The food overall was not bad. I personally didn't care for the scallion & short rib pancakes. The potstickers were ok and my friend let me try her ginger chili shrimp which was ok as well. The shrimp was tempura but it was soft and I prefer more crispy if I have anything tempura. I think it would be worth trying other items on the menu, but as far as the asian section I wouldn't order again. Received a gift card for Xmas so I made a reservation to have brunch here. The restaurant is in the converted Olinger's Mortuary building in Denver. The 'O' in Olinger's is darkened and instead of mortuaries is now eatuaries. The large funeral fans are still there and the old AC units have been converted into lamps. A church pew is the hostess stand and the former embalming area below has a gym and other retail. We were seated upstairs where the blue sofa seats provided a color contrast with the dark unfinished ceiling. The bar ran along the side of the dining area and had cool colored decor on the top. Our server was Xander and he left us a QR code menu and brought us water served in formaldehyde bottles. We ordered the hangover ramen, wagyu sliders and mushroom congee. I misunderstood when asked if we were sharing the dishes because while we were going to share the dishes, we were still going to eat our dish mainly ourselves. They brought the dishes divided into two bowls. I couldn't decide if the serving size of the dishes were worth their price since the portion was divided into two. The congee was average. Not as good as the actual Asian dish itself because the rice had absorbed a lot of the water and was more mushy and waterlogged than the dish made in Asia. But it tasted pretty good. And I liked the pepita seeds in it. Gave the dish a good crunch while the mushrooms had a full meaty taste. I would have preferred a salted duck egg to accompany the dish but the sunny side up egg was nice and runny. The ramen was a good texture and the soup flavorful. The soft boiled shoyu egg was nice but could have done with more bacon and bok choy. He liked it and ate all of his bowl and mine after I had a taste. It came with a side of chili seasoning. That was good. I put some in my congee. The wagyu beef sliders came with sweet potato waffle fries. The sliders came on a soft roll with bacon onion jam and aged cheddar. And whilst I don't like dill pickles, the curry-dill pickle in the slider was not objectionable to me. All the flavors tied together nicely with the soft and well cooked beef to make a delicious dish. The beef melted in my mouth and had no weird textures to turn me off the dish. I would definitely come here again to eat the wagyu sliders. We had a good time and left nice and full. Xander did check on us and we didn't feel pressured to leave at once. Which was good as the food took a while to come. The restrooms were cool as they have the smart sinks which use your dirty water to flush the toilets. And they have gender neutral restrooms which also means that women have more restrooms to use, which if you're a woman, you've waited in long lines before and can appreciate. TLDR: Whoever made the menu has a head up their ass and whoever trained the staff, didn't. The reason they're getting one star is because of they fail at four out of five categories: accessibility, food, drinks, and service. Their ambiance is very eclectic and while I didn't mind it the rest of my party didn't. We'll start with the fact that the place isn't disability accessible. It's only stairs, no ramps, no tables only booths or half booths, and the elevator only goes to the ground floor or roof. As a person with disabilities, not exactly what I wanted to deal with, I'm just happy I didn't have to use my wheelchair that day. Second is service. The hostess refused to hear my name. My name is pretty unique so I forgave it the first time since it was pretty loud in there but after giving her my last name and the time of our reservation, she was positive we were a different party under a name that's nothing like mine. Then insisted we didn't have a reservation all together. It took me having to insist she look up my name letter by letter till she finally found it and told us 'it's okay', as if it's our fault. Then the waitress didn't listen to us either. She deliberately ignored our order and input her own. We ordered 6 bao, three normal, three plain (just meat). The waitress didn't seem to understand this and we had to physically count on our fingers for her to get it. Clearly she didn't as she brought out nine bao. Three tasting flights, two plates as they come and one plain. We didn't say anything as at this point we were done trying to fight it and were hungry anyways. Third was the drinks. All alcohol, we figured they'd have basic fountain drinks but they didn't from what we saw. That's on us I'll admit their menu is online. However, after ordering iced tea we found out it's sweetened. Which isn't on the menu. When we asked about it the waitress told us it's not sweet. When we told her it is sweet we can taste the sweetener she insisted they don't sweeten it it's just from a bag. We decided to let this go since it wasn't worth it. Finally was food. The bao all had something wrong with it. For one, the buns of the bao aren't steamed they're more griddled, which leaves them doughy and greasy. The chicken bao was the best, if you got it as is, when plain they gave an old heat lamped piece of chicken that wasn't even crunchy or warm. Second was the pork, the second best, which just used too much liquid smoke it near tasted burnt. The worst was the duck, which is shredded and not actual pieces of duck, the duck had no flavor and the salad/slaw on top was fishy, not fish sauce fishy, like fishy fishy. How they managed that I don't know. The wagyu sliders were overly salty and crunchy, also the thinnest patty I'd ever seen. You also only get two. For ten bucks per slider I'd expect something thick and cooked well. The fries that came with the sliders were the best part, they make good French fries but that doesn't make up for the rest. The hangover ramen was, putting it lightly, vile. Somehow unseasoned, yet had the taste of hot and sour soup. There's random lettuce in the soup that wasn't listed on the menu, and the pickled ginger they used was whole strips of sushi ginger one would get at the store that ruined the whole bowl. I'd avoid this as much as possible. Then was the chicken and pandan waffle. The chicken was fine, it was at least fresh. The waffle didn't really taste like pandan and was dense, also not warm. The fried egg wasn't fully cooked and had some of the whites still raw. The slaw was just pure mayo with the faint flavor of mint, I saw no mint in the slaw. Gochujang syrup should not exist. And Kaya (coconut) jam was frothy and thin, not like jam at all. The other notable moments was seeing the specials menu, although they didn't call it specials they called it 'features'. Which most would consider a red flag. Also two of the three items on this 'features' menu was alcohol. The other thing was that despite it being well into noon they did not offer us a lunch menu. We were only given the choice of the brunch menu despite it being what most consider lunch. This was especially annoying when other tables that were there before us were given lunch menus. If you read all this I applaud you. This place thrives on drunken hype. The only good reviews they have I guarantee are from those so plastered they don't remember what they ate. Or have never eaten food before. There's better more interesting restaurants in Denver. Avoid this at all costs. read more

Denver, food and waiters just go SO WELL! Another delicious restaurant, another awesome waiter. Loved the ambience of this place. Loved the decor, even the bathrooms were cool. The menu was super different, divided into different continents, putting emphasis on regional specialties. Our favorite continent was Asia - pork potstickers, Korean BBQ tacos, Bao Buns (Mongolian BBQ Duck, Korean Fried Chicken). The potstickers were great. The ginger and garlic really shined through. Housed in a previous mortuary, the decor memorializing that is nicely done. The food was excellent. We had the mushroom tostadas, the pork and the duck buns, and the Thai curry. My favorite were the buns and the curry but the tostada was still pretty good. Flavors complemented one another very well in each dish. My absolute favorite was the plantain dessert. The plantains were fried and coated in cinnamon sugar and paired with a cotija cream and served with smoked almonds. Such an inventive way to add texture to the dish. I've been hearing about how good Linger is for years, so I knew that it would be good when I decided to go to them for Denver Restaurant Week this year but OH. MY. GOD. The food is SO GOOD here!! To be fair "Asian street food" is one of my favorite types of food ever, but everything I had was amazing. The bao buns were fluffy, the pickles tasted super fresh, the satay sauce with the lettuce wrap was smooth and sweet without being too sweet. And the DONUTS. The donuts were the best donuts I've ever had. It might be one of the best desserts I've ever had, period. The service was also excellent! I believe our server was named Shay? They were really attentive and friendly, and the food came out at a great pace. We were able to have all three of our courses in an hour, despite the restaurant week crowd. Kudos to both our server and the kitchen for everything running so smoothly! This might be my favorite restaurant now? I had heard a lot of cool things about Linger, and it seemed to be the best choice to meet some local friends when we were visiting Denver. (Plus an old mortuary = perfect for spooky season!) The experience was choice from start to finish. We were running late because someone rear-ended us on the way in, but Linger was gracious to change our reservations by a half hour. Once our (amazing!) server learned of our troubles, he offered a free amuse-bouche, which was so kind. We ordered a spread of various items to split tapas style. The lettuce wraps were a winner among the food. Unfortunately, the crispy Filipino spring rolls were not winners, but they were the only thing that wasn't delicious. We also tried some pad Thai and the potato masala dosas, which were much bigger than expected! We ended up with leftovers because our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. We didn't make it to the rooftop, but half of our party (the non car accident ones) did, and they said it was great - very chill (but thankfully not chilly due to outdoor heaters). I've visited Linger for both brunch and dinner, and I must say- I highly recommend trying out their brunch options. The place is pretty big with a somewhat eclectic vibe and even has a cool rooftop with a built in food truck/bar. The servers and bartenders are all knowledgeable and can tell you a ton of cool facts about the history of this place- it used to be a mortuary if that doesn't creep you out. The brunch menu is on the smaller side and the portions are the perfect size for one to enjoy. It's on the expensive side for brunch but each menu item I've tried was delicious and not your typical eggs/toast/bacon type of meal. If you enjoy sweet foods, I highly recommend the french toast (pictured). The dinner menu is very diverse and offers foods from various parts of the world. Normally, this would this would turn me off- I prefer to visit places that focus on a specific cuisine, not a smorgasbord of different foods. BUT, they honestly do a good job with each dish. If you are looking for a very authentic meal, this probably isn't the place for you. However, Linger does a good job of tweaking common dishes and making them with a unique twist. read more

Oh man, this is a hard review for me because I thought Linger was cool. It has a really interesting space (which our Denver friends told us used to be a mortuary, what?!?) and the vibe is super cool. The food for us was a bit hit or miss, and the service was pretty bad. So three stars, right down the middle. On the plus side: -Like I said, the space is really lovely. We had a larger group and they were all ready when we showed up for our reservation. -The drinks were fun and festive, and the mimosa I ordered was served in a wine glass and was completely full - probably the biggest mimosa I've ever been served in a restaurant (which is a definite plus). -Amongst the eight of us, we tried a ton of stuff, and the food was kind of hit or miss. The doughnut holes, bao buns and hangover ramen were all hits. On the minus side: -Some of the items we ordered were not as good. Personally I got the breakfast dosa, which sadly did not really live up to its billing. It was an absolutely humongous "crepe," which was not really very crepelike. It was hard and crispy and I would guess 15 inches in diameter wrapped up into kind of a roll. It honestly didn't taste very good and there was just way too much of it, even though it does make quite a visual impression. Inside there was a hunk of avocado, probably one or two eggs' worth of dry scrambled egg and some potatoes. It was highly unsatisfying and I wished I'd ordered something else. -Our service was pretty terrible from start to finish. As a result, our large party took up a large amount of space for more than two hours. Our waitress 1) dropped an entire tray of drinks on the way to our table 2) forgot my mimosa entirely 3) Delivered our drinks and literally did not come back to take our food order for 20 minutes 4) Got our order largely wrong - a number of items were incorrect or missing, which led to one of those wonderful situations where half of us got to eat while the other half watched 5) Had the kitchen prepare the missing items on the fly, which led to them kind of just being delivered whenever they were ready and some items coming so late that honestly we would have rather canceled them entirely if we weren't afraid that would cause us to be there for another hour 6) Ignored us for several minutes until we managed to flag her down to ask for our checks and then 7) came to collect the payments and only took half of the table's, even though we were all ready - which delayed our departure even more. To be fair - I know that a lot of restaurants are having trouble finding people nowadays and it's probably pretty likely she was new. And a table of eight at brunch is always challenging for any experienced server. I did feel terrible for her when she dropped the tray of drinks - the stairs the servers have to come down are treacherous even without a tray of drinks to balance. So we tried to give her the benefit of the doubt. But the service resulted in a very uneven and very prolonged dining experience. It has everything you could think of when you think of a corporate happy hour: - Good drinks - Loud setting - Food sitting between trendy and interesting - Extremely slow service I enjoyed the Filipino benedict a lot, especially as someone that isn't too particular on Asian and American fusion. The drinks were well loved by the table. The price is what you expect from Boulder: overpriced everywhere else but in the same line as most trendier places from Boulder. The food, unfortunately, took about an hour at LEAST to journey from the kitchen to the table. If you're thinking about getting an appetizer, don't be surprised that nothing is staggered either. The place is quite loud, but not to the point where you're screaming. The food and drinks outweigh the experience of being there, so I woud still recommend it. Don't get the Pad Thai. I've never had a Pad Thai like that and it was just odd... because it wasn't Pad Thai. Not saucy at all. The flavor was completely different from what pad Thai is. I was so confused but also I'm Southeast Asian so I'm used to the authentic kind but it was completely off. In my opinion, it wasn't a good kind of different. Appetizers were good though! I had the buns in vegetarian and meat version. Both are worth it. The vegetarian seemed like fried tofu w great sauce and seasoning. My favorite item was the fried spring roll/ egg rolls. We came here with friends who had recommended. We were anxious to try a new sort of dining experience. I have travelled all over Asia, India, and the Middle East so I expected to recognize most of the dishes but I didn't and had no clue what we would be getting. The craft cocktails were yummy and the service attentive and professional. Definitely a 5* place. However, out of all the dishes we tried, I couldn't say any of them "wowed" me. In fact, after our party racked up a 300$+ bill, I left hungry and missing that satisfaction of a good wholesome meal. We came for just drinks and some apps so not sure if that makes a difference? But from what we sampled (quite a bit), everything was a bit lackluster and don't think we'd be back. I have been to Linger several times and have had good experiences, but unfortunately, our most recent experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Despite being a large party of 13, we made reservations a month in advance and called a week prior to confirm they could accommodate a party of this size, which they said was fine. When we were seated, we quickly received the bottle of champagne that had been sent over to the table, but we had to wait quite a while for our actual drink orders to be taken. Seeing that a table of our size, in addition the the other tables they were already taking care of, would be challenging for our server, we offered to break our party down into small groups based on where we were sitting and ordered our food that way. However, once our food orders were in, we were all but ignored. We had to wave down different servers several times to place additional drink orders, have water refilled, and most importantly receive our food. While one end of the table was receiving their food, the other side received a single dish over the course of two hours. The dish that did arrive was intended to be vegetarian but came with chicken resulting in one person not being able to eat at all. When I approached the manager, Tina, about this, she refused to acknowledge any fault on Linger's part and instead blamed our party for "stealing each other's food." While the food is good, and in the past service has been good, I am really disappointed in this experience, our server, and the manager. The time Ling visits Linger in Colorado. Casual and modern vibe. Try of dishes from all around the world. Family style dining. Great place for those who want to taste a little bit of everything. It also seems as though the menu updates every so often replacing some items with new ones. Linger's menu has dishes from all over the world. Our waitress recommended about 2 dishes for each person, so my party of 4 had the following: - Steamed Bao Buns: Bao Bun Trio ($19) - America's & Europe: Waygu Sliders ($19.5) - Africa, Middle East, & India: Smoked Red Lentil Soup ($8) - Asia: Tempura Ginger Chili Shrimp ($16), Scallion & Five Spice Short Rib Pancake ($18), Potato Masala Dosa ($17), and half an order of Korean Fried Chicken with Bonchan ($24) We were surprised how everything was overall made pretty well. The group's favorite were the lentil soup (I'm not the biggest lentil fan, but the flavor just was on point I would find myself having another spoonful even when all the food was out), Korea Fried Chicken (suuuper crunchy and tender, even the white meat! The half order was 5 pieces of chicken), and Dosa (good texture and yummy sauces to pair with). Our waitress, while attentive, came off a bit sassy when we asked her some questions. Nothing too off-putting though. I would recommend making a reservation in advance because this place was pretty packed, especially for a Monday. I was able to snag a reservation an hour or so before going. As for parking, you can either try to find street parking or park at the lot right across the street from the restaurant. Conveniently located next to the restaurant was Little Ice Cream Man. Look for either the ice cream's large milk container stand or Linger's large restaurant sign above the restaurant.
