Let me start by saying, "Hi, Lily!" Hope you are well! I used to live in Burbank & when Lily's Cafe opened, it was the best thing ever! I was at this yummy, fresh-food serving cafe almost on a daily basis. When I moved to Orange County, I even told Lily I wanted to open up a Lily's Cafe here! Instead, everytime I had the opportunity, I would make my way up there. I have recommended this cafe over & over. Fresh, fresh, fresh! That's what stands out in my mind. This is possibly my favorite place in Burbank. The food is fantastic -- I love the turkey on ciabatta or tuna on wheat. The soups are delicious as well, and the cool, tangy sweet tea is not to be missed. Last week I had some killer zucchini bread, too. I could wish for longer hours and more tables, but that might require that someone else run it in addition to Lily, and the personal, cozy feel is part of it. She asks after my mother every time I'm in there. Is there a better feeling than being a regular? This is a perfect place to become one. read more

I went here on the basis of Yelp reviews. It's a cute little cafe. Small, tucked away, but a view of the road outside. This is the type of place for people who like to be known regulars of a restaurant. Lily is friendly in a very New York kind of way (which can be off-putting to many). I like the atmosphere, and I like her. But it gets 3 stars because I find the food mediocre. Despite having some cool bread options (olive bread, after all, sounds great), the sandwiches are really just run-of-the-mill but pretty expensive. I don't know how else to term this but to say I left very underwhelmed by the food experience for the price. So to boil it down, you should probably check out Lily's to see if it's your cup of tea. If you like going into a place where the person behind the counter knows your "usual," this may be a place you want to frequent. If you're looking for something better than very standard sandwich fare -- and as much as I really hate to it as I'd prefer to support small places -- corner bakery or somewhere else is a better option. read more

What a charming small café. It's easy to miss from the street. I had the soup & sandwich combo. Vegetable soup tasted very homemade with tons of veggies. The Grilled Vegetable Sandwich was very fresh. I washed it down with sweetened tea. This all added up to a very satisfying meal. Reasonable price too. read more

One of my favorite lunch spots in Burbank. The chicken soup is my favorite and the sandwiches come with a tasty twist. I don't think I have eaten something here that I didn't love. The food is fresh, no doubt about that. I had the hot pastrami sandwich with a cup (read: bowl) of chili. The bread was nicely toasted and there was pastrami within, garnished with [raw] red onions, mayo, and mustard. The chili, while abundant, was fairly bland. I would have preferred a bit more seasoning. The real crowd-pleaser here is the sweet tea. It's an iced tea with fruity undertones. Refreshing and delicious, like other teas, but this one doesn't leave your mouth dry. I actually came here with a co-worker on the basis that this iced tea was the best she'd ever had. It's definitely up there! Cash only, so make sure you've got the green. And it's pretty small inside, with one 5 top, one 3 top, two couples, and a bar with 3-4 stools. read more

I walked in sick looking for some Chicken Noodle Soup.....I walked out with a Chicken Noodle Soup, Turkey Chili, and a Pastrami Sandwich.....that was to go...while I waited I ate a blueberry white chocolate cake. Being sick usually your taste buds don't work that well but let me tell you my taste buds were dancing. The spice in chili was well balanced with the turkey, the pastrami was juicy and delicious, not made of plastic like most places, and the chicken noodle soup got me better on the spot. Do go and try the S'mores bar. It's AMAZING and unlike anything else I've ever had. The cafe is also adorable and you can tell the owner puts her heart and soul into it. In a small, unassuming location next to a nail salon with neon blue lit windows, Lily's Cafe is all too easy to drive by without a passing glance, but you sure wouldn't want to. Adorned in country french style, Lily's may be short on space, not to mention seating, but it sure has plenty to offer. While the menu is not extensive, it's perfect for those in search of a quick, healthy lunch prepared with quality, fresh ingredients as though made from your own home. Now, I shop at Trader Joe's regularly and I'm convinced I ate the very things in my kitchen. No joke. I thought I saw Trader Joe's bags leave with a customer... From fresh soups, salads and sandwiches to the selection of cakes, pastries and coffee drinks, Lily's has your appetite covered. I highly recommend the Vegetarian Sandwich on olive bread (or rosemary, if you're so inclined). Probably one of the best veggie sammies I've ever had! Thanks to the generous slice of brie cheese complemented by the avocado, spouts, mixed greens and tomato. The Vegetable Soup is also good because it's chocked full of vegetables in a tomato broth. I felt so wonderful afterwards, I just had to see what was up for dessert. Too full for cake? Nah, have your cake and eat it too with the Berry Cake with whipped cream frosting. So incredibly light, it's like eating a cloud. All the desserts looked wonderful, I had a difficult time deciding. My only complaint? Sweet Tea didn't live up to my expectations (too diluted with water, perhaps a bad batch) and the confusion over whether to order at the counter or just take a seat in anticipation of being waited on. I think both are fine. We sat down and Lily herself became our waitress, but it wasn't busy at the time. Once we left, it got pretty crowded, so best bet would be to order up front. So I went to this little cafe for the first time today for lunch and I was blown away by the simplicity and sheer amazingness of the food. All the ingredients are fresh and the soups are home-made you can just taste the freshness. While you can go to some chain like panera or corner bakery this little cafe offers so much more when it comes to some real good fresh food, even those chains that promote fresh healthy wholesome food tastes processed, not so here. The prices are low making the food a steal for the quality, taste and amount that you get. However, there are some negatives to this great find, the cafe is only open on weekdays and only from 7:30-4 in the afternoon but what do you expect when they sell soup, salads and sandwiches? Also the place is very small and seating is limited and tight and yet that;s not going to stop me from going back. Try it, you won't regret it! read more

No parking, no credit or debit cards, but AMAZING and simple food. Lunch, dessert, and coffee were all delish! Definitely will go again!! Went at 11:30 and there was plenty of seating, but by noon it was packed. Service is a bit slower when they're busy too, so probably not the place to go if you're in a hurry. read more

I haven't been there for couple of years now because I decided not to give my business to them due to owner's rudeness. I never wrote the review for them but since it effected me I think I should. I had gone there multiple times but it was first time for my husband. Food is usually good but sometimes hit and miss. My husband loves iced tea and he liked theirs. Dare he asked for a refill. She loudly told him that refills aren't free and you have to pay next time. He got very embarrassed since it's a tiny place and everyone hears you. We wouldn't have mind paying for it. If we spent 50 dollars on couple of soup and sandwiches, I don't think few extra dollars would have broken us. Delivery and service is everything to me and she fails at that. I hadn't been to Lily's for a while now and so I thought I'd go back today. I called my order in for pickup and I went into instant shock when I heard a man's voice on the other end! I thought for a moment the place had been sold and I almost freaked out! It turns out Lily and her daughter were in Paris and she left the men in charge! (Husband and adorable son). Today I had the tuna sandwich. Delicious! Her husband recommended I get it on Rosemary bread and he was right! He also suggested the Beet & Asparagus salad. I didn't know it would be a full size even though it was half of their full size. Make sense? I'm saving the salad for later.... but I did take a bite and yummmmm....... All of Lily's salads and sandwiches are always so fresh. It's never like eating a regular ol' sandwich. The tuna is just how I like it...lots of celery and NO relish! And I love the little peppercino's they add on the side. Hope Lily is enjoying her trip. The menfolk are doing a great job! I recommend always calling ahead if you are going to pick up. I wouldn't ever go here again. Call in an order and specifically say no dressing but they don't tell you they already mixed in dressing. Go to pick up the order and then Lilly (yes herself) says that dressings for her daily salads are always mixed and assures me it is light. It was so heavy as that is all you tasted was her dressing. But the best is her non-consistent policy on taking credit cards. Two weeks ago the minimum was $25 and this week when I went to pay she says $50. I called her on it because obviously she wants to try and be a cash based buisness. She comes up with some excuse that it used to be as high as $50. If that is the case then just come right out and say cash only. I think its a matter of what she wants to have as charged sales and what she wants as cash.
