It felt like an old school diner. This place is popular with the locals and there weren't many tourists at this establishment. As you walk in, there is a large counter with stools to the right. Simply find an available seat and wait for one of the staff to take your order. I had the country style omelet which is one of their best sellers. It's scrambled eggs with onions, tomatoes and your choice of meat (I chose the Portuguese sausage). I paid extra for cheese and fried potatoes. It was good, but very greasy. I ate it all because I just finished hiking Diamond Head and was very hungry. The butter rolls were excellent- soft and pillowy on the inside and nicely toasted on the outside. Service at the main food counter wasn't rude, but not friendly either. I wasn't greeted with a hello and was asked if I had already ordered. They also did not provide me water and I had to ask for it a little later. The male customer to the left of me received water without asking and got his food first and ordered more than me. The male customer to the right of me also received water upon sitting and got more servings of butter rolls. To the left is the bakery. I ordered two cream puffs to go - one with plain cream and the other with matcha filling. There was too much filling and the pastries did not taste fresh. The staff at the bakery counter was much more pleasant, friendlier and appreciative. read more

Stopped in to pick up a few sweet treats and loved them! They have a fantastic array of baked goods, from your standard donuts and muffins to croissants and danishes. However, some unique options I recommend trying are the mochi donuts and my personal favorite, the coco puff. It's a puffed pastry with cold chocolate cream in the middle and your choice of topping ex coconut, green tea, etc. While I didn't take advantage of the diner side, there is a counter where you can sit and eat a regular meal. The cream team The bakery is on one side and the cafe is on the right side. I only came for the sweets. Lilikoi masalada was good. Poi mochi donut was not bad, very light in flavor and will probably not get again. The stars of the show were the cream puffs. Original, matcha, and coco puffs were all delicious. The dollops on top of the puffs almost have like a butterscotch flavor, very interesting! Restroom is outside by parking and codes are needed. read more

Came here for breakfast and it gave me the much needed old school Hawaii sentimental vibe that I crave whenever I visit the island. They're always busy but it's soooooo worth the wait. My favorite spot to eat is in one of the kitchen booths because you get to see the inside of the bakery in action. I LOVE Liliha. I normally try to go to different places every time I'm back in Hawaii but Liliha is always a must every time. Their Puffs and Chantilly cream are phenomenal. Puffs: 10/10. Soft, amazing, would get it many times over. I'm sad it's not easy to bring back to the mainland Mochi donut: 7/10. Good but nothing memorable Chantilly cake: 6/10. I didn't love the Chantilly cake which is what they're popular for but that's because I don't like chocolate that much. I came here for the loco moco fix for takeout, but left with a box of coco puffs, a poi mochi donut and an azuki turnover. The loco moco with garlic fried rice and the definitely did not disappoint, but I think I expected more from the pastries. The butter roll that came with the loco moco was bomb! This place was great right from the beginning. Parking was easy access. Seating is at the counter, which reminded me of a small town diner back in my childhood. Service was great. Food was tasty. Portions were pretty good size. I had the loco moco with plain rice and eggs over easy. Yum! My husband had the beef stew. The potato mac salad was maybe the third kind we have tried on this trip, but probably the best. Their meals come with their fluffy dinner rolls crisped with butter and served with jelly that just melt in your mouth. Overall great meal on real dishes that came to less than $20 a person. Their burgers must be yummy because they served up quite a few while we were there. We took some pastries to go. I don't like poi, but the poi donut was delicious. Ordered a half sheet coco puff cake, it is in-fact exactly that. A cake board of 48 coco puffs, binded together with thick sheet of delicious and sweet chantilly. We asked for writing only, and since the birthday theme was dinosaurs, my niece insist on decorating her own cake using her dinosaur figurines. It was so easy to serve, many of our guests were surprised when they realized it wasn't an actual cake. Price of the cake was $116.xx, which I felt was a good deal considering we served 48 pieces. After a visit to Kuakini Hospital this morning, we decided to stop here for breakfast. It was crowded and we had a short wait to secure a counter seat at the bakery. It took awhile to get the attention of an employee. It was very busy. We placed our order and I took the break in time to peruse the bakery side for goodies. Our orders came out quickly. Our coffee and water cups were timely refilled by our sweet server. The ultimate berries & nuts short stack pancakes are GINORMOUS! I took before and after pictures. I couldn't finish it at all. My hubby ordered the garlic fried rice & eggs with spam. He enjoyed it and I tasted it as well. Lots of garlic flavor. A bit too oily for my taste buds. The counters were cleanish. A bit wet from the recent wiping. My napkin was stuck to the counter lol. The bakery and eating area is well lit. Things we ate here: OG Loco Moco + Corned Beef - delicious, and was much better than the ones I've had in the US mainland...I did not expect there to be a difference but it was evident Green onion bread- delicious, and I preferred this one over the ones they have in various Chinese bakeries Mochi donut - delicious, far superior to places like Mochinut Mochi bites - delicious Lilikoi malasada- delicious and much better than Leonard's, Ube bread - tastes like a regular dinner roll I think almost everything here was worth the try, besides the ube bread. Anyways, highly recommended. Only issue is that, it's almost always packed and it doesn't have many diner seats. Go earlier in the morning and you might be able to sit in the diner. read more

Old school diners are great. There are several Liliha locations but you can never beat the original location with a Diner counter, food and service. This Liliha location is the best hands down with fresh good tasting food, lower priced than the other locations and friendly ohana service. The great thing about the counter seating is that as people leave many of the patrons are kind enough to move over to create space for larger parties to sit. Another reason why eating with the locals makes visiting Hawaii so great instead of eating where there are lots of tourists. The true locals are welcoming and considerate. I was going to order the fried rice, Portuguese sausage and potato Mac aka carte but the woman helping me let know that ordering the breakfast plate with the potato Mac on the side would cost me a lot less. I ordered a breakfast to go with scrambled eggs and Portuguese sausage with fried rice, it also came with a butter roll and lilikoi jelly. Liliha makes a potato macaroni salad so I ordered one to go too. It's the best on the island so I went back and bought another container. I might look like a potato now This Liliha's is the best, stop in for some comfort food, good pastries and an Ohana vibe. You definitely have to try the iconic Coco Puff pastry. read more

The food came out super fast and everything was seasoned so well. The Loco Moco came with white rice, gravy, and eggs - hands down one of most favorite meal ever. The 3 of us going all had different favorites, so order your preference of flavors when it comes to choosing between the cream puff types. We asked the staff about their malasadas, which they said sell out quickly when they open up in the morning (6am or so); will have to try to venture out early and try to get some! I wish I took pictures of it but I will definitely be back to buy them again. The new things I've tried, Green tea Croissant. This was soo good. This location of Liliha is like an old school diner with just a few counter seats available and separate bakery section. It really is a great breakfast or lunch spot with great prices. I came directly off a flight from the airport and popped in for some Saimin, but the pancakes here are also great. Get some malasadas or pour mochi donuts on your way out, they're fantastic. read more

My go to has been the Loco Moco, as I enjoy the char broil on the hamburger meat on their flame grill. The hamburger meat tasted different as if it is not 100% beef. We have gone there since i was a child but the old filipino woman who last assisted us at the counter was so unbelievably rude that I can not bring myself to go there anymore. She talked in her language both loudly and under her breath while assisting us, snickered a lot at us while also just being cold and rude. When I went back in to return it, she was cleaning the front door and she gave me an attitude about opening it and walking through. Mauros' service left a lot to be desired. He dropped the check before we even finished our entrées. When I mentioned we'd like dessert, he told us we couldn't order it through him -- but when we went to the dessert counter, the staff there said we could've ordered at our table. We also had to ask for our dinner plates to be cleared before eating dessert. It was obvious he was talking about us to another server, which was uncomfortable.
