This place has been open for over a year now and I can't believe this is the first time I've tried it. We came on a Friday night and I was able to get a reservation just hours before for 9pm. They close at 10pm, but the place was still lively when we arrived. There were people eating outside on the patio and sounded like a lot upstairs. The bar area had a downtown vibe and we were seated downstairs. Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes for them to set the table. Our server did not know the menu well, but no worries as we knew what we wanted. We started with the spicy tuna tartar and it was amazing! The quail egg was a nice touch, but the portion was very small. For my roll, I had the spicy salmon roll, which was a nice change of pace from the spicy tuna you see at most places. The roll was excellent and the wasabi tobiko put this roll over the top for me. The spicy tuna crispy rice was awesome and this was a bigger portion than I expected. Had a nice experience. Booked it off Resy which worked perfectly. Super cozy atmosphere, nice and quiet, good date place. I would have to say the Spicy Scallop Handroll ($10) was by far the best thing, 5-stars on that one. I would definitely go with that. The Miso soup ($3 each) was good, and we got 3 rolls, the Samurai (excellent, tasty and crunchy), Spicy Rainbow, and Dragon rolls. Both of the latter were good enough but not really special IMHO. Amount of sushi and flavor were nothing to be impressed by. I ordered salmon sashimi for the little one and they were pretty standard salmon slices. I love both locations of Lily Sushi. This one seems to be larger than the Maxwell location, as it has an upstairs level also. The vibe is nice and modern (used to be the old Dua Vietnamese location). The food here is always great. I typically get some of the specialty rolls. They are always high quality. They do have a lunch special, but the rolls are more basic. Service is solid also. This was one of the best omakase experiences I have ever had. Many restaurants simply source high-quality fish, prepare standard nigiri, and serve. Here, they go far beyond that. The menu showcases exceptional fish as well as a thoughtful progression of unique and inventive dishes. We began with fatty tuna topped with caviar and roe. The rich, buttery texture of the tuna melted instantly, while the briny pop of the caviar and roe sharpened the flavor and created a beautifully balanced bite. A spicy yellowtail served on a fried leaf followed, along with a sequence of premium selections including fatty tuna belly, flounder, and salmon. The surprises continued. Fried lobster appeared as a course, something I have never encountered in a traditional omakase. They also served a wagyu beef cut, another unexpected and luxurious inclusion. One of the most distinctive dishes was sweet shrimp served head-on, a preparation widely found in Japan yet rarely offered in the United States. Its presence here demonstrated both authenticity and culinary ambition. Based on comparable experiences, I would have estimated the price to fall between $200 and $300. The fact that the entire tasting was only $115 makes this one of the best dining values I have encountered. This restaurant easily rivals, if not surpasses, many of the top establishments in Atlanta and beyond. read more

The Lily team has done a wonderful job of reimagining the space that Dua left behind, utilizing both first and second floor seating, a wide-open bar, and space to walk through. They did a nice job using the floor-to-ceiling windows and furnishings to create an airy but cozy dining experience. I am hopeful they use the outdoor space as well. Though a new location, there is no compromise to the quality and variety of food. If you're not familiar with Lily, it's upscale service and presentation (drinks, too) in a beautifully appointed space. Lily is my favorite upscale sushi in this area. They're still working through their efficiencies at this location so I would expect slower than normal dining experience. At least, it was yesterday, but the service was still nice. :) Also, do yourself a favor and make reservations. read more

Lily is hands down the best sushi OTP North and this newer location in Crabapple doesn't disappoint! It has the same phenomenal menu & service as the downtown Alpharetta location. This building is bigger, with a second story, which is nice. It's also brighter and more open. I think I prefer the darker, cozier vibe of the other location but this one is lovely too. We ordered the hand rolls (my favorite!) and they were delicious. The salmon skin & yellow tail hand rolls are my favorite and I highly recommend you try them. read more

Great atmosphere, a little in the louder side. We went at 7 pm on Friday night. Wished they had a little more salmon items on the menu and some varied rolls with different flavors. Had a lot of tuna and crab. The crispy rice tuna roll was our favorite! Great service, great cocktails! Sushi seemed a bit over priced for the value - by value not talking about quality. Fish quality seemed great, was more about the curating of it (textured and flavors). We definitely had a great meal though and will be back! My wife and I have been a couple of times and love the sushi, but on our last visit we ordered the black cod and filet mignon. The fish was literally the size of my palm (maybe smaller) and as flat. The steak had more onions and mushrooms than steak. (the portion of the steak was again very minimal and cubed) I wasn't looking for huge portions but for the price we were very unhappy. For an entree you would think it at least would be accompanied by rice. Again the sushi is very good but I do feel the entrees are a rip off. read more

This is probably the third place around the same area that I am writing a review for. Yet it illustrates how good they are as well. I went to Lily Sushi Bar twice already: first time to celebrate my mother's birthday, the second time is just going out to dinner with the rest of the family. My brother in law mentioned that he would eat at Lily's everyday if he could. If that's not high praise, I don't know what is. But he's not wrong. When you first walk in, you immediately notice that the interior doesn't resemble a Japanese restaurant at all, let alone a sushi bar. It resembles more of a nice restaurant that could be anything. They have both outdoor and indoor seating with a downstairs and upstairs for the inside. Our server was the same on both occasions and he remembered us, even it's been almost a year since we've been there the first time. And he took care of our order and needs well. Not only did they have great sushi, but they serve other items as well. My brother in law and I both got Hamachi Kama or Yellowfin Collar (highly recommended)! And their drinks are just as good. Modern-ish, but comfortable, with lighting that is bright during the day and classy at night. A comprehensive and authentic menu, inspired by some of the most popular and traditional Japanese restaurants around the world. Execution that is indicative of a well run back-of-the-house. Excellent cocktails. Exceptionally warm and efficient service. Everyone is welcoming and kind. Prices, though not inexpensive, are reasonable considering quality. The only problem at Lily is getting a reservation. Lily is so popular that you'd best reserve as far in advance as you can. With nearly 1000 reviews given, Lily is one of my few 5-star reviews. My wife and I ordered a specialty Nigiri, Otoro sashimi, two specialty rolls and one classic roll. Everything came out at once. Towards the end I bit on something very hard l, up right in the specialty roll and showed it to the waitress. Told her I didn't want to make a big deal of it and to mention it to the chefs (so it would not happen again to other guests). A few minutes later it happened again with the Otoro sashimi. The skin and meat was visibly attached and while the restaurant didn't seem to believe my first issue, there was no refuting it this time. They did remove the Otoro from the bill. Was a bit surprised they were so casual with how they handled it, given it happened twice in about 5 minutes. Management didn't say a word but the waitress was very apologetic. I live less than 10 minutes from their dt Alpharetta location. We love that location and have been going since it opened several years back. We consider it the pinnacle of sushi in the area but felt grossed out from our experience in crabapple and will not be returning to crabaple. Overall extremely disappointed with this location. As a final note, we did appreciate the space and windows in the crabapple location compared to dt Alpharetta but that will not suffice considering the experience. Lastly, the reviews I read prior to coming to crabapple location seemed to focus on service. I will give them credit. We had a 6:45 reservation and were seated immediately (on a Friday night). Our waitress was superb. She checked on us without being intrusive. I have nothing negative to say about the service other than the meal preparation itself. Not only is the product impeccable, the service is equally impressive. As this was my first time at the Milton location, I was happy to see some of the veteran sushi chefs and other familiar faces that I've come to respect at the original location. I never write bad reviews, but this place is terrible. I started off by telling my waiter I am celiac (no gluten) so he knew to make special accommodations and make the kitchen aware. We ordered 2 speciality rolls. When it finally came out about an hour later, I took my first few bites, only to find out they brought out the wrong order and I had just ingested fried tempura which has gluten in it. Of course I was upset because I could get sick, and the waiter told me I had "nothing to worry about" ?? Anyways he didn't comp that roll and the owner didn't even come out to apologize or make sure I was okay. Truly I have no idea what this owner is doing. While we were eating, the table behind us had their incorrect order brought out. And someone's carry out order was wrong and we watched them have to come all the way back to get a missing part of the order. The place is severely understaffed and chaotic. The wagyu was good, besides that everything else gets a 0/10 and we will not be back. read more

Tried this new sushi restaurant for lunch in downtown Crabapple. Love that we have a new restaurant option in Crabapple and really impressed with this restaurant overall! First, the service was excellent - our waitress was attentive, informative about the menu and we promptly got our food and constantly coming back to clear dishes and provide refills. The food was very good - we tried a few different sushi dishes and each one was very fresh and well prepared and tasted great! The ambience of the restaurant was very good - great decor within.
