Excited to try out edible beats' restaurants. I was contemplating on either root down or linger. Ultimately ended up choosing linger for its asian fusion menu. Ordered the following: Devils on Horseback Smoked Bacon, Medjool Dates, Goat Cheese & Pomegranate Gastrique Bao Bun Trio One each of the House Bao: Duck, Pork Belly & Chicken Skewer & Lettuce Wraps Shrimp Skewers, Pickled Papaya Salad, Crispy Rice Noodles, Peanuts, Fresh Herbs & Kaffir Peanut Sauce Overall, I think they had interesting ideas. However, maybe by coincidence, they had a similar type of sauce on all of the dishes I ordered, and the sauce was pretty overpowering, which made all three dishes taste very similar. I felt like I was eating the same thing with different textures three times. The bao was a bit too doughy for my liking as well. Been here a couple times. Bao bun trio + bbq tacos are to die for. Honey fries are also great, and still crisp. Our table also loved the edamame and wagyu sliders, but I personally thought the sliders tasted like any other slider. Besides, why would you take wagyu and make a burger out of it? The reason I took a star off is bc it is a nightmare, if not outright IMPOSSIBLE to communicate with them outside the restaurant. I called to make a reservation, but the voicemail said I'd need to make a reservation on the website with a party of my size (11 ppl). So I went online, but the portal wasn't working, and it told me to call. So I called 3 times to ask about the problem, but no one ever picked up. So I PHYSICALLY went to the restaurant to make the reservation, and I requested a table on the patio, and they obliged. Then a few days before the reservation, they texted me and said they might have to split us into 2 tables. So then we get there, and not only have they split us, but then they say the patio is only for drinks, which they never told me. Visited Denver last week. I was super excited to try Linger & it was the highlight of my trip. The building and the decorations are so beautiful and cohesive yet full of personality. As someone who gets overstimulated pretty easy I can be a little picky about ambiance... Linger was perfect! It wasn't too loud and the lighting was nice and dark! Food was delicious, portioned well, and plated beautifully! Drinks were amazing and paired perfectly with the meal. But most importantly- THE SERVICE! It was incredible. This was on my list to check out since I moved to Denver a few years ago! I finally got the chance to go for my anniversary. I was told by a friend what to try and we got enough food for two people that we were full but not in pain! We got: The chicken lettuce wraps - my favorite Devil's on Horseback (bacon wrapped dates) - second favorite! Bao Buns - everyone raves about these but they are not my thing Fried Shrimp - yummy but not needed. My husband really liked them. I will definitely want to come back to try new things! Friendly service and the cocktail was delicious but the food wasn't aligning with the reputation this restaurant has. Shrimp skewers ($14 for 2) were so charred and oddly smelled like a joint? It was weird and I couldn't put my finger on it.. Nachos ($15) is about 8-10 small Nachos total... again, "tapas" style so if youre wanting to feel satiated prepare to order a lot of tiny plates. $38 for lobster and scallop ramen which my dining partner and I split - just okay. Got brunch here with a group of friends on a Sunday morning! I'm so happy they do reservations. I got the BLT benedict and loved it so much! it had a great balance of sweet and savory and really enjoyed the side salad I got. Service was a bit slow, we got there at 11, probably ordered around 11:30 and then got our food around 12. I'm glad they were able to itemize/split the check at the end but as a heads up, they do a 5% bonus charge for "fair wages and benefits" which I didn't appreciate them bringing to our attention before we got our checks. I went here for restaurant week and overall I had a fabulous experience. Ambience: it was moody, cozy and lively. Their bar lighting is so perfect and really a visual stunner. Service: it was a busy day so we didn't get seated right at our reservation time, they were running 20ish minutes behind. The check also took really long to get to our table. Maybe it's because of the unique mortuary history, but Linger is overrated... Their biggest strength are their cocktails, some of which have a southeast Asian flare, but I've been here twice and their food often misses the mark. Good Asian fusion is hard to pull off. Although I'm Asian American, I recognize that authenticity or strict adherence to the flavors of the original versions of classic dishes isn't the point of fusion. And I'm OK with that, but the food should still retain what made the dishes that inspired it great, and most importantly, taste good! I feel like Linger chooses to hit guests over the head with too much sugar and/or salt in every bite. Everything is a heavy handed assault on the taste buds. We expected the Devils on Horseback (dates with cheese and bacon) to be sweet, but did the special brussel sprouts with togarashi have to be sweet too? The subtle flavors of the king mushroom skewers would have been much better if the white sauce they were served with hadn't been so salty. Looking for a reprieve from this overly sweet vs salty pendulum of flavors, we ordered some fried rice with a shrimp skewer, never thinking too much (any!) sugar would be an issue with fried rice. The two little shrimp were half raw (one side was pink and the other was gray) and when digging into the rice itself, it was really dense and cloyingly sweet! It was the sweetest of the dishes we tried! Fried rice should be savory and not heavy, dense, and sweet. It wasn't a huge portion but we couldn't take any more of the taste bud assault. The duck bao was the only saving grace, but also not anything that special and arguably a little saltier than needed (although tame compared to some of the other over salted or sweetened dishes). Finally, the value wasn't there. 4-5 small tapas and a couple cocktails with tip shouldn't set you back $250, especially with the small portion side. It's these kinds of experiences that validate for me that many "fusion" restaurants use the moniker as an excuse to serve less quantity and charge more for "higher end" food designed to appeal to assumptions about western palettes. And maybe they're onto something because they were packed the two times I've went (I won't be going back). But personally, I'd rather pay less, get more food, and have a wider range of authentic flavors that don't destroy my taste buds. read more

We came here for a team outing with a big group around 14 people on a Thursday night. The place was packed, but we were able to get seating because of our reservations. The service was good but they were attentive to serve us our cocktails but not really the water. We ordered a bunch of stuff andjust shared it among us. Everything had a good taste and was delicious. My favorite was the bao buns. We ordered the different meat options and I liked them all. I let one of my coworkers order most of the food so I just sat there and ate and conversed with my coworkers. All of us also ordered wine and cocktails, and they were well crafted. The cost was about what I was expecting for a group our size. The portions are on the small/moderate side, making it great for sharing and ordering family style to try a bunch of things. My personal favorite were the butternut squash tamales-- they were super flavorful and a bit spicy and overall very unique and tasty. The cocktails are all mortuary themed (the restaurant used to be a mortuary!) and very delicious as well. Try to get a reservation, especially with a large group, as it does get crowded on weekends. Free street parking is available nearby but might be hard to find during busy hours. The restaurant is on the upper level and overlooks the adjacent ice cream shop with a nice view of the city! While our waiter was very nice and the vibes were great, I did not enjoy the food...the lobster in the lobster roll was cooked great but the sauce wasn't my thing. The waffle was a waffle. What an amazing little gem tucked inside downtown Denver. Their asian fusion menu is just divine. I had the red thai coconut curry with a perfectly cooked scallop and shrimp. The portion size is just right, not giant. The craft cocktail drink menu is inventive. I had a Frozen Painkiller which as a Tiki lover I couldn't get enough of! Went to happy hour with a friend. We sat in the cocktail lounge, which is a great indoor/outside spot. Big open windows line the wall bringing in a nice breeze. There was a DJ playing music, which wasn't too loud. Loud enough to enjoy the music and hear your conversation. A lot of options for happy hour but small portions (which I guess are expected for happy hour?). Every bite was delicious and we tried about 7 different dishes. I'm usually pretty stingy with my five star reviews, but honestly, I don't know what I would've changed about our time at Linger! Having had many lack luster experiences dining out since COVID, it was nice to feel like we received the service and quality we expected. We dined for restaurant week, and were seated immediately. The accessible entrance was clear, and a chair had been removed for my husband who is a wheelchair user, per the note in my reservation. The service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. We received each course when we were ready and our table was never crowded with unfinished food. I had the Mojave muerte cocktail and the Mortuary margarita- both of which were delicious. My husband enjoyed the sport tea mocktail. My only feedback is to add a few other mocktail options, BUT the fact that they include a refill for no extra charge is really a nice addition. We both got different items on the menu and none disappointed. The portions were decent but we still left full, with no leftovers. I know this may not matter to most, but Linger has large, very inclusive, clean restrooms. If you come for a meal and drinks and plan to stay for awhile, this is always nice, and makes you feel welcome, and comfortable. After our experience, we definitely plan to come back for the regular menu and maybe brunch! read more

I was truly blown away by this place! It's in the oldest building left in Denver/a former mortuary. I figured I'd be creeped out but the vibe inside was sooo fun. The host staff/mgmt and bar staff were the most hospitable people that I've come across in ages of checking out restaurants and bars. We were able to get seated right away without a reservation. I can only comment on the drinks we tried as we stopped in for a night cap, but I definitely want to go back to try the food. The decor/ambiance is perfect for drinks with friends or date night. The bar is made of lite brite lights and the tables have some of the original wooden parts from the former mortuary. The espresso martini photo I've added had a delicious cinnamon taste to it, as the ferment the cinnamon in the vodka they use for the drink overnight. Great attention to detail with the other cocktails we tried as well. As a tourist I appreciated the history lesson the bartender gave on the location/building. read more

I love, love, love Linger! This was my second time visiting within the past couple years while I'm in town, and I can't say enough good things about it. The food is amazing and slightly adventurous, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is so unique. We tried the spring rolls (10/10), scallion pancakes (6/10), and the wagyu sliders (10/10). We also tried the espresso martinis which we fabulous and the Italian donuts which were amazing. Not everything was photographed because we just dove right in! Had to try this place because of the unique history of the space being a crematorium prior to an f&b establishment. I'm glad I stopped because the dishes we tried were delicious. The duck bao buns were light, fluffy and sauce was a delicious combo of sweet and spicy. Also amazing was wagyu sliders. The beef was so tender and seasoned perfectly. We arrived during the mid afternoon and we were lucky to have a window seat on the 2nd level. It started pouring rain while we're dining which which added to the ambiance of the space. We had an amazing experience at Linger on Sunday . My husband and myself were celebrating our anniversary and couldn't have chosen a better place for dinner. Upon entering the manager at the door was welcoming, our server Carolyn was outstanding she gave impeccable service and you're manager Niki made our night, she's so friendly and personable she went out of her way to stop by our table with some bubbly to help us celebrate and made our night just phenomenal. While visiting a friend in Denver we had dinner here. Ambiance was really nice - big booths and modern/trendy; you can see the kitchen which I always personally love. I could see it being a cute date night spot or group dinner with friends. The food was just okay. They recommend tapas styles so multiple dishes to share. The server recommended at least 6-8 dishes for 4 people. They lay out the menu with foods/dishes by continent/cuisine. Between my husband and I, we got 3 dishes - the bao bun trio, satay lettuce wraps with chicken, and the tempura ginger shrimp. We still felt a little hungry afterward but were going to get dessert so didn't end up ordering one more dish. Here are my thoughts on each dish: * Bao bun trio: my favorite - flavorful meats and sauce/seasoning, fluffy bao. Solid dish. * Satay lettuce wraps with chicken: my least favorite - chicken was extremely dry, not well seasoned. The lettuce to wrap the food was also so tiny, it was not a great eating experience. The "papaya salad" was just pickled carrots and raddish like you'd get with a Vietnamese banh mi... no sour taste or anything spicy, no flavor at all. (Our friend for the same dish with tofu that's pictured). * Tempura ginger shrimp: pretty good. Definitely had flavor overall thanks to the aioli and breading (though almost too much breading), but again the papaya slaw was just eh or didn't add anything to this dish. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could, mostly for the beautiful decor, lovely staff and great service. The food on the other hand definitely 3/5 stars. We had the pork baos...the pork was good, but overpowered by too much hoisin sauce. The boa was not fluffy. The smashed each burgers were overly salty so we couldn't enjoy the meat itself. That being said, the size of the slides was decent and it came with a side of hot honey sweet potato waffle fries--my favorite item of the night. The pork potstickers are more like empanadas, not potstickers and covered in a sauce that takes away from the flavor of the filling, which is not bad when eaten alone. The dosa, I wanted to be delicious. It was mid. Presented beautifully but the dosa itself was overcooked and tasted more like a crunchy cracker. Also they layered it so much salted butter that it overpowered the potatoes and peas (under seasoned). Linger is place you should try if you can get in. A friend recommended that we try Linger when I was in Denver for business. They don't take reservations so we weren't sure whether or not we'd get a table. We walked up and the hostess told us we were out of luck, then suddenly a table opened. Good luck on our part. The table we got was booked for about an hour and forty five minutes according to the host and off we went. It was a great table on the roof. I've never dined on a rooftop and this was a great entry into rooftop dining. The food truck, old sign, and city view really made this perfect. It didn't matter that the restaurant lace was packed. The view was spectacular. The best suggestion I can give for food is to go all in and order a bunch. It's tapas style so get every possible thing you're interested in. The highlights for me were the duck bao, shrimp, and stuffed dates. Service was friendly but slow at times. This did not detract from the experience. If you're in a hurry though, this is not the place for you. Remember when I said the table was booked for an hour and fourth five? That wasn't enough time. All in I think the meal was around two hours and fifteen minutes. For this New Orleans boy who is used to leisurely dining, it was perfect. I would love to go back on my next trip to Denver. Went here for the first time tonight for a date night. All in all it was a good experience, great server, the food was tasty and different (bao buns stole the show. I like the duck and my girlfriend liked the fried chicken) the drinks were okay although nothing too exciting. Our main frustration was that after a $200 bill I went to Carls Jr. for a burger because I was still hungry. I understand that with the experience comes a price associated with it but to order tacos for $15 and have 2 arrive on a dish meant to hold 4 seems a bit much. We saw a couple with the pad Thai and that seemed to be a good portion but between the 6 different dishes (tapas) we ordered we both left still hungry. All in all we enjoyed our experience, but it is most likely a one time thing. We walked in without reservations (note to self: make one next time!) and were fortunate enough to snag an odd-shaped booth that had just been vacated. It was smaller, with a pole on one side, but it worked perfectly for the two of us. We were so thankful to avoid the 90-120 minute wait! We ate a lot and loved every single dish: Pork Belly Bao Spring Rolls Devils on Horseback Korean BBQ Tacos Scallion Pancake Masala Dosa (a large, rolled pancake-like dish you'll see everywhere--they're popular for good reason!) The hubby and I have been to Linger a handful of times while living in Denver, so wanted to check it out after being away for 5 years. Our first visit was back in 2011 or 2012 which was a very big deal to us back in the day. We made reservations for a Sunday night and sat upstairs overlooking Denver and the Little Man line outside. We started with a cocktail before our flight back home to San Diego. My boozy blackberry slush was very cold and delicious, though the paper straw was useless after a couple of minutes. We ordered the Devils on Horseback which is always a must have when we go. The saltiness of the bacon paired with the sweetness of the dates can't be beat. The hubby wanted the elote corn fritters which looked heavy when they came to the table but were very light and airy. Much better than I expected. We ordered a single duck bao bun which I found flavorful. The favorite dish of the night though was the carrot falafel plate. The hummus was creamy and smooth. The carrot and chickpea falafel were nicely fried and decadent. The whipped feta topped with fried garbanzo beans was a nice touch and balanced the falafel and the pita scooped it all up. At the end, the hubby wanted his go-to at Linger, which is the coffee and donuts dessert paired with a cup of coffee and cream. The donuts come in a paper bag filled with powdered sugar. You shake them up and pour them on the plate, which comes with a cup of chocolate mousse and espresso ganache. I knew this would be an awesome choice when I was strolling for a spot for dinner online. This spot didn't fall short in the area of food, service, or ambiance. When you arrive you have the option of sitting at the rooftop or the dining area. At first we opted for the rooftop but it was a little chilly so we dined inside. First we were taken up this beautiful stair case to our seat. On the way there we enjoyed the nice decor adorning the restaurant. Our seat although inside still had like a window view which gave me an indoor outdoor feel. The food is more on the small plate style so if you are with a friend order a few items so you can have more variety. That is what we did and everything was delicious. I wish I could remember the name of our dishes but maybe you can show my pics to wait staff for a recommendation. Oh to wash down the divine bites be sure to grab 1 of their refreshing libations!
