Such a wonderful early dinner my family and I had today. Great food and great service by great people. Clean beautiful ambiance. Thank you to the chefs and wait staff. My son loved his caldo de res, my husband really enjoyed his menudo dish and I loved the red Oaxaca mole dish. Try their Oaxaca horchata.

This is what you call a hole In the wall/ family owned restaurant.. arrived and the location its kinda lonely and industrial like .. but the inside is clean and the lady serving us what's super nice .. food is a bit on the higher end but we were all satisfied and portions are big 4 dishes an extra order of their delicious tortillas and drinks was about $175

The food is ok. The food for kids is not great for the price. I don't have a photo but the kids taquito was 2 rolled up palm sized tortillas con pollo with a x small chicken soup for $10 no drink or other sides included. Better off buying regular entree for them. The food is overpriced and over hyped. Although the molecajete was decent . I ordered menudo which was ok . I wouldn't come back , I've had way better

Came here for the first time and don't regret trying this place. Their mole was probably the best I've ever had. It had a lot of flavor and the perfect amount of kick. We also got the barbacoa per the server's recommendation and the meat was very tender. The portion size is good as well.

The molcajete was $43 and beer $6. The tasajo was the best! Service was also super fast and nice

Not the worse but also not the best, we'll stick with our regular place for Oaxacan food. They don't offer complementary chips, even if they are not with Coloradito on top, just no comp chips at all. The flavor of the food is not bad but the portions look stingy. One good thing is that we didn't have to wait too long for the food, since they other 3 tables there were done and started to leave. I don't know about other plates, but at least the ones we ordered are not making us come back. In regards to service, a "Good Afternoon, Welcome " would be nice.

The food is incredible. Probably some of the best mole I have found in LA. And the tortillas are hand made there.

Was looking for Oaxacan food near USC and I'm extremely happy that I found this place! I do think it's unfortunate that you have to find parking a block or more away, since this place deserves more hype! The inside is very nice and has an authentic Mexican feel. I did notice that since we were the only people there, half of the tables still had their chairs up-I'm assuming they haven't been very busy lately. When my friend and I went in, the staff were so kind and happy to help us. Our server came by to welcome us and to suggest some signature dishes. She even gave us a sample of the mole - which was delicious. I ordered the tlayuda and an agua fresca and they very much satisfied my cravings for good Oaxacan food! I truly hope more people discover this place because they deserve to be recognized for their great attitudes and great food!

This is a little hidden restaurant that I am sure a ton of people miss. Its not the fanciest place ever but the food is good. If you are looking for a place that sells some good authentic food from oaxaca then this one is not going to disappoint. Today I ordered some chicken in mole and I really liked it. the taste of the mole was very good and it went well with the chicken. I also got the guacamole and loved it. Pros -Parking in the back -Small and cozy -Good prices Cons -They should put a sign that says parking in the back

This is a family owned restaurant with authentic Mexican food. Please, try the molcajete if you decide to stop by. Its so good, you wont regret it.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and everything was presented really well. The enchiladas were flavorful, the grilled fish was cooked perfectly, and the tortillas with the short rib were a table favorite. Portions were great for sharing, and the sauces really tied everything together. Service was friendly and our server checked in on us throughout the night without making us feel rushed. It did get a little busy, so there were a few waits between courses, but nothing that took away from the experience. Our waiter then told us we needed a specific Dine LA reservation, something that was never mentioned when I called or when I made the reservation. I've been to plenty of Dine LA restaurants and have never experienced this. The service wasn't necessarily bad, but it was very dismissive. No apology, no real explanation--they basically just brushed it off. Thankfully, the food saved the night! The Michelada oysters were TO DIE FOR--seriously one of the best oyster flavors I've ever had. We also had the short rib plate, which was delicious. The outdoor atmosphere and decor are really cute too. I would come back, but ONLY for those oysters--definitely not for the service.

Sonoratown was our first stop as it was highly recommended by my boyfriend's brother, and it did not disappoint. It immediately earned a spot in our top five favorite taco spots for carne asada in all of Southern California! The location that we went to is located in between Elysium DTLA and Perfumeria Starlux on E 8th St in downtown LA. There is only paid(?) street parking around the area that could be extremely difficult to find during work days. Because we couldn't snag a spot, my friends and I opted for takeout and didn't end up eating until about 30 minutes later. Despite the travel time, the tacos were still absolutely incredible--I can only imagine how spectacular it tastes fresh! My friends and I ordered the carne asada tacos, and my boyfriend opted for the cabeza. Before I even took a full bite, I tasted a piece of the loose carne asada and was blown away; it was perfectly cooked with a wonderful tenderness and deep smokiness. The use of a single, thin, handmade flour tortilla--rather than the standard double corn--was a total game-changer and exactly how I preferred my tacos. The salsas were equally impressive, offering fantastic flavor and a great kick. My boyfriend's cabeza taco was just as standout, featuring super-tender meat with a rich, savory profile. Wowowow! Between the exceptional meat quality, bold flavors, and great value, this is easily one of the best taco spots I've visited. It's a huge bummer that they don't have a location down in San Diego, but we will definitely be back!

Cute building with lovely patio seating: from the trailing hanging pothos plants, Spanish tiles, to relaxing latin-house music the vibes were welcoming. I'm not much of a drinker though, when asked if I wanted to make my pina colada a "float" I thought incorrectly about ice cream. It was graciously explained that you take an additional shot of rum and float it on top of the drink or mix in to make it extra boozy. The pina colada is top notch they hollow out a real pineapple to make the drink and it's the size of your face! The watermelon cocktail was delicious and there is also a mezcal option. Tasted like if a watermelon aqua Fresca was combined with a margarita, there is a hint of salt that brings out the fruit sweetness. We special ordered a bunch of different proteins and vegetables at half portions to make a feast: Aguachile- Light refreshing starter, kanpachi perfectly marinated and great for the summer heat. Crispy potato- Phenomenally done fingerling potatoes. Whipped beans- Carnitas on top made this dish. Fried chicken tacos- Found the chicken slightly on the dry side, if there was a creamy/thicker sauce would be even better... nothing wrong with flavor, good mild heat. I did enjoy the fresh shredded cabbage and carrots, reminded me of bahn mi. Empanadas- Loved the acidity of the sauce that cut through the fattiness of the ground meat. Light shell. Crispy Squash flower- Delicate crunch, like an angelic version of a jalapeno popper. Lamb chops- Definition of "treat-yourself" luxurious meat lollipops. Celery salad- Simple dish but the lemon flavor and tartness really helped break up the richness of other dishes. Churros- Light crunch and small, petite dessert. The thin caramel sauce is addicting. Fine dining, for those special occasions or if you just want to splurge for a morale boost highly recommend this restaurant. Valet parking or park across the street or around the corner in a lot for $5-10.
