This restaurant is one of the gems in Oakland. It's in a place that has plenty of garages around for safe and secure parking, it's in a location that has a lively upscale vibe for young professionals, and has a chic and modern feel to the decor that honors the peruvian roots of this chain. The food is presented in a very compelling way, and the flavors are authentic with an upscale modern twist. The music is a touch loud, but that could be part of the young modern vibe. The staff is pleasant, and the place provides you with a pleasant viewpoint of Oakland. I'm sure I will go again.

We stopped by Limon and ordered the lomo saltado, a flat iron steak, and the camarones crocantes, and everything ended up being really delicious. The lomo saltado had great flavor and was super satisfying, and the flat iron steak was cooked really nicely. The camarones crocantes were a standout for me though. Perfectly crispy and the kind of dish you keep reaching back for. Overall it was a really nice spot for dinner and the food definitely hit the mark. The space itself is comfortable and relaxed, but I did find myself wishing it had a little more decor or personality inside. The food has so much flavor that it almost makes you expect the space to feel just as lively. Still, I would absolutely come back for the dishes we ordered.

All right this past Sunday was my third time. And I must say I was impressed again I was seated quickly. They even let me watch the NFL playoffs while I was being served. We started off with the water and a shrimp appetizer it's shown in the photos below, and I had a dish that was just about like paella, we also had a half of a rotisserie chicken and the third dish was with like bell peppers, onions and you can have a choice of having it with steak or shrimp. We had it with just shrimp. It was also delicious. It came on a bed of french fries with a kind of like a sauce on the plate as well. It's a nice spot near downtown Oakland and I could even see my car while I was sitting down eating. The parking was very convenient. Again, I would highly recommend it. Limon is great.

I used to go to the one in Burlingame but I decided to check out the one in Oakland and it didn't disappoint. Parking is a little tricky but I was able to find a spot after circling for around 10 minutes. The ambiance inside the restaurant is really nice and definitely suitable for nice dinner. We ordered the Arroz con Mariscos and the Lomo Saltado, which I think is typically their most popular dish. I was not a big fan of the Arroz con Mariscos but loved the Lomo Saltado. The beef is very nicely cooked and seasoned and goes excellent with the fries. Would highly recommend! For the ambiance and food, I would give it 4.0 stars!

My bestie and I came here during a random weeknight and we closed the place down! It's such a cute vibey place that is very modern and chic. From what I saw and encountered, the staff were so very nice and helpful! I ordered such a pretty lychee martini, highly recommend! Only issue I have here is the parking. Like a majority of Oakland restaurants I couldn't imagine coming here during a Friday or Saturday night with the limited street parking they have.

Limón was the perfect "I have time to kill before the airport and want something satisfying" move on a work trip. It was absolutely hopping inside, which tells you a lot. This place is clearly a local favorite, and the energy matched. I grabbed a seat on the patio instead, which was a great vibe, relaxed, airy, and ideal for decompressing for a bit before heading out of town. I ordered the half chicken and... wow. Huge portion. Like, "I could probably feed my future self tomorrow" huge. It was cooked well, juicy, and did exactly what you want rotisserie-style chicken to do: show up flavorful and reliable without needing a pep talk. The sauce situation was the only letdown. The aji was fine, but not my favorite version. It leaned more creamy and mayo-forward than bright and punchy, and I tend to like my aji with more heat and tang. Not a dealbreaker, just not the standout I was hoping for. On the flip side, the lychee pisco sour was legit. Super tasty, nicely balanced, and honestly the kind of drink that makes you forget you're about to go sit in an airport for the next few hours. If you're in Oakland and want a popular spot with good portions, solid chicken, and a patio that feels like a mini escape, Limón is an easy yes. Just know it gets busy, and if you're particular about aji, you might find it a little on the creamy side.

Friend and I were looking for a new restaurant to try and can't believe we hadn't tried Limón before! I made a reservation online and even though I was late due to parking, they seated her when she arrived and didn't say anything to me about being late. Our server, Eduardo, was friendly, gave good recommendations, and brought the food out quickly. We shared the cheese empanadas, which were perfectly cheesy and came with a tangy yellow sauce. For our entrees, I had the mixto amarillo ceviche with taro chips ($4 extra) and my friend had the steak. Loved the ceviche - fish was fresh and the chips soaked up the sauce well. My friend's steak was huge and she took some home for leftovers. She also had a lychee cocktail, which she seemed to enjoy. The main downside is that the restaurant is that it's noisy, which is why this review is a 4 star rating. I'm not sure if the noise is due to the acoustics or busyness of a Friday night. Since the food is 5 stars, I'd come back during the week to see if it's quieter. Parking is difficult so next time I'd take an uber/Lyft, which means I can order a cocktail or wine from their extensive alcoholic drink menu. =) Not the cheapest spot, but would come back for a special occasion. Although I'm moving out of state in ~1.5 weeks, I hope to return next time I'm in CA!

Pretty chill spot Nice food, has a lot of seafood options. Food tasted great. I got the steak which was cooked exactly as I imagined it. Good ambiance good atmosphere. Tables are all clean. Renovations inside are modern. Staff are all nice. Service is quick and on point. We went as a large group and everyone's main course came out at the same time, and all are warm. Good operations. Parking is a little tough but if you are lucky you might find some street parking. The drinks tasted good. Overall, a pretty cool place to chill

The staff is very very nice and accommodating. Parking is an issue and it takes some time to find a spot . I used Lyft from work - it's easier for me. Go for the seafood - all the seafood is good . You will be very happy. People at my table got the steak - the rib eye- it was expensive and not all that- they added shrimp- it was lm- fatty and the shrimp was the better part . It's nicely decorated with an open feel . The kitchen was off to our right and we could see everything The ceviche is wonderful .. as I said- go for the seafood .

My partner and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day a week early, and since we are new to the neighborhood, we figured we'd give Limón a try. I was honestly over impressed. We were seated immediately. Yummy!! Great place for a ceviche fix. We love the ceviche sampler and the sampler appetizer plate with yucca, platanos, empanadas and chicharron'. Goes great with their signature cocktails. Everything on the menu is delicious. Don't miss the octopus and the truffled Mac and cheese. read more

So excited to have discovered this spot, which is only steps from our apartment. We had a party of 3 and had waited around 15 minutes for an outdoor table (their original estimate for the wait time), but the other outdoor diners had taken a bit longer than expected so there still wasn't a table available. They decided to BRING ANOTHER TABLE outside from indoors just to accommodate us, rather than have us continue to wait. That was an impressive move on their part, but it was only the beginning - the food was excellent too! I had the Saltados de Camarones, and they were very very generous with the shrimp - most shrimp dishes have what, 5 shrimp in them? This had at least 12! Weird thing to focus on, I know, but I appreciate that I'm getting the amount of protein I'm paying for. It was well-prepared, the flavors had penetrated deeply so it was not just thrown together at cook time. We will definitely be back! read more

We have been to this restaurant a few times and they have always been very attentive and accommodating. Their food tastes great but I do wish there were more options, a lot of the dishes are the same ingredients just in different combinations but the flavors are still delicious. My husband and I used to live in SF and we would frequent Limon where Brandon (?) made the best Pico sours. We dined last night and had a terrific time though our visit was challenging due to my husband's disability. I apologize for going back and forth about seating. You all handled it with grace and the utmost professionalism, The food was even better than I remembered. Especially delighted by the Jalea. We had heard about this restaurant from friends. We went for the first time yesterday. I'm glad that we got there early (around 5ish on a Saturday) because by the time we left it was full with a wait list. We had starters, entrees, multiple drinks, dessert everything was wonderful. Their Sangria was perfect not to sweet along with other cocktails that we tried. All food items were unique and large portions. Our server Michelle and the manager Erik were top notch. My husband and I were trained in the restaurant business and we commented that it has been a long time since we have seen a manager work the room like Eric. They also have a gluten free and other allergy menu!! Very thoughtful. We will be back. read more

I have been going to Limón for years now, usually the Burlingame & SF locations. So when I moved to Oakland last month and discovered this new location I couldn't wait to give it a try. My friends & I were greeted warmly by the hostesses right when we arrived and our server (his name started with a J & he had a really nice tattoo sleeve) could not have been better. He was super knowledgeable about the menu & gave my friends, who were all first timers, great recommendations. Highly recommend the ceviche micro, veggie empanadas, Lomo Saltado & the tres leches cake. The food was served quickly & the service was great, definitely my new favorite location! read more

My experience at Limon was one of the best I have had in downtown Oakland. Being an Oakland native, I truly enjoyed the quality service, delicious cuisine and accommodations to watch the Warriors playoff game that was given to my party under short notice. I was greeted warmly throughout the evening; food was promptly brought out and the sangria was highly recommended. I was even given a complimentary dessert. read more

Nice atmosphere and food is pretty good. My favorite were the empanadas and Brussel sprouts. Joined the waitlist via Yelp so we didn't have to wait a long time once we arrived at the restaurant. I visited Oakland for work and order empanadas from Limón for dinner. I accidentally ordered from the Burlingame location. The manager found my mistake and fixed the whole situation. The whole staff was kind after my very obvious mistake. They offered me a drink while my order was prepared. Food was delicious! I HIGHLY recommend Limon to everyone in the area! read more

Excellent experience. We had some minor issues normal for a new restaurant. The manager made it a point to make our experience even better. Service was professional and friendly. The food was excellent. Our group had the 1/2 chicken, arroz con pollo, and chicken skewers. Recommend it all. The empanadas were also excellent. I'll be coming back again. read more

We asked for a less noisy space indoors after finding out that they ran out of propane for their heating lamps for outdoor seating. We were seated in front of the men's bathroom and my friend was facing it such that when someone entered the restroom she saw more than she wanted to see. The food was average. The server asked us so many times how we were doing that it made me a bit anxious. read more

Most Peruvian dishes use potatoes, rice, or corn. Fish dishes and ceviche don't have gluten, except for pescado a lo macho which uses a batter. However I'd be careful about the saltado since it generally uses soy sauce (often that has gluten).

A few of us had dinner here last night. It was ok. Food isn't great. I was actually shocked that the popular Limon was so very average with no real stand out dishes. Whole chicken - was ok. The chicken was our least fav part of the meal. I thought there would be a smokiness or flame broiled flavor, but alas it tasted like overcooked supermarket rotisserie chicken. Chicken was falling off the bone - meaning it is too overcooked and therefore dry. Wouldn't care to eat this chicken again. 0/5 Brussels - crispy on the outside, raw undercooked, hard and inedible on the inside. It was so hard I damaged a tooth! We had dinner at Limon last night and I'm still thinking about what a nice experience it was. The ambience was lively and the space was open and inviting. We ordered a couple of drinks, ceviches, brussel sprouts, plantains, a seafood entree and dessert which was more than enough food for two. The food was already very good, and our server Javier was exceptional. From the moment we sat down, he brought such a warm, relaxed, and genuinely hospitable energy. He struck that rare balance of being attentive without hovering -- we never once felt rushed and were able to really settle in and enjoy our time. Throughout the evening other staff members kindly checked in on us as well. Even after we had paid, Javier came back to refill our water, which just speaks to the level of care he brings. After leaving and walking a block down the street, my friend realized she had left her phone behind. When we turned around, there was Javier -- running out of the restaurant toward us, phone in hand, making sure it got back to her safely. My bestie and I had the BEST time at Limón in Oakland last night! The food and drinks were already incredible, but Eduardo at the bar took it to a whole new level. He recommended the Fiesta de Mariscos -- a dish we'd never tried before -- and WOW... we were in LOVE. So spicy and so delicious, it's officially our new favorite dish . Eduardo was so sweet, welcoming, and attentive . He even remembered me and my drink , which made the experience feel extra special. This place recently opened and was well worth the wait! Management is super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu. The drinks are authentic Peruvian drinks and super tasty! I had yuca fries, a all time fav, and their chicken empanadas that were made with the rotisserie chicken. Everything was so delicious and the special sauces for everything paired well. We topped it off with some tres leches cake which was super moist and flavorful. Will definitely be back for the super cute atmosphere and great service. read more

They are soooo great! The food is delicious. They are truly the most sincere and accommodating restaurant staff I've met. When the food didn't taste quite how I imagined (still good but more seafood flavor than I was used to for that dish, so I stole my friend meal heh), they noticed that I didn't eat a lot of it and generously removed it from the bill. Then the manager asked for our feedback on all the food and gave more recommendations. We wrapped up with a delicious tress leeches cake. read more

I'll start with the pros: brussels sprouts and chicken dish were excellent. Cons: octopus was overcooked, the menu seems somewhat more limited than other locations, the TVs at the bar seem unnecessary and the lighting is very bright/white. I guess they're going for a more casual vibe at the Oakland location. Would possibly return during the day and order a different seafood dish. read more

Brand new Limón Rest. New spot in Oakland seems to be in an up and coming area. The corner spot is perfect for the restaurant. It provides ample sitting inside as well as a nice area outside. Beautiful decor and ambience. Just like the others, this spot makes amazing food. Drinks are also pretty good. Highly recommend to visit this place. read more
