(IMO) -- it's more reasonably priced (Jung's Dried Beef is $52/lb and Ling Kee Beef Jerky is $30/lb) -- Their "spicy" beef jerky is so flavorful and spicier. -- Texture is much more enjoyable and fresh. I bought both spicy and non spicy jerky in all flavors weighing at 1/4 lb. I bought several flavors and asked to vacuum seal 2 flavors equaling to a 1/2 lb n each vacuum sealed bag. You can get the squares which are ground meat being softer and easier to chew. Shrimp jerky seemed popular as we got the last 2 squares. If use to be a lot easier because I use to go to the city a lot but I haven't had the chance to visit as much so I always make sure to pick up 1/4lb to 1/2lb each time (if not more). They have a variety of jerky's but no matter how many I try, I can't seem to get over the pork jerky's. They have both spicy and non spicy jerky's. The staff is always super sweet and quick with preparing your order and even though it is a small store, there usually isn't a lot of foot traffic so you don't usually have to squeeze inside in order to order. This was a fun find- a mom and pop Asian jerky shop. It's a very small space, and they sell the jerky by the pound with about 4-6 variety. The flavor was amazing- I haven't had homemade Asian jerky in a while. It's different from American jerky as it's sweeter but not overly sweet. There's definitely some umami in the flavor. This beef jerky is absolutely tender and delicious. if you come at the right time, you can watch them making some fresh, in the cooking area. My usual go get is the spicy beef jerky. There is: pork jerky beef jerky chicken jerky shrimp jerky curry beef chopped beef All of them also have spicy version. All around $13 for half a pound. I've bought pounds of it before for out of town guests. They can't find this stuff anywhere in their neck of the woods. I've also shipped it to friends in another state. Just make sure that you ship it with refrigeration cold packs, to keep it fresh through the delivery. This is a small hole in the wall place but you leave with delicious treats. Cash only. No matter which city I'm exploring, jerky has always been on my list to find. This tiny shop in Chinatown offers fresh, grilled jerky. This isn't your typical jerky which is normally dehydrated and dry. This shop offers juicy and tender grilled slabs of meat with a hint of sweetness and smokiness. For roughly $25 per pound. If I lived in NYC I would hesitate to write a review as I would want all the jerky to myself. Yes, I don't want to share or have to wait for them to make more. Everyday they are making fresh jerky and sometimes they run out. One guy ordered 20 lbs, that's right 20 lbs and pretty much wiped them out of what they had. Hey we bought around 8 lbs ourselves and we are hauling them back to Hawaii. You may ask what's so special about this jerky??? This is Malaysian style jerky, it is not the hard tough jerky that most American's are used to that take a long time to chew and then you find the fat that doesn't ever break down and you either have to swallow or spit it out. This is tender, very soft and very flavorful jerky. You can get pork, beef, chicken, curry beef, or shrimp jerky. I don't know about the others (as they didn't have any when we went) but the pork and beef, you can get it either in regular or spicy. Don't worry the spicy isn't that spicy at all. It was kind of mild if you ask me. If you are traveling and taking the jerky with you like we are, they can vacuum seal it for you. It may not be the cheapest jerky, but it surely is one of the best that I have tried. You pay for what you get I say. So many people love the jerky here but man, nothing special. I saw this place on the top places to visit in Chinatown for food so I had to try it. A couple of key things to point out if you're a first-timer: 1) A tiny storefront on Canal selling only jerky. Like, you step in, and you're at the counter. It's tiny. Just the way I like a good hole in the wall joint for sure. 2) 2 minute walk to the F train. 3) The jerky is delicious but a bit pricey. 4) They will try to up sell you. Every. Single. Time. This is the best jerky I've had. I don't really know how they make the jerky here soooo tender to the point where it basically melts in your mouth but whatever they do it's really a texture that I've not had in other jerkies. You definitely don't run your jaw sore from eating a pound of this jerky. In fact, your like, dammit I wish I bought 8 pounds of the stuff for one sitting. It doesn't matter which protein you choose, they are all fantastic. The curry versions for each protein add a flavor profile that is mildly spicy without overtaking the underlying flavor of the meat. I wish there was a way for me to preserve the jerky for more than a couple of days at a time without having to trek into lower manhattan for my jerky fix. The only thing I can say against Ling Kee is that the prices are really more than I've paid for jerky elsewhere. Make sure you hit the ATM before visiting because when the final tally comes and your hit with a bill for 30-40 bucks, and don't have the cash,.. that's gonna suck. I also kinda wish they also had either later hours or earlier hours but since they only sell jerky I think it would be hard to ask for longer hours without inflating the price more. read more

Their fresh jerky are tender, moist and flavorful, it will literally melt in your mouth. Unlike the packaged jerky, theirs aren't chewy nor dry. They also offer many different flavors and meats to choose from like pork, beef, chicken and shrimp. Although the prices are quite high compared to American/Chinese packaged jerky or should I say, there is no comparison, this is fresh stuff so you get what you pay for. Every time I come here, I always end up getting at least a pound or two of jerky for myself or a couple of pounds for gifting, which they vacuum seal the jerky for you so it stays fresh. The staff are super nice and accommodating even when you ask for a specific dollar amount of jerky instead of their traditional quarter, half or 1 pound increments.
