I was warmly greeted and promptly seated at a table for people watching near a window facing the State House. It was mostly empty when I arrived but soon pickup to a full house by the time I left. I went with my usual Lincoln Square meal: waffles meal that includes 2 bacon, 2 sausage, eggs and mini waffles and the BEST coffee. My meal was delivered fast and hot! I was not feeling well and wanted a healthy breakfast so I looked on Uber Eats and found Lincoln Square Pancake House. They had an old fashioned oatmeal and fresh fruit bowl, so I decided to go with that for breakfast. It was good for oatmeal, and the fresh fruit bowl was very fresh and tasted amazing. I ordered through Uber Eats because I was not feeling well, so I did not make it to the actual restaurant. I have seen the restaurant before and looked through the window, so I could tell that it definitely has the feel of a pancake house, with the wood paneling on the walls and the tables with wooden countertops and old fashioned booths. It does appear to have a nice, old fashioned ambiance. I cannot speak to the service since I was not at the restaurant, but from what friends have told me, the service is hit or miss. Some of my friends have said the service is very slow, and others have said the service is wonderful. I will have to visit the restaurant myself in person sometime soon to get the full dining experience. For now, based on the food , it was decent and good, and I enjoyed it very much. It's no secret that I'm a fan of the 10-location Indiana-based Lincoln Square Pancake House, a family-owned breakfast/brunch chain that has somehow managed to only get better amidst the challenges of a global pandemic. I live near the location at 56th and Emerson and yet I've found an overall consistency from location to location in terms of quality food, genuine hospitality, and fair prices. So, I knew when I heard that a new spot had opened up in the former Hotcakes Emporium location that it wouldn't be long before I would check it out. A holiday weekend provided the perfect opportunity to wake up early and head on over. This location has three accessible parking spots, though only two genuinely meet ADA guidelines. All were taken when I arrived. However, I found a spot at the end of a parking row and it worked well for my wheelchair. As much as I love Lincoln Square, I will admit it got one strike against it fairly quickly here. There's a curb cut between the two ADA parking spots. This curb cut is far from ADA compliant and is actually unsafe. It's steep with an abrupt turn to the right to get to the door. I've wheeled from Indianapolis to Chicago three times - I tried this ramp three times and couldn't do it without risking a flip. Fortunately, a customer came along who was willing to help out and I got inside. Unsurprisingly, exiting was much easier since it was actually headed down. There's a double glass-door entryway that leads directly into the hosting area slightly to the right and the dining areas slightly to the right. I like that there's some sectioning off here as it gives greater privacy and keeps things from getting too noisy. This location hasn't been open long and word is still getting out. I was able to get a table immediately. It was a two-top, not always my favorite, but it was a big enough table that I was comfortable. As other reviews have noted, Lincoln Square has done quite a bit of clean-up here. It's far from fancy, but Hotcakes Emporium was definitely on the divey side. Lincoln Square is more clean and simple. The menu seemed somewhat different since my last visit. Lincoln Square serves breakfast and lunch. Generally, I find myself happier with breakfast options. I opted for an order of French Toast with a side of hash browns and my usual unsweetened iced tea. The menu is a little confusing - there's an indication you can substitute turkey bacon or sausage directly above these items. That, at least to me, indicates that there's a side that comes with it (what else would you substitute?). However, no side came with it. That was for the best, however, since this was a lot more food than I expected. It seems like a more substantial meal than it used to be. Lincoln Square's bread for French Toast comes from Scholars Bakehouse, an Indiana bakehouse. It's definitely an upgrade from the prior French Toast option. The hash browns were a decent serving, though more on the simple and ordinary side. My server was Paulina. She was an absolute gem. She was friendly, helpful, and she smiled literally every time she was at my table. She did call me "sir," a painful reminder that I was probably older enough to be her father or, gasp, grandfather. She also made sure I got my always desired refill of iced tea. You pay at the cash register when you leave. You could tell the employees were still learning, but they were friendly and apologetic when they had a minor glitch. I found it endearing. Overall, this was definitely the usual Lincoln Square hospitality and quality. My meal, because I ordered a side, came in just under $18. That's more than I would usually spend, but I was fine with it. It came with more food than I could actually finish. I can't go a 5-star due to the accessibility concerns and slight menu confusion and I'm hoping the ramp gets addressed at some point. Of course, this is likely a landlord issue. However, it impacts the dining experience and is worth noting. They also have a few outdoor tables that face West 86th Street. With 10 locations all in Central Indiana, I doubt I'd go out of my way to come back to this one - especially due to accessibility. However, Paulina's service was so top-notch that it would almost be worth returning simply for her service. As an added note, I noticed there were multiple staff members who were bilingual (Spanish, English) and those who would benefit from Spanish-speaking staff would likely be quite comfortable here. I'll definitely be back when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

This location was previously a different breakfast place, but Lincoln Square has upped the game by a good cleaning (it was pretty old and dirty before) and some light remodeling. I debated between three and four stars. If I was only going on taste, it would probably be three. However, if you were here when this place was Hotcakes, you'd know what an upgrade it has been. They've renovated and it feels much more open and less cluttered. It is also much, MUCH cleaner than before. Staff was friendly and they were fully staffed. There was a long lag in between our server getting our order, checking on us, etc., but we were there on the second day they opened, so I can't expect too much. The prices were very reasonable for the amount of food we received. The iced tea was good and I enjoyed the pancakes. The biscuits and gravy were a bit disappointing. The gravy was not super flavorful and there was very little sausage (check out my picture, which shows just a couple slices of sausage link). However, a good douse of hot sauce gets the job done. Waitstaff was good. Just not my go to now that I live on this side of town. The location is on a corner, good parking and the restaurant itself is a pretty good size. We swung in with a party of five while out thrift shopping and it was a nice meal! The location has ample parking, outdoor seating in the summer months, big comfy booths for bigger parties (like ours) and a large menu to choose from. Omelettes come with fresh ingredients and your choice of toast, biscuits, pancakes, or French toast so portions are BIG for the price. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Pros: What I stated above, plus the pancakes, hazelnut drizzle crepes, and French toast were delicious! Also, I really enjoyed the single-use unisex bathrooms for our family. Small win in a busy world. Cons: No drink menu though they serve mimosas, juices, and Pepsi products. Our waitress was kind, but the customer service from the remaining staff was a bit lacking from the phone call I made ahead of our arrival, to the hostess who seated us, to even the woman who took our payment at the end of the meal. Sometimes a smile and friendly face go a long way in making people feel welcome so it was sadly missed on this visit.
