nice, friendly, and polite....handed us the menu. It didn't take long to decide what we wanted as we were so in the mood for their breakfast offerings..at this later supper hour. At first, we couldn't decide on the Mac Nut Waffle & Chicken Karaage or the Mac Nut Waffard.....so, we asked our server for her suggestions....and ended up ordering both!...and we were so glad we did. Both dishes hot and fresh out of the kitchen, and oh so satisfying and comforting....and not as sweet as we had expected, which was good. Came here for breakfast after the valet at SPK next door suggested breakfast here. I'd only been once before for pastries, which wasn't that great IMO. Since it was so close we decided to check it out. Well what do you know. The breakfast is bomb! I had the garlic fried, eggs with spam. It even came with a little mini salad which I ate cuz why not. This combo was more nostalgic to my younger days, it's definitely comfort food. Generous serving will leave you walking out slowly. My friend had the Mac Nut Waffard which left her speechless. She added an extra side of whipped cream which tasted like coconut- it was definitely bringing the aloha. We arrived early around 7-8am and seating outside was no issue. It was nice to be there while it was still quiet - just the little birds around hoping for a stray morsel or two. Food was so good we ate here 3 mornings in a row. To me, Liliha Bakery in Hawaii is the equivalent of Junior's in New York. They're both sit down restaurants with sizable menus, good food, and even better baked goods which are really their signature products. I've been to this location twice so far and enjoyed both visits. They're family-friendly and super accommodating. For food, I highly recommend the regular loco moco, pork belly loco moco, and oxtail soup. And come hungry because the portion sizes are huge! The baked goods are a hit or miss. I'm not sure how long the place has been around, but it feels fresh, modern, and spacious. I had the eggs with Portuguese sausage, while my friend ordered the Loco Moco with smoked pork belly -- which he described as an "OMG moment." My eggs were perfectly cooked, and the Portuguese sausage was flavorful. Unfortunately, the fried potatoes were a complete miss -- undercooked and chewy to the point that not even ketchup or Tabasco could save them. Today was my first visit to their waikiki location and it did not disappoint! I'm unsure how long the waffard (waffle custard) has been on the menu, but it was the perfect early morning breakfast with coffee! This liliha bakery location is definitely shinier than the others, but has a nice indoor and outdoor area, which offers a nice change compared to the usually bustle y diner feel of the original. Definitely easy to have a large group here, but they had a line by about 8:30am, so I'd prepare for that if you're not an early riser. The service was quick and friendly, and parking the international marketplace lot is comped for the first hour with validation. Definitely will be back to snag pastries if we're in the area! We ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi, Chicken Karaage, Miso Butterfish, 10oz Prime Rib and Guava Plantation Iced Tea. They gave us complimentary biscuits which were warm and absolutely delicious! The miso butterfish was on point! Super flaky and flavorful. The prime rib was a little more cooked than requested but it tasted good. The mahi mahi was not bad but I prefer the butterfish more. The chicken karaage would be my least favorite dish. It wasn't crispy and it was cold. I loved the guava iced tea. It was perfect for quenching my thirst. Claims to have "freshly baked" bread... they're made early in the morning, I wanna say around 6am and sell into the night until closing, which is 10pm. The management really sucks. Bad customer service. When you get there in a busy/rush hour, they expect you to grab a ticket but they barely use that thing. I waited with my family while the ladies behind the counter talk amongst themselves to finally notice us. Server Emily had a really bad attitude. She didn't even welcome us or greeted us when we walked in. Seems like they just hire anyone.. Rush hour is around 6pm-7pm. Not that busy. You usually see the same people everyday. Food at the restaurant... the prime rib isn't even a prime rib. New York and shrimp is too expensive for a very thin not deveined shrimps. I like my steak med rare but the last time I ordered it, they cooked it very medium well & so I got it taken back to the cook to get another one but a manager named Geraldine stepped in and said they'd have to charge me twice if I wanted another one. I'm a local and this was really unfortunate. Will never come back here due to the lack of customer service. read more

Always remember to bring home their famous puffs before leaving Hawaii. I also tried their poi donuts years ago, but I didn't taste much poi since it was sweet. It was chewy like mochi donuts. It was busy in the morning for a diner and a bakery. I had my last breakfast of Spam Omelette with a scoop of garlic fried rice and Guava Plantation Iced Tea a few hours before I headed back to San Jose. The Spam Omelette was packed with bell peppers, onions, and green onions. The garlic fried rice was delicious. Guava Plantation Tea was more like guava juice mixed with black tea. You can't find this type of breakfast on the mainland, not even in their Hawaiian restaurants. The service was alright despite a 20-minute wait. I love the atmosphere of this location. They have a nice display of baked goods, from cakes to pastries and buns. After breakfast, I bought half a dozen Coco Puffs. It didn't melt much during my five-hour flight, and it's best to store it for three days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. read more

There are a few Liliha Bakery across Honolulu in highly trafficked areas. This one is on the upper level of International Marketplace mall and has a vast and bustling outdoor patio. You enter through the bakery first, which means that the entrance tends to be crowded as there's people waiting to be seated for the restaurant, people browsing pre packed baked goods against one wall, and people waiting in line for other pastries. The service at the bakery is disorganized, chaotic, and with not the most pleasant service. However, the popular cream puffs are good. I tried all four of them and enjoyed them, although some notably more than others. My favorite turned out to be one that wasn't marked as popular: chocolate outside with white cream on the inside. I overall wouldn't go out of my way for any of the cream puffs though. Their loco moco was amazing! I think the best I've ever had, and I can see why people rave about this dish. I haven't had loco moco like this in the mainland. The perfect texture of the gravy, not too salty tasting, the grilled patties with crispy outside, the eggs cooked perfectly to your liking (I requested over medium). The rice cooked perfectly as well. Everything came together, and this is definitely a dish I will crave. Their complimentary butter rolls were also great! Very satisfying texture (crispy outside and soft inside and oh so buttery). I didn't like or need the artificial cherry syrupy sauce at all, although my husband was ok with it. read more

I came across this bakery walking around and thought about sitting down having brunch but was just more so interested in just the pastries. The bakery is located at the top. There's escalators and if you locate the elevator it's probably best to take that as it is the closet to the bakery. Also tip, if you have a vehicle there's parking. When I asked how long the wait would be for a party of three, I was told "10 minutes" and then directed to sign into the waitlist. My husband and I stopped by Liliha Bakery randomly one day because he was curious to try it, and we ended up loving it so much we went three times, even twice in one day! Even though it's not an ocean-side restaurant, the outdoor setting still gave us that laid-back island atmosphere we were hoping for. The menu is huge and there is truly something for everyone. My go-to order (I got it twice!) was the Garlic Fried Rice and Eggs ($20.95), and I have to say it was the best garlic rice I've ever had. The garlic flavor was intense in the best way, and it even seasoned my over-medium eggs perfectly. So satisfying! The first time we visited, I also ordered the Portuguese sausage just to try something new. It had a rich, smoky flavor; though, full disclosure: my husband ended up eating three out of my five pieces because he liked it even more than I did. On our last visit, I tried the Chicken Teriyaki with Pineapple ($22.95). It was a solid meal, but not quite as memorable as the garlic rice dish. My husband also craved their food each time and ordered the New York Steak and Eggs ($23.95) TWICE, and also tried the Smoked Pork Belly and Eggs ($23.95). As you can probably tell, he enjoyed the steak here. The pork was great, but not as good as the steak, in his opinion.
