I'm eating here as I type this. I am traveling for work and lily's was across the street from my client's office so I wandered in. The place is tiny but their presence is huge. Lily, Paul and company were calling everyone by name and welcoming them as if they were having them over their house. You can definitely feel the love - it's created such a warm environment. The salad and soup I got were deliciously prepared and served quickly - two key factors in a lunch spot. What made my visit unforgettable was when I was paying for my meal and I was a dollar and change short (I didn't realize it was cash only) and Paul refused to take anything off my order. I asked again that they remove my drink, however Paul insisted the $10 I had was enough. Please tell me WHERE else this would happen these days? Lilly's Café might be small, but it is the best little place in Burbank! Lilly is fantastic! She makes you feel like she personally put a little love in each meal. Lily's is a great place to have lunch. You can't go wrong with any of her sandwiches or gourmet salads. I would recommend the tuna on rosemary bread or the black forest ham sandwich. It is possible I have not been there enough however I went there for lunch in June and was quite impressed. I ordered a sandwich with a side salad and loved it. Lily's cafe is hands down the BEST cafe in Burbank. Sandwiches, soups, salads, desserts. She keeps everything simple, delicious and leaving your tummy craving more! Recently transitioned to vegetarianism and it's been an extremely easy thanks to this little gem. Order ahead if you have a short lunch break or be prepared to be late! This place is cute. Small and cozy. And Lily is really sweet and gives great costumer service. Just avoid lunch hours because it can be packed. However, i am not impressed by the sandwiches. It was a plain ol' sandwich you make at home. bread, deli, cheese, veggies. I was expecting the bread to be warmed up (it was so hard to bite and chew, i thought I seriously was about to lose a tooth) and the cheese to be melted and yummy sauces or seasoning or just that extra oomph that you want from a sandwich. but it just tasted like the ones I make at home. If you want a sandwich, just go to sprouts market nearby itll be way bigger and fulfilling and much much cheaper. I LOVE LILY's! The food here is home made & fresh every day! It's healthy and really tasty. It's small but I like that, and it feels like a little neighborhood New York cafe... a little urban culture in Burbank! I eat here a lot now, and often order off-the-menu. this place is a cute cozy little restaurant...it reminded me of my old college hangout in Fullerton...I've heard that it's hard to get a table here during lunch rush ( which is understandable...the place is teeny-tiny! ). So we got there around noon, luckily it wasnt busy yet. I ordered the black forest ham sandwich on wheat and the house ice tea....i never liked iced tea until i had theirs....it was AMAZING~!!...it didnt have a bitter aftertaste and it's mixed with fresh orange juice..,wow! It was sooo good. ( And the BEST part? Free refills, YAY!! ) The sandwich was perfect...I'm a small eater, so the sandwich looked big and it had plenty of lettuce, tomato peppers and just the right amount of vinaigrette, mayo and mustard. It's like having your (health-conscious) aunt make you a sandwich, it was wholesome. As we were leaving we noticed that there were people outside waiting...whew! I like that they have good vegetarian options and are flexible with vegan options for some salads. I do not like the way they package their to go food. I have a greasy paper bag of soup and a puddle of liquid in my plastic bag from my lentil salad. I wasn't tossing my bag around so it shouldn't be such a giant mess. I would have at least appreciated a warning that I need to hold my salad box even so as not to spill any liquid. And minus a star for being cash only. The food is pretty decent and reasonably healthy. I would rather pay less for a realistic portion in the salad department, but oh well. read more

Lily's is delicious! If you want an amazing sandwich or a delicious homemade bowl of soup, then this is the place to come! The only downside is that this spot is tiny, so your best bet may be to order something to go, because snagging a table at lunchtime can be difficult. If I were ever able to open up a cafe, I would want to be just like Lily. First of all, she is amazing! She really does do it all, from cashier-ing, to waitress-ing, to bus boy (girl?)-ing. I have been going to Lilys Cafe since it opened about 17 years ago. I think that says it all but I will tell you about some of my favorites: Turkey Chili is filled with large pieces of ground turkey and she adds a slice of Swiss and red onions (Lily's style), red lentil with grilled onions, chicken soup, carrot soup. White Tuna salad is large with lots of veggies, lentil salad with small chopped veggies. A case filled with yummy desserts. Lily always serves with a smile. Friendly, Cozy, and delicious.The only part I didn't like was that it was small, but that's probably why it's Cozy and Friendly. The owner/Waitress is hands on, very attentive even during peak hours she gets to everyone. The portions are huge, I ordered 1/2 soup , 1/2 sandwich (they come on toasted oval shape bread). By the time I was done with the soup (turkey chilli amazing) I couldn't finish my sandwich (got the Grilled veggie).
